Filled in some details that we did not know. Good episode!

  2. It was perfect.

  3. Where is "MINDBLOWN" above of "Awesome" vote?

  4. Awesome episode. They link every single episode of Kara plot beginning with before and after Ordos, just incredible. How amazing knows about Dillinger works style and figure out that Reese is a perfect match for Finch in this job, our 'man in the suit' always will have a heart to decide what is right and what is wrong, something that Harold first partner will never know.

Daniel is 'necessary' and knows the machine will use him is great. Can't wait to see him meet with Harold again.

How great is to see Control, Special Counsel and Kara back, at least for this episode. I miss all them.

It's great knows that Greer figure out about the machine so early and awesome surprise Shaw appears in that moment to clean the mess and kill Dillinger.

Root is back, I miss her.

This is definitely one of the best episodes of this great season.

  5. There are not enough WORDS to describe how great this eppy was!

  6. Great episode, per usual! Loved filling in some little details that we didn't know before, now able to see more players since we've seen them (like Greer, Control, Shaw). And more back story is always welcome.

And the end was great. Glad we have Root back after... well we don't really know, but likely following the Machine's will. Curious what the Machine is setting up with all these people Root is saving, perhaps setting up a team to take down Samaritan?

  7. So for the second straight season, writers Zeebroeck & Sopczynski have the honor of reintroducing Root back into the game. It's like you can read my mind...

  8. wow, this show never fails to wow me - another origin story of sorts that really tied things together, all the while setting the stage for Root's reappearance and the plot to come.... the one part that I was a bit fuzzy on was how Finch was aware of how "efficient" Reese was while he was still in the CIA, as I thought that they didn't almost cross paths until Reese's ex died in the hospital and Finch showed up at the end trying to follow up on a number by himself (or something like that), it's been awhile and I probably just forgotten, but nevertheless tonight's ep was just awesome

  9. This episode was nothing short of incredible. Here's my review here >> http://www.spoilertv.com/2014/03/person-of-interest-316-review-theories.html

  10. Mind blowing episode. Amazing flashback story that tied a lot of things together. I jumped up from my chair and shouted with unrestrained glee when Shaw appeared. (although the circumstances surrounding it were quite sad)

So, Daniel Casey is Necessary. Hmmm.

  11. This was a "Awesome" episode, wow!!

Going backwards to move the plots forward was brilliant!
Seeing Decima, Control, and Norther Lights all in action and trying to locate/ take control of the Machine before the series began added so much to everything I thought I knew!

It was a lot of fun seeing helper monkey #1 working with Finch and how he was similar and different the the Finch/ Reese dynamic. Of course one of the main differences being loyalty! XD

It was great to get more background to the origins of the show! Connecting this episode back to Reese and Stanton in China, Decima being responsible for the Dead Chinese, the origin of Northern Lights with Shaw, Control and even Root (although that bit seemed more forced to me) made for a very entertaining episode!

  12. OMG! One of my favorite episodes! Could not of predicted this specific out come of Mr. Dillinger! I want to watch it again before I comment further, but I love the tap dancing around each other/roles. And a bit intrigued we got a plot about a "staged" death!

Well put!`Agreed about Mr. Reese always having his heart in the right place, but I don't know if Dillinger is the "first" guy in the role, I believe Root implied that there were more than one before the time of Mr. Reese, but I would have to go find a transcript to see the exact wording...

  16. You need to add a "omg freakin awesome" for the Person of Interest's polls ^^
It was just absolutely great in every scenes, I can't stop loving this show !

  17. I don't know the bridge between events is to close, I mean Finch is recover from his injury, so after the explosion and I think Dillinger is the first and only, but maybe your is valid because have a part of the timeline between this event and the recruit of Reese back in 2011.

    ReplyDelete
  18. My thoughts exactly.

Finch had tried to do things on his own, got hurt, hire Dillinger, and then hired Reese months down the road. When we meet Finch the first time he has a couple guys as hired muscle, but no helper monkey! XD

On top of the tight timeline... Root is delusional!
She worships a machine and refers to it as a female.... Does anyone think everything she says is true and accurate? Not so much! XD

Ha! Good point, but so far she has been pretty spot on and the machine must believe in her and her possible delusions to some degree, thus making the machine a little delusional too? ;)

I agree that there's not a lot of time to play with, (and I'm happily surpised the way things with Dillinger worked out, because it wasn't Finch's fault), but also maybe it extends to Ingram, because didn't Finch take over on his work? Wasn't there an episode that revealed that he had been trying to save irrelevant numbers lives prior to Finch? I also wonder if Finch tried to do this on a smaller scale earlier in life...

