    "Lately, I don't know what's up with you. Up is down and down is sideways" --- God, ain't that the truth.

    The episode was good. The Ghostfacers have been a little over the top for me in the past, but I don't hate them. They were a lot calmer this episode. Their theme song is freaking awesome - I wish it was played during the credits. I liked the meta their dialogue brought to the show. Also, I liked the fact that Ed made up thinman - it just seems like something he would do.

    SPN cops are even worse than normal TV cops. They are universally more useless than any other show. I thought it was kinda dumb that one of the bad guys was a cop, but loved the fact that the bad guys were human.

    The brother story was really cute. I want a pic of young Dean and Sam dressed as Superman and Batman. Sam finally rescues Dean (kinda - from handcuffs) and they don't freakin' show it? WTH?

    May the Ghostfacers never grace my tv again. I could get behind the whole thinman thing, and it was interesting to see another case
    where it’s just sick humans to blame, but MAN do I hate those guys. I just hink they’re ridiculous, and they brought the episode way down for me.

    I’m also surprised that both bad guys ended up dead. I know it may have been a heat of the moment thing, and that a Ghostfacer killed one of them, but I think the boys try not to take a life if not absolutely necessary. Monsters excluded, of course. It was kind of shocking to see the cold look on Dean’s face when he pushed the knife into the guy.

    I guess the one redeeming quality of the episode was that Ed and Harry’s conflict paralleled Sam and Dean’s a little bit. It made them think about their own situation. I just don’t know if it was for better or worse haha. I’m hoping it made them realize that they don’t want a future where that other rocking chair is empty!

    The last five minutes were excellent and the perfect way for Carver to tie this mess up. I just hope he doesn't take his rock hammer and go all Andy Dufresne on the wall again.

    Rude at breaking up Ed and Harry. Loved the parallel to Sam and Dean. Hopefully they take it to heart and fix their issues soon.

    I love that the bad guys were human this time! That doesn't happen very often.

    That story about Sam and Dean as little kids was cute.

    It was an Awesome episode, but i'm still having a hard time about the whole Ed is Dean, Sam is Harry thing. I will have to watch again, then decide if it was good or bad.

    This was a meh episode. Kind of boring, but it had some interesting points. What really annoys them is the oh so obvious paralleling of the brothers and the ghost facers, as though Dean repeatedly saving his brother's life and soul in any way compares to that guy creating some fake bad guy so his buddy would stay in the game and ending up getting multiple people killed. Dean's reasoning was far more profound then that and by comparing them, you diminish the worth of his actions. That annoyed me a great deal. As well as the many and blatant comparisons the whole episode.

    Only thing I really enjoyed was the motw. It was cool to have it bring nothing supernatural at all. An elaborate hoax with a creepy mask.

    Like i said in my comment I'm having a hard time with those paralles... I really liked the episode, but while i was watching I had the same thought as you about Dean. Tomorrow i will watch again, so maybe i can see something more in that, but I'm afraid i will end up with the same conclusion as you.

    The parallel was a bit too heavy handed for my taste. In the past, the parallels have been a bit more subtle but this one was like a wrecking ball crashing through the entire episode. It annoyed me. the episode screamed "Ed = Dean. Harry = Sam." Okay. I got it.

    I liked the beginning with Dean ready to go off on his own hunt, and I like that he told Sam that he didn't know what Sam wanted. I've been arguing that Dean didn't get whatever Sam was trying to tell him, and this episode just made that clear. I also liked the scene of Dean killing that guy. The moment where the brothers reminisced was also nice.

    I thought this episode was okay. I've enjoyed other Ghostfacer episodes more than this one.

    I also found the paralleling to be too heavy-handed the episode. I actually began rolling my eyes at the obvious parallels the show was trying to make between Sam and Dean and Ed and Harry. It was very annoying and took me out of the episode.

    When Sam was starting to talk to Harry about things you can or cannot forgive I was like: "OMG are we going to have a nice conversation between Sam and a guest star with actually Sam's POV?" Too good to be true because Dean showed up seconds later. So frustating.

    Couldn't agree more about the wrecking ball bit. I felt smacked over the head repeatedly with the comparison. They could have done a good job with something far more subtle.

