Crisis - Episode 1.02 - If You Are Watching This I Am Dead - Review

On the second episode of Crisis, Meg set out on her own to get Amber back, Gibson finds the troublemakers in the group of children, and a phone call to the Pakistani ambassador leads to a shocking discovery.

After Meg got the phone call at the end of the pilot episode, she collects a large sum of money to deliver it to her daughter's captors. She delivers the money to an unknown man, who then gives her the keys to a car. Sadly, it's not her Amber who is in the trunk, it's a proof of life picture that she finds there. Meg gives the photo to her sister, but unbeknownst to Susie, Meg was tasked with bringing the photo into the FBI building. It was all part of the mastermind's plan.

As it happens, the Pakistani ambassador also gets a phone call with instructions. While being ordered to take a little box into the embassy, his larger task is to kill someone from the embassy and get his keycard. He gets help from Susie and Finley (who has been enlisted to help in the investigation) as one of the children's tracker is activated with the signal leading to the embassy. After getting the keycard without killing anyone, they head to a secure door which they unlock by using the card. Much to their shock and surprise, they find two Americans behind that door.

Later, outisde the embassy, Susie calls her boss to tell him their discovery. As she does so, Gibson activates another tracker, which was glued to Amber's picture. Because the picture is inside the FBI, the network is breached and everything goes on lockdown. Susie and all the other agents lose contact with the bureau, which makes them wonder what is going on. Meanwhile, Finley has a chat with a man from the ambulance who takes the two soldiers away, but then he realizes this man is one of the captors. When guns are drawn, Finley shoots the man while Susie takes the other guy from the ambulance out. They (and we as viewers) are left to wonder: what were these guys doing here?

Back at the mansion, Gibson puts the children to the test when a drone flies over the house. This leads him to finding two troublemakers: his daughter and her friend. Although he hesitates, he punishes the two by letting them get hit. At the end, he lets himself be reunited with his daugther Beth Ann.

This episode was a pretty good one and it built nicely from the first episode. It raises a lot of questions that I'm sure will be answered as the series continues. I am definitely excited to see how it it's all going to turn out!

What did you think of this episode? Did the shocking discovery at the embassy left you with many questions? Are you excited for this Sunday's episode? Then check out a promo and catch the third episode of Crisis this Sunday at 10/9c on NBC.
