Pretty good episode! Got in a lot of stuff in this one!
So shout out to Alias with Gordon Dean and sleeper agents. -I knew something would be wrong with Priscilla, but did not expect that the nanites would use her body as a host. Also suspected at the beginning of the season that Jason could be reprogrammed and/or there could be some kine of code word and I was right!
Glad Truman was an original American Soldier, because I felt like he was different from most of the other Patriots we have met and I would love for him to defect. Nice to start seeing more flashbacks about how GB became the Patriots' home base post blackout, but I still suspect given Kripke's interviews, that members of the DOD and the President are part of the conspiracy that took out the former United States (and nice shout out to the eye of providence and conspiracy theories, including "The New Order" theory).
I hope Dillon doesn't come back to bite them in their a**! -But I liked the commentary/discussion about war and using children as warfare (Bad Robot theme). I can totally understand Rachel's position, even though I think Monroe was right despite his motivations being wrong, but again this kind of goes back to season one and "The Children's Crusade" and I think it would be nice (even if unrealistic) for Dillian actually to come back and help them later.
Poor Poor Jason. I still feel bad for the guy. I liked the double family fight scenes though! Pretty action packed at the end there!
Miles has come a long way...he was the one in charge of the reprogramming boats in the Monroe republic and him letting the boy leave today showed how far he has come. I hope it won't come back to bite him later on.
I loved today's episode mainly because of the Miles focus (been missing that badly lately), and the further development of his character. It will be interesting to see why he does fight and I hope it will not just be the obvious answer that he fights for Rachel but something more deeper. I can actually see Monroe ending up persuading Miles to be part of the new republic. The one thing that seemed to have shocked Miles the most after the blackout was how all law and order went down the drain so fast, and that nobody was there to control it, which I always thought was the trigger for him to establishing the Militia. Once the Patriots are gone, there will be a vacuum again, and it would make sense if Miles joins up with Monroe but this time having learned from past mistakes and making it a better republic. I am not sure I like the influence Rachel is having over Miles as it could make him soft which he can't afford in this fight but then I never liked Rachel so I am very biased in this regard. :) The Patriots are getting more evil with each episode and I can't wait for the big showdown. Still hope it will be in Washington. The ending was absolutely creepy...all I can say is Poor Aaron, I hope he figures it out soon.
"It will be interesting to see why he does fight and I hope it will not just be the obvious answer that he fights for Rachel but something more deeper. "
Well I think he is already fighting for Rachel (and Charlie), because the show really is about looking at family and war (this is what Charlie started via Ben). -Monroe tried to tell him that playing house isn't his thing, but Miles really had an epiphany when Rachel reminded him that he is not Monroe and to do (what she thinks) is the right thing and that made him realize that Bass is still fighting for power (and that he's still a bit of a black hole)...
But I also think what fighting for people you care about means, is that you are fighting so that there can be a more peaceful world/better future (freedom) and I think that it what the Matheson name will mean (I think it's what they wanted it to be last season, but they weren't prepared for the failure at the tower and that set them back a bit). I think when it gets down to it, sure Miles has a knack for fighting/killing, but I think he does want the family he never let himself have (which so many times Monroe interfered with, because he let Bass make him believe that he couldn't be anything else + his father might configure in here too and this is a nice contrast to the sleeper agent thing) and maybe wouldn't mind playing house a little bit one day, unless they decide to end the series with his death.
But the horrible thing with Bass is, is that now we know from previous episodes that he knows having a family would of made him a better person, which he says he wanted that for his son, but then he turns around [after he survives again] and tells Miles he shouldn't want that! What a yo-yo! :D
Exactly! The writers keep hitting all of this season 1 notes showing us progressions, which I think is great! It is also nice to see that Miles is able to catch himself before getting completely lost in Monroe's lust for power!
I loved it! Such a great episode. Love that Monroe still has a problem with Charlie and Connor, and find it interesting that he used the words "his girls" in conversation with Miles. More credence to the "Charlie is Miles' daughter" theory?
Whoa at the numbers and Priscilla. Was not expecting either of those.
What I meant was that I hope Miles will have a more "heroic" reason for fighting than fighting out of love for Rachel. I think he wants to save Willoughby because of her (that's pretty obvious why else would he want to save this little town) but as he learns more of the Patriots, I hope his reason changes to wanting to save the nation. One thing that always stays in my mind is Miles' shock how fast things went downhill after the blackout...he lamented that there was no police or army that kept the order and that thugs could just go around killing and stealing with no punishment. Of course, he than took the law into his own hands and killed those two thugs who had killed a couple down the road and were beating up on Jeremy. But I always wondered if he originally established the Militia to bring order back to the country. That was really all he knew back then as a marine...and we know how overboard he went with it..but I still wonder if his initial intent was a good one (would really love to see more flashbacks to that time). So, with that in mind, I wonder if he will come to realize that he fights again for the future of the country especially as he learns more of the background of the Patriots. Of course, is this is his ultimate purpose, he may end up rebuilding the Monroe republic but may be more careful and thought out since he does not seem the kind of guy who repeats mistakes. Hopefully, we get a Season 3 to see how this plays out.
Another thing I am wondering...how in the world will they be able to deprogram all of these kids. Beating them up (which is what Tom did with Jason) obviously did not help one bit as you just have to say their serial number to trigger their reprogrammed mind.
Finally some great answers about the Patriots and about the soldiers program camp. The final scenes has some pretty good fight scenes and all that conflict between groups is getting better and better. The conversation between Monroe and Miles was intense, Bass have a point and does it.
About the Priscila situation is me or her is work with the nanobots?
I love how everyone keeps thinking that Charlie is his daughter even without official announcement. I don´t know why but I took it as a fact long time ago :D
Ya I think so because they all "sprung" out of her and into the trees (la nod to "the tree of life") and we know they can be in and out of everything and it's then a contrast to the kids and Jason, because it's another kind of 'sleeper agent'/not being in control of one's self...
Similar to the concept presented in LOST, the nanites via in image of Horn told Aaron after he fixed the code that now they can "move onto" other things...For whatever reason they're still trying to manipulate him to do something and I have no idea if the code on the computer screen was just a test (and that it's not the real thing--thyy need to go to the tower computer--a place of origin) or if there is just something else now? But Priscilla's attitude in this episode is anti the way she has been the hold time. She's too happy considering what just all happened and what her position was before...
Ya! I understand what you mean now. I do think he's suppose to be more of a freedom fighter, and that's what season 1 was working towards, but the tower and having all of those people die, set a lot of the characters and their relationships back...But I think Miles will fight for a better country, but I think it's because he has something to fight for (his family) with someone reminding him of his own moral compass, which then is projected outwards to a better humanity...
I can understand being against using children and turning them into weapons but at the same time I can also understand realizing that they've already been turned into weapons by the patriots and apparently can't control their own actions so it's not really safe to just let them go.
I still believe that government needs civilian oversight and that it never works out well when the military is in command. That was a problem with the Monroe Republic and the Patriots are even worse.
That might be true - about the past, but I think it´s pretty obvious they are together now. So yeah, if she doesn´t know about their past then it´s understandable.
I agree what you say because Priscila was acting very strange, first I think: "Why she doing this now?", than make all sense the nanites controling her and now when you mention the talk between Dr. Horn and Aaron, I remember what Grace and Rachel said, the nanites are in everywhere, so they could control her easy. I have not sure they will try to manipulate Aaron again, but I think they will use Priscila because of the connection between both, she could be used in a plan without Aaron include. I think they maybe could do this with Peter too.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