    Plus..come on, in the past the ghost facers have always made some humorous episodes. This one didn't have a single laugh and it was far too serious. People who like the ghost facers we less likely to enjoy it because it's missing the elements that made them interesting, while people who hate the ghost facers....are still going to hate them because they're the ghostfacers.

    I'm glad to see that others thought the parallels were as painful as I thought they were. At first it was okay, then it got to be too much. Its like the writers thought we were idiots and couldn't understand what they were trying to say.


    We got it. Enough was enough already! By the end of the episode I was fed up with the obviousness of it.


    That being said, I didn't hate the episode. There were some good lines in it.

    Yeah, I felt the same way by the end. I was rolling my eyes during Ed/Harry's breakup it was so blatantly a parallel to Sam/Dean. Heck, the dialogue was practically the same. It was a bit ridiculous in my eyes by that point.

    I didn't hate the episode either. I thought it was okay. I think there have been better Ghostfacer episodes.

    Yeah, I also thought Sam was going to open up to Harry, but, alas, we were once again robbed of Sam's POV. I'd like to hear more from him beyond the speeches he's given.

    I have an industrial tub of aspirin from Costco if anyone needs it from the repeated anvils that kept getting dropped on our heads tonight. There were some cute moments but all in all just a barely above mediocre for me. It kills me that writers think so little of us when the fans are usually the ones to point out their colossal canon mistakes in 5 seconds flat or less.

    I love the Ghostfacer but they really screwed the pooch with this episode, though I shouldn't be surprised with the lackluster number of episodes this season. Horrible and irrelevant to the season 9 storyline.

    Yeah, but I still have major issues with the speeches Sam gave in ST and TP, so I'm hoping we'll get some clarification from him. I may not like what Carver has Sam say, but I think there needs to be some clarity.

    For me, the Ghostfacers are/were simply the parody version of Sam and Dean, existing merely to illustrate how incapable they were compared to the fabulous Winchesters.Comic relief, nothing else.

    Ed and Harry wanted Hollywood, fame and fortune, while the Winchesters did their dangerous work in the shadows with hardly any thanks for endangering their own lives for others, but when the show wants me to take them seriously and put them on the same level as the brothers then NO, just NO!

    The ghostfacers have NOTHING in common with Sam and Dean and all the sacrifices they have made for each other.
    Comparing their stupid little argument to what Sam and Dean have suffered for each other is an insult to the brothers!

    The Ghostfacers' moments on screen were boring.
    I couldn't have cared less about their angst, as if Sam and Dean's wasn't depressing enough we have to have wishy-washy parallel with Ed and Harry!,
    The story wasn't particularly scary or heart-stopping. It is what it is, simply Carver's uncaring, unpassionate,badly thought out showrunning.

    If you watch Hell-house and compare it with this, the former is Shakespeare!
    Even the J's seem washed out and pale reminders of themselves because of this story-line of 'not being brothers', for it was their bro-bond chemistry, the glances, the touching the concern for each other that made the show.
    Honestly it seems not even Sam and Dean care any more, so how can we?

    Two positives. No Castiel and his even more boring angel story-line, and
    the little bro-moment with Dean Superman and Sam Batman, though I do
    believe it should have been the other way around. :)
    I gave it poor.

    One of the problems with pointing out canon mistakes is that what is a canon mistake for one person isn't one for another. Some are obvious mistakes (like the Grand Canyon). I've seen others like, "Cas stole an angel's grace, that's a canon violation!" when there was nothing in canon about that being impossible.


    I do agree it was a heavy-handed episode. Jenny Klein is a crap writer so I expected even worse.

    I would say it was rather difficult to drop anvils in the eighth episode of season one, but even if there were, at least they were sparkling and new, not rehashed continually as Carver has done since he took over.

    Kripke did that quite a bit. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not. I don't think Carver's been as bad, but this episode was ridiculously blatant.

    I don't like Jenny Klein's Dean, but I must say that I give her a few points for having Dean smack a guy's butt and make that "treasure trail" comment. Not too subtle there, Dean.

