These ratings are normally adjusted later in the day when all the ratings have been consolidated to take into account any local preemptions and/or overruns. You can find all the final adjusted numbers in our Ratings Database. (See the About section below for details about ratings)

“The Middle” (ABC)

-Critically Acclaimed, but Minimally Sampled:
“Suburgatory” (ABC), “Nashville” (ABC)

-Losers (excluding repeats):
“How to Raise an Olympian “ (NBC), “Super Fun Night” (ABC), “The Tomorrow People” (CW)

———-

-Ratings Breakdown:
Two more hours of the new season of “American Idol” kept Fox in the midweek overnight winner’s circle, with an 8.9 rating/14 share from 8-10 p.m. (peaking in the 8:30 p.m. half-hour at a 9.3/14). Comparably, this was just three percent below the 9.2/15 on the year-ago evening.

Second-place CBS opened with an encore of “Criminal Minds” at a third-place 4.8/ 7 at 8 p.m., followed by the original installment of “Criminal Minds” (#2: 7.8/12) and granddaddy “CSI” (#1: 6.8/11) from 9-11 p.m. Keep in mind that the upcoming spring edition of “Survivor,” themed “Brawn vs. Brains vs. Beauty” will open on Fb. 26.

“Modern Family” was the Wednesday standout on ABC, of course, with a second-place 7.0/10 in the 9 p.m. half-hour, which was 67 percent above lead-in “Suburgatory” (#3: 4.2/ 6 at 8:30 p.m.). And underrated “The Middle” remained consistent at 8 p.m. with a second-place 5.6/ 9. But the reality of “Suburgatory” was an overnight performance only similar to year-ago occupant “The Neighbors” (and “The Neighbors” should never have been renewed for a second season).

Also on ABC was waiting-to-be axed “Super Fun Night” at a fourth-place 3.1/ 5 at 9:30 p.m., which dipped by 56 percent from “Modern Family,” and sophomore “Nashville” at a third-place 3.7/ 6 at 10 p.m. Year-to-year, “Nashville” was down 10 percent (versus a 4.1/ 7).

Elsewhere, NBC 8 p.m. special, “How to Raise an Olympian” limped out of the gate with a fourth-place 2.7/ 4 in the overnights. Next was “Law & Order: SVU” at a 4.2/ 6 (#4) at 9 p.m., followed by recent entry “Chicago PD,” which just had its freshman episode order increased to 15, at a compatible 4.1/ 7 (#2) at 10 p.m. But the two scripted dramas dipped week-to-week, with “SVU” down by 24 percent and “Chicago PD” off by 13 percent.

Bona fide CW hit “Arrow” rose to a 2.3/ 4 at 8 p.m. (#5), which was right on par from the year-ago evening. And it led into a lackluster 1.2/ 2 (#5) for “The Tomorrow People” at 9 p.m., which is unlikely to improve in the Monday 9 p.m. hour out of new drama “Star-Crossed” effective on March 17.

About the Daily Ratings

Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.

The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).

Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.

Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.

Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). 1. I'm guessing Modern Family is going to end up as the #3 comedy this week?

    ReplyDelete
  2. Does anyone know the overnights for The Tomorrow People from last week?

    ReplyDelete
  3. There was also a preemption I believe last week as well.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I'm hoping for a 1.2-1.3 in the 18-49A. They really promoted this episode and I think having Black Canary finally back in Starling plus advancing the LoA plot should have been a big draw. Keeping fingers crossed.

  6. Sorry to say that but I hope TTP doesn't adjust up, I want Reign to have a second season.

    ReplyDelete
  7. well... it's kind of true

    ReplyDelete
  8. It is possible that they both get second seasons. I just started watching Reign, It's not a bad show, but if I had to pick I'd want TTP to be renewed!

    ReplyDelete
  9. TTP is still very much dead unfortunately. I was also hoping Arrow would be up. Suburgatory did okay. I would feel much better if it climbed back to 2.0 but I think it could get renewed at this level too. Chicago PD will certainly be renewed.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Super Flop Night.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I watch both TTP and Reign too, but i think Reign is better. I expected it to be all about love triangle, but i guess in TTP we can see more of love triangle than in Reign actually.

There is a chance for both of them if both SC and T100 flop. And it all depends on Monday ratings for TTP. And who knows, maybe 3 of those shows could be renewed, because last year CW cancelled 4 shows and this year 3 of them are pretty much dead, so maybe they will cancel only 1 of new shows. But i think 2 of them will be cancelled and i think it will be SC and TTP

    ReplyDelete
  12. I highly doubt CW will only cancel four shows and renew eveything else like last year.Arrow,VD,SPN,TO are certain renewals and HoD will most Likley be renewed for syndication and ANTM takes a partial fall slot from Aug to mid Nov,I think there's room for only one of Reign,TTP,The 100,SC to be renewed and still have three new fall shows like they usually do and will do unless Reign,TTP improve a lot or SC,The 100 are 0.9-1.0 or higher consistent hits.I assume the "three pretty much dead" shows you mention are CD,BatB,HoD.?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I meant TCD,BatB and Nikita

    ReplyDelete
  14. I hate the sentence as well as a big big fan of the show but I have to agree that it is also true. The idea of replacing Malibu Country with The Neighbors was probably one of the worst ideas of last year's upfronts.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Reign is too good, but too bad it usually adjusts down. Tonight's episode is about Queen vs Queen so hopefully it does better.

    ReplyDelete
  16. See that's the thing You just STARTED watching reign.

    ReplyDelete
  17. i've watched five episodes already. I'm still not sold. How many do I have to watch. Ten???

    ReplyDelete
  18. As for me, Episode 7 was my favorite

    ReplyDelete
  19. Well, I have all episodes DVR'd so I'll still keep watching.. BTW, most people would say that TTP gets really awesome starting at episode 8!.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Episode 7 of reign was mind blowing, the best of the season so far. And from the previews i've seen, tonight's episode (inquisition). Looks to be even better.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'd find that funny if it weren't so sad!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh how we laughed and laughed. Except i wasn't laughing.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I love Rebel Wilson in interviews but the show is bad. She has said the network has censored some of the jokes and stories she wanted to do. Maybe that is part of it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I don't want both the 100 and Reign to be canceled, The 100 seems to be a really good show with more action than love, which I'm sure I'll like when I watch the first ep.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Out of the four shows, i'm rooting for Reign and the 100 to be renewed. Reign: Very gory, the 100:Lots of action. These are my tastes. Star crossed seems to girly for me and TTP...never really pulled me in.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yep, I feel the same way about Star Crossed and I've never really given a shot to TTP, don't know why I feel like it's just not for me.

    ReplyDelete
  27. TTP just keeps improving, but the ratings don't reflect this. I really hope they give at least a second season to wrap everything up, even if it is like a 13 episode second season.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yay Chicago PD! I hope you're right, you most likely are :D

    ReplyDelete
  29. But I want TTP and BatB so Reign needs to fail... sorry

    ReplyDelete
  30. Give reign a chance, its a great show.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Just finished episode 11, BEST EPISODE SO FAR!

    ReplyDelete
  32. That's great news, i hope the ratings reflect it. I really wish reign could get a 0.7-0.8 so that there could be a bigger gap between it and ttp. Which would hopefully end this reign vs ttp thing once and for all.

    ReplyDelete
  33. But I want Reign so TTP needs to fail...sorry.BatB is done.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Well, TTP kept an 0.5 in the adjusted ratings, good for Reign.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I realy hope that TTP is renewed. It does start out slow, but it really starts to pick up around episode 5 or so. I just don't like Reign, not sure what it is about it. Never really kept my attention
