It was all about “Super Bowl XLVIII,” of course, with the Seahawks 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos at MetLife Stadium at an estimated 48.0 rating/70 share in the overnights in primetime. One year earlier, “Super Bowl XLVII,” featuring the Baltimore Ravens at the San Francisco 49ers on CBS, scored an almost identical 48.1 rating/71 share. And that translated into 108.69 million viewers in total and a 39.7 rating/77 share among adults 18-49.
Overnight results for “Super Bowl XLVI” in 2012 (New York Giants vs. the New England Patriots on NBC on 2/05/12) was a 42.6/65.
There were no overnight results at press time for episodes of sitcoms “New Girl” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” in the “Super Bowl” lead-out time periods.
Elsewhere, and it was very minimal and all repeats, CBS featured encores of “60 Minutes” (#2: 2.9/ 4), an 8 p.m. edition of “The Good Wife” (#2: 1.9/ 3), “The Mentalist” at 9 p.m. (#2: 2.1/ 3) and a Sunday 10 p.m. edition of “NCIS,” which perked up to a 4.1/ 7 (#2) in the overnights.
ABC ran two repeat episodes of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (#3t: avg. 1.6/ 2 from 7-9 p.m.) and two repeat episodes of “Shark Tank” (#2: avg. 2.0/ 3 from 9-11 p.m.). And NBC aired two hours of “Dateline” (#3: 1.6/ 2 from 7-9 p.m.) and 2010 theatrical “Little Fockers” (#3: 1.8/ 3 from 9-11 p.m.).

Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).
Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.
Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.
