Ravenswood - Cancelled

Feb 15, 2014

ABC Family has cancelled the Pretty Little Liars spin-off, TVLine has learned.

The supernatural drama followed the spooky goings-on in a Pennsylvania town and starred Liars‘ Tyler Blackburn.

In light of the cancellation, Ravenswood‘s Feb. 4 episode, which wrapped its 10-episode freshman season, was also its series finale.

  2. Thank god, acting was terrible and the show was repetitive, now can we have Caleb back in PLL?

    ReplyDelete
  3. It's okay!! Thank's for the link. :)
I'm actually happy it's cancelled... It didn't really make sense, especially because it was a Pretty Little Liars spin-off.

  4. Caleb get on the next bus!! Was enjoying this show but missing Haleb too much....

  5. said it before it aired... try to find my comment, scrolled downed up to 5 months ago then got tired. whatever PLL was enough for me dam spin off hate them.

  6. Damn, that was fast.

  7. they gotta make a tv movie to wrap everything up

    ReplyDelete
  8. Why I love this show didn't give it a chance

    ReplyDelete
  9. HALEB LIVES!! Caleb come home now!

    ReplyDelete
  10. They gave it a chance after by moving it after PLL, but the ratings didn't improve.

    ReplyDelete
  11. When was the last time ABC Family did that?

    ReplyDelete
  12. bummer. The 'teen romance' was a little much but I did enjoy that they kept the spooky up through each entire episode and not just at the beginning and the end.

    ReplyDelete
  13. it was inevitable, the show's writing was horrible-nothing made sense!! at least now caleb will get together with hanna, not a fan of them, but i have to admit that they are the only non-dysfunctional couple apart from emily-paige.

  14. Thank God!!! It was pretty bad. Acting was HORRIBLE and the story was BAD!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. It made no sense to have a supernatural spin off from a non supernatural show!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I hope Tyler gets the invitation to the PLL set very soon.

    ReplyDelete
  17. YES!!! THANK YOU GOD!

  18. Thanks PLL fans for killing a really good show. I hope tyler doesn't go back to PLL to be a supporting actor, when he had a lead in his own show. Ravenswood could of been a great show, if it wasn't for the stupid hanna fans. This network will see the same downfall as the cw. I'm done with the network.. I won't be watching anything on there anymore including PLL.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Which is why I didn't want to watch it as it would confuse the networks

    ReplyDelete
  20. Universe not networks

    ReplyDelete
  21. As a fan of PLL it was nothing to do with Hanna it was to do with that the two worlds made no sense together ... Ravenswood being supernatural and PLL not being it.... It would complicate PLL with ravenswood being that way.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I don't see how that matters. It was its, own show. The only reason they were connected was because of hanna and caleb. plus on pll they were lead to ravenswood because of stuff with ali. The pll fans complained everyday about caleb and hanna, they couldn't accept that they broke up. Then on the finale of ravenswood they got back together and still that wasn't good enough for the fans. Its bull. It was a great show.. and it got canceled for all the wrong reasons.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Why would I want to watch a badly written, badly acted show? It sucked, it's that simple. You can't blame the PLL fans for not watching, if they liked it they would have watched it, it's that simple. Like everything Marlene Idiot King does, the show was poorly planned, executed and promoted.

    ReplyDelete
  24. It was cancelled because it was a shit show. There is no other reason, the show failed to make money so they axed it. That's how TV works.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Okay your not making a valid point. Marlene King is behind PLL the powerhouse show for the network so if one show is good and another show with the same people behind it is bad. No I don't think so. Hanna fans ruined this show and everyone knows it. And RW was popular on social media, it did good in dvr viewings. There was no reason it should of been canceled. They have JBD a bsck order, they gave bunheads a back order, they gave that terrible awful show Twisted more episodes but they didn't give Ravenswood more episodes. Biased much? This cancelation is a direct result of hanna and caleb fans. And thats ridiculous that networks let fans have so much input with their programming. I hope the network falls just like the cw. And when PLL finally ends they will have Nothing on this network. All in all I know what ill be watching tuesdays at 8.. nothing. At least untill the originals comes back.

    ReplyDelete
  26. It's ridiculous to think that networks are basing their decisions on a couple.
The only thing that matters is money. RW didn't deliver so it was cancelled.

