Monday 3/17/14 Metered Markets
“Dancing With the Stars” Return Down but Still a Solid Option
Household
Rating/Share
ABC 9.1/14
NBC 7 .7/12
CBS 4.7/ 7
Fox 3.6/ 5
CW 0.8/ 1
-Percent Change from Year-Ago Evening – Monday 3/18/13:
NBC: +92, CW: +33, ABC and CBS: -15 each, Fox: -27
(Note: NBC featured the season-finale of “The Biggest Loser” on the year-ago evening)
———-
-Winners:
“Dancing With the Stars” (ABC), “The Voice” (NBC), “The Blacklist” (NBC)
-Honorable Mention:
“How I Met Your Mother” (CBS)
-Losing Steam:
“The Following” (Fox)
-Losers (excluding repeats):
“Star-Crossed” (CW), “The Tomorrow People” (CW)
———-
-Ratings Breakdown:
ABC was back in the Monday overnight winner’s circle care of the spring season-premiere of “Dancing With the Stars,” which dominated with a 10.3 rating/16 share from 8-10 p.m. While this bested two-hours of competing “The Voice” on NBC (8.2/13) by 26 percent, “The Voice” will hold a noticeable advantage over “Dancing With the Stars” in all the key young adult demos. Comparably, the “Dancing With the Stars” opener was down by 15 percent from the 12.1/18 on the year-ago evening (which was also a season premiere).
Tops in the overnights at 10 p.m. was NBC’s “The Blacklist,” with a 6.9/11, which beat the competition – “Castle” on ABC (6.6/11) and “Intelligence” on CBS (3.7/ 6) – by 5 and 86 percent, respectively. “The Blacklist” will, of course, hold a much greater advantage over “Castle” in the demos.
CBS had nothing unusual to report with its 8-10 p.m. sitcom combination of soon-to-conclude “How I Met Your Mother” (#3: 5.5/ 9), “2 Broke Girls” (#3: 5.1/ 8), “Mike & Molly” (#3: 5.3/ 8) and “Mom” (#3: 4.8/ 7), which all fit well together. If “The Big Bang Theory” does move back to Monday (as the 8 p.m. anchor) next season, expected an improved performance (and increased HUT levels).
Elsewhere, Fox’s combination of already renewed dramas “Bones” (#4: 4.0/ 6) and fading “The Following” (#4: 3.2/ 5), which dipped by 32 percent from the year-ago evening, finished a distant fourth overall. And the time period premiere of The CW’s on-the-fence “The Tomorrow People” scored a mere 0.8/ 1 in the overnights at 9 p.m., which was actually a slight improvement compared to “Beauty and the Beast” one week earlier (0.7/ 1 on March 10). Failing recent entry “Star-Crossed” averaged a 0.9/ 1 at 8 p.m., which was 29 percent above “The Carrie Diaries” on the year-ago evening (0.7/ 1 on 3/18/13).

Ugh at TTP. Really disappointed.
ReplyDeleteTTP :(
ReplyDeleteI am not ready for it to be over!
I'd wait before jumping the gun on The Tomorrow People until the demos are out.
ReplyDeleteHappy abot Star-Crossed. It´s not much but is getting better and better every week!
ReplyDeletePlease Save TTP
ReplyDeleteI hope the ratings will show the improvement of Cw's monday, compared to last monday (maybe 0.4 and 0.3), but even in that case, the ratings of Star-Crossed and The Tomorrow People would remain too low for a renewal =/ and that would be bad news because from what I read, the seasons of both will end with a cliffhanger.
ReplyDeleteI'll watch them until the end, but it hurts.
Go Blacklist!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to Bones. :(
ReplyDeleteBones has been renewed, no need to worry.
ReplyDeleteI don't get it, I hoped it could rise after the first week of daylight saving time. It's renewed anyway, but I understand you being upset, because I am when the already renewed The Originals, Arrow, Reign, The Vampire and Supernatural ratings decrease.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how HIMYM's finale will affect everything next week...
ReplyDeleteDespite the low ratings for TTP, I'm hoping that if it manages to improve the ratings for that timeslot, then I'm hoping that the CW sees this as a positive thing. Especially since they are shifting from a terrific lead-in (Arrow) to a poor lead-in (ratings-wise)
ReplyDeleteTTP NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. The next weeks will be able to see if TTP has a chance. The 100 will debut on Wednesday, so let's have some hope.
