Supernatural: Tribes - Nathaniel Buzolic and Lucien Laviscount get Lead Roles

Feb 20, 2014

Thanks to Bruce_F for the heads up.
Aussie Nathaniel Buzolic and Brit Lucien Laviscount have landed the leads in Supernatural: Tribes, the planted Supernatural spinoff, which will air as an episode of the veteran sci-fi series on April 29.

Written by Andrew Dabb and directed by Robert Singer, Supernatural: Tribes is described as a sweeping drama about the various mafia-esque monster families that unknowingly to humans “run” the underbelly of Chicago and who are being tracked by a newly minted Hunter who’s trying to stop them and rid Chicago of anything or anyone supernatural. Buzolic plays David Hayden, a shapeshifter from one of Chicago’s ruling monster families; he has been living as a human, having given up the monster life years ago. Laviscount plays Ennis Roth. When his fiancée is killed in the crossfire of the monster war, the resolute police academy trainee learns the truth about what lurks in the shadows and becomes a monster-hunter himself.

  1. I'm a little disappointed. Laviscount was in the UK celeb big brother a few years ago and he came across arrogant, attention seeking and fame hungry. Hopefully that was just bad editing and he's not like that. It's hard to tell with Big Brother. But if he is. I just don't want someone like that associated with Supernatural.

  2. NATEEEEEEEEEEEEEE :D #yesss

  3. So happy for Nate, hope this show will be good, he deserves that.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I was really hoping to finally see a female in a lead role on Supernatural.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I dont know the first one

But im really happy that Nate got lead role, he was great as Kol. I was kinda hoping they would figure out how to bring him back in the Originals, but since this pilot has like 99% chance of being picked, im happy for him

    ReplyDelete
  6. I didn't like Kol but that had more to do with the way the character was written. So I'm ok with him.

I don't know the other dude.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I didn't like the concpet for this show to begin with. I don't know who these actors are, never seen their work so cannot judge on that front but they are relatively unknowns. Not looking like a good show to me.

    ReplyDelete
  8. There goes my hopes for Nathaniel in The Originals.

    ReplyDelete
  9. So he's the male part of the 'star crossed lovers' scenario, I wonder who will play the female lead and what kinda supernatural creature she will be?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Honestly I really don't like to see lovely pretty faces to act as supernatural characters in a SPN world, I don't like to sympathize w/ supernatural creatures in SPN! What's wrong w/ the TPTB? In SPN, hunters are good and supernatural creatures are dangerous, they're not allowed to play w/ this basic concept of the show after all this time.

    ReplyDelete
  11. This is an ensemble show. They haven't cast the female lead(s) yet, my guess there will be one who is a member of another ruling Monster family and she and shapeshifter guy will be 'star crossed lovers'. Ennis will be the main character who wil be caught up in all the shit.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I suppose not, but it's difficult to root for a character (a MAIN character) when the you've watched the actor on a show like Big Brother behaving like such a jackass. It's then difficult to differentiate the two.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Sometimes I wonder if actors also "play an act" when they're around fans. Not all of them of course...but not all of them can live up to the expectation to be humble, grateful, giving to the fandom of a show all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  14. The CW is all about the pretty faces :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. You could've made the same argument about Jensen, Jared, Misha, and countless other SPN characters... Having said that, I don't have much faith in this spin-off...even the title irks me. ("Supernatural: Tribes"... Please, please NO) I do remember seeing Kol from The Vampire Diaries. He was decent, I guess.

And if you're really going for the "hunters are good and all monsters are evil and don't deserve a say" argument, that went out the window in season 3 when Gordon Walker came to town. That's an incredibly outdated, and limited mindset.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I hope there is at least 1 female main character. That has been a peeve of mine for SPN. Out of about 200 eps, no actress has lasted more than 13 eps, which is pretty pitiful. Though Ruby lasted 17 eps across multiple actresses.

Either way, I will still at least watch the first few eps to see if I like it. No women isn't a deal breaker for me, but it is certainly a significant negative.

