Losers: It doesn't matter! Hahaha,so true!
ReplyDelete"There were no overnight results at press time for episodes of sitcoms “New Girl” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” in the “Super Bowl” lead-out time periods."
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOOOO! Damn it, I will have to wait xD
I laughed way too hard at that, hahahaha!
ReplyDeleteI know right! Marc is laughable, but very rarely does he makes me laugh!
ReplyDeleteThink the New Girl and Brooklyn numbers will be all over the place when it comes to DVR ratings as they started earlier than intended. Hope people gave Brooklyn a chance though and come back to it on Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteI hope that too! I found the episode to be speaking mostly to its already established audience, so it worries me a little that there won't be much following, but it was pretty funny nontheless, so maybe it doesn't matter as much as I think.
ReplyDeleteNew Girl on the other side was more broad, so I think it has a lot to benefit from its post Super Bowl airing
I'm also hoping Brooklyn will benefit with its new time slot, when it wasn't against SHIELD the other week it did quite well so here's hoping.
ReplyDeleteI still think New Girl was not a good choice to air after Super Bowl.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the worst SB in 25 years. Essentially over with the second half kickoff. Could really hurt the comedies ratings.
ReplyDeleteSurprised for that result for the Super Bowl, the game was over before halftime and I expect more adjustments for the finals because it featured a west coast team against a mountain team.
ReplyDeleteNot switched NG and B99 was a bad decision by FOX, Nine-Nine skews male and would be a better fit after a Super Bowl and although the female-skewing Grey's Anatomy and The Voice delivered huge numbers after the SB, New Girl is a third year show that has dropped hard year after year.
I don't know, FOX didn't have much of a choice; If Sleepy Hollow premiered in midseason, then sure, that would have been a good Super Bowl sampling, but aside from that the only other viable option was The Following, and at the time FOX didn't feel like it needed SB aid like New Girl needed.
ReplyDeleteAlmost Human could have been a good choice, it's certainly male skewing, unlike New Girl.
ReplyDeleteI think New Girl wasn't a good fit because of the ratings dropping, not because the way the show skews.
ReplyDeleteNew Girl is down 18% year-to-year ths season and dropped 29% from the first season to the second.
The Superbowl was so boring last night. I already knew who was gonna win by around 8:00. And to me personally, the commercials were stupid as well. There was only five commercials that stood out for me. And I haven't watched Superbowl in years (I'm a girl if anybody wants to know so I dont really like football). I cant wait until next year when NBC has it. Hopefully it'll be much more competitive than this one.
ReplyDeleteIn top 25 mkts, New Girl did ~9.8 18-49 rtg and Brooklyn99 did ~5.6 18-49 rtg. Superbowl did ~37.4. (from Sitcomsonline.com)
ReplyDeleteLet's see how the next episode of New Girl and B-99 does.
ReplyDeleteWell, New Girl did better than Elementary! That's awesome!
ReplyDeleteBrooklyn 9-9 dropped off, but still a pretty good sample!
Let's hope they can carry on some ratings to Tuesdays! (I can see New Girl doing a 3.0 and Brooklyn 9-9 doing a 2.4 this Tuesday, but I maybe I'm just being too optimistic)
Well Elementary started after 11PM and it was delayed cuz of the power outage that lasted over 30 mins.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but there were a lot of people who thought New Girl would do even worse than Elementary. While we have to wait for the real ratings (as we know, top 25 markets don't define the actual rating, it is just close to what we'll see) it's pretty impresive that New Girl jumped from the 1.6 it was delivering two weeks ago to a 9.8 (I was ready to see a 7.5 or something like that), an avarage result to post SB shows; I think the show still has it in it to recover from the year to year drops it has suffered
ReplyDeleteI don't know, while I like Almost Human I never thought of it as the kind of show that would attract mass audiences, I thought that it would hold off a pretty avarage audience and that's what it did.
ReplyDeleteWhile New Girl obviously skews female, it has always been broad enough to be enjoyed by both genders, so I never saw any problem with the choice. I don't say it's the best choice, but it doesn't look like a bad one either, and that 9.8 it got in the top 25 markets its already a good sign; not the best post SB result ever, but still good
I can't find the half hours for post Super Bowl Elementary, but I think the first half hour would probably be the same as New Girl.
ReplyDeleteTo all those saying B99 should've been behind the SB because it's more male skewing, in some ways I agree but here's two words - GREY'S ANATOMY.
ReplyDeleteThis could turn into an infinite argumente:
ReplyDeleteFor one Elementary had as a lead in the 3rd highest rated Super Bowl as lead in, and it only got as far as a 7.8. But it started at 11PM so, the numbers might have been affected because of that.
New Girl had the lowest rated one in three years and it seems to have outrated Elementary. But it started early and we don't know how Elementary started on the first half hour.
Let's leave it that New Girl did good; I shouldn't have compared New Girl with Elementary since they aired in different conditions
it's not the network who decides how competitive the game is, for example next years game on NBC might be even more boring, but that's not because it's on NBC.
ReplyDeletevery true, to this day its one of the biggest post superbowl shows.
ReplyDeletei really think the should of dealyed idol and premiered it yesterday instead
ReplyDeleteMarc Berman has New Girl at 7.8 and 18.22 mil
ReplyDeleteDidn't expect that drop off from the top 25 markets for New Girl! I hope Brooklyn 9-9 does ok though :(
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad! I thought New Girl would have done at least 9.0 :(
ReplyDeleteIt's not really fair to judge Elementary's ratings against any other show in recent memory, because it was so delayed and was an hour, which meant a bigger commitment by the viewer who was already up past their bedtime, lol.
