"DO YOU TWO NEED SOME COUNSELING? I'M A TRAINED THERAPIST!" #$%^&U^%$E!!!! That's officially my favorite scene through the entire series!!! AHHHH!!!!! Omg,I rewinded that about 5 Times!!
It was REALLY great seeing Felicity's home. Freaking finally! Love the scene with her and Diggs. Everything about Diggs and Deadshot's scenes were great. And i LOVED Sara's scene with Oliver. The "together?" "Together." Line, then the zoom out, showing them two, really gave my that comic book feel. GA and BC kicking ass villian at a time! It was great.
Now to go back and watch that scene over and over. Hahahahaha I knew they wouldn't show her, but the voice and seeing the pigtails, and Waller punching the glass, was so comic/EPIC Hahahahahahaha. HQ orgasm!
- the Squad did already seem threatening to begin with but the moment they killed Shrapnel as punishment there was some consequence to the teams name
- Diggle being in the focus really works, his moral code did really shine out compared to this band of misfits and yet it fit right in
- Deadshot was brilliant as always, this mix of sarcasm and brutal honesty...
- Ben Browder actually reprised his role as Digs former comerade, render me surprised, I thought they'd just recast him
- I was kinda hoping for the episode to be less stand-alone but to be honest: I liked that. It was a good as hell filler.
- THAT'S how you integrate characters without having to pay your actors, I'm of course talking about Deathstroke here. Clearly wasn't Manu Bennett under that mask but it worked. In fact he had more presence than Moira and Thea and felt more needed than Laurel and Sara (get Caity and acting coach asap btw. she didn't have much but she didn't deliver anything once more) but more to that below.
criticism/nitpicking:
- Bronze Tiger felt REALLY underused, pretty much zero presence. I expected at least some more screentime
- Oliver, Laurel and Sara felt really unneeded, I know that Stephen is contracted to appear in every single episode but were Caity and Katie really needed ? The only reason I probably won't rewatch this episode again and again is the shipper pushing for Oliver/Sara/Laurel. Is it officially a triangle now ? We get it, Oliver and Sara are in love and Laurel is a hurt puppy. Get over that and move all these characters forward by further developing them.
- the big reveal towards the end, it has become a pretty annoying trope. Not every episode needs to end with some forced reveal. Because that one felt REALLY forced
So I guess Huntress vs. Canary happens next week ? As a out and loud Sara hater I'm obviously betting my money on Helena :P
I keep waiting for a 'and John Barrowman' to appear but...but...awww- It ain't easy being a Merlyn fan these days
What other episode titles do we have ? 'Birds of Prey' (obviously Huntress vs. Canary), 'The Man under the Hood' (I suppose some Oliver psyche exploration), 'Seeing Red' (apparently an episode focusing on the Flash since various future Flash characters show up, btw. the writers are forcing Flash in. What if the Flash fails to entertain CW execs ? It feels like Flash writers holding Arrow hostage) and 'Deathstroke' (duh)...
Looking forward to Deathstroke and Man under The Hood, the others....the lower my expectations the bigger my surprise if they rock
loved the ep, especially DIg finally got some substantial time! really liked the interaction with Dig and Deadshot, and showing the shades of grey for Dig.... got kick out of the hint/easter egg that might be Harley Quinn... a bit odd, but I'd love to see her
I think she will go stop Slade Wilson and then go back to business as usual but serious they just only indicate Oilver and amanada are old friends so she won't turn against him
I loved all the snarky interactions between Diggle and Deadshot.
Can we please have an ARGUS spinoff?! That would be awesome XD
"Do you cuties need some counseling? I'm a trained therapist!" LOVED that! I really hope Harley Quinn makes her debut in this show. I'm sure DC fans would go NUTS for that.
Oh shit at Amanda Waller helping out Oliver in finding Slade. Looks like Oliver needs all the help he can get.
This was a great episode! Loved seeing Diggle as the star of his own show and learning some more about him. I hope there are more Suicide Squad episodes. I like Diggle/Lyla more than his girl friend last season, they're more equals.
I didn't realize how tired I was of the Oliver/Slade/Sara/Laurel storyline till they finally got away from it. Not looking forward to getting back to it next week.
was any1 else creeped out by how amazing the actress was that did the harley quinn cameo, i mean the voice gave my chills by how perfectly in character it was.
-Loved the Harley Quinn cameo. -Sean Maher reprising his role as Shrapnel... wow that was almost pointless. -Did we know that Waller and knew Oliver directly and not just from spying on him? -Anyone else a little disappointed that the Deadshot/Diggle didn't include Deadshot mentioning who hired him to kill Dig's brother? -Also anyone else think the actor playing Deadshot is phoning it in.
Any ARGUS spinoff would probably be painfully similar to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Considering the low ratings for Agents my guess is no one is pitching an ARGUS show. Also remember, a lot of work is currently going into spinning off The Flash.
Not really my ep...I'm just not invested enough in Diggle for a whole episode about him. And I still think that Waller is miscast. The only positive thing about the Oliver story-line is that they ended the "I have to break up with you for your protection" nonsense pretty fast. I can see why others liked it, though.
I agree about the "reveal"...I noted a couple of weeks ago already that those do next to nothing to me. I never got the excitement about them, because they only serve to delay what we know will happen eventually.
Can I say Diggle's my man. I love Diggle and this episode made me realize how much I missed him this season. Suicide Squad became dangerous the moment they killed off sharpnel. Poor Sean Maher though. What a waste of great actor. They underused Bronze Tiger also. They should have given him one or two more dialogues. Deadshot and Diggle was a hoot together. Such fun dialogues. The whole mission was really fun. Diggle and Felicity scene was so cute. David and Emily has such an easy chemistry between them and it was there from their first scene in the foundry. At last they proved Felicity is not a pod person and has a home. Cute jammies:) Oliver breaking up with Sara for her protection and then getting back together was as annoying as Roy breaking up with Thea earlier this season. I guess they don't learn any lesson. At least Laurel seems to be doing well. But her complete acceptance of O/S relationship this soon makes me wonder if she is bipolar. Doesn't Laurel want to know why assassins was after Sara? Or has that been forgotten already? This episode proved to me Katie Cassidy is a better actress than Caity Lotz. Just don't make Laurel romantically involved with Oliver and give her something cool to do. She will be fine. The final scene between Oliver and Amanda Waller cleared a lot of doubts I had about how she knew Oliver's operations. When is Oliver going to bring in Felicity and Diggle on all the truths. He should have revealed his connection to Waller to Diggle in the Russia episode itself. There was no Slade/deathstroke except one scene but his presence was known. All in all Solid episode. Very happy this week
Not a shipper for any pairing in this show. Not a fan of Katie Cassidy at all. In fact I would love it if she is written off the show as Laurel is annoying. But still I believe Katie Cassidy is a better actress than Caity Lotz. I love Caity as Black Canary and love all the action scenes. But I don't connect with her as Sara as I don't like the way they have taken the character once Sara came back to Starling city and the actress fails to impress me repeatedly. Still she is much better than Colton Haynes though and I don't want her to die like Laurel.
And saying you don't like the acting of a particular actress is not attacking. Its just an observation while reviewing the show. Now if you are critizing her looks or call her names then its another matter. I have criticized Laurel's looks before as has many others in this forum. No one has complained of attacking the actress then or is it reserved only for Sara.
It was Harley. Definitely was. They even got Tara Strong to do her voice. The body was Cassidy though. i would've DIED if they got Arleen Sorkin. OMFG! that would've made my entire year.
Even though I knew Harley Quinn was coming to Starling City this season, I still loved the quick slip in comment teaser. Brilliant. Cant wait till we see more.