ReplyDeleteThank you for understanding. :) And I don't get it either. I thought it would go back up, too. But hopefully it will in April, once HIMYM ends.
ReplyDeleteI like The Tomorrow People but I don't want The 100 to fail. Unfortunately the majority of Arrow's fans didn't like The Tomorrow People. Cw gave the show the best lead-in it could (the most compatible), but it didn't work.
ReplyDeleteLooks like The Tomorrow People and Star-Crossed could improve Cw's monday nights, but that won't be enough to save them, if the ratings are still so low :(
I know it's renewed, but it still sucks that it went down.
ReplyDeleteIn 2 weeks, you mean?:) And I believe it will affect a lot the 8-8,30 slot, maybe something too untill 9 but not after...
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I´m hoping Castle gets close to 2.0 again?
Predicting 2.7 for The Blacklist
ReplyDeleteYES TTP Go down :) The 100 Will Win this War
I will watch The 100 and I think it's going to be a great show. But I like TTP a lot and the show has improved so much in the last few weeks. But, let's face it, mondays are not a good the for CW. I think that new shows won't improve it. Supernatural or The Vampire Diaries could have a chance to get better numbers on this day, but I'm not so sure. The competition is so tough.
ReplyDeleteI am not to optimistic.
ReplyDeleteHopefully :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a one-hour special, so it will impact 9 pm, which is debut of FWBL, so that should get decent sampling, but whatever momentum will be lost since CBS is airing NCAA final the next Monday.
ReplyDeleteI think they should have never moved it from Fridays personally, it was dominating that timeslot for FOX and Almost Human wasn't doing significantly worse than it is doing on Mondays. Besides, moving a show twice in a year is never a good thing .
ReplyDeleteI agree both of them are terrible.Star Crossed is super dumb.Aliens with tatoos are pathetic.TTP ..... leave it like that
ReplyDeleteThat kind of comment is just all sorts of rude. I like both shows and don't find them boring. So what?
ReplyDeleteTo each his/her own, you like Beauty and The Beast, others don't.
ReplyDeleteI like all these shows: Star-Crossed, The Tomorrow People and Beauty and The Beast.
It's not really a war. I am strongly rooting for both shows, but the CW can perfectly cancel both as they have enough programs already to fill its week. They may renew one more, but they may not. The Tomorrow People is dead no matter what happens to The 100.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't realize that. That's kind of dumb but they didn't really have much of a choice there. Too bad because I am rooting for the show.
ReplyDeleteStar crossed really is a horrible show from all aspects-makeup,cliched storyline, bad acting, but TTP is a decent show but fell short off it's huge expectations but the show has merit...too bad the rating is not reflecting that!!
ReplyDeleteYeah I know, I am just saying that once it was on Fridays already (regardless of you liking it or not that it went there in the first place), it was a bad idea to move it back. There is a very real chance that it will be averaging lower on Mondays that it did on Fridays. And again, FOX did have a viable alternative with Almost Human extension, it's not like they would have to put something like Rake on Mondays.
ReplyDeleteI think that they should of cast someone else to play Stephen, too old to be in high school.
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong, it's just my opinion ... I don't like them and I stated why.
ReplyDeleteand that's your opinion, which I accept completely ;)
ReplyDeleteWell that really ignorant of you.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree.
ReplyDeleteI actually really enjoy the aspect of the race relations and the fight for equality in Star Crossed. I have never cared for any alien show or movie before yet I like this one. But I really don't take your comment to seriously now that I see you are a fan of Twilight. Like, really??
ReplyDeleteAre you sure, because I checked TVListings and the have FWBL scheduled for 4/7.
ReplyDeleteWell go ahead, enjoy it! It's not like I'm saying don't watch it ! Jeez! haha and the twilight crap is from 5 years ago ! You didn't analyse my account very well ;)
ReplyDeleteit looks like a 0.3 or 0.4
ReplyDeleteNot the place for this, but anyone see Teen Wolf last night?! Wow....
ReplyDeleteI expected TTP to go down, but i didnt expect it to go lower than Star-Crossed. It seems like 0.3.
ReplyDeleteTTP is dead, at this point The 100 (probably),TCD and SC all have better chance to be renewed
So.... It's good for Star-Crossed?
ReplyDeletewow you are rude and ignorant. That is not an opinion, this is just wrote to hurt people.