Small time actors getting big shots to carry on a name. Interested in seeing how they do.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Considering I don't know who either of these guy's are, that worries me. While I want the right actors for the parts, I'm hoping the next people they cast are people I know or at least have heard of. Don't get me wrong, I've watched shows where I've only known maybe 1 actor and the rest--to me--are unknown. It's just that I'd prefer to at least know somebody on a show I'm going to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Never seen either of these two, but nothing about their photos stands out. Two average guys.
The story-lines had better be good if this 'false' spin-off is to be a hit.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Agreed. Those who participate at Big Brother are usually people looking for their fifteen minutes of fame! Not a good reference for this Lucien guy.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I agree. There are supposed to be at least two female characters in prominent roles. I hope they will be announced soon.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I agree. I'm iffy on the premise of the spinoff, but that's because of romance and more "daddy issues", not the sympathetic monster element. SPN has had that since season 2.

And Jared and Jensen were angelically beautiful in the first season. I don't think any hunter in real life would ever look like Jensen Ackles. Fortunately Jared and Jensen were also great actors.

    ReplyDelete
  23. From what people have said, Nathaniel was good on TVD. I've never seen TVD, not much of it anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I could be completely wrong about him, but I agree with you. The fact he was on that show at all speaks volumes.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well his career hasn't ever been that great (if it had been he wouldn't have gone on Celebrity Big Brother) so that might have humbled him.

He was also on Corrie, and he had a strong personality/charisma, although he wasn't much of an actor. He may have improved since. He's going to be facing off against Jensen in episode 20 (I think Ennis and Dean butt heads) so if he's not great Jensen will blow him out of the water.

I thought they were going to have someone in their 30s for this role, just based on the description. I guess they don't want to take the risk.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I guess we knew it would happen but I'm a little annoyed that this show will be based on yet another dead lady and the resulting manpain.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The only show I am truly passionate about is SPN and that's all due to the chemistry between Sam and Dean.
That can never be duplicated without the J's, so mine is only simple curiosity as regards this spin-off.
i don't think it will be anything special but i could be completely mistaken and it might turn out great but it will never capture me as SPN did.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Haven't seen them in anything, but I'm excited for this. And please change the name.

    ReplyDelete
  29. plz tell me your joking you don't know who Nathaniel Buzolic is? lol

    ReplyDelete
  30. There was never any Hopes of bringing Kol back at all. Once an originals is killed that's it no way of bring him back. his body literally burned up into ashes

    ReplyDelete
  31. Not everybody watches TVD.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Bring back Kol? you must be joke right??

    ReplyDelete
  33. tbh i didn't know he the one who played Kol lol

    ReplyDelete
  34. Actually I have no problem w/ pretty faces, lol. You missed my point, I'm saying SPN is not a supernatural-creature friendly show, even angels who are naturally perceived as good entities has been tricky here lots of times. We've been w/ humans/hunters all the time and relating to them. W/ that mindset I cant suddenly change my heart and be a fan of werewolves and shapeshifters.
The whole idea is canon violator to SPN, it's more of an AU than spin-off, it was better if they had created another show w/ 'borrowing' some of SPN stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I know what you mean, but we can be positive (and I can't wait to know who will be the other leads) :) here's the proof : http://tvline.com/2014/02/02/supernatural-spinoff-characters-cast-tribes-the-cw/

    ReplyDelete
  36. I feel like they've been asking us to feel sorry for monsters since Lenore and Madison. They've often said that humans are the real monsters.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Well I can see what you mean. It's not going to compare to SPN for me, ever, but I'm hoping it can find its own voice.

    ReplyDelete
  38. While it's not the greatest show to be on, there are other actors who've been on reality tv shows before going on scripted tv shows.

Off the top of my head, David Giuntoli from Grimm was on The Real World and Jamie Chung from Once Upon a Time was on The Real World and Road Rules.

They do say that being on shows like Survivor, Big Brother, The Real World and etc is a good way of getting exposure.

    ReplyDelete
  39. This show looks like it's going to be blah! I'd rather see Nate on The Originals.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Have you ever heard about magical things known as loopholes?

    ReplyDelete
  41. True lol but i recall when they had flashbacks of the originals Kol was never there lol Rebakah.Klaus and Elijah along with their father and mother was seen in the flashbacks when they become vampires thus giving us the show The Originals based of Klaus.Rebekah and Elijah.