She's my favorite DC female villain. No one can touch her. (IMO). I dressed up like HQ for HaHalloween back in 2008. Even won the costume contest at my job. I can do a pretty good HQ voice too. (Probably b/c of my NY accent and I've been watching her since she came out in the cartoons). But I can't do it for a long time. About 5 Min. TopsHahahaha ha if she ever says on Arrow, "My puddin's back at Gotham, but he'll spring me from this joint soon enough, just you wait..I miss my Mista J" I will FLIP OUT!! Lmfao
it was great. Problem I have is...what are they gonna do when they actually do full scenes? The VOICE was done by 1 actress, the acting is done by a different person. Will Cassidy Alexas voice be comparable enough to Tara Strongs once she is fully visible? Or will they have Tara voice over EVERYTHING Harley says?
IKR??? Hearing it is one thing..SEEING IT! Totally different story! Omg, if she makes more of a cameo, all the fan boys/girls will talk about it forever. Live action HQ is too awesome!
The actress playing her tweeted a photo on Mar 11th of a partial script (couldn't see who was saying what fully) & she said she would be seeing Vancouver soon. So my guess is she is filming this current episode (I believe ep 21) since 20 would have ended 2 days after that tweet was posted. So she will definitely be in at least 1 more episode at some point. My question is, will they continually have Tara Strong do the voice overs? Or can Cassidy Alexa do a HQ voice comparable?
I know. I saw the script. Tried very hard to make out her lines...epic fail. Lol Even though HQ has appeared in Live action before, I don't count BOP even though I watched it b/c she didn't do the voice, and the show didn't even make it past the first season. And it also ended up sucking. So yeah. Anyways, I'm hoping that Cassidy can do the voice! I mean ok, she's a ballerina, she's got the body, DEFINITELY has that wide ass smile. But the voice, she's gotta do it. And I hope she's been practicing, b/c they won't keep her in the shades forever. I appreciate Tara coming in to do the voice, but I wouldn't like it if they kept it that way. I want the actress to do the whole thing.
I still want Waller to be heavyset, like she's suppose to be. That bothers me to no end. However, this chic is really pulling out the bitch/snarky attitude that is Amanda, so eh. It's not too bad. But it still annoys the crap outta me.
I don´t like it when someone attacks the actor/actress, saying that she looks stupid, or too fat or too skinny or anything like that. Their acting skills? That´s fine. Their looks? Not so much.
People who can´t see the difference between the character and the actor/actress scares me. They need help.
Cassidy and recently Lotz are getting a lot of hate, especially regarding their looks, on social media. It's really sad and disturbing. I don't know why the female characters and even the actresses on Arrow are constantly being pitted against each other, I guess the show itself is partly at fault for making everyone and their mother Oliver's love interest, but that doesn't excuse the shippers doing it and ragging on the character they don't ship Oliver with.
I get it. I am a little bit ashamed on how hard I was on Katie Cassidy and her looks during the first half of the season. I did not call the actress any names but criticized on her being skinny.
The double standards of this fandom irks me.Its alright for everyone to criticize Katie or Laurel but if you say you don't like Caity Lotz's acting or Sara you are labelled a shipper. God forbid the day some one criticize Emily Bett's acting there will be accusations flying everywhere.
Unfortunately, the heavyset Waller is a thing of the past. The Waller on Arrow is an adaptation of the one in the comics courtesy of DC's New 52 reboot a few years back.
I honestly don't care who the better actress is in general....I care if I think that an actress can pull off a role. Caity Lotz is for me the Black Canary - period. I also have the feeling that the negativity Colton Haynes gets is of the "good looking people can't be good actors" variation. So far he pulled off his role just fine.
It's not even the question of she is heavyset or not which bothers me...the actress they picked is just looking too young for the role she is playing, and she lacks the presence I expect from someone who plays with lives on a daily basis. Gina Torres for example isn't everything but heavyset, but I would believe her to be this kind of woman in a hard beat. This Waller looks like she is a freaky Friday victim.
We didn't know Oliver and Waller knew each other. I'm guessing Waller was the woman behind Fyers' operation on the island and think we'll find out how she and Oliver first met next season.
I wonder if, in Colton's case, the lion's share of the negative comments are from straight guys. Colton is the pretty boy model type who was on MTV's Teen Wolf (where he was shirtless as often as Stephen is here)... guys tend to hate those and always think they're crap actors who were cast to make the teenage girls drool. Mind you, he doesn't blow me away or anything but I don't think he has only one expression as many say.
It was an okayish episode, not as good as the previous weeks. I liked Diggle's storyline and the Suicide Squad but Sharpel and Bronze Tiger had no presence and it was a bit annoying. I did find myself liking Deadshot, and think he could become an ally to the Arrow team in the fight against Deadshot. Oliver pretty much ruined his connections with Bratva in this episode. Anatoli will probably help him again but his organization probably won't. It was interesting to find out he knew Waller, and I personally also liked to see how much he struggled with the presence of Slade and knowing he was watching him.
You're not the only one, I also had a tendency to get carried away and drag Katie into my anti-Laurel comments. I mean, like you I never said she was ugly, a skeleton, had a chin implant and all that, as some people did... but I certainly commented on her weight/appearance and how it affects her peformance (and her performane in general). I still think that's true - her face seemed less expressive early in this season, as if she got botox or something - but I should've gone easier on her. It's important that we differentiate between the characters, who we can bash all we want, and the very real people who play them. I know they say that when actors go into the business, they're aware of the "price of fame" but I still feel sorry for Katie and Caity for getting all that hate on social media. Even if they were terrible actresses, they wouldn't deserve that... people should keep their comments civil. I admit that my anti-Laurel, pro-Sara stance probably colors my perception. It's hard to avoid that type of bias. So while I think Caity isn't as bad an actress as some claim, she isn't as good as I'd like her to be. I do like her expressions and body language but a lot of her line deliveries are wooden. For example, that moment with Nyssa when Sara says she had to come back to Starling to see if her family was okay, and then that she can't go back to the LoA because "there's not of a soul left in [her]". Caity said these lines in such a flat, emotionless way. On the other hand, while there have definitely been scenes where I found Katie's performance wanting, she's done well in a lot of scenes since the beginning of Laurel's arc in 2x10. Not as well as Stephen or the seasoned pros like Susanna, David and Paul, but certainly decent.
Yeah. The fandom completely embraced Sara when she first appeared in 2x04/2x05, but since the kiss/sex with Oliver in the end of 2x13, the tide has turned completely. I guess part of it is Olicity fans being pissed off that she gets in the way of their ship after the first half of the season seemed like set-up for it, and part is how selfish Oliver and Sara are in terms of Laurel's feelings. I like Sara a lot but I feel she is being overused (some characters are better when used sparingly, on a recurring basis) and the Oliver/Sara relationship is just bad, bad, bad. Under different circumstances I'd be all for them. But as is, they both come off as absolute douchebags who don't care one iota about Laurel. Going to that dinner together... OMG.
The Lance family dinner changed everything. I think Sara as Black Canary is great, but ever since that goddamn awful dinner my love for Sara is tainted. It also doesn't help that she is being sucked in to the Laurel melodrama. I am still not sure what was the point of that storyline. And guess we will see more of it in next episode. *sighs*
I thought Caity Lotz looked extremely attractive tonight . It's just that they don't doll her up as much as the other actress on this show in terms of dress and makeup because she is a rough and tough character. Caity Lotz has been a wonderful addition to the cast as a female who is on par with Oliver in terms of combat skills etc and I don't understand when some want to pull her down for extremely disgusting shipping reasons alone.
Just look at the fighting practise that Caity was doing on today's episode. I can't imagine Katie Cassidy doing such scenes in my wildest imagination. This is a big reason that I don't want her anywhere near the Black Canary name. Who wants a poor man's Black Canary when we already have a kick ass one.