    ReplyDelete
  27. You're ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Okay then

Marlene King didnt invent PPL, Sara Shepard did, she is not the 'power house'. The fans watched PLL as they were fans of the books, which explains why the ratings have dropped since season 1. Your point about every show that a producer makes is good or bad is stupid. Ravenwood is cancelled after 10 episodes proves that point. King did not create PLL, Shepard did. King has only drown out the plot with stupid pedophile romances and red herrings, unlike the books which have clear villains and plots.

Hanna was in one episode, episode 9. How did she 'ruin' the show?

Social media and DVR ratings mean jack shit to the network people. They want to make money, viewers mean advertisments which make money. Ravenwood wasn't pulling in enough viewers so they were not making enough money. Jane By Design, The Lying Game etc were all axed for exactly the same reason, not enough viewers. Twisted is pulling in alright numbers, if it fails to get numbers, that will be Ravenwoods fault since they tried to save RW by switching it with Twisted. Again, giving RW preferential treatment that didnt work.

Again, what do Hanna and Caleb have to do with anything? People with real lives probably don't have the energy to have a vendetta against a TV show, if they liked RW they would have watched it. Ever thought that RW sucks ass? And that's why it was cancelled after 9 episodes?

PLL has another 2 seasons, I hope they don't try and replace it with another mystery show. And I hope you don't watch PLL, the more people who tune out is better, the quicker it will end and the quicker we get answers.

    Good enough 'defense' for ya?

    ReplyDelete
  29. You can't blame PLL fans for the show not being a success.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I have to admit, I had a hard time getting into this show. I think it was a combination of things, like the non-Caleb characters not really being that interesting and the ensemble not gelling. It had potential, and it wasn't awful, but it didn't quite work.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Okay I never said hanna ruined rw I said the hanna caleb fans ruined rw. And second tlg was by sara shepard as well, and the books for the lying game are way better then the books for PLL. Third there's no way a book series is pulling people in for the show, there's been tons of feedback about how its so different from the books we don't like it blah blah.

And tlg, jbd and those other shows your grouping with rw got a chance to prove themselves. They all got back orders tlg got a second season and the rating were the same for rw as they were for tlg. Why keep one around for 30 episodes yet get rid of the other one after only 10.

What happened was the network saw all the feedback about the haleb relationship (still think that name sounds like a cow) and saw PLL down tick in ratings.. their last couple were 1.0 .9 and .8 not in that order but those were the ratings so like the stupid fans they blames ravenswood. So they got rid of it with hopes the ratings would tick back up. When in all reality its time for PLL to end.

    ReplyDelete
  32. No, what happened was the network saw RW was doing poorly so they axed it. How many times, in how many words do I have to explain that? The ratings were not good enough.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Also Twisted ratings are not alright, they were the same as tlg, and ravenswood. The only difference is itit's never had to pull its own weight, its had the post PLL spot its entire run. Twisted is a god awful show, it was before ravenswood and it will be after it. The only reason they will keep that around is because its cheap, and the need a spot to fill. I hope it gets canceled at the end of its run. Because it doesnt deserve a second season. Ravenswood is not to blame for twisteds horrible ratings, it got those before ravenswood existed.

And I know the dvr ratings don't mean anything to a netqork but they should. If you looked at how RW did it was an average of 1.9 million viewers an episode I think it might of even been 2.1 but I'm not sure off the top of my head.

Other things should of been considered in the cancelation process. Logic does play a part here. Weather people want to accept it or not. Did you watch one, episode of rw? Did you not see the potential the show had, the acting and writing were very good. And the story itself was different and interesting, not like the crap that's on tv all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Sorry to hear that for the fans of the show but especially for Nicole Anderson, she's one of my fave actresses and does that mean Tyler B. will be headed back to Rosewood? Maybe they can find a spot for him on Switched at Birth or the Fosters. I just would like to see more him.

    ReplyDelete
  35. No the ratings were the same. How many ways can I say that. Look it up, they were the same. Check any of those shows ratings they were the same. What's your problem with facts.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I never watched PLL but was considering giving it a chance because I loved and was enjoying Ravenswood so much, but now I won't watch PLL ever. Ravenswood was a really good, creepy show that constantly kept you guessing. I'm very disappointed this has been cancelled and probably won't try out any of ABC Family's other shows now (I'd never watched any series on the network previously) because I hate becoming invested in something only to have it pulled out from under me.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Here I did for you.. TLG season 1 average was .5 and 1.38 m viewers, (more then 10 episodes aired of this) Twisted season 1 average .5 and 1.44 (more episodes aired of this one) Ravenswood season 1 average .5 and 1.29 m viewers. (Only 10 episodes aired of this, less then both of the other shows initial runs of the other two. ) see the same.