    ReplyDelete
  42. He lost his fiancée..ring a bell anyone??? I haven't seen anything Aussie and Brit did so i have no idea if they are good or not. Maybe it's just me, but i hated the name Supernatural:Tribes, really??I will give it a shot BUT this seems like a little TOO MUCH like Supernatural. I think It would be better a spin off based on Bobby, Ellen, Jo or even Garth, but anyway I will have to watch and then decide.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I was thinking the same.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I really don't like the idea of this spin-off, still wish they would of at least had a female mc. :(

    ReplyDelete
  45. You mean to tell me Sam and Dean, heard nothing about the supernatural ongoing in Chicago in all their years of hunting and solved the problem already... for this show to exist there has to be some opposition factorwithin the show and that factor just comes out to light now when ever this series is set. And again let say they been keeping low, and now they are coming out, can't Sam and Dean just deal with them in season 11... just saying...

    ReplyDelete
  46. Ennis is supposed to fresh out of Police Academy - I would guess most Police Academy grads are in their early-mid 20's.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Well, they're a little younger than I would've liked, but I can totally see Sam being a mentor to Ennis. I just hope they can act and have strong screen presence.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Big Brother etc are showcases that give young hopefuls a moment of exposure,

All the participants do their best to get noticed and some get lucky like the two you mentioned, so I suppose in their eyes it's worth a go!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Well maybe, but the more I think on it, the more I see similarities to the ep.Man's Best Friend With Benefits
    x
Cop who finds out from Sam /Dean about the supernatural, and who eventually embraces witchcraft, using it to solve crimes.
He ends up with a 'monster' side-kick in the shape of a dog/ woman, more dog thatn woman as she keeps the dog-collar on at all times, even in intimacy.
    x
An entire sub-culture of 'monsters' in that case witches, with their own clubs, social lives and familiars who can change into various animals.
The Cop/dog team even have their informants that report back about this witchy culture.
    x
Tribes seem to have taken this basic premise and elaborated on.
We don't know yet if the Roth cop will have a monster side-kick but I'm betting on it, seeing that another actor has been cast alongside him, indicating that the two are probably the main couple.
    x
However if I remember correctly, that ep got bad reviews from just about everyone so the writers better have tweaked the story to showcase better.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I was completely against a Supernatural spin-off & was not planning on watching, but now that we have Nathaniel as one of the leads! Really hope this gets picked up and is a hit. He truly deserves it. Such a nice guys aswell, always in for a chat and loves to spend time with his fans.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Does anyone else get the feeling that this isn't the beginning of a great show that's going to run for several seasons and have a huge following? I'm going to have to start looking for a new show to watch after SPN ends, and I'm afraid this isn't going to be it.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I hadn't noticed all those similarities before. This doesn't bode well. That episode is one of my least liked episodes of television. Hopefully 'tribes' will be far better.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Are you kidding, that is all SPN has been doing under Carver messing with canon, and the pilot is written by Dabb, directed by Singer.

    ReplyDelete
  54. With you on this, I would have much rather had characters we already knew about, but will check it out if it gets picked up.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Nate's character is supposed to have a sister who sounds pretty forthcoming and there's also supposed to be a werewolf chick in one of the main slots. I'm sure they'll be announced soon.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Kol was one of the best characters on TVD and is like no other. Having him around would add a very interesting dynamic for the rest of the originals and locals in New Orleans, but I guess they lost out on this one.

    ReplyDelete
  57. What's wrong with having 'relative unknowns' on a show? Actors have to become known somewhere and it's no fun watching actors you've seen everywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  58. 2 down votes awesome...not!

    One question you watch TVD?

    ReplyDelete
  59. LOL! So true. Let's see, we've learned so far that family is some overrated immature concept that can ruin the greater goal which is hunting; The supposedly monsters of the show are actually friendly and organized - who were being killed by the jerk hunters, poor things! The next thing we learn is that Crowley is God or the whole show was a dream or hallucination of some hunter wannabe guy!
It's like we never watched this show and know nothing about it, MOTW? Winchester 'brothers'?!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I watch TVD as a casual viewer and I had no who "Nate" played on TVD either until I looked the actor up.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Lol. That's actually quite an acute description of what Carver is doing to the show!

I wouldn't be surprised if he did come up with an ending like that.

It seems he's determined to undermine all that the brothers have stood for in the past, especially that 'horrid unhealthy bond' that makes them care only for each other and do the most outlandish things to keep each other alive!
    x
As for the monsters, many people seem to forget that Sam and Dean only hunt those who have killed humans and it's been like that since the pilot.
Let's take Amy, if she hadn't started killing again, no-one would have touched her, same for all the other monsters.
The Winchesters only only intervene when the monsters kill and that seems fair and just to me.

