As someone just mentioned over at POI discussion... you either trust Root or you don't. I never have and I just don't enjoy these episodes as much as I'd like to. That really makes me sad.
With every new episode I fall more and more in love with this show. With the loss of Carter I thought the show might go astray, but Shaw and /root have come into their own. Amazing writing..
Not as good as the past coupel episodes for me, but Root is still my least favorite regular on the series by far. I just find her character so grating and annoying in large doses.
What Shaw said, "How you do matters as much a what you do" is so so true! . I could not agree more with Shaw on that point!
It is also a large part of why I find Root so Intolerable at times. Mindless worship to any god is never a good thing! Mindless worship with snark is even worse! XD
Awesome to see Decima/ Greer and Vigilance/ Collier again! About time we get movement on the seasonal arc again!
All in all I think it was a great episode that moved things forward.
Outstanding as always..... loved everything about the ep especially the scenes/dialogue between Finch and Root - loved that the machine was possibly trying to make a point/teach Root.. just a fantastic ep
I wish I could enjoy her episodes as much, but the character itself annoys me on top of knowing she is psycho and delusional.
Like in this episode she asked who was she to tell the janitor who the shooter in his past was... Well duh! She were the shooter!
Or even worse...
She has gone on and on about she is "On a mission form "God" and how she is righteous in that. Past evidence shows that she will kill or sacrifice whoever for said God. And then she tries to tell Harold she is doing all of this for Harold, Reese and Shaw? I do not think so!
Easily top 3 of the season. Loved Root in this one. Nice to see an almost human side of her. The Finch and Root moments were especially perfect. How this show just keeps getting better every week blows me away. And that moment with Root and Shaw "I love it when you play doctor." Hilarious.
Another awesome episode! Very much enjoyed seeing Root's side of things as she gets it easy with the Machine telling her where to go, what to do, who to grab, what to grab, etc. Also liked the Machine trying to get her to work on something... empathy. She may still be a bit delusional, but progress at least. Amy Acker is amazing.
Also, is it just me or... Root + Shaw? I like her little quips to Shaw.
What I want to see more is Root + Reese! They have only spoken once to each other up until this episode! Not counting the time she was ''Caroline Turing''...
I agree with Michael on this one. :p I think she read somewhere that flirting is a good way to get people to do things for you, and she's taking it to the extreme.
This episode was a real blast! I love Root as much as the rest of the gang. If Harold has accepted her after what she did now, I can do the same. This show is the best thing on TV currently. Nolan is giving me a ride I won't soon forget.
I'm not sure Harold has accepted her really, but he has accepted that despite their differences - both morally and operationally - sometimes they may need to work together.
The enemy of my enemy etc.... Not much different than working with Elias to accomplish a goal.
I'm not a Shaw fan exactly and I do not like the character in every episode, but I thought a couple of the best lines of the night were Shaw's...
And while I am no fan of Root, Shaw;s dynamic with her makes those scenes almost enjoyable to me. I can at least tolerate Root and Shaw scenes where as Root alone scenes wear on my nerves.
That said, both characters could leave the show and I would not miss them.
Totally agree with you. A Root/Shaw team is quite awesome but a Reese/Root team up for one whole mission - it would be off the charts. Both of them don't like each other that much, have a healthy disdain for each other and have quite different philosophies regarding the Machine.
The limited scenes we got this episode were good and their argument over who was better suited to protect the Cyrus Wells was even better.
You have made a good point. I am just glad Harold is giving Root a second chance now that the Machine taught her a lesson. I am glad her ear got repaired. She will need both of them to help the team.
It says "threat to subject", so she might be the next episode's POI. Also the promo for the next episode includes a hispanic woman, which would fit with that name.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
OMG that was something else, love Root.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone else think there is some romantic feelings between Root and Finch?
WHAT THE ... EPIC ! Just one word . EPIC ! Amy Acker and Michael Emerson oh boy they nailed it !!
ReplyDeleteAs someone just mentioned over at POI discussion... you either trust Root or you don't. I never have and I just don't enjoy these episodes as much as I'd like to. That really makes me sad.
ReplyDeletewas root flirting with Shaw, or was that just my imagination

ReplyDeleteAre you the one who voted ok or awful?
ReplyDeleteRoot flirts with everyone.
ReplyDeleteThe flirtations are there, but unless Grace dies they'll never be a couple.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant, Amy Acker was amazing, this episode bring her definitely to make a part of the team machine.
ReplyDeleteSamaritan is coming, wow.
Awesome scenes with Shaw (Interesting that Collier try to persuade her) and Reese.
The writing of the show is so clever and cool.
With every new episode I fall more and more in love with this show. With the loss of Carter I thought the show might go astray, but Shaw and /root have come into their own. Amazing writing..
ReplyDeleteNever, no matter what I think of an episode, this is my favorite show and I ALWAYS vote awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteAll of Root scenes were the highlight but Shaw taking out Vigilance guys using a metal rod -even Collier turned tail and ran.
ReplyDeleteNot as good as the past coupel episodes for me, but Root is still my least favorite regular on the series by far. I just find her character so grating and annoying in large doses.

ReplyDeleteAwesome episode!
ReplyDeleteLoved all the Root and Finch interactions! You just gotta love it when these two go head to head. And always amazing acting by both.
Woah at Decima and Vigilance showing up again! Great to see them.
Did anyone else see "Threat to Subject: 78.24% Maria Martinez"? I wonder who that is.
Samaritan is almost here! Looks like the arc is finally moving along towards the finale. This is going to get intense.
I agree.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could enjoy her episodes as much, but the character itself annoys me on top of knowing she is psycho and delusional.

I see it more as siblings. They are equally intelligent, and they are related through the machine, but I don't get romance. Root and Shaw, maybe.
ReplyDeleteNone whatsoever!

ReplyDeleteFinch seemed very(dare I say) fatherly when inspecting Root's ear.
ReplyDeleteI was a(little) surprised at how light hearted it was, given the stakes involved. I like the new penitent practical joker Root.
ReplyDeleteIn my mind they were.
ReplyDeleteAnother awesome episode! You had me at "Root".
ReplyDeleteRoot, FBI:

ReplyDeleteRoot hitting on Shaw was just awesome !

ReplyDeleteRoot singlehandedly cancels out all the horrible, tiring & mentally draining waste of space Shaw is.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure Harold has accepted her really, but he has accepted that despite their differences - both morally and operationally - sometimes they may need to work together.

Brilliant eppy.
ReplyDeleteIncredble episode!! Man, this season is on fire!! Almost every episode has been better than anything else in any network on TV.
ReplyDeleteYou have made a good point. I am just glad Harold is giving Root a second chance now that the Machine taught her a lesson. I am glad her ear got repaired. She will need both of them to help the team.
ReplyDeleteThis poll needs an option for Epic. Seriously. This episode was just THAT. GOOD.
ReplyDeleteMuch epic, very awesome. Wow.
ReplyDeleteIt says "threat to subject", so she might be the next episode's POI.
ReplyDeleteAlso the promo for the next episode includes a hispanic woman, which
would fit with that name.
Definitely, my favourite episode of the season!
ReplyDeleteRoot is much too cute for me to handle. My heart kept melting away each scene, specially the scene with the snow. I adore her!
ReplyDeleteWho the hell would vote this episode awful unless they hate Amy Acker?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely one of the best episodes of the season, and right after the last one too!
Next episode looks like it's back to procedural stuff though X_X
EPIC!!! EPIC!!!! WOW!!! Just WOW!!!
ReplyDeleteSo much awesome in this episode, I am still processing it. And my love for Root has gone through the roof.
