  1. super excited for this episode. When deadshot first appeared as villain of the week I was not much impressed. But now I can't wait to see him and Digg interacting. Digg and Lyla have some sexy times.. Go digg. ;)

  2. SIKED!! Aw man, it doesn't get any better than that. And out of everyone, the one person i'm looking forward to is HQ!! she's my favorite. And they better have gotten a good actress to knock her out of the park. I'm talking looks, attitude, and voice!! Hey Mr. J!!

  3. Damn, I kinda want to be a part of the Suicide Squad now. Looks like a ton of fun.

We're long overdue a big Diggle episode, although I wish they would give him more to do in general instead of having a Diggle-centric episode twice a season to make up for the rest of them...

  4. What they have done with Digg this season is kind of a crime. They clearly don't know how to juggle this many characters. Every regular character needs development through out the season. This season they are more interested in action scenes, villains and recurring characters. There is no continuity between episodes and characters are forgotten for several episodes at a time. I hope season 3 has more balance in terms of story telling.

  5. Show does seem to be bursting at the seams. As much as I prefer Season 2 to Season 1, they need to stop adding storylines and characters/organizations from the comics and invest more in the ones they've got. I mean, seriously, look at this canvas right now: we've got Slade's revenge, Blood running against Moira for Mayor, Thea's parentage and Malcolm obviously coming back sooner or later because of that, the Queen family drama because of Moira's lies about that, Laurel's recovery from her downward spiral, possibly more Lance family drama (let's hope not), Oliver/Sara, the League of Assassins, Felicity's stupid crush on Oliver that won't go away, H.I.V.E./Diggle going after whoever ordered his brother's death, A.R.G.U.S./Waller/Suicide Squad, the Huntress coming back and possibly bringing about Birds of Prey... yikes! Even with some stuff put on the back burner (like Oliver/Laurel), there's way too much going on right now, hence annoyances like Diggle being reduced to sitting ineffectually at the cave and Roy disappearing for a while after joining the team (even in 2x15, the way he was suddenly training in the cave and chatting with Sara seemed abrupt; we hadn't see him be properly inducted into the team, only Oliver bringing him there for the first time and introducing him to Digg and Felicity).

I know DC fans are going crazy with excitement over all the additions of characters and elements from the comics, but the show needs to stop, take a breath, and figure out how to resolve some of the existing plots before adding new ones. Right now, this season is a thrilling mess, but if they don't slow down soon, we could lose the "thrilling" part of the equation.

  6. Up to 2x11 except for State vs Queen I liked all the episodes and thought they were going some where. At the end of 3 ghosts when they revealed Slade in Starling city I was expecting the show to delve immedietely into Slade's story line. Now after the mid season break we had

Blast Radius - weak villain, Laurel starting her investigation to blood
Blind Spot - All Laurel episode. She looses her job
Tremors - Laurel's downward spiral and Roy got integrated to team Arrow (they disarmed the earthquake machine using an exploding arrow. In season 1 it took Det. Lance and Felicity so much time to disarm one)
Heir to the Demon - This was a better episode that brought Sara to town. But Oliver started his so called relationship with Sara. No Roy
Time of Death - A complete mess. except laurel and last 20 mins. No Roy again.
The Promise - The best episode after mid season finale. But we still didn't learn anything new.

It took 6 episodes for the Slade story line to progress from the end of 3 ghosts. Even now we only know that he plans to destroy Oliver. We don't know even one step of his plan. They took 5 episodes for Laurel to go down the hole and pick herself back up. They should have spread this story line all through the season. Instead they avoided laurel the first half of the season and then dedicated 5 consecutive episodes on her. They bring Roy to the team and does not show him integrating to the team and instead concentrate on Sara for two whole episodes. Roy should have shared space with Sara during Time of Death in the lair.

The show is so fragmented right now I am slowly loosing the enthusiasm that I had during the first half of the show. Every episode they are adding new characters and new story lines. Last episode it was Sin's father story line (I am expecting it to come up this season if not why show it), this week it is the reverend. I blame the mess of the past 5 episodes for the lowest rating that this episode got.

  7. I agree with every word of yours. When I mentioned State vs Queen I meant the trial portion which was horrible and didn't make any sense. I liked Oliver killing Count Vertigo and the personal growth he gained from it. But the trial was the only blip in a what was a terrific first half.

Time of death in my opinion is the worst Arrow episode. It kind of ruined the growth all these characters had gained in the first half of the season. It made me feel sympathy for Laurel which I never thought would happen. I didn't find Sara catty or patronizing but I hated the jacket scene with a passion. And she and Oliver came off as unsympathetic fools. They tried to make her too perfect. My main gripe with ToD is the fact that they made Felicity insecure to a point she wanted to fight like and dress like Sara. So what are the writers telling us a successful and educated genius girl like Felicity would want to be like an assassin. In what world? I will stop typing about ToD if I continue I will write essays about that episode.

Your points about The Promise is so right. I never thought about it in that way. They really should have emphasized Slade's anger is about Oliver's betrayal more than that of death of Shado. It would have made sense. But I don't think they were going that way. It was repeated many times in the show and during interviews that it was Shado's death and Oliver's hand in it is what caused Slade's revenge.*rolling eyes*. I sincerely hope they some how rise from this mess they have written themselves into. In season 1 the first half was okay but second half spectacular. This season its the reverse first half was almost flawless and the second half kind of meh.

  8. Agreed on Time of Death. I expected so much more. I could probably write the essays right along with you! There could have been so much more buildup and nasty things Tockman could have done. The best thing about Felicity's character is that they've seemed to recognize (up until now) that a female character doesn't have to be a fighter in order to be strong. It's character, not physical prowess, which makes a character strong. It gives *variety* to strong female characters. Geek (for lack of a better term) male characters are now perceived as being perfectly viable and strong; why not female ones? And that was where I thought they were going.
But I'm with you: why should she need to feel like Sara to feel she has a place on the team? Oliver *should* have spoken up but didn't. Digg was the only one who did. I mean, just as friends, you don't treat your friends that way, especially ones who've given up as much for you as Felicity and Digg have. And yeah, the whole jacket thing just made me gag. Meow, Sara? There wasn't any point in saying it except to be catty that I could see. Why should she care what jacket she's wearing otherwise? It looked good with the outfit.
I think the writers made the point about the betrayal (else why have Slade specifically call him 'brother' and thus, link him to Billy Wintergreen?). It's that Oliver lied, and why should Slade believe him when he says he didn't choose to have Shado die? In Slade's eyes, Oliver's a traitor. Kind of a finicky point, and you're right, not one they're emphasizing, but it's the one that makes sense, IMO. Doesn't help that Oliver's did such a crappy job of telling the truth when he DID tell the truth; we know it's probably because Oliver *does* feel responsible, even though he wasn't. But if I were Slade, I probably wouldn't believe him, either.
Agreed 110% with your last lines about second half of first season, great, first half second season, wonderful, and since 2x13...eeeh. Even 2x13 turned out to be a bit of a slap in the face. Face up to the Dragon Lady (which was *great*), earn yourself a possible fatal enemy and all but lose your friend, no matter the reason. Oh, Ollie, how we thought you'd gone for good...
    Thanks for the chat!