  38. Why are you hell bent on arguing about this? I honestly don't care, I hated the show and glad it was canned. It didnt do well enough to be renewed, The network is hardly going to can a show which they would profit from. Just, go argue with somebody that cares. Try IMDB or Fan Forum.

    ReplyDelete
  39. So I provide proof, and your all done. Its fine I get you didn't like the show, but it didn't deserve to be canceled because fans weren't happy with a break up.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I watched a couple episodes but it was so boring & badly acted that I'm not at all surprised. Hope it's replaced with something good...but my Tuesdays have a lot of shows that I watch so it's not a big deal if they don't.

BTW, I don't think this cancelation had anything to do with Hanna/Caleb fans...since I was completely bored with that pairing and relieved when Caleb left PLL. But Ravenswood really was awful. Also, spinning off a supernatural show from a non-supernatural show is idiotic.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Good luck with that. I watched Chloe King, Jane By Design, The Lying Game and others. They all end on cliff-hangers and ABC Family never mentions it again. I stopped watching all their shows after The Lying Game. Can't take it anymore!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I know it's mean but yeah I am happy. ABC Family cancelled so many shows I liked on cliffhangers that I stopped watching the channel all together.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Some people really amuse me. I watch a show because I like it and I think the plot is good. No matter the network. Over the last decade, I have been disappointed and sad that I didn't get the proper closure for some shows. Shit happens. If a network cancelled a show I like, will I stop or refuse watching its other shows altogether? No. Why would I deprive myself from the pleasure of enjoying something that can be good and entertaining because something else has been cancelled ? I loved TLG. Twisted sucks in my opinion. Renewals are about ratings and production costs mostly. If it doesn't deliver, it doesn't. Do I think some networks made some mistakes cancelling some shows ? Yes. Life unexpected and The Secret Circle were cancelled and the replacements haven't really fared any better. Shit happens. Move on and watch something else.
I tried Ravenswood. I watch the entire season. I didn't like it. The ratings weren't high enough, so I guess a lot of people didn't like it either. I also don't really care if the spin off had supernatural elements vs PLL being non supernatural. If I had been hooked, I would have watched it regardless. You enjoy, you watch. You don't like, don't watch.
Also, even if as a viewer it sucks both ways, it is still worse not to have a proper ending (final season) after 4,5 years (like Angel), then after a year or two. Producers know that in their first year they are in their tryout period. So why won't you end your first season without such a big cliffhanger. Give closure, add some new elements that could lead to something more without making it the big suspense.

    End of story.

  44. Lets hope they bring Tyler and Nicole to The Originals that would be a good move for both actors. Screw Abcfamily. The Originals is better then PLL now, anyways.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Agreed. Them cancelling TLG was also the last drop for me. I decided to only start watching their show when they're at least in their 3rd season.

I never watched Chloe King but I do know there's a script out there somewhere which wraps up the storyline. It was supposed to be a tv movie but ABC Family didn't want to make it.

    ReplyDelete
  46. From reading other posts around the net it seems like ABC Family has burned a lot of bridges with fans. I was occasionally watching PLL and was very into Switched at Birth but I really stuck to the boycott. I haven't watched a thing since TLG ended. Even dropped cable after I moved. Suck it ABCF!

    ReplyDelete
  47. The only ABC Family show I watch is PLL. I used to watch Switched at Birth but I stopped halfway through the first season. I haven't seen a single episode of the new shows. I've heard Twisted is pretty good but I refuse to watch it, especially since I heard that show is the reason TLG was cancelled.

I think the main reason so many fans hate ABC Family isn't nessecarily because they cancel shows, because all the channels do that. It's just that they never give shows a chance to wrap up their storyline. As much as you can dislike The CW, at least they allow most of their shows closure. Look at Nikita. That show was never a big hit so they cancelled the show, but still gave the creators 6 episodes to wrap it up.

  48. I actually prefer Hanna without caleb..... it was to do with ratings ultimately... it does matter they are in the same 'universe'... either supernatural aspects exist or they don't......you can't expect the audience to ignore that.
