But fans of period/historical dramas don't watch Reign. The costumes look like they are from a prom dress outlet and there is no historical accuracy whatsoever. Well, Mary did exist - that's about it for period accuracy though. You're right that the audience is pretty limited because the show is a huge teenage soap opera set in 16th century France. I only watch because I get a kick out of seeing just how un-historical it will get each week. It's kind of amusing to me.
I love the fact that this show is different than my other shows. Middle ages, everything is live and death and of course there are queens and kings! I hope it gets a second season.
Not enough of violence for fans of let's say Game of thrones to tune in. No enough of historical accuracy for history buffs. I am only watching for the Mary/Katherine/Henry struggle for power. These three are great
Yeah well, its on the CW so of course it won't have the same level of violence that game of thrones has. Hell, i don't even know any show on television right now that has the same level of violence that GOT has.
Its an amazing show about power struggle and politics. Too bad people can't see beyond he costumes :(. And also i wouldn't say reign is tweeny, especially when it deals with dark subject matters like pagans and blood sacrifices. I don't know any other show that does that.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Why is reign so awesome but getting crappy ratings? I don't get it.
ReplyDeleteBecause it's not for everyone.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean?
ReplyDeleteI mean that not everyone is a fan of period/historical dramas. There audience is pretty limited.
ReplyDeleteTrue, but beheadings, burning people, sacrifices, why do people continue to resist? :(
