So yeah, I already knew this, but Ted is the best person ever. Ease to the peas.
Utterly adored this episode. Ted and Robin’s exchange was beautiful, Lily and Marshall’s vows were incredibly sweet, the Mother was fabulous and hilarious as always, Barney’s breakthrough was great to see, and the use of the last slap was inspired (although maybe a little anti-climactic in execution ha). Great great episode. And NEED TO KNOW THE ENDING.
I am so freaking pissed right now about Robin having doubts and wanting to run away with Ted. Not cool to do in Barney and Robin's wedding episode. Thank God Ted was thinking rationally.
And we could have done without the Marshall/Lily vows (they were cute, though) so we could hear the Barney/Robin ones. But the end was so adorable (as was the ring bear) and the dip! The dip! They love each other so much.
LOL at The Mother and Robin getting to second base.
I'm not satisfied with this episode the last 20 mins was beautiful but I could've done without the beginning of it. Didn't realize till now that they were playing Sandcastles at the end but I have to re-watch to really appreciate this episode and not be really upset over how Robin was acting in the episode.
LOL. I don't care because my OTP just got married. I've shipped them for nine years and I am so happy they got to this point.
There was absolutely no reason for Carter and Craig to do what they did. I'm mad Robin said it, but I've seen worse comments tonight about her actions that I don't agree with. Robin just having doubts would have been okay, to bring Ted into it? No thank you. That was too far on the writers' part.
Ted and Robin was what the show originated with. They were that couple that always thought they would work out and always had great chemistry.
That is going to be revisited. Also, if you remember, Ted is based off of one of the creators. Maybe that's how his life went. Maybe before he met the one, he was on and off with someone else.
Okay, just finished it. Great episode, really great. It was natural for Robin to freak out and have second thoughts. Loved all the callbacks and Sandcastles in the Sands.
P.S: Am I the only one who is still wondering how and why the wedding date changed from May 25th to 26th?
Not going to lie, that episode absolutely killed me. I thought "Sunrise" was the emotional stomach punch this season was always going to have but I was wrong, it was that scene with Ted and Robin. It was played perfectly, and believably, which made it even harder to watch. I've accepted from the beginning that they would never be together but that doesn't stop me thinking they're perfect together, and the actors have by the far the best chemistry. Yes, Ted and the mother are absolutely adorable together, and Barney had one of his rare episodes where he's actually sweet, but that doesn't make it easier.
I can't wait for next week's episode, as well as never wanting it to happen. Ted deserves an awesome ending, I really hope neither he or the mother are revealed to be dead.
Once again, let's take away Ted, Robin and Barney. These fake individuals are based on real people. If they are retelling a story that mirrors their own lives, then maybe this is the way it went.
You're telling that no one in the history of the world who is about to get married doesn't think what could have been with a previous love like Ted and Robin? I'm not saying it's common by any means, but impossible? Definitely not. This show has been grounded in real life from the get go. That is a real life situation. Period.
The one thing that kinda made me worry, was that Robin said that legendary means not real, and at the end Future Ted says Robin and Barney vows were legendary. But maybe I'm just overthinking it.
Good job Ted! Even though I didn't like how you were constantly pining for Robin even after all these years, you finally realized that's not what you wanted and it wasn't was supposed to happen.
Robin, I understand cold feet, but seriously? After 5-6 seasons of practically no romantic interest in Ted, now you decide to bring on this gushy "we should be together" stuff? I had hoped the Ted/Robin stuff ended in that episode with them on the beach, it shouldn't have ever been an issue this late into the game.
Other than that, decent episode. Some funny lines with Barney and Marshall/Lily. The wedding... it was nice... but after dragging out the entire season for just the wedding weekend... really? The wedding should've been last week, then this week and next week could be the reception and showing us the future.
Also liked how the final slap happened. Quick. Unexpected. Much better than the Slapsgiving 3 episode earlier this season (although it's hard to get worse than it).
Even now I still do't buy that. Ted probably still has some lingering feelings, but he's too good of a friend to do that to Barney and knows better than thinking Robin's words were more than just a freakout.
Not to mention, a third runaway bride? Who wants to be known as that guy?
The final season hasn't been the greatest one but they've had some truly excellent episodes. This was easily one of them. Almost every line elicited some great emotions.
Let's cut Robin some slack here. All her insecurities are things that fans have been pointing out all year. They needed to be addressed, and I'm glad they were.
Robin in her freak out just slid back ..But cobie did a great job in bringing that out. It was a complete freak out and I get it. But Man did they use the episode very well. Even for the final slap. That ceremony and vows are absolutely great. Only one more episode that's too hard to digest. Waiting for Ted to met the Mother officially ..
Excellent episode, finally people will (hopefully) let go of the most ridiculous idea fans of this show ever had - Ted being with Robin. Finally, it won't happen. I am so relieved.
Wether you like Barney and Robin or not, Barney coming clean about the locket because he finally came to the realization that he needs to be honest with her above everything else is what ultimately got him the girl (that's what really calmed her down) is kinda nice. Almost poetic.
Okay! Now that we've finally gotten that stupid wedding out of the way after it drag on for 22 episodes, maybe we can finally get on with the good stuff in the series finale!
Exactly, and you don't marry a guy like Barney without having a massive freak out beforehand. Any right-minded person would be terrified of marrying him having watched what he's done the past eight years, even after the truth vow I wouldn't 100% trust him.
Exactly. That one short promise did more for my faith in them as a couple than the last 2 seasons worth of episodes. Do I still care for them as a couple that much? Not really, but I at least have some evidence that they could realistically MAKE it as a couple with that vow, and that's really all I needed to see.
This. Under that tough badass woman, there is a fragile girl that still cry over her father not loving her. She will always have doubts about being loved, and about trusting a man. It doesn't matter, because Barney can show her every day that everything is ok.
We people have different needs, some of them we even don't acknowledge. The key is finding that other one who can fulfill what we need the most. Robin needs honesty, so she can believe Barney really love her. And he just vow to be honest with her by himself, without any pressure or advice. So finally she believe in him, and in them.
Excellent episode! Definitely one of the best in the past few seasons. Some more Ted/Robin closure which I felt was appropriate, really nice Marshall/Lily scenes and the ring bear! Amazing. Really emotional, too!
I agree. it has been the longest most annoying will they/won't they in the history of all television, especially since we have known from the pilot it was never going to be Robin haha
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
So yeah, I already knew this, but Ted is the best person ever. Ease to the peas.