ReplyDeleteI love TTP and it's getting better each week.
But just because I don't like something or don't watch it anymore I don't write thinks like that.
Maybe you are not smart enough to get TTP or Star Crossed? Think about that for a second and maybe then you stop to insult shows others loves.
You don't like it. That is fine and a opinion. But writing something like that comment is just childish and just made to hurt random people you don't even know. That is actually pretty sad...
You don't say "you call that a show" and then act as if you were simply stating your opinion. You can say that you find the show boring and that you don't like it, that's fine and it's your opinion, and then you can act as if you are criticizing people for liking that show, which was how your comment came across, and no, that's not ok!
ReplyDeleteDammit People. Where are all the TTP Fans, who at least still watch last week and not this week. Show is getting better and better and american people decide to watch thinks like "The Voice"? Really?
ReplyDeleteSo annoying living in Germany and seeing the good shows fall just because people are not patient enough to let the story and characters grow.
Didn´t know that, thanks:)
ReplyDeleteI love The Voice, but if I lived in US and had a Nielsen box, I'd watch The Tomorrow People live, because The Voice is doing great and wouldn't be cancelled, while The Tomorrow People is in real danger.
ReplyDeleteThe Tomorrow People has more viewers in Italy than US. That's unbelievable.
in fact, the tomorrow people did the same as BATB did every week. batb did worse last week, but this was the only week it did less than 0.3. star crossed is doing worse than HOD overall. mondays is a cursed day for the cw
ReplyDeleteI don't thinks so. Star-crossed is a new show that already has terrible ratings, which doesn't bode well for next season. The fact that it may have done the same or slightly better than an older show that was uprooted from its usual home, isn't going to encourage producers to renew it...in fact it just highlights the fact that the show is a poor lead-in. I suspect that if TTP is dead, then so is star-crossed, so it's a waste of energy to root against the TTP. If the 100 does poorly then it might stand a chance, but given that The 100 is following Arrow, there is no way it will get lower ratings than Star-Crossed.
ReplyDeleteOnly people with a Neilsen box are counted. The show has floundered for weeks, and the revelation of the mother was epic in stupidity. She put her kid on meds and let him think he was crazy instead of teaching him to use his powers. That lost a lot of viewers. They may come back, but the ratings lag a week as word of mouth gets around on the 'net. So if ep 16 was really good, then you can expect an improvement for ep 17 ratings.
ReplyDeletesame as BATB does every single week (though BATB did worse last week) - i am a BATB fan and want it to be renewed but obviously at the same time i do nto wish bad for any other show. but it does show that the monday 9pm timeslot is the worst timeslot for the cw
ReplyDelete0.3, i am sure
ReplyDeleteI think TTP has a lot of fans, but they don't seem to watch on the same day. The Live + 7 DVR ratings for TTP have actually been better than Reign for a while, but unfortunately, the Live+ 7 ratings probably don't carry much weight with sponsors.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I wrote 'compared to last monday' :) I'd like to see them doing better, but a little improvement would be something.
ReplyDeleteHart of Dixie did better than Star-Crossed, but without Daylight saving time and the midseason finale of Hart of Dixie obtained the rating of 0.3 :( I hope its rating will be good enough on friday, after Whose line is it anyway.
i wish all shows could be renewed but unfortunately they cannot ...
ReplyDeletemy fav is BATB but ratings too low .. though u never know ...
I don't watch these shows but people have the right to like whatever they want. I think the Big Bang Theory is one of the worst tv shows on tv but that doesn't stop people from watching it. To each their own.
ReplyDelete"I don't even understand why ppl like TTP ... It's BORING !!!". You could have left that out if you were just stating your "opinion".
ReplyDeleteYeah, I see what you're saying about moving it back.
ReplyDeleteI hoped HIMYM would back to 3s, but it got 2.9, sigh.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to take a wild guess and say your a BATB fan right?
ReplyDeleteA 1.4? Bones was definitely better off on Fridays.
ReplyDeleteDWTS did not help castle at all. But then again, DWTS was down itself.
ReplyDeleteBones 1.4, The Mentalist 1.3, Castle 1.8, people don't watch this kind of tv shows anymore. tv crime dramedy is dead. :/
ReplyDeleteWow. CBS and FOX definitely had an off night. Did DWTS really affect them that much?