She's very pretty but since people are just looking for reasons to hate sometimes, they claim she has a "butt chin", a weird mouth, is always pursing her lips... I even saw a comment on FB in relation to Caity, saying "It's nice of them to support actors with speech defects" (I'm not kidding). It's disgusting indeed. In retrospect, I feel sorry for not having called these jackasses on their crap when it was only Katie/Laurel who was getting the hate. Now it's Caity/Sara who I like, and I've found out what it feels like to have your favorite put down all the time. If the show spent half as much time on the Sara/Felicity friendship we all initially rooted for as it does on the romance, things might be different. But instead of depicting positive relationships between women (like the lovely but extremely peripheral Sara/Sin), they prefer to go for the cheap shot of jealousy and romantic competition over Oliver. The obsession with framing every female in terms of her relationship/dynamic with him is destructive. Moira is Oliver's mother first, Thea is his sister first, the evil corporate shark who wants to take over QC ends up in bed with him after 6 episodes, Felicity's insecurity is about being jealous of Sara who's with Oliver, the fallout between Sara and Laurel is all about what happened with Oliver 6 years ago and what's happening now, the Huntress turned evil because she realized he's still in love with Laurel (and is going to tease Sara about how Oliver "dress[es] up his girls")... ENOUGH!
My problem with Colton might be because I have seen him in Teen Wolf. In Teen Wolf he plays a rich spoilt brat. In Arrow he is this kid who has grown up in bad neighborhood with difficult circumstances. Both characters look absolutely same for me. There is no change in body language or dialogue delivery. The fact that he is not given enough background hurts the character.
For the past few weeks I might have sounded like I hate Sara and Caity Lotz. That's not the case at all. She is an okay actress. Her strength lies in action oriented scenes. All her scenes with Quentin were well done. But as her scenes are increasing in the show FOR ME her lack of acting talent is glaring especially in emotional scenes. I should be able to say that without being labeled as a shipper or anti Sara. I have been called a shipper few times last two weeks because of this.*rolls my eyes*
They really should have avoided the breaking up getting back together story this episode and used that time to show Sara training Roy. More acting around action. Oliver and Sara's together dialogue still could have been included.
Do I want Laurel to become BC. Hell no. Do I think Laurel will become BC in this series some time. Yes I do. So I have taken a new leaf and is trying to keep an open mind towards Laurel.
It was the same with Laurel last season. Fandom hate actually mounted for her when she had feelings for Oliver, Tommy and the Hood. Unlike what creators like to think I don't think people like triangles much. By making Sara/Oliver a pair and showing Laurel's reaction to it they are trying to hang on to another triangle and they are using Sara only to further Laurel. Now I am really worried for Sara surviving this season. Any female Oliver tries to have a relationship either gets killed, written off the show, or become a drug addict.
When last week you commented on Waller and Oliver having a relationship I thought it would never happen. But after today I wouldn't be surprised if they have angry sex next season. LOL. At least we can count Lyla as one person who will not end up in Oliver's bed.
I checked out Stephen's facebook last day. OMG shippers are really annoying there isn't it. They would storm every post. Too tedious for me. I will stay away.
Yeah i am so not here for the triangles. Whenever i hear the words Lance+drama+Laurel lately it almost causes an allergic reaction in me. I just cant anymore. And seeing as Birds of prey will be heavy with Laurel, i am just not looking forward to it as i used to.
swanpride we think alike. I was just about to comment that Gina Torres would have made a better Waller just now. She was so good as tough Zoe in firefly.
My alarms went off when Laurel said her "I know you better than anyone else" line again - never mind that the gap between what they say and what is shown is now even bigger than it was in the first season, this insistence that Laurel somehow understands Oliver better than anyone else makes me very nervous. Never mind that the whole thing was wrong on so many levels. For one I have a hard time to believe that Laurel would suddenly change her character that much, or being able to overcome her own hurt to give Sarah relationship advice or even having the knowledge to read Oliver that well when in fact she never read him right during their relationship, and two this would have been a great opportunity to cement the friendship between Felicity and Sarah further by letting them both complain about Oliver's ridiculous hero complex.
They are again doing this with Laurel. Her emotions and feelings jump around episode to episode. At least that has become consistent about this character. How is she all okay with Sara and Oliver just like that. That's why I asked if she is bipolar. Where is that talk between Laurel and Sara about the years in between? Is Laurel not at all curious about the assassins that followed her sister? Instead of relationship advise they could have made the sisters have an honest talk with each other. And Laurel knowing Oliver better than any one. What a load of crap. She didn't even know him enough to realize he was not happy to move in with her. That was pre-damage Oliver. As much as I dislike Oliver/Sara pairing I can say that Sara is the one who actually understands and knows Oliver the most. Even she doesn't know everything.
They could have avoided the strain in relationship completely and simply kept that last scene between Oliver and Sara where he is concerned for her and they decide to face Slade together. They could have used the balance precious moments to show Roy training, Sara Felicity bonding and the sisters have a talk. But no theyhave to go for triangles.
I have given up on my dream of having Felicity and Sara becoming friends. They are not going to do it.
I already thought about this when they showed her in "Tremors". In that scene, she was walking on red high heels, which looked exactly like the heels shown in 1x22.
I think a lot of people don't realize that shades of grey exist. You don't have to either love the character/actress 100% and praise every single second of her on screen, or hate her with the passion of a thousand blazing suns and repeatedly cry for her departure from the show. So when you make a civil criticism of Sara, you get jumped as a Sara hater. The same thing happened to me when I spoke against Felicity/Olicity and I can honestly say it was one of my tamer, more polite posts (LOL). Just to give a prime example of the ridiculousness of people's dichotomized thinking, here's something I posted about Sara yesterday:
"I think (hope) she could leave to become part of the Birds of Prey, since next week's episode is titled that and she crosses paths with the Huntress. Personally, I think she's being overused anyway and would be better served as a recurring character who pops in every now and then to help the team out and is usually off on her own adventures. What that would mean for Laurel as BC, I don't know. I really hope we don't lose Sara because she's a great BC, but she is currenly being utilized wrong... that foundry has gotten too crowded." [I added the bold here]
And a reply I got:
"Yes lets get back to the show being the Felicity and Olicity show, is all some people want. Felicity has screentime in just about every episode yet there are no complains that she is being overutilised. The foundry is getting crowded, with what like 5 people, who arent even in it at the same time?, LOL.
Let the show go aheard and kill every other character or get rid of them somehow, so you can have your Felicity/Olicity show, will see how well that works out."
Honestly, it doesn't matter to me if Oliver is with Sara or Felicity or with the changing chick of the week. I also don't get why so many people are so hung up about this one scene. It's by far not the first time that Oliver acted like a douche or someone made a questionable decision in this show.
And while I agree about the "one love triangle after another" problem - that's not new either. I would be positive surprised if they got away from that, but I don't really expect it to happen because it's still CW. I can honestly say that this episode would have been much better without Laurel (and not just because her presence begs the question why she didn't ask Sarah about her past, or tries to hunt down Blood again), if the subplot had focussed on the team trying to deal with their fears and giving each other support. But it's CW, so it's naturally all about the boring love triangle instead of the more interesting team dynamic (loved the scene with Felicity and Diggle - was the high point of the episode for me).
I also suspect that this whole thing is a last ditch attempt to salvage the Laurel/Oliver relationship - first break her down and then let her turn up again as "understanding", perhaps add a few scenes in which she suffers so that the audience feels for her - I'm honestly surprised that so many seem to fall for this ploy.
Yes, I think it was a clue. We saw in this episode that this show does like continuity and I think they showed her red heels in Tremors so that she would know that she was the boss of Fyers then.
I love Sara and feel that Sara is the only Black Canary, I can and will accept but I do think she's being utilized wrong and what I don't get is that it's apparently deliberate.
I knew from a Colton Haynes interview awhile back that the omission of Roy from episodes and Team Arrow business was deliberate as it's building towards his big moment in 218...I guess this is where he has to deal with maybe going evil because Oliver has been ignoring him.
So when people complain about what happened to Roy, why all the focus on Sara joining the group and not Roy, etc it's the right reaction.
Then David Ramsey's interview talking about how the show is isolating Team Arrow and forcing a break between in group, so that's why we're getting Oliver acting like a DBag to Felicity, why the episodes have been Sara heavy etc. That's why 214 focusues on Felicity feeling insecure with Sara in the Cave. Apparently 217 is going show Diggle's reaction to Sara joining Team Arrow and 218 is going to deal with Roy feeling left out because Oliver is always taking Sara/Canary with him on runs while Roy sits on the bench.