  20. Well I would trust some stories or details from Root, but when she is taunting someone I would take whatever she says as hyperbole as a weapon, much like I would take it from other people as well.

No the Machine is not delusional. It is a machine. Even if it is a true AI as it seems, it is still a machine and not a living being. It is now - and never will be - neither a god nor a "her" as far as I'm concerned.

My guess is that Finch only began the irrelevant saving after Ingram's death and his personal recovery. From seeing Finch in the hospital unable to save Reese's ex, I thought at that time he was just beginning to play the role of hero. I never checked the timeline to see exactly how it plays out though honestly.

If I recall Ingram did create a backdoor. I think that backdoor was later tweaked by Finch to be the coded SS# spewing backdoor it is now.

Well I was half joking with that comment, but I do think the fact the machine does things that may [argumentively] go out of the purview of just doing what it's told and thus it may have it's own conscience...

"Well I would trust some stories or details from Root, but when she is taunting someone I would take whatever she says as hyperbole used as a weapon, much like I would take it from other people as well."

Perhaps, but until we see Root get burned by the Machine or The Machine does something it "shouldn't have done" (goes out of it's way to protect Harold again), I think the show makes a case that both perspectives (Root's and Finch's) of the Machine are true. I think the show walks a fine line between a Machine one can have "control" of and a Machine know one [single person or entity] can have control of [in which case would be no different than a definition of what God could be]...

I very rarely give the Awsome to an episode (I'm sick of those people, to whom this is the mandatory word for everything above mediocre), but this episode was Awsome in 100%. Now this is what high concept means. I bow before the writers because they either planned the show this far ahead or they have the imagination and the inner demand to use the elements of their mythology the most - they are incredible in both ways. And it was such a strong contrast with another show I watch, which also brought a "very important" episode this week (with way much hype before than PoI had), just to leave me with a heap of absurd turns and the certain knowledge that nothing what happened would have any consequences to the involved people, evrything will be completely forgotten for the next week.

  23. Mindblowing is definitely right! I like how this episode so masterfully tied up many of the old unanswered questions from the major storylines, as well as serving to show how all the main characters' lives, as well as major 'big players', first intersected. I normally don't like it when there's not much Reese in an episode, or even no Fusco scenes, but this episode was so well done. I liked the storytelling, I liked the case of the week guy (Casey), and I even liked that buddy of his who ended up getting killed (poor guy!). Dillinger was a well done character too. Although, I kinda think he deserved to get killed off. It was also great to see Manheim's Control, and John's ex-CIA partner Cara again. This was such a cool episode

  24. For ever 10 questions we've been asking since S1, they answered 7, and then added 11 more questions! That's why we keep watching!

  25. Yes Darth, we did see earlier that Nathan was trying to help these numbers at the very beginning and Harold basically thought he was crazy for doing it. Then the accident happened at the harbor and that is when Harold knew he must do something since he was blaming himself for recreating something that got Nathan killed.

  26. OMG!!!!!!!! Every time I think that POI is starting to get a little stale and boring it comes back with a vengeance and shows me why it is one of the best written shows on today. :) There is so much more to this underlying storyline that just amazes me. I loved seeing Shaw show up at the end to clean up for the CIA. Then we begin to wonder who the heck is showing up at Casey's secluded cabin and guess who?? Root is there to save the day/Casey before the bad guys come. I don't see Root as someone who is insane, but as someone who is being given the extra details from the machine to protect it from the bad guys at no expense. She is that added layer to help protect "her" from falling into the wrong hands once again. I see it as Roots new mission in life that the machine has given exclusively to Root.

  27. I LOVE THIS SHOW

    ReplyDelete
  28. is it me or is the machine assembling its own personal team for its own agenda?

  29. We have to skeptical of the things that Root says just as skeptical we would be of anyone who claims to speak to god. There is always tendency to exaggerate and overestimate your importance.

Whatever she believes her connection to the Machine is, the primary objective of the machine, I think, is just to continue existing. This is not a Skynet type situation here in my opinion. And Root is a perfect tool to utilize. The machine doesn't have morals or conscience in the way that people do. It just has programming and an inclination to leave as little a footprint as possible, and it has access to more data and more processing power than we do. So it sees situations and opportunities that neither Control, Decima or Team Machine do.

P.S. Every time I see a new Person of Interest now, I feel sad that I don't have the time to see the episodes as soon as they come out. They're so good. Season 1 was the best. There was a slight dip in season 2 I think but they came back this year better than ever. And the level of planning and structure the writers have put in to the overall arc this season...it's just astounding. Just the number of people and organizations in play right now, they could have easily screwed it up.

  30. I loved the back story of Finch and his first operator Mr. Dillinger, I loved how Root showed up to Casey's location 4 years later.