    I really liked the parallels in this episode. Ed and Harry were always supposed to be the wacky version of Sam Dean. Yes Ed creation wasn't like Dean allowing an angel to possess Sam in order to save his life, but it was still a lie to his best friend so that he wouldn't walk from him. Ed didn't trust that his friend would still be there for him in the end. His greatest fear was losing his best friend and Dean's greatest fear is losing his little brother. I enjoyed this episode and thought everyone did a great job.

    Yes, Sam did relate to the boy from Bugs, and he felt the father treated the son like John treated him. That said, I didn't feel insulted by the comparison like I did here. As Isle points out, that was the first season so it felt less like an anvil dropping your head repeatedly.

    My main thoughts on this episode...


    I would have preferred a funny Ghostfacers appearance, but AJ Buckley and Travis Wester sold the drama and angst. I wish there had been a less sour resolution, or that we at least knew where the characters were going next.


    Agree with everyone about the parallels and anvils and how heavy it was.


    I liked that Sam seemed to be getting along more with Dean this week, and didn't rub the Ghostfacer lies in his face. Sadly Dean is so closed down now.


    I hope the stabbing is leading us to more Mark of Cain buildup.


    Bad dialogue and a flat episode minus some good acting and one or two funny moments.


    I hope this won't be the last time we see the Ghostfacers. I wasn't a huge fan but it just feels sad and incomplete.

    There is not a place to vote for LAME. I can not stand the Ghostfacers so any ep that has them is AWFUL/LAME. Did not like the GF correlation to Sam and Dean's problems. I can only hope this is the last time to see Ed and Harry.

    Was glad to see not monsters this time, just crazy humans.

    I am not a fan of the ghostfacers but liked them in this one. The treasure trail and lady gun in your pants scene was funny. I loved the Thinman idea and the fact that it was humans. I also love that Sam yelled out when the Thinman had the knife at Dean's throat. This was a good story in many ways. I am more hopeful for Sam and Dean now.

    I loved this episode so much and it made me love Supernatural again. I've loved The Ghostfacers since they first appeared in season 1. I'm so happy they came back again because I've been really getting sick of some of the other returning guests like Charlie and Garth. I don't mind Garth, but I will never watch another episode with Charlie in it.
    I seriously doubt Dean will ever think he's not right in making decisions and choices concerning Sam or that he thought about Sam and not himself when he's made these decisions. Like selling his soul to bring Sam back to life. Sam never wanted Dean to do that, but Sam was hurt by that. And all the other decisions like returning Sam's soul to his body. Bobby almost died over that and that was because of Dean not soulless Sam. Dean wasn't thinking about Sam when he wanted Sam's soul restored, he was just thinking of himself.
    It's interesting to think about all the times when Sam has been alone like when Dean was in hell, when he was soulless or when Dean went to Purgatory. Why was Dean mad at Sam all those times? Because Sam didn't sit around drinking and crying over Dean the whole time he was gone. Sam went on in whatever way he could. That didn't mean Sam didn't love Dean, it just meant Sam wasn't obsessed about losing Dean like Dean seems to be obsessed over losing Sam.
    I just hope The Ghostfacers make another appearance. Maybe in season 10. I love them and they helped to restore my love for Supernatural again.

    This was an ok kind of episode. It was so good that we had something other than angels, demons and Crowley for once. I wish they hadn't messed with the Ghostfacers. They were so cool before but now not so much

    I'm tellin' ya. Carver's got a poster of Raquel Welch on his wall and his copy of Stephen King's Different Seasons has a hollowed out spot in the shape of a rock hammer.


    But it'll only take him about three years to bring this down.

    There have been in my opinion way more solidly agreed upon colossal canon shattering mistakes than the sort of kind of/maybe, maybe not ones.


    But yeah I'm just saying the SPN fandom is not stupid in the least and there are a lot of us who watch an episode more than once and write better meta and fan fic than the writers themselves, is all I was saying.


    I don't get excited for any writers anymore, unfortunately, it's just, aww man, them again and hope to be pleasantly surprised if my low expectations are halfway met or exceeded at this point.

    Well Carver has been dropping anvils since 8,01, and in HH he actually made one materialize so that we could be visually reminded, lol!
    Maybe he wants to knock us all so dizzy that we won't realise the mess he and his mediocre writers are making of the show and of Sam and Dean. :)