ReplyDeleteok #s... i thought superbowl and new girl would have done a little better

Still a 310% increase for New Girl
ReplyDeleteAny chance for an adjustment with New Girl since it started early? Not sure if that kinda stuff results in adjustments...
ReplyDeleteWe won't know until the final numbers come out but I'm sure there will be lots of adjustments.
ReplyDeletewow huge drop off!
ReplyDeleteNew Girl had a 43% retention out of the 10pm portion of the SB, not too bad
ReplyDeletePeople were right! As the game continued people were tunning off. A higher rated game might have helped New Girl farther. I hope it can carry some of this new audience to Tuesday
ReplyDeletestill it was the lowest post superbowl show since 2003
ReplyDeleteIt has been worse, that's true
ReplyDeletecan't forget that New Girl is one of the weakest regular rated shows to air behind the Super Bowl, so it's not likely it would've risen from a 1.9 to a 9.5+ rating, plus it is extremely young skewing.
ReplyDeletethats why i still don't understand fox's decision to put this show as the post superbowl show
ReplyDeleteNow I'm really eager to know Brooklyn 9-9 numbers!
ReplyDeleteSince New Girl dropped from the early 9.8 rating on the early top 25 markets to a 7.8, things are looking bleak for Brooklyn 9-9. Hope it doesn't drop off that much, a 3.6 would be pretty bad following New Girl's 7.8. Crossing my fingers for at least a 4!
agreed! think idol was the best coice similar to how nbc did it with the voice.
ReplyDeleteThey wanted New Girl to be the hit it was on season 1, and to save their comedy Tuesday lineup
ReplyDeleteThat would have actually been a good choice, that could have helped Idol which has been pretty much dying lately
ReplyDeletethey should have realized it would not be the s1 hit anymore
ReplyDeleteyes, they don't want New Girl limping to syndication, they want it to prosper again like it did in earlier seasons to secure 5 seasons+ and over 100 episodes
ReplyDeleteSo New Girl tied Elementary and is the least watched post Super Bowl show in a decade, pending adjustments.
ReplyDeleteit could have really helped it
ReplyDeleteNew Girl started prior to 10:30 and ended prior to 11. Fast nationals are worthless.
ReplyDeletedoes this mean it'll be adjusted down or up?
ReplyDeletei think elementary had 20 million though
ReplyDeleteA post super bowl spot doesn't guarantee ratings increase.
ReplyDeleteProbably up
ReplyDeletecool beans :)
ReplyDeleteUp, I think, after all they are counting it as if it started at 10:30 and by that time the episode already started, so the numbers also reflect a portion of Brooklyn 9-9. This mean the finals could be up for both shows
ReplyDeleteYou'd assume it would be adjusted up since it surely performed better from 10:20-10:30 than it did from 10:30 to 11.
ReplyDeleteAlso - the 10-10:30PM fast nationals are also deflated since they're not time zone adjusted for the west coast.
this is all very good news, thanks :)
ReplyDeleteI know, I'm just saying that's what FOX wanted when they decided to air New Girl after the Super Bowl
ReplyDelete18-49
ReplyDeleteTied in 18-49 ratings.
ReplyDeletefor next year i betting nbc gives it to the blacklist
ReplyDeleteCould also be Believe, if it gets renewed.
ReplyDeleteit could be anything, it could a new show, The Blacklist, a returning show.
ReplyDeleteMy odds on NBC post-Super Bowl show next year.
ReplyDelete50% The Blacklist
25% New show (I would say the upcoming reality Space Race, maybe a drama, probably not two comedies that will be DOA on their regular timeslot)
15% Chicago PD
10% The Voice again (CBS aired Survivor post-Super Bowl twice, so, why not?)
I don't think The Blackist really needs a post Super Bowl spot. It is doing already very good numbers, and it has also proven itself to be able to stand on its own (without The Voice as a lead-in).
ReplyDeleteNew Girl : 25.8m and 11.1%
ReplyDeleteB99 : 14.8m and 6.7%
State of affair !
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, but you do know teams have to get to Superbowl and on what network it airs has absolutely nothing to do with who is in the superbowl right? So yeah it all depends who gets into the Superbowl and if they fight unlike Broncos who just gave up (Go Hawks)
ReplyDeleteMUCH better New Girl!
ReplyDeleteYou should really go back in an delete that last line...doesn't make you sound, well, informed to put it nicely.
ReplyDeleteI know it's a one-time thing but still, it's so good to see these ratings for B99. Love the show. Also congrats to The New Girl, good episode.
ReplyDeleteThose have already been adjusted. See the updated table.
ReplyDeleteNew Girl did great! 11.1 and almost 26 million! :D
ReplyDeleteBrooklyn 9-9 did decent, that 6.7 looks pretty neat, but it is still a big drop off. But still great, the two combined make a 8.9, which is what I was actually expecting from New Girl alone.
Fantastic!
After seeing the final numbers, 11.1 and 25.8 million viewers, we have to admit that New Girl was a good choice. It had a 61% retention from the post game rating; that's outright awesome. Brooklyn Nine-Nine did good too, with a a 6.7 and 60% retention of New Girl
ReplyDeleteYes but did you really expect New Girl to retain 90 million viewers? Friends couldn't even do that and it got over 50 million.
ReplyDeleteClearly not understanding what I meant. I wasn't seriously expecting it to retain that many viewers.
ReplyDeleteI was just saying the ratings don't matter.
