THE SUN RISES ON SEASON TWO OF EL REY NETWORK'S
'FROM DUSK TILL DAWN: THE SERIES'
Based on Robert Rodriguez's Cult Classic Film of the Same Name,
Cable Network's First Scripted Original Renewed For 13 Hour-Long Episodes
New York, March 26, 2014 -El Rey Network, the general entertainment cable channel founded by filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, announced plans today to greenlight a sophomore season of the network’s first scripted original, FROM DUSK TILL DAWN: THE SERIES.
Based on the cult classic film of the same name, season two will be comprised of 13 hour-long episodes and will be shot in Austin, Texas, home to the filmmaker’s Troublemaker Studios. Marking Rodriguez’s first foray into television, the highly-anticipated program premiered in the US on El Rey Network on Tuesday, March 11th and premiered exclusively on Netflix through their run-of-series license in Canada, Ireland, Nordics, Netherlands, the UK and Latin America. Season two will also be available internationally on Netflix following the US premiere.
Rodriguez, who created the series and directed four of the first season’s installments, said: “This is a truly unique property and one that has really resonated for viewers. It has been a joy to bring these characters back to life and have the opportunity to take our storytelling to a whole new place. We look forward to going back into production later this year and are excited about raising the bar even higher in season two.”
Scott Sassa, El Rey Network’s Vice Chair, said: “Our decision to launch this ambitious original in just our first few months on the air was certainly bold but the payoff has been incredibly satisfying. As the television landscape becomes even more crowded, it’s important for El Rey Network to have a recurring and memorable franchise that speaks to our audience and allows us to break away from the noise of all the competition. ‘From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series’ is most certainly that kind of property and we are thrilled with the response from our affiliate partners, advertisers, viewers and the international community.”
The international cast includes: D.J. Cotrona (Dear John, G.I. Joe: Retaliation); Zane Holtz (Holes, The Perks of Being a Wallflower); Jesse Garcia (Quinceañera, Sons of Anarchy); Eiza González (Lola: Érase Una Vez); Wilmer Valderrama (That ’70s Show, To Whom It May Concern); Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights, G.I. Joe: Retaliation); Jake Busey (Starship Troopers, Enemy of the State, Identity); Don Johnson (Django Unchained, Nash Bridges); Madison Davenport (Save Me, Shameless); Lane Garrison (Bonnie & Clyde, Prison Break); Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day, The X-Files); and Brandon Soo Hoo (Tropic Thunder, Ender’s Game, Incredible Crew).

Wow, that was a fast renewal. We're only ep three. I really like the show.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised because I found the show rather boring TBH, I didnt even make it thrOugh the 2nd episode before I had to stop watching it because it was so bad.
ReplyDeleteHell yes. I'm loving this show so much.
ReplyDeleteEl Rey Network is Rodriguez's project so it's not a surprise.
ReplyDeleteand yeah, the show is awful
not really a surprise it's his network and his favourite franchise
ReplyDeleteI'm still being hopeful that it will get better once they get to the vampire bar. But ep three was too much talk, and I hate Seth's ex wife.
ReplyDeleteI sampled the first ep and thought that it was just ok, nothing great but not nearly as good as the original movie.... and heard that the subsequent eps weren't much better - perhaps I'll check out an ep later
ReplyDeleteGood news !!!