This again is apparently a deliberate choice...to what end, I have no idea but, it seems that the complaints about Sara are the intended reaction..although I think they're occasionally being exaggerated by certain groups.
Now, is this a way for them to show that Sara/Black Canary (any version) can't be on the show full time because it takes away from Oliver and Team Arrow? Are they doing it to turn fans against Sara/Canary to make way for Laurel/Canary? (I don't think producers are that savvy/Machiavellian). Are they doing it to make Laurel more sympathetic by destroying Oliver and Sara and making them look bad? I have no idea but considering all other attempts to make Laurel likable to the fandom have failed this might be their last ditch attempt.
I hope you're right because I while I don't like what they're doing with Sara if it's to provide character growth for Oliver and bring Oliver/Felicity/Diggle into a better place as the Heart of the Show (which, is what David Ramsey was saying in his interview) than I can live with .
I agree. Instead of having a powerful and menacing presence, Waller just seems bitchy. Disappointed with the casting. And yes, Gina Torres would've rocked it.
I hate Gina Torres. So i'm glad she wasn't cast. I can't stand her. But i don't see this one as "too young", to me she fits in with the cast, as far as age is concerned. she looks like a 30-33 yr old woman. The rest of the cast is younger than her...and by cast i mean Characters. except for Diggle. But as far as Amanda Waller goes, yes i do feel she should look older to match the character.
Don't you guys think there is a pattern in which these writers write love triangle scenes. In this episode first Sara and Laurel talking Oliver comes Sara leaves the scene. Next scene Sara and Oliver are talking Laurel comes Sara leaves the scene again. Last season it was the same with Tommy. Oliver and Tommy would be speaking Laurel comes and Tommy will leave. Or Laurel and Tommy will be speaking Oliver comes and Tommy will leave the scene. Now with Felicity its different. Oliver and Laurel will be speaking Felicity comes and Oliver will leave the scene. LOL
Funny how three people can't share screen space together.
If this is their attempt to salvage Laurel/Oliver relationship then they are doing a pitiful job at it. If Laurel goes back again to Oliver after being with Sara again I don't think fandom will ever forgive her. I felt sorry for Laurel in HttD (everyone else was mad at her for throwing the exploding glass) and during ToD that aweful dinner. This episode I was actually baffled by her. Seriously where is her anger and curiosity. For once her anger would have been justified she doesn't have any? Whatever their motivations were by going this route they kind of dimmed my enthusiasm for Sara. If it was intentional on writers part good on them job well done. If not they did a spectacular job of ruining two Lance females for me.
I don´t care if you don´t like Caity Lotz´s acting. Feel free. I don´t particularly like Katie Cassidy acting either. And Stephen Amell was a bit wooden in the first season.
If one have a valid point for the way one think, and it is actually regarding the actress/actors skill, then feel free to criticize. And I don´t care if is regarding Stephen Amell or Emily Bett or any of the others in Arrow.
What I take offense on is when people say " Oh, she can´t act, she too skinny/fat /has too big boobs" Acting skills has nothing to do with looks.Period.
You can't say anything negative about ANYONE that those Felicity haters immediately accuse you of wanting the show to be about Olicity. Funny they'd mention "will see how well that works out" considering the first part of the season is MUCH better than the second.
All of Diggle and the Suicide Squad scenes were AWESOME!!! I loved it. Though, everytime Oliver showed up I got bored and wanted it to just go back to Diggle already.
Agree. Also, seems like all that made me love Sara just vanished, that independent badass woman became simply Oliver's girl and being Oliver's girl is all she is and does now, such a waist...
I liked Sara when she first came on but now I've had enough of her and it has nothing to do with Olicity. She's been over-used and over-used and while she's a good character in average doses, the Oliver/Sara/Slade story has taken over the show. Island flashbacks, present day, current action story and love story, it's Oliver!Sara! all the time, which is why I thought this episode was such a breath of fresh air.
What got me hooked on this show was the humor and fun that came on when Felicity did. Without that, the show drags. The stunt work is pretty but it's not enough to keep me watching.
It's nothing to do with Olicity as a ship at all -- it's that interacting with Felicity makes Oliver more fun, and interacting with Sara makes him more angsty and more of a douche, and all he does is interact with Sara these days. At this point, I honestly don't care about either of them. Let them spin off into their own show and leave me Diggle, Felicity, Moira, Thea and Roy.
I don't disagree with much of what you say. Sara is the kind of character who's cooler in small doses. As I've said many times, I'm rooting for her to go off on her own adventures with the Birds of Prey, which the upcoming episode seems to be setting up, and go back to recurring character status. She'll be much more fun if she shows up once in a while to help Team Arrow out, making her appearances something to look forward to. I just think the vocal and more blatant negativity towards Sara is the result of Olicity. I know some Olicity fans are nice and respectful and I don't mean to throw everyone in the same group. However, others are the Die For Our Ship (see tvtropes) type and are quite aggressive and overbearing. Fans who have logical and substantial reasons to dislike a character tend to explain them eloquently and civilly, as you do, rather than just shout "Kill her already, I hate her" and such. Also, I understand what you say about Felicity but I don't think the misuse of her character is entirely or even mostly the result of Sara's presence. It's been an issue all season long with Felicity making bedroom eyes at Oliver. I hardly fault her for being attracted to/having a crush on a gorgeous young billionaire, especially one whose sculpted half-naked body is on display around her all the time, but she's so transparent about it that it's embarrassing for the character. Worse, her crush doesn't seem to be affected any by Oliver's crap treatment of her. He's always barking orders at her like she's his lowly servant, rarely showing any appreciation for all she does for him, even when she puts herself in harm's way despite not having any combat skills. 2x14 was just an awful episode in this regard. Felicity's sudden insecurity as a result of Oliver's girlfriend being a presence at the lair made no sense unless it was really about romantic jealousy rather than her place in the team. That "I'm used to being your girl" moment = a crime against the character's dignity. So in short, I don't think Sara diminishes Felicity, I think the manner in which Olicity/Felicity is being written does that. I would have no objection to Olicity if Oliver started treating her with some damn respect and valuing her contribution (it doesn't help that he did that in the end of 2x10 and then immediately went back to his old attitude), and if she stood up for herself. It's too bad we won't see Barry at least until his own show has gotten off trhe ground, because I'd love for Felicity to forget all about Oliver and date Barry. I'm not a huge Barricity shipper or anything, I just want to see that she's not going to carry a torch for Oliver forever and can be happy in a relationship with someone else who actually respects her. If that's not going to happen, at least give Felicity more scenes with non-Oliver characters. Flesh out her friendships with Digg and hopefully Sara and Roy. Tell us more about her as a person aside from the fact that she's perpetually at Oliver's beck and call. Heck, even when she interacted with Moira it was all about Oliver.
All of this makes me fear that they introduced Sara as the Canary, realized how popular she was and how most fans would rather see her in the role over Laurel, and put together a (Machiavellian indeed) plot to tear her down and diminish her popularity. I mean, Sara is responsible for the fracture in Team Arrow, seriously? Does she make Oliver treat Felicity like an ass or insist on benching the frustrated Roy? Is it her fault that Felicity developed an inferiority complex over the presence of her crush's girlfriend at the cave? That's a cheap shot on the part of the show if they're going to frame it as the team's problems being Sara's fault when they clearly aren't, just to make us dislike her. All of that being said, I maintain that Sara should form the Birds of Prey with Helena and hit the road to go on her own missions. She's lost a lot of her coolness and excitement when she struck roots in Starling. Characters like her need to be used sparingly or the magic wears off. Let her pop in 4, 5, 6 or so times a season (with or without Helena) to help Team Arrow out. Otherwise, her character becomes too much of a good thing.
