    I think Jeremy put her in the cage because she insisted on going after Clay by herself. Maybe they do go alittle more with the book this ep. In the book, she went totally nuts when he got captured.

    My guess, they will somehow wrap up the thirteen ep with Elena/Clay as endgame just like the book. But they are still trying to keep this love triangle thing going with Philip. Only two eps left, I don't know how they will pull it off.
