EW has learned that CSI: NY alum Eddie Cahill has just joined season 2 of CBS’s summer drama Under the Dome as a series regular. Cahill will play a character named Sam, a former EMT and brother-in-law to notoriously difficult Big Jim (Dean Norris). Per a casting description, the character will also form a “deep connection” with Rachelle Lefevre’s Julia.

Cool, looking forward to seeing him on my screen again!
ReplyDeleteNo thanks to this deep connection with Julia!
ReplyDeleteIn a little while it is going to get ridiculous that there are people we haven't at least seen in a crowd shot in Chester's Mill. Where have these people been hiding?
ReplyDeleteThere are 2000 people in the town. They haven't shown a crowd of 2000 people.
ReplyDeleteOh look, it's Tag.
ReplyDeleteAs Dahne says below, where are all these people coming from? Someone like Maxine not popping up I can understand, but Big Jim's brother-in-law should be someone who isn't just randomly coming in down the line. And, especially considering the chaos in season 1, a former EMT would surely get involved, and therefore run into someone that we know?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, nice casting. Awesome in Friends and CSI NY.
Got to agree with you and Dahne. Why was a former EMT and the brother-in-law of the big dog in town just hiding out. A town with only 2000 people is very very small. One would think most people would at least know Big Jim had a brother-in-law. So the explanation as to why neither Big Jim, nor anyone else ever mentioned his existence, especially given how useful his medical training would have been, is going to have to be a very good one to suit me.
ReplyDeleteTo follow up my comment to Bradley below, if Big Jim's Brother-in-law is in the town, it would stand to reason that Big Jim's Sister is as well. How come we never heard about her being in the town? Was she mentioned and I just forgot, or did Big Jim, after seemingly apocalyptic events, just forget to wonder about or inquire after the safety and well being of his own sister?
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't necessarily mean Big Jim has a sister. Sam could be his wife's brother.
ReplyDeleteNo but the exact same people haven't appeared for every town shot either. He's brother-in-law to the Big Pyscho. Surely Junior Psycho would have talked to him at some point. Plus he's an EMT. Wouldn't he be kind of important in a town where people are dying on a regular basis from some contrived crisis or another?
ReplyDeleteHe would have been a good choice in helping with say the big meningitis scare of 2013 or perhaps in the beginning with all those people injured by the dome. No one bothered to show him in the big bomb scare? It seems strange to keep adding new people, especially those with critical skills.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I can think is that the borther-in-law hated the way Big Jim treated his sister and therefore there is some kind of feud between them. This being the case, he still would have been the town EMT at a time when the majority of the town's emergency personnel were unavailable. He would be a leading character in the town by now. Remember when they pulled in poor Alice because they had no one else to help with all those epidemic patients? Where was he then?
ReplyDeleteJust found some spoiler explaining why Sam was absent in Season 1.
ReplyDelete"Season 2 will introduce three new characters, including Sam, a rugged
gent better known to the locals as “the crazy drunk who lives alone in
the woods” — and who harbors a family tie to a familiar face." (Source: http://tvline.com/2014/01/07/reign-spoilers-greer-leith-season-1-ask-ausiello/)
Yep. Someone like Maxine is fine to hide for a while. Not someone like this guy. It does always seem strange with new characters in a sealed off town, if not for the fact that it's sealed off. At least with something like LOST they had flashbacks etc. so they could add new characters but just in the past. Maybe these people aren't actually trapped under the dome but there's some kind of secret entrance that no one inside the dome knows about. Of course, who would want to be in this dome?
ReplyDeleteI love how CBS has good relationships with Actor/Actress after they leave the network either due to cancellation or just moving on to different projects
ReplyDeleteEddie Cahill sure doesn't look like a crazy drunk.
ReplyDeleteThat is true, totally never thought of that. Wow, having a slow day mentally. More coffee stat!
ReplyDeleteI think it'll be related to the Dome rather than him falling for her.