Laurel playing relationship counselor to Oliver & Sara was not only a total WTF plot, but cements once again that the writers have NO IDEA how to write this chararacter or who she's supposed to be. Even when she's more likable, her character doesn't make any sense. How fast did she go from throwing a freaking glass at Sara to not only forgiving her sister (and begging Sara not to hate her!), but accepting the sister and ex-boyfriend who cheated on her dating again to the point where she gives them advice? I'm sorry but that's never going to happen in real life, EVER. It doesn't matter how magnanimous a person Laurel is - no one is ever going to be so comfortable with their cheating sister and ex-boyfriend being a couple that they cheerily dish out relationship advice, never mind so soon after the double whammy of said sister A) coming back from the dead and B) beginning to date the ex. And as you said elsewhere, why aren't we seeing Laurel and Sara rebuild their own relationship as sisters after 6 years apart? Why does it all spin on the axis of Oliver? For a show with various female writers, they sure aren't writing women in a very feminist manner.
And this is not happening after one year or not even one month after ToD where Laurel blew up after knowing Oliver/Sara are together. It was end of ToD when Laurel decided to forgive Sara and go to AA. The very same day Oliver found Slade in the mansion. The Promise was 40 mins of the same day. So Suicide Squad is happening just one week after Laurel starting AA and she starts to dole out relationship advise to O/S??? WTF!!! I hope they show next episode she is not as stable as she is projecting. Why are we not shown Sara/Laurel speak about the 6 years they were apart? How can they move on if they don't talk about the past?
For all the dislike I have for the bold & beautiful love story of Oliver/Sara and the break up/make up/relationship advise this episode *rolls eyes* my favorite scene was when Oliver dejectedly tells Sara he doesn't know how to face Slade and she reassures him and asks him to take help. It was a beautiful scene with so much chemistry between the stars. They should have just kept this scene and avoided everything else. I will take Oliver/Sara over Oliver/Laurel any day. For all the screen time Sara is getting recently they are not putting any roots for her. They are not exploring the effects of her past in the current time and her relationships. It makes her expendable and that scares me.
Has Oliver ever treated any woman with respect? I am not saying he is cruel to them but he is so internalized he doesn't realize he is treating them like crap. The way he has treated and treats Laurel is the prime example. Not only Laurel be it Thea, Moira, Helena he is a judgemental and hypocritical ass towards them. In that respect Oliver treats Sara with more respect and kindness than any other female in his life.
I have to agree with Kathleen. I liked Oliver from the pilot itself and wanted him to succeed. But I started loving him when he brought Diggle into his Arrow buisiness and my love for him took root when they introduced Felicity. These two characters make Oliver look human and not a killing machine. We see his motivations and struggle through their eyes. His family also gives us another perspective but they don't know the real him. So when Diggle and Felicity does not interact with Oliver much he really comes off as an ass. This makes people think Sara changed Oliver and he became broody and an ass because of her as he is sharing more screen time with her. Which is not true as Oliver always was an ass. He reacts to pressure situations the same way all the time. Difference is previously he used to deal with it around Digg and Felicity now Sara.
Oliver isn't exactly Sir Galahad, obviously, but I feel that he's always treating Felicity as a servant, which I don't see with Diggle and now Sara. He seems to forget that this isn't her QC day job - he isn't paying her to do any of her work at the cave (although he could be nicer even if he did). She voluntarily joined his cause and has put her life on the line for it. She deserves more respect in my opinion. Just for example, the scene in 2x14 (god, that episode sucked) where Felicity is punching the bag. Just as Sara is asking Felicity if she's okay, Oliver walks in and barks "Where are we with the Skeleton Key?". First, it already doesn't make Oliver look good that a newcomer like Sara immediately picks up on Felicity's discomfort and asks her what gives while he's oblivious. Second, he doesn't even say "hi" or anything, just walks in and demands a status report from Felicity. Third, his next line is "What... are... you... wearing?". He says it in such a disapproving, condescending way, like he thinks it's ridiculous that Felicity is working out. I know Sara's comment about the leather jacket wasn't great either, but in the context of how Oliver treats Felicity in general (vs. how Sara does), I'm more inclined to regard Oliver as a douche for making such a comment than Sara. The fact that a lot of Olicity fans (not all - I've seen some complain about Oliver's behavior and say he doesn't deserve Felicity) don't mind this is especially odd to me because they're all HUGE Felicity fans. If this was Elena and Damon on TVD, for example, I wouldn't bat an eyelash because everyone hates Elena and thinks she doesn't deserve Damon, regardless of all the shit he does. So he could treat her like a complete ass and no one would mind (whereas if she says something mean to him she's a total bitch). But Olicity is unusual in the sense that the female character is the more popular one (shippers, most of whom are female, usually like the male character better), so if anything you'd think they would crucify Oliver for how he treats her. I know it may seem like I'm only against Olicity because of the Sara thing. I'm not. A few months ago, I stated that while I don't ship Olicity I would have no objection to it if done right, and that sentiment hasn't changed. Also, I wanted to punch Oliver in the face when he was bitching at Felicity for supposedly underperforming because her head was in Central City, and that was before Canarrow happened. The real problem with Olicity is that it diminishes Felicity's character. I can't respect her the way I initially did when she refuses to stop crushing on a guy who treats her like dirt and is dating someone else. If Flash/Arrow crossovers happen next season, which seems to be the plan, I badly want Barry and Felicity to have some kind of long-distance relationship. In light of what's happening with Olicity, I appreciate Barricity more and more in retrospect.
Yeah, Sara telling Oliver they'll face Slade together was a beautiful moment. Someone needed to snap Oliver out of his martyrdom. I think the producers said somewhere that they chemistry-tested Stephen and Caity before casting the latter, which they also did with Emily and Grant Gustin and even Caity and Katrina Law, and it shows. For the 10000th time, I will wonder why they didn't do that with Stephen and Katie who just can't generate any sparks on screen together. The "epic love" of Oliver and Laurel will never come across because of this. Katie had way more chemistry with Colin Donnell. Heck, since my main gripe with Canarrow is how hurtful it is towards Laurel, and she's apparently decided to be all zen about them, maybe I should be as well! :) There's just something about Oliver and Sara that makes it really hard NOT to ship them: how easy, natural, and drama-free (even in this episode with the lame "breaking up with her to protect her" plot) their relationship is. They get each other totally. They never have to pretend or feel like they aren't good enough for each other because they're both dark and damaged in the same way. I do get people's complaints that Sara is so much like Oliver she's almost a female clone of him, and I'm normally more for "opposites attracts"... but the immediate, unquestionable trust and respect Sara and Oliver share make them pretty irresistible as a ship. You see it when they talk and you see it when they're out there fighting side by side. There's something incredibly refreshing about the lack of tension and drama between them... they just understand each other and have each other's backs no matter what. If by any chance you watched Lost, Canarrow remind me of Suliet (Sawyer+Juliet - also both blonde, heh) in that way: a strong couple that could survive anything thrown its way because their bond is THAT strong, not some torrid romance full of teen angst and melodrama.
All the Lance mess aside there is something beautiful about Oliver Sara relationship. It makes me wish badly the Lance surname was not in the middle of their relationship. The problem with such perfect couples are that if not with good writers they tend to get boring in the long run as there is no mystery or trouble affecting their relationship. Which is fine with me as Arrow is not a romance based series. Oliver/Sara has the potential to be long term steady couple. If only writers didn't bring in the cheating thing season 1 or if they would have put some time into building their attraction once Sara was back in Starling.
I will just say one thing. I refuse to speak about 214. I HATED IT and I like to think of it as an anomaly. I am trying to erase desperate Felicity from my mind. Till that episode I was fine with the way they were taking O/F even though I used to roll my eyes at exaggerated scenes. After that episode I am not sure I ever want them together. O/F hasn't interacted properly after that episode. I am waiting to see how they interact in future. Its high time we see Oliver/ Felicity/Diggle exchange some meaningful dialogue together. I miss my original Team Arrow :( The sad part is they are not even trying the slightest to bond Sara and Roy with the team. They are all acting like individuals rather than a team now.
