Chicago Fire & Chicago PD - Amanda Righetti to Guest in Crossover Episodes, May topline rumoured Chicago M.D.

Mar 19, 2014

The Mentalist star Amanda Righetti is taking a trip to Chicago.

I can exclusively reveal that the actress will be guest starring as a pediatrician on upcoming crossover episodes of Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D.

A source tells me there's even been some chatter about a Righetti heading up an ensemble cast for another series, Chicago M.D., about a Windy City hospital. While another source says there are no plans for a doctors-based show, we can't help but think it's a great idea. Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. have been mega-successes for NBC and series creator Dick Wolf, so why not expand the franchise?

  1. Just stop already! You're pumping out spinoffs faster than CSI and Law & Order ever did.

  2. I think they should wait at least another season for another spin-off. Chicago PD just premiered two months ago.

  3. Although I like the idea, I think it's too soon.

  4. Yeah, even if it is true, there is no chance they will be doing Chicago MD for next season. It's pretty late for a backdoor pilot for Chicago MD.

  5. "Mega-successes?" Riiight. Another pinpoint accurate statement from the quality reporters at E! Online.

  6. You are talking about the site who knows nothing about ratings and say that their "save one show" poll helped renew several bubble shows.

  7. Why don't they just reboot ER?

  8. Because Dick Wolf doesn't own it.

  9. I thought he owned the world. ;)

  10. He probably thinks so too. ;)

  11. Righetti isnt a regular anymore, they took her and other actor out of the show. She is more of a guest star. They announced last year that this was her last season.

  12. according to imdb she has the same episode count as the rest of the cast ?

  13. Oh, really? I don't know why. She has not been in a couple episodes and ever since January, the episodes she has been in, she is only on screen for short period of time. Plus, depending on how the next episode ends, she may or may not come back for the rest of the season. But I do know this is her final season. There has been speculation about it being The Mentalist last season but I do not know if that is true.

Chicago Fire has been getting 1.9-2.1 the complete season, not mid 1's

  15. That's not what NBC see for it renewed both of the shows and Grimm!

  16. I like Amanda, but it's too early for another spin off.

Since a Chicago Fire spinoff talking started early in 2013 and it still ended being a midseason replacement, this is probably going to be developed at 2015 season.

I wonder the comparsions this show will draw to E.R.

In fact, Chicago Fire has performed steadily without The Voice, dropping from low 2s airing after it to high 1s airing after Biggest Loser in january and now with a comedy hour between it and The Voice.

Quite similar to its wednesday performance last season (around 1.6-2.0), which is solid for an NBC scripted show. Of course, not a mega-success.

  19. And i think they said Chuck one time. Even the fans conciders that sites like this, and people Michael Ausiello and Alan Sepinwall saved the show. Also with help from the product placement-money they got.

  20. Sorry, I meant to say Chicago PD is not much more than a bubble show. My mistake.

  21. So Predicted Chicago M.D. And It's Title.

  22. wow another spin off? well it seems to be working for NBC so why not? Then they can have multiple crossovers. Seems like a good plan to me.

    ReplyDelete
  23. why the ratings a decent so why not capitolise on it? If MD doesnt work out then no harm no foul. No one is forcing you to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  24. its not a bubble show actually ratings wise its doing better than a lot of NBC shows and especially for a 10pm show. Its also competative in its time slot.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Its a hit for an NBC show especially in recent years.

  26. It's not that difficult to understand. Spinoffs have an advantage. People who watch the other shows are likely to watch the spinoff. Technically that's not a bad thing. But that built in advantage does have a REALLY bad habit of causing other good shows to get canceled when a second season very likely would have made it even better. Networks are more likely to renew the spinoff with a wide ranging audience across multiple shows than take a risk on something new and different that merely needs more time to gain a following.

While no one is forcing anyone to watch, the mere existence of spinoffs increases the likelihood that new shows that need the extra time won't get it. And THIS spinoff is a medical drama, while the previous one was a cop drama, which are already a dime a dozen. They take up most of the airtime. Those two genres make networks take fewer risks, and allow very little room for the shows they do take risks on to gain a respectable number of viewers.

  27. It hit a 1.4 last night. It's doing okay, and better than NBC's Thursday comedies, but for a drama it isn't that great for a show only 9 episodes in.

  28. All new next season on NBC: "Chicago Law, a gritty drama about a public defender and his associates who are trying to prevent the violence they encounter on a daily basis from seeping into their private lives."

Y'all know a rumor is just that, a rumor. It does not mean it is going to happen.
It's possible this could happen but I don't think they could compete right now. And, I would welcome a Chicago MD with Hallie but otherwise...no thank you!

  30. It's so cold! They should do like CSI and just pick another city. Miami FD anyone??

    ReplyDelete
  31. honestly they shouldn't rush it

i think it would be best outcome for NBC to premiere the season in the first quarter of 2015 compared with doing it right now because it gives everyone time to be able to properly plan out a show

    ReplyDelete
  32. I like the concept of several genre shows being set in the same universe, I just don't like Chicago as a setting, yeah...it's a personal preference thing. I could definitely see Chicago Underground as a show centered around 'the other side' of the law

Now give me a GTA themed show with CSI like spin-offs and I'm game.

btw. isn't Righetti a regular on The Mentalist ? Guess it's dead if the actors already bail

  33. Chicago Fire is a moderate success thanks to its Voice lead-in. Chicago Fire is not much more than a bubble show since it is hitting the mid 1's. These are not "mega-successes."
