Scandal is back!
Following a sizeable 10 week hiatus as part of ABC's split season trial also featuring Grey's Anatomy and Once Upon a Time, the network's best drama series returns tomorrow night for the eleventh instalment of a shortened 18 episode third season.
ABC have done some serious promotional work over the past 2 1/2 months, leveraging the series' enormous social media following.
In the winter finale back on December 12, Sally Langston murdered her husband following the photos she received showing him getting intimate with James Novak. Cyrus Beene helped cover up the death and called in B613's finest, Charlie and Quinn, to clean up the crime scene. Tomorrow's episode, titled 'Ride, Sally, Ride' will no doubt pick up on where the winter finale left off.
President Grant wasn't going to miss out on the action either, with the temporary kidnapping of Rowan Pope, and the revelations that followed which cast Maya Pope in a completely new light. The final scene of the winter finale showed Maya standing outside the White House talking to her daughter.
It didn't end there. President Grant also removed Rowan from his post at B613 and inserted his long time friend Jake Ballard, who now runs the covert organisation. What does this mean for Quinn and Charlie now that they have a new boss? How will Fitz make use of the organisation now that he has more control over its actions?
The winter finale drew in the third highest ratings and audience in Scandal's history, a 3.3 adults 18-49 rating, and 9.22 million viewers. I'd be betting on similar numbers for tomorrow's episode.