I agree that Felicity has been written badly this season with respect to Oliver because the writers want to keep people thinking about Olicity but they don't want it to actually happen, and since Oliver is the hero of the show, they had Felicity being all silly over him. Bad writing.
However, the producers have said repeatedly in interviews that Felicity wasn't jealous because Sara is now Oliver's girlfriend, but because she can fight with the guys and she has scars and she even knows science stuff which is what Felicity was good at.
ITA that Sara is best in smaller doses, and I also wish she would go away for a while now, and then come back.
I've been cringing at Felicity these last episodes, anything after the Shrapnel episode, because they've really been amping up the crush on Oliver stuff. (Absolutely hated the "You'll always be my girl", in fact, disliked Felicity that whole episode.)
I don't think she was written that badly before though. She stood up to Oliver when he was being a douche and she mocked him when he needed it. The problem is that once Sara arrived, the producers didn't want to lose the Olicity fanbase by keeping in teases for it. But since Oliver couldn't show any attraction to Felicity since he's with Sara, it all had to be on her side. It's really bad writing all the way, including the "Please save Oliver" in The Promise, as if he is the only person Felicity is fixated on and doesn't care about Moira or Thea. The old Felicity wouldn't have been like that.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Felicity get another love interest, but only after Oliver has broken up with Sara to make it yet another road block.. Until then, Felicity will only exist as a reflection of Oliver or Oliver&Sara, as she was in Time of Death.
I know what the producers, cast and crew said about Felicity's insecurity, but that's not what I saw on screen. I saw a woman who's never been bothered by her male cohorts being able to fight and take care of themselves unlike her suddenly getting an inferiority complex, because another woman can do it. And a woman who's dating the guy she has a crush on. I saw her wearing a leather jacket for the first time in a season and a half - when her crush's girlfriend often wears a similar clothing item (and it's one that supposedly signifies being badass), I doubt that's a coincidence. Also, what Sara did with the microscope has really been exaggerated by the fandom to claim that Sara is a Mary Sue, in my opinion. She recognized anomalies in the blood so she put the sample into the computer, which identified the MacGregor's disease. The part Sara (not the computer) actually did indicates knowledge in biology or medicine, not computer science, and certainly doesn't suddenly mean she can hold a candle to Felicity's computer skills. So again, something obviously gives with Felicity being upset about that - how many times have Diggle or Oliver performed similar tasks on the computer without her being bothered by it? Finally, I realize she was stoned but the fact is, when Oliver mentioned that Diggle told him Felicity was insecure, SHE said she's used to being Oliver's girl (instead of confirming what Digg said about how she's feeling left out because the others are fighters and she isn't). Straight from the horse's mouth.
If they really wanted to make it about Felicity's place in the team in general and not romantic jealousy, it wouldn't have sprung up at the exact point when another female joined the team for the first time, and we wouldn't have had all the stuff I listed above. Unfortunately, they seem unwilling to write women in a dignified manner and give them a life outside of whatever sexual/romantic involvement they have with Oliver. I was just talking to ODA about how Laurel and Sara finally reunited after 6 years, and the only thing they appear to talk about is Sara's relationship with Oliver (which is quite WTF-inducing in itself... yeah, who doesn't play relationship counselor to her cheating sister and ex-boyfriend who are together again a couple of weeks after said sis returned from the dead and threw her for a complete loop? Faepalm).
Oh, I agree with all of this. I think it's awful how they've written Felicity since Sara came on the show.
While Oliver and Diggle did use the computer before Felicity arrived, since she joined the team and updated the computer twice, it's really been her thing to do. Diggle was having trouble at the start of Blast Radius trying to figure things out while Felicity was with Barry. While I think it does make sense for Sara to be able to analyze blood, since she worked with Ivo, having her do it for the Team on top of being an amazing fighter and having all sorts of connects and scars was what pushed Felicity over the top. Without that, Felicity would just have felt like the odd one out. With Sara able to do science stuff too and the Clock King able to get past her computer walls, it made sense that Felicity felt like a failure.
I just wish that she could have ended the scene happy to be who she is rather than happy to be just like Sara, with scars and a leather jacket.
And I wish that everything didn't revolve around Oliver. That was the fun of the Suicide Squad, that for once it wasn't All About Oliver, except for the Oliver/Sara/Laurel plot.
there is a BTS photo floating around showing the face of the "Deranged Team Member" and it isnt Tara Strong. so they are going to need an amazing lip-sync actress or that actress hopefully has a voice close enough to Tara that could make a decent pass.
This happened to me a few times last week in different places. That's why I am annoyed at anti shipper comments lately. Comment on what is said on that particular post above. Don't imagine and generalize on what the poster must be feeling.
I do think that Sara is being used as a vehicle for furthering Laurel's story. They used Sara to show how much Laurel has spiraled. They used Oliver/Sara relationship to give Laurel an intervention. Now they are using Oliver/Sara break up to show how much Laurel has improved and is a bigger person. Its weird. No one can be that big of a person within 2 weeks of AA counseling.
Roy might go dark on 218 as that is the episode where Thea looks to be kidnapped. But is that reason enough to side line Roy so much. He was introduced to the team in episode 212. Now 4 episodes later the only time he is in the lair is in last episode and even then he has no interactions with any members of the team and not even Oliver. They should have at least shown Oliver training him.
I do hope you are right and there is a method to their madness but right now it looks like there is too much story to tell and they are racing to tell them all by the finale.
I have no idea what they are planning to do with Sara. Most popular prediction is they will kill her off as she is given more importance. But last season we predicted Tommy going dark and instead he died. So anything can happen. Roy dying now will not have any impact as he is almost a ghost now. This episode I found something interesting. Oliver is worried about Sara dying and she responds I am not that easy to kill. Diggle is worried about Felicity's neck and she responds if Slade wants to kill me he can. So is Felicity going to die? And why is Sara and Oliver not worried about Laurel? She has ties to both Oliver and Sara. Double win for Slade.
You know...shipper. They never like the character which comes between their favourite ship. And then there are the fan of Katie Cassidy who seem to think that if they diss CL, she will somehow look like a better actress. It's pretty tiresome overall.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt went by too fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletegive me some spoilers
ReplyDelete"DO YOU TWO NEED SOME COUNSELING? I'M A TRAINED THERAPIST!" #$%^&U^%$E!!!! That's officially my favorite scene through the entire series!!! AHHHH!!!!! Omg,I rewinded that about 5 Times!!
ReplyDeleteIt was REALLY great seeing Felicity's home.
HQ orgasm!
pretty good episode
ReplyDelete- the Squad did already seem threatening to begin with but the moment they killed Shrapnel as punishment there was some consequence to the teams name
21 was released today "City of Blood". Sebastian Blood wins the shortest electoral run in history?
ReplyDeletetotally forgot that true. City of Blood sounds like the end of the Brother Blood arc...hopefully. We dragged that thing along since episode 24 o.O
ReplyDeleteI figure they'll keep him alive until 223, big epic fight between Team Arrow and Team Deathstroke.
ReplyDeleteThat much we can agree on.
ReplyDeleteso I can't tell if Walker is good or bad......Diggle don't like Walker and Oilver know her very well.....I hope they tell each other they met Walker
ReplyDeleteIt's Waller. Not Walker. And she's bad. She's a villain.
ReplyDeleteloved the ep, especially DIg finally got some substantial time! really liked the interaction with Dig and Deadshot, and showing the shades of grey for Dig.... got kick out of the hint/easter egg that might be Harley Quinn... a bit odd, but I'd love to see her
ReplyDeleteI think she will go stop Slade Wilson and then go back to business as usual but serious they just only indicate Oilver and amanada are old friends so she won't turn against him
ReplyDeleteBadass Diggle centric episode!
ReplyDeleteI loved all the snarky interactions between Diggle and Deadshot.
Can we please have an ARGUS spinoff?! That would be awesome XD
"Do you cuties need some counseling? I'm a trained therapist!"