So not ready for the end.
I missed the first 10 mins, but what I saw was great, I was almost crying by the end.
ReplyDeleteYour bashing of Robin's thinking is a sickening. Along with your Barney/Robin shipping.
ReplyDeleteI'm not satisfied with this episode the last 20 mins was beautiful but I could've done without the beginning of it. Awesome episode, made me cry. I hated Robin quite a lot on the first half, but then everything worked out for the better

There was no reason to revisit it in the episode where Barney and Robin are marrying!

I kind agree with this. I am not a T/R shippper in any ways, but they had to revisit T/R one last time to show that Ted was completely over Robin.
ReplyDeleteBut that's something that happened in the episode where Ted let Robin go. That should have been the end of it.

Yeah, I know what you mean, but in this episode, we see that given the oppurrunity to be with Robin, Ted releaized that he didn't want that anymore.
ReplyDeleteGood job Ted! Even though I didn't like how you were constantly pining for Robin even after all these years, you finally realized that's not what you wanted and it wasn't was supposed to happen.

ReplyDeleteRight? I loved this episode, but when I saw the "1 minute until wedding" I was like "Sweet merciful heavens, FINALLY!!!!"
ReplyDeleteThe scene with Lily/Marshall and the bagel and cream cheese killed me. I laughed so hard, it was so unexpected. I still laugh thinking about it.