    ReplyDelete
  62. And I have a major issue (or I'm going to have) with Shapeshifters who can maintain the same "skin" - even the Alpha!Shifter didn't do that. (Just making an assumption here - we don't know squat yet about the Shifter Family's capabilities.) What are we going to get, more lol!canon, a variation of the 'werewolves up to four generations from pureblood can change at will" that was never part of a SPN werewolf canon until the horrible "Bitten" episode.

I also read that the script got negative reviews, which saddens me and puts a definite damper on my enthusiasm for the spinoff, one, because I generally like Dabb's writing, and two, because 9.20 is allegedly 'Winchester-like' and that's rare that 'it' works. 6.04 (also Dabb/Loflin) was also Winchester-lite but it worked really because it featured fabulous recurring characters - Bobby/Rufus/Crowley/Jody, while 9.20 could be a mash-up of the equally dreadful (IMO) 8.04 Bitten and 8.15 Man's Best Friend....

I'm hesitant to prejudge an episode (and a "series") but unless the reviewers were all wrong (about the script) I continue to be very leery about the episode and the spinoff. It could turn out great, of course, once the entire episode is cast and I will be glad to change my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  63. If you ever run across the reviews of the script again, could you link them here please? I'd like to give them reviews a read. To try and lower my expectations (which aren't exactly high to be honest).

    ReplyDelete
  64. I don't think the tenents of past canon will hold the writers back from adjusting the monsters' attributes to suit the needs of their stories; it hasn't stopped them since Carver took over, so lolcanon will definitely be part of Tribes, IMO!

Interesting that you have news of how the script was received.
I suppose it's sad in a way, because of it's conncetion to SPN, but I honestly didn't expect it to be good.
    x
I went to check up on the eps Dabb has written and I have to say he has penned quite a few that I liked, ASS, Unforgiven, Frontierland, Trial and Error. Weekend At Bobby's etc, but the quality of the writing for the show has fallen overall since Carver took over, and it is what it is, unfortunately.
    x
The fact of the ep being Winchester lite isn't that much of a problem for me in this case, for as a back-door pilot, one would expect the new characters to take precedence over the Winchesters anyway.
    x
However I do get MBFWB/Bitten vibes from this spin-off and it puts me off altogether.

    ReplyDelete
  65. For some reason when I read the original bio he sounded older.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I sad on another thread that this sounds like Twilight with werewolves and forbidden love. I've never heard of these two either so I'm not drawn to it because I know them. I still really don't like the idea, then again, I might be surprised and love it like I love Supernatural

    ReplyDelete
  67. The supposedly monsters of the show are actually friendly and organized - who were being killed by the jerk hunters, poor things!

Didn't we learn this in season 2, with Gordon and Lenore? We're not going to blame Carver for that, are we? He wasn't even with the show at the time.

    ReplyDelete
  68. A major part of that episode was a man having sex with a dog. I don't see the similarity here. The rest is pretty generic similarities.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Where are the negative reviews? You mean from critics? Where was this said? I'm not doubting you, I just wanted to see myself.

"lol canon" has been around since season 3 or 4, and people only tend to say that when it's a twist they don't like. As long as it's explained well it doesn't bother me.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I don't have any specific reviews link - I barely have a somewhat skanky site link that reported another source had read yet other source had reported that folks who reviewed the script said it was 'bad'; I'm reasonably certain if this third or fourth hand info is correct then 'some' posters on this board will have either a review up of their own or give a link to a review or two. The episode isn't due to be aired until late April; not many single episodes are necessarily previewed/ passed around to prominent 'blogger/journalists' as frequently in prior seasons but I should think this should be because it's a spinoff for a new show, where the 'network' previously frowned on any idea for a spinoff.

I'll try dig up that very brief report of a report if you want then edit this post.

    ReplyDelete
  71. The show has had huge canon issues since season 3 or 4. That's not on Carver.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Does that mean the site that tends to hate everything which isn't about Sam and Dean and thinks most of the show is terrible outside of Sam and Dean?

