Well looks like i'm not the only one who liked Astrid singing and sharing her bucket list with John. With all those TP around her, i'm sure one of them could take her to Japan, or China or where ever she said. Scratch one off the list. My other favorite scene is when John showed Stephen how he met Roger.
This episode was full of great scenes so it's a particularly tough choice.
I voted for Cara saving Astrid and John. That sequence worked on all levels. It was well-staged and tense, Cara kicked ass like nobody's business, Astrid managing to help and even shoot the gun was great, I loved Cara's cleverness in drawing Ultra away from John by teleporting from the other side of the building, and finally, we got sweet John/Cara stuff. I've missed the Cara who would tear through walls if that's what it took to save John. Also, Astrid/Cara was a welcome pairing we haven't seen yet, and adds the Bechdel factor. (That last bit also applies to Cara talking Astrid through removing the bullet - with a little help from TIM, of course. :))
The bucket list talk and Astrid singing to John while he flashed back to Tony being killed were incredibly inspired and touching scenes, too. Letting Astrid interact with other characters besides Stephen really makes her much more enjoyable. The flashback John meeting Roger, who tells him he might need John to help his son one day, was a very sweet moment. And finally, Stephen's realization that Luca is breaking out opens a lot of possibilities story-wise - it's a welcome, exciting twist.
WORST scene: Stephen shoving Peter off the cliff. I don't even. What they were thinking when they had the "hero" of the series nearly kill someone just to verify something he had very circumstantial evidence at best of, I have no clue.
I picked the scene with John and Astrid. I loved the part where he got her to talk about her bucket list. However, I also have to give special mention to the conversation between Jedikiah and Hillary, where she asked him if he was going to kill Astrid and he answered "If I say yes and you smile, your next" . That line was just perfect, and made me like Jedikiah just a little bit more!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Stephen realises Luka is breaking out
ReplyDeleteAlso the opening. It scared the crap out of me. Astrid auditioning and...
