Truly awesome episode! Not as good as the first D&D episode, but that one is hard to live up to. I'm glad they chose not to copy a lot of the things from the first D&D episode and instead tried to forge ahead with different jokes and use of setting. Really fun.
Probably my favorite bit was Annie, as Hector the Well Endowed (so glad he got to come back!), just making obscene gestures in the big fight at the end with her... huge member. Also the Dean being Jeff's "son" was so hilariously fitting.
Agreed! Not as good as the first one, (and how could it be?), but still pretty awesome.
More highlights: Hickey interrogating Abed as both goblins; Shirley's departure, ("just remember, whenever the wind whispers through the woods.... You got me killed"); Neal "doing this and that in the background"; the, um, musical number; and the rather lovely ending.
Hickey interrogating Abed/goblins was so great! The way that was shot was perfect, and pretty much any time Jonathan Banks does his weird little laugh it makes me laugh for some reason.
All the little callbacks were great, like you said with Neal. They also had the Hawthorne Mountains and Brutalitops (Chang's character from the first one) Memorial Bridge. I love the little things and the attention to detail this show.
I really didn't like any of Annie in this episode. She's not my favorite character to begin with and they literally just copied everything they did with her in the first D&D episode.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

Also - can't believe I'd missed "Hector's" fighting strategy; that's hilarious!

ReplyDeleteWell, this was not funny at all.
ReplyDeleteWorth it!
