good ep, if a bit confusing between the 2 Alecs and unless I missed something earlier - Kira can time travel now(?) as she was inquiring about finding the murderer of the other Kira from the freelancers and delivered the device from the bank, and apparently Garza from the future traveled back as well... how? kinda bummed that Garza called her debt even as I would've like a different situation for that to come up....
First, for anyone wondering, the awesome song at the end was "Crushed Pleats" by Dralms. Loved it!
Second, I've got to say, this show hits all the beats for me in terms of being weird, awesome and just so off the wall! :D I fall more in love with each passing episode.
Anywho, thoughts!
I love Emily/Maya and I'm so glad they saved her. However, I fear her death will once again happen. The only possible good in this is it might even have a chance to be more trans-formative for Alec and the show than it was before! :O ... That would mean self sacrifice. More complicated would be her sacrifice being an act of betrayal to one Alec and a huge life altering gesture of love to the other. Talk about complicated!!! If we're lucky, we'll get that story and we'll get the glimmer of hope that maybe she somehow escaped death.
Kiera will betray the "Freelancers" at some point. I have a feeling it will happen when they have decided which Alec must die. Despite all that's happened, I cannot see her wanting to kill either Alec. If she does, or even comes close to doing so, it will only be as a result of some clues to her death coming to light. I believe the Freelancers killed her younger self and did so to play the long game and convince her to kill the slightly older Alec. A good twist would see her seeming to take this "bait" and going after the slightly older Alec and making the Freelancers believe he's dead, only to turn on them.
Younger Alec is clearly headed down a dark road. Seduced by the power of running a company all of his own. He won't need Kellog, Kiera, Emily/Maya... This woman within Prion may be a Freelancer herself and seek to create the Alec that brings about the future with the corporate congress ruling the world. It would make sense for her to convince Alec that he needs none of his friends and show him that he has been lied to and betrayed by all of them (which he has). I can see this woman getting the evidence that Kellog and Emily killed his dad and then also tying Kiera to his death. Young Alec may just go about trying to kill/destroy all of them. The icing of his turn might see this Prion woman actually seducing Alec! :O
The slightly older Alec is an interesting storyline/thread. He made a mistake as far as Kiera is concerned, but did he really do anything horrible? Given the current turns in the show, he seems to be the right Alec to change the world in all the right ways. Which likely means he is going to die this season. As I mentioned, I see him being framed by the Freelancers for the death of the younger Kiera. See her on a path to kill him for vengeance and to save her future. This Alec would maybe even work with Libre8 and if evidence of it is presented to her, she'll head down the path of killing this Alec. I'd love to see a turn, however. Seeing her being unable to, but convincing the Freelancers that she has done so. And despite how wild and crazy of and ending to this season it would make it to see Emily/Maya seem to betray him for his younger self and sacrifice herself, I could see the slightly older Alec doing the same kind of thing in turn for Kiera. It might be the moment that changes Kiera and makes her not want the future she knows anymore.
Younger Alec would also be transformed by all this.
The crazy wannabe writer would love to see all that, but don't know if we'll see half of that.
... I should also add that like others, I see Kellog being killed off. However, not for good until he gets his chance to play the "big bad" on this show. If he and the Freelancers somehow survive this season, I suspect we'll see Kellog back on the show as that big bad that is trying to destroy Libre8, Kiera and change the world into the one where the corporate congress rules.
Continuum........Rachel Nichols, Lexa Doig, Luvia Petersen, and Simon Barry are........................AWESOME! I don't know what else to say except................MORE CONTINUUM! I'm surprised the storyline hasn't gotten overly confusing yet. Props to the writing team! 4 A LIBER8ED TIMELINE, I am still Nobody!!!
I hope Kellogd doesn't get killed off. Hes a fantastic wild card in the mix. I think right now, they will play the 2 Alecs out for awhile. I think whichever 1 gets killed, it wont be till mid-season or maybe even the season finale, and we could see 1 or 2 or 3 more large shifts in which 1 is the "right" Alec. Now that Alec1 knows about Emily & Emily knows about Alec2, I am curious to see where that will al play out.
This episode was interesting, It started off strong with MacGyver...errr I mean Lucas hatching his escape plan. Wonder why he didn't take that dog with him, it was so well trained lol. So, Alec1 knows about Emily/Maya, and Emily knows about Alec2, but Alec 1 doesn't know about Alec2. But Kiera2 knows about them all lol... or is she now Kiera1 since Kiera1 is dead? I am really curious to see where the Alec1/Emily/Alec2 storyline will play out to. Hopefully Emily doesn't die again....or we might end up with 3 Alecs (or 4 if both Alec 1 & 2 go back in time to save her, since theres now 2 devices) lol. Was refreshing to see Liber8 more or less back together. In the 1st season I wasn't too impressed with them or their storylines, but S2 they started to grow on me, now I find them a bit more interesting than the Kiera/Carlos/Cops side of the story at times. I could only imagine someone randomly reading this thread right now trying to figure out if they should give the show a chance, probably has a headache right now lol.
Following the last two I found this to be a littler slower. Not a bad episode by any means but didn't really do a huge amount to bring the story forward. More of a case of the week than anything.
I had hoped for the Garza/Kiera relationship to not just be reset and build up to something more interesting.
This was a great episode. I liked the scifi tech and the really cool, convincing special effects in this episode. The Escher labs alone almost made my inner techie geek drool. Lucas and his escape plan stuff was also pretty interesting. That mind control stuff from the beginning (future Kiera), and the bank robbers, was intriguing, and very cool scifi and tech. This is probably the most well-done, actually scifi show, that's currently on.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Not a bad episode. I think the writers have the opportunity to kill off Kellogg with this episode. Hopefully they take it.

ReplyDeleteyou missed something, but I don't blame you for being confused. I'd tell you, but it's better if you just watch these first three episodes over again

ReplyDeleteyou need to watch the season premiere to get whats going on with 2 Alecs, Kiera & the Garza debt.