LOVED that! I really hope Harley Quinn makes her debut in this show. I'm sure DC fans would go NUTS for that.
Oh shit at Amanda Waller helping out Oliver in finding Slade. Looks like Oliver needs all the help he can get.
Sara's purpose on this show seems to be only that of delaying the Oliver/Laurel thing that will most likely happen in future seasons.
ReplyDeleteIm with you in the TeamHaterSara i dont get her, why the love for her, and the actress damn is like watching KStewart acting
ReplyDeleteThis was a great episode! Loved seeing Diggle as the star of his own show and learning some more about him. I hope there are more Suicide Squad episodes. I like Diggle/Lyla more than his girl friend last season, they're more equals.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize how tired I was of the Oliver/Slade/Sara/Laurel storyline till they finally got away from it. Not looking forward to getting back to it next week.
was any1 else creeped out by how amazing the actress was that did the harley quinn cameo, i mean the voice gave my chills by how perfectly in character it was.
ReplyDelete-Loved the Harley Quinn cameo.
ReplyDelete-Sean Maher reprising his role as Shrapnel... wow that was almost pointless.
ReplyDeleteAOS rating are fine they just against some strong tv show with high rating.....
ReplyDeletedeadshot did mention who hired him to kill diggles brother. he said "HIVE" in both the russia episode and this one.
ReplyDeleteNot really my ep...I'm just not invested enough in Diggle for a whole episode about him. And I still think that Waller is miscast.
ReplyDeleteThe only positive thing about the Oliver story-line is that they ended the "I have to break up with you for your protection" nonsense pretty fast.
I can see why others liked it, though.
I agree about the "reveal"...I noted a couple of weeks ago already that those do next to nothing to me. I never got the excitement about them, because they only serve to delay what we know will happen eventually.
ReplyDeletenot sure why the hate for Sara......can't people just watch the show without attacking the actress...
ReplyDeleteCan I say Diggle's my man.
ReplyDeleteDiggle and Felicity scene was so cute. David and Emily has such an easy chemistry between them and it was there from their first scene in the foundry. At last they proved Felicity is not a pod person and has a home. Cute jammies:)
Oliver breaking up with Sara for her protection and then getting back together was as annoying as Roy breaking up with Thea earlier this season.
ReplyDeleteAnd saying you don't like the acting of a particular actress is not attacking. Its just an observation while reviewing the show. Now if you are critizing her looks or call her names then its another matter. I have criticized Laurel's looks before as has many others in this forum. No one has complained of attacking the actress then or is it reserved only for Sara.
Hahahaha that's what you think. = P. I know her, they don't call her a villain for nothing.
ReplyDeleteDC fans went NUTS with seeing her in the promo. It's already done. Most of them died and went to DC heaven tonight. HahahHahahaha
ReplyDeleteIt was Harley. Definitely was. They even got Tara Strong to do her voice. The body was Cassidy though. i would've DIED if they got Arleen Sorkin. OMFG! that would've made my entire year.
ReplyDeleteEven though I knew Harley Quinn was coming to Starling City this season, I still loved the quick slip in comment teaser. Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteCant wait till we see more.
Lmfao
ReplyDeleteit was great.
ReplyDeleteProblem I have is...what are they gonna do when they actually do full scenes?
The VOICE was done by 1 actress, the acting is done by a different person.
Will Cassidy Alexas voice be comparable enough to Tara Strongs once she is fully visible? Or will they have Tara voice over EVERYTHING Harley says?
IKR??? Hearing it is one thing..SEEING IT! Totally different story! Omg, if she makes more of a cameo, all the fan boys/girls will talk about it forever. Live action HQ is too awesome!
ReplyDeleteThe actress playing her tweeted a photo on Mar 11th of a partial script (couldn't see who was saying what fully) & she said she would be seeing Vancouver soon.
ReplyDeleteSo my guess is she is filming this current episode (I believe ep 21) since 20 would have ended 2 days after that tweet was posted.
ReplyDeleteI still want Waller to be heavyset, like she's suppose to be. That bothers me to no end. However, this chic is really pulling out the bitch/snarky attitude that is Amanda, so eh. It's not too bad. But it still annoys the crap outta me.
ReplyDeleteUhm, what love? All I see is hate for Sara and the actress that plays her.
ReplyDeleteI don´t like it when someone attacks the actor/actress, saying that she looks stupid, or too fat or too skinny or anything like that. Their acting skills? That´s fine. Their looks? Not so much.
ReplyDeletePeople who can´t see the difference between the character and the actor/actress scares me. They need help.
Not saying you are like that O D A.
ReplyDeleteI get it. I am a little bit ashamed on how hard I was on Katie Cassidy and her looks during the first half of the season. I did not call the actress any names but criticized on her being skinny.
ReplyDeleteThe double standards of this fandom irks me.Its alright for everyone to criticize Katie or Laurel but if you say you don't like Caity Lotz's acting or Sara you are labelled a shipper. God forbid the day some one criticize Emily Bett's acting there will be accusations flying everywhere.
Unfortunately, the heavyset Waller is a thing of the past. The Waller on Arrow is an adaptation of the one in the comics courtesy of DC's New 52 reboot a few years back.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get Oliver and Amanda as friends. Amanda asked Oliver if he wanted to kill her. She is definitely a villain.
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't care who the better actress is in general....I care if I think that an actress can pull off a role. Caity Lotz is for me the Black Canary - period.
ReplyDeleteI also have the feeling that the negativity Colton Haynes gets is of the "good looking people can't be good actors" variation.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't know Oliver and Waller knew each other. I'm guessing Waller was the woman behind Fyers' operation on the island and think we'll find out how she and Oliver first met next season.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if, in Colton's case, the lion's share of the negative comments are from straight guys.
ReplyDeleteIt was an okayish episode, not as good as the previous weeks. I liked Diggle's storyline and the Suicide Squad but Sharpel and Bronze Tiger had no presence and it was a bit annoying.
ReplyDeleteI did find myself liking Deadshot, and think he could become an ally to the Arrow team in the fight against Deadshot.
ReplyDeleteI admit that my anti-Laurel, pro-Sara stance probably colors my perception.
ReplyDeleteI like Sara a lot but I feel she is being overused (some characters are better when used sparingly, on a recurring basis) and the Oliver/Sara relationship is just bad, bad, bad. Under different circumstances I'd be all for them. But as is, they both come off as absolute douchebags who don't care one iota about Laurel. Going to that dinner together... OMG.
There is certainly room for improvement, but I root for the character, so the actor is doing something right.
ReplyDeleteThe Lance family dinner changed everything. I think Sara as Black Canary is great, but ever since that goddamn awful dinner my love for Sara is tainted. It also doesn't help that she is being sucked in to the Laurel melodrama. I am still not sure what was the point of that storyline. And guess we will see more of it in next episode. *sighs*
ReplyDeleteI thought Caity Lotz looked extremely attractive tonight .
ReplyDeleteI completely forgot that Fyers was working for someone else. It would be interesting if Waller/ARGUS was behind Fyers.
ReplyDeleteJust look at the fighting practise that Caity was doing on today's episode. I can't imagine Katie Cassidy doing such scenes in my wildest imagination. This is a big reason that I don't want her anywhere near the Black Canary name. Who wants a poor man's Black Canary when we already have a kick ass one.
ReplyDeleteShe's very pretty but since people are just looking for reasons to hate sometimes, they claim she has a "butt chin", a weird mouth, is always pursing her lips...
ReplyDeleteIf the show spent half as much time on the Sara/Felicity friendship we all initially rooted for as it does on the romance, things might be different.
ReplyDeleteFor the past few weeks I might have sounded like I hate Sara and Caity Lotz.
ReplyDeleteCaity is not just attractive she is super hot. She doesn't need heavy make up. I never had any complaints about her look.
ReplyDeleteWhen last week you commented on Waller and Oliver having a relationship I thought it would never happen. But after today I wouldn't be surprised if they have angry sex next season. LOL. At least we can count Lyla as one person who will not end up in Oliver's bed.
