-Ratings Breakdown:
NBC, once again, reigned supreme care of The Winter Olympics, which scored a 13.0 rating/20 share in the household overnights from 8-11 p.m. ET. The peak half-hour was 10 p.m. with a 14.0/23, and the events featured last night included figure skating and freestyle skiing. Night four of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” meanwhile, bested the competition combined again with a 5.3/15 from 12-1 a.m., which was on par with the 5.2/15 on Wednesday. Fallon’s debut on Monday was a 7.1/20 in the overnights.
In the distant No. 2 spot for the evening was Fox with its pairing of “American Idol” (#2: 6.4/10) and episode five of failing legal drama “Rake,” which dipped to a series-low 2.8/ 4 in the 9 p.m. hour. One year earlier, a two-hour edition of “American Idol” was notably stronger at a 8.7/13 from 8-10 p.m.
Elsewhere, a night of all repeats on CBS opened with “The Big Bang Theory” second in the 8 p.m. half-hour, with a 6.5/10, followed by a Thursday 8:30 p.m. airing of “Mom” (#3: 4.6/ 7), “Two and a Half Men” (#2: 4.5/ 7), a 9:30 p.m. installment of “The Millers” (#2: 3.8/ 6) and sophomore “Elementary” (#2: 3.6/ 6). “Two and a Half Men,” as a reminder, is now airing Thursdays at 9 p.m. (into relocated “The Crazy Ones” effective next week). And, in a note to Allison Janey: Make sure you submit last night’s episode in for Emmy consideration. It is trophy worthy!
In season (or series) finale news, two-hours of cooking competition “The Taste” on ABC could not compete with a fourth-place 2.5/ 4 in the overnights from 8-10 p.m. Next was a repeat of “Scandal” at a 2.0/ 3 at 10 p.m.
The CW capped off the evening with encores of already renewed dramas “The Originals” (#5: 0.7/ 1) and “Reign” (#5: 0.6/ 1).
