    I hate how Shonda blew them apart, but Owen and Cristina is what brought me back to the show after I had stopped watching.

    some of these replies are surprising me so much, guess it's good to see some people enjoy a lot of the storylines I hate. Japril up there!?! (I hate myself for even using that name lol). I'm not a shipper at all, my enjoyment of a TV never has much to do with couples but Alex and Izzie were always my favorite pairing despite her treating him like shit. They seemed the most realistic to me.

    Haha, I don't know how you watch Grey's without being an invested shipper! And Japril is actually one of the biggest Grey's ships (as you can tell by the votes). I'm more surprised that Derek and Rose, and Callie and Erica are up there: couples that don't even warrant a portmanteau!

    There are certainly couples that I PREFER together - Mark & Lexie, Meredith & Derek, Alex & Izzie, ect. I just prefer when they can build storylines and characters that aren't totally dependent on coupledom. The "Japril" thing annoys me because I find both characters SO dull separately and clearly they're endgame, but now we're introducing characters JUST as obstacles for them (Matthew, Stephanie). Aside from these romances stories the characters are basically non-existent. If you've got two fully formed characters who make sense together & can thrive in stories outside of each other, I'm game.

    Example - Owen & Cristina were written AMAZINGLY in season 5. Then, well..

    I loved Alex and Izzie I don't think it was just Izzie treating Alex badly at the end it was Alex also treating Izzie badly. Ultimately they were great couple but also greatly flawed. As for April and Jackson I don't find them dull I guess it's a matter of opinion I do agree the Matthew Stephanie thing grew dull.

    I will forever love Izzie and Alex together despite all their flaws! And of course April and Jackson I love the fact they were best friends before they got together…. which they will do again!

    I really hate the way their story ended, it actually bothers me when I really think of it. Izzie just disappearing - which I know was Heigl's fault, not Shonda's - was such a slap in the face to fans and the story itself. Perhaps it's why I find Jo / Alex dull. Alex is my favorite character, easily, and while I don't mind Jo, she (like the other interns) are just SO vanilla to me. She seems to be written just to service the story, rather than as an authentic character. Hope my mind changes over time, for now I'm just happy Alex is actually front & center and getting some real storylines.

    I thought the exact same thing at first. I'm an avid TV watcher and can safely say that it does get funnier, more dramatic and just brilliant. It's now my favourite show...ever! :D