ReplyDeleteI checked out Stephen's facebook last day.
ReplyDeleteswanpride we think alike. I was just about to comment that Gina Torres would have made a better Waller just now. She was so good as tough Zoe in firefly.
ReplyDeleteShe is even better as Jessica Pearson in Suits.
ReplyDeleteMy alarms went off when Laurel said her "I know you better than anyone else" line again - never mind that the gap between what they say and what is shown is now even bigger than it was in the first season, this insistence that Laurel somehow understands Oliver better than anyone else makes me very nervous.
ReplyDeleteThey are again doing this with Laurel.
ReplyDeleteThey could have avoided the strain in relationship completely and simply kept that last scene between Oliver and Sara where he is concerned for her and they decide to face Slade together. They could have used the balance precious moments to show Roy training, Sara Felicity bonding and the sisters have a talk. But no theyhave to go for triangles.
I have given up on my dream of having Felicity and Sara becoming friends. They are not going to do it.
Yeah, Shrapnel was totally pointless in this episode.
ReplyDeleteI already thought about this when they showed her in "Tremors". In that scene, she was walking on red high heels, which looked exactly like the heels shown in 1x22.
ReplyDeleteAmazing episode!! It was great to have Deadshot back.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of people don't realize that shades of grey exist.
ReplyDelete"I think (hope) she could leave to become part of the Birds of Prey, since next week's episode is titled that and she crosses paths with the Huntress.
*facepalm*
Honestly, it doesn't matter to me if Oliver is with Sara or Felicity or with the changing chick of the week. I also don't get why so many people are so hung up about this one scene. It's by far not the first time that Oliver acted like a douche or someone made a questionable decision in this show.
ReplyDeleteAnd while I agree about the "one love triangle after another" problem - that's not new either.
ReplyDeleteS02E06 - Keep Your Enemies Closer. 35 minutes into the episode.
ReplyDeleteI think Oliver is worrying about Sara but with diggle doing his thing...who is watching Felicity!
ReplyDeleteI love Sara and feel that Sara is the only Black Canary, I can and will accept but I do think she's being utilized wrong and what I don't get is that it's apparently deliberate.
ReplyDeleteI knew from a Colton Haynes interview awhile back that the omission of Roy from episodes and Team Arrow business was deliberate as it's building towards his big moment in 218...I guess this is where he has to deal with maybe going evil because Oliver has been ignoring him.
I agree on the overused part, my gripe with her is the holier than thou attitude and Caitys incredibly awful acting.
ReplyDeleteI could care less about Felicity or Laurel in that situation
Eh, I don't think it has anything to do with Laurel. It's about Oliver's journey and his bad choices, not about Laurel.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're right because I while I don't like what they're doing with Sara if it's to provide character growth for Oliver and bring Oliver/Felicity/Diggle into a better place as the Heart of the Show (which, is what David Ramsey was saying in his interview) than I can live with .
ReplyDeleteI agree. Instead of having a powerful and menacing presence, Waller just seems bitchy. Disappointed with the casting. And yes, Gina Torres would've rocked it.
ReplyDeleteUgh! it still irks me. But i guess it's all "new decade. new rules". (scream 4 reference)
ReplyDeleteI hate Gina Torres.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Sara is a kick ass, but she is not that great actress, she fails to put some emotion in her face, that is why i dont like her.
ReplyDeleteUhm... The actress and the character named Sara are two different people, yes?
ReplyDeleteOkay. But can you please point towards the so called "love" everyone is showing Sara? Would like to see it.
LOL
ReplyDeleteFunny how three people can't share screen space together.
ReplyDeleteWhatever their motivations were by going this route they kind of dimmed my enthusiasm for Sara.
ReplyDeleteIf one have a valid point for the way one think, and it is actually regarding the actress/actors skill, then feel free to criticize. And I don´t care if is regarding Stephen Amell or Emily Bett or any of the others in Arrow.
What I take offense on is when people say " Oh, she can´t act, she too skinny/fat /has too big boobs" Acting skills has nothing to do with looks.Period.
In tvline.com
ReplyDeleteHow much less CAN you care? :)
ReplyDeleteWell, nice to see that she gets some love somewhere. She sure is not getting it here...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link.
You can see ew.com or hypable.com too
ReplyDeleteYou can't say anything negative about ANYONE that those Felicity haters immediately accuse you of wanting the show to be about Olicity. Funny they'd mention "will see how well that works out" considering the first part of the season is MUCH better than the second.
ReplyDeleteAll of Diggle and the Suicide Squad scenes were AWESOME!!! I loved it.
ReplyDeleteThough, everytime Oliver showed up I got bored and wanted it to just go back to Diggle already.
Agree. Also, seems like all that made me love Sara just vanished, that independent badass woman became simply Oliver's girl and being Oliver's girl is all she is and does now, such a waist...
ReplyDeleteI liked Sara when she first came on but now I've had enough of her and it has nothing to do with Olicity. She's been over-used and over-used and while she's a good character in average doses, the Oliver/Sara/Slade story has taken over the show. Island flashbacks, present day, current action story and love story, it's Oliver!Sara! all the time, which is why I thought this episode was such a breath of fresh air.
ReplyDeleteWhat got me hooked on this show was the humor and fun that came on when Felicity did.
ReplyDeleteI just think the vocal and more blatant negativity towards Sara is the result of Olicity.
ReplyDeleteI mean, Sara is responsible for the fracture in Team Arrow, seriously?
ReplyDeleteAnd this is not happening after one year or not even one month after ToD where Laurel blew up after knowing Oliver/Sara are together.
ReplyDeleteFor all the dislike I have for the bold & beautiful love story of Oliver/Sara and the break up/make up/relationship advise this episode *rolls eyes* my favorite scene was when Oliver dejectedly tells Sara he doesn't know how to face Slade and she reassures him and asks him to take help.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Kathleen.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that a lot of Olicity fans (not all - I've seen some complain about Oliver's behavior and say he doesn't deserve Felicity) don't mind this is especially odd to me because they're all HUGE Felicity fans.
ReplyDeleteHeck, since my main gripe with Canarrow is how hurtful it is towards Laurel, and she's apparently decided to be all zen about them, maybe I should be as well!
ReplyDeleteI will just say one thing.
ReplyDeleteIts high time we see Oliver/ Felicity/Diggle exchange some meaningful dialogue together.
ReplyDeleteHowever, the producers have said repeatedly in interviews that Felicity wasn't jealous because Sara is now Oliver's girlfriend, but because she can fight with the guys and she has scars and she even knows science stuff which is what Felicity was good at.
ReplyDeleteI don't think she was written that badly before though.
ReplyDeleteIf they really wanted to make it about Felicity's place in the team in general and not romantic jealousy, it wouldn't have sprung up at the exact point when another female joined the team for the first time, and we wouldn't have had all the stuff I listed above.
ReplyDeleteWhile Oliver and Diggle did use the computer before Felicity arrived, since she joined the team and updated the computer twice, it's really been her thing to do.
ReplyDeleteThis happened to me a few times last week in different places. That's why I am annoyed at anti shipper comments lately. Comment on what is said on that particular post above. Don't imagine and generalize on what the poster must be feeling.
ReplyDeleteI do think that Sara is being used as a vehicle for furthering Laurel's story.
ReplyDeleteRoy might go dark on 218 as that is the episode where Thea looks to be kidnapped. But is that reason enough to side line Roy so much. He was introduced to the team in episode 212. Now 4 episodes later the only time he is in the lair is in last episode and even then he has no interactions with any members of the team and not even Oliver. They should have at least shown Oliver training him.
ReplyDeleteI do hope you are right and there is a method to their madness but right now it looks like there is too much story to tell and they are racing to tell them all by the finale.
ReplyDeleteAh, didn't hear that. Thank you. Guess it's time to rewatch season 2.
ReplyDeleteHarley Quinn all the way! I had to rewind that one a few times myself. Love me some Harley Quinn.