    ReplyDelete
  73. My main feeling would be it's impossible to tell that much based on casting news and a premise. I'm not expecting anything great, but it might be OK. I am very wary of breathless hype over something that is SUPPOSED to be a classic, so I'm not bothered that we aren't hearing this.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Carver has written for SPN off and on from 2007, in fact he did one of my favorite ep, A Very Supernatural Christmas. But he is executive producer for Tribes which does not bode well.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I agree... it's not much the Winchester-lite factor I'm dreading - maybe unreasonably - its it's the potential for a lot more canon - changing rather then canon adding. I really liked WAB and I even respect Robbie Thompson's "Bitten" for attempting to have an episode primarily told from the students-turned-'monsters' perspective. But the handheld camera stuff gave me a fierce headache and by the end I didn't give a fudge about any of the students - but I'm 'old' for a SPN fan and that may be just my perspective. There were fans who really liked Bitten.

    ReplyDelete
  76. He said in an interview a few months ago that he is just helping get the show off the ground. If it were me I'd be more worried about Singer's involvement, given that he's been there through all the worst periods of SPN.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Ha, I'm 75, can you beat that? Bitten is the only ep I can remember that had as many people say Poor and Awful as Awesome and good. I put that ep at the bottom of my SPN list.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I'm always happy to hear that someone who is in their 60's or 70's watches SPN or similar shows because it shows how stupid the endless chase for young demographics is.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I don't think that that at all; 6.04 Weekend at Bobby's was a superb example of a Winchester-lite episode that received the viewers and demo to which several episodes this year are just now reaching. This site is just protective of the Winchesters, either separately or together - it's the premise of the spinoff that makes some of us uneasy. To wit, it seems to me, like a mix of two episodes that were relatively poorly received. I'm not saying that I back all of Carver's decisions this year, either, just that several eps this season haven't received the viewer/demo totals since 6.04 aired.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I'm not talking about spoilertv - I meant the site that you said you saw the review at. The site I was referring to goes beyond protective and just seems to hate a lot on most of the show (and some of the cast, and the wives, etc.). But if that wasn't where you saw the review, my apologies.

As for the episode, I'm not sure what to expect. Backdoor pilots usually are not good. I think Dabb is a better writer than Thompson, and I didn't really like Bobby after season 4, so I might prefer this to those, but that isn't saying much.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I am the oldest in my group that loves SPN ranging from 52-75, there are 6 of us. lol
I get mad about the demographics that advertisers want, it is the seniors that have the extra money to spend, our kids are grown, houses and cars paid for, but no, we don't count unless erectile dysfunction is being pushed. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  82. Some of the most loyal fans of ABC Family and CW shows I know are in their 50's, 60's, 70's. I hope that the advertisers get this someday.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I'm not talking about spoilertv - I meant the site that you said you saw
the review at. The site I was referring to goes beyond protective and
just seems to hate a lot on most of the show (and some of the cast, and
the wives, etc.). But if that wasn't where you saw the review, my
    apologies.

Yeah, "that site", unfortunately - that's a reason why I didn't link it. I only started reading "that site" at the start of S9 because I was directed to it by several fellow fans. The 'comm' was giving very reliable spoilers - I only cared about the spoilers and did not even read their other trashy "gossip". But as the "ITK" spoilers 'dried up' that comm has become nearly as intolerant in differing opinions as the most extreme fans on IMDB are. Today I was called a troll and a "Destiel lover" (I'm NOT) for questioning some of the more extreme "Brother Bond" posts. I'm close to done with "that site" .

    ReplyDelete
  84. Chuck Bless You, I'm 56 and I think of Sam and Dean like my own 'children' and want to reach into the screen and 'cuff their ears, both of them ;). Bitten is on very bottom for me too.

    ReplyDelete
  85. It doesn't actually violate canon at all....there have been multiple friendly monsters AND evil humans/hunters throughout the series.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I think Isle was referring more to the cop/newbie hunter will be joined by a friend (referring to the longer 'cast list') and the spinoff will take place in a City that has a large, 'underground' "supernatural community including different species of 'families' .. sort of similar to MBFWB being about enough witches/wiccans to have their own night club.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Yes, me, too, I had the same impression when the info first came out - that he would be an experienced cop with some time on the force.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Okay now I am going to give this show a 5-6 episodes chance instead of 2-3. Nathaniel Buzolic if we can't get you on TO at least we can get you on some pseudo SN tribes thingy.
I am disappointed though with the role he gave him i thought he would be better off playing the werewolf Julian Durant, described as savagely handsome jerk. I don't want to see Nate mope around the screen because of a personal tragedy as some loser shapeshifter, he is at his best playing a la Damon/Klaus kind of characters.

