It was all about ABC, of course, with the 86th Annual “Academy Awards” at a whopping 27.9 rating/41 share in the household overnights from 8:30-11:30 p.m. ET (results for the 11:30 p.m. half-hour were not available at press time). The peak half-hour was a 28.7/44 at 10:30 p.m. Comparably, this was a slight improvement over the 27.0/40 for the year-ago telecast (on Sunday 2/24/13), and that translated into 40.38 million viewers and a 13.0 rating/31 share among adults 18-49 (based on the live plus same day data, which was a three year high). Elsewhere, CBS managed to get some mileage from 7-9 p.m. with its pairing of a repeat of “60 Minutes” (#2: 6.6/10) and episode two of the new season of “The Amazing Race” (#2: 4.0/ 6). But encores of “The Mentalist” (2.4/ 3) and “The Good Wife” (2.0/ 3) slipped to third from 9-11 p.m. NBC aired two-hour repeat installments of “Dateline” (#3: 3.0/ 4) and “The Voice” (#2t, 2.4/ 3) from 7-11 p.m. And Fox finished fourth in each of its six half-hours care of encores of animated “Bob’s Burgers” (1.3/ 2), “American Dad” (1.2/ 2), “The Simpsons” (1.7/ 2), the regularly scheduled airing of “Bob’s Burgers” (1.4/ 2), “Family Guy” (1.7/ 2) and the regularly scheduled airing of “American Dad” (1.6/ 2).

Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).
Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.
Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.