    ReplyDelete
  89. The show premises are so bad the only thing that can save it if the actors charisma just pulls us in and doesn't let go. I love Nate and the guy they cast as Ennis looks nice too, so my expectations and hopes for this show are a bit higher now.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yes he deserves to be either on TO or in some other shows, he is a decent actor and certainly easy on the eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Yes why tribes? are they on some island? or running around wearing clothes made of palm leaves? Supernatural: War or Packs or Factions sounds better.

    ReplyDelete
  92. How so you know you got downvoted? I can't see any downvotes anymore....
    *********************
Nate is really cool in TVD, people who haven't seen him can just go on youtube if you don't want to stuble through endless TVD love triangle drama. He is like Lestat there, with no morals and fun attitude.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Well to be just, if someone would have read the description for SN pilot they also would have thought it was going to be about Sam losing whatshername girl, he dated in pilot. But they just touched upon it lightly and went on with almost no romance, though with the description of characters for this show in mind, i think there will be a lot of romance and pairing happening.

    ReplyDelete
  94. That's funny because earlier in the day there was lol

    ReplyDelete
  95. I guess for me that's all fairly generic. I didn't think those ideas in MBFWB were bad, just the execution was awful.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Agreed, but then maybe the TV Gods will simile on us, and we don' t have to suffer more than one short season of Tribes, before it gets salted and burned. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  97. That was my initial thought too. Chicago run by monsters and no hunter knows about this, .......really? Come on Carver SPN fans are not that dumb.
The more I read about this spin-off the less I think it's worth the time and money.....I'd rather have season 11 and 12 of the real Supernatural with Sam and Dean.

  98. Sure, the red line is killing humans. The thing is in SPN the main theme was hunting the dangerous supernatural who hurt people, it was never about an utopia w/ human and non-human living happily w/ each other, heck the main characters of the show are hunters not some shrink or peacemakers, it means sth. There's nothing right or wrong about this setting, it was SPN universe.
There were a handful of exceptions from both sides so far, but that was it, exceptions (and even those exceptions were influenced by Eve, I wonder what happened then in Chicago). If every supernatural creature at the corner can and decides to be civilized and friendly, it becomes more like a Marvel universe w/ SuperHumans; Or not just one Superman, but lots of them from different planets of Shapeshifters, Werewolves,... falling on earth!
    THIS is not SPN universe.

  99. Agreed. And since when is BigBrother a substitute for actually take acting courses or dare I say it talent?
Ah, I get it, generation facebook doesn't need that, as long as they can smile in the camera all is well, and they are suddenly actors.
    *bangs head on desk*

  100. There's no reason to believe that on this other show, all monsters will be civilized and friendly.

  101. He's done acting work as well.

  102. If season 10 goes OK hopefully we might still get season 11 or 12. I don't know if they will have a lot of impact on each other's fate.

  103. Standard trick of pooling together SPN and TVD fandoms. I am surprised that that Ennis actor is not bringing fanbase along. I wont claim that Jared was well known by the time SPN started ( how well known can be an actor in his early 20th?), but Jensen had a solid portfolio from Fox, CBS,WB, few daytime Emmy nominations.
So I am not quite sure why they chose this guy as a lead actor, seems like he has no credits to prove he can carry this kind of show .

  104. The idea of having an outside/monster prospective of the brothers was a good idea but it was badly carried out.
There was very little on the brothers; instead we got a love/ jealousy teen triangle which belonged more on the Vampire Diaries than on SPN. I found it boring and I cared zero about the three students.
Add in the hand held camera and it was a complete failure for me.

As for age, I doubt that has anything to do with it. A bad episode is bad whether one's seven or seventy. lol. :)

  105. The handheld camera stuff is an acquired taste - some love it, others dislike it - so I chalk "that" up to RT's wanting an episode that would be entirely 'experimental'. I totally agree that the 'foundation storyline' was really bad; like you said the young love/jealousy triangle belonged on a TVD-like show. SPN has never been about romance or love triangles - I don't why the frak RT thought the' young triangle' would be hit in the first place - maybe trying to increase young man and woman demos? Anyway it was a ratings bomb in a season that was already filled with controversy. from the get go.

  106. This sounds a bit like a variation on Grimm to me.

  107. I don't know who he is either.

  108. Never watched a single episode. Didn't look like my cuppa.

    ReplyDelete
  109. KOL clearly didn't seem to be part of the three originals like we saw in the first flashback on how they became vamps

    ReplyDelete
  110. Ok well he played an original vampire on TVD

  111. I think they would have. Unless Tribes will be more Chicago PD-ish with monsters-monsters instead of criminals-monsters. Then it just another criminal drama with spn elements (Grimm, anyone?). If they go full hunting theme, then its a serious cross-over.
I don't watch nor TVD neither Originals to know how closely are they connected, but I have read many comments that Originals feels fresh and entertaining, and TVD old and boring. Could Originals harm TVD in future? Easily. But that's the hole idea: replace old and fading with new and thriving.
Anyhow I think this concept could not work with SPN. Because majority of fans watching not for spn fantasy world, not for monsters, but for two brothers, for characters. Remove that - and it will be just another Grimm, or Sleepy Hollow, or Twilight, but low budget version.
I am all for more Sam and Dean instead. Sorry, Tribes.

  112. I wish Tribes had done what The Originals did and used characters that we already knew and liked. I will give it a try, but am very leary.

  113. Besides Castiel, Crowley and Bobby, not a lot of male characters have lasted that long either. It's very rare for any character to make into double digit appearances. Cindy Sampson and Osric Chau are pretty much only recurring characters outside of the aformentioned three to hit double digit appearances.

  114. Hell, they changed reapers how they look/abilities from season 1 to 2. Thi stuff is nothing new.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Those 3 have been on 30-70 eps each. They have all 3 felt like major characters. The only female to feel like a major role would be Ruby and she was played by 2 different actresses, and she died 5 years ago.

Their father and Lucifer also got into double digits, as much or more than any of the females.

The only 2 recurring female roles right now are Abaddon (6 eps) and Charlie (4 eps).

You'd hardly even know Abaddon was on the show. The last few eps she was on, she had like 1 minute of screen time.

Charlie had big roles on her episodes because it was Felicia Day, but she certainly isn't a regular. I wouldn't be surprised if we never saw her again.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Never seeing Charlie again would make me very happy. ;) Don't like the way she talks down to the guys and has to keep saving them.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Which is funny because Grimm always seemed like a variation of Supernatural to me haha.

    ReplyDelete
  118. That's actually why I started to watch Grimm. I made it about seven episodes before giving up. Loved Monroe, but the lead actor was so horrible, I just couldn't stand it anymore. Never had any inclination to pick it up again.

  119. I totally forgot Bones had a baby. But I haven't watched the show since season six ended ...

  120. Preach. Can't stand her.

  121. How can you miss it when promos air during fox every day lol

    ReplyDelete
  122. I don't see commercials on network stations in prime time, my Hopper just skips them, so not everyone see the promos. LOVE my HOPPER. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  123. When commericals air you dnt do anything lol

    ReplyDelete
  124. The Hopper skips them all by its self, love it. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  125. There was another character described as the old man in his *gasp* "30's" - ALL of the leads are early 20's

    ReplyDelete
  126. Actually Jared had a major role on Gilmore Girls and Jensen had a major role on Dark Angel.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Jensen's role in Dark Angel was much bigger than Jared on GG and Jensen had been in a soap also.

    ReplyDelete
  128. We all thought christine would be the focus of season 9 on Bones but now she is barely see and they all act like she doesnt exist anymore lol

  129. Uhm…I do not know if anyone has noticed it….but the BABY PLOT ever since day one was and is and will be theBASIC AND PRIMARY PLOT OF TO. From time to time until TO feels safe it might focus on other stuff to but it will always return to its origins aka BABY. The pregnancy won’t ho any there. So what is the issue here? It WILL affect the storytelling and the acting? As in it hasn’t already? TO is a plot hole because of that story. It is a show BASED on a plot hole and on a problematic writing. Because honestly when it came to the writing and the acting supporting certain themes I was already cringing from the backdoor pilot.

This is what TO is. If anyone decides to watch it and to keep on watching then he/she should come to terms with some facts. TO is in its essence the baby plot. The baby represents the Originals, it might grow up suddenly, vanish for some time, not be on screen 24/7 but the pregnancy/baby/child whatever is produced by this “brilliant” idea won’t go anywhere.

  130. As long as he isn't like that with the fans and parts of the media, does it really matter?
