This table shows the early overnight ratings. These ratings are normally adjusted later in the day when all the ratings have been consolidated to take into account any local preemptions and/or overruns. You can find all the final adjusted numbers in our Ratings Database. (See the About section below for details about ratings)

Wednesday 2/12/14 Metered Market Ratings
The Winter Olympics Juggernaut Continues
Household
Rating/Share
NBC 13.4/21
Fox 7.3/11
CBS 3.3/ 5
ABC 2.5/ 4
CW 0.7/ 1
Note: The year-to-year comparisons will be excluded during the XXII Winter Olympics
———-
-Winners:
XXII Winter Olympics (NBC)
-Honorable Mention:
“American Idol” (Fox)
-Losers (excluding repeats):
“Super Fun Night” (ABC)
———-
-Ratings Breakdown:
Ongoing The Winter Olympics led NBC to midweek victory, of course, with a 13.4 rating/21 share in the household overnights last night (peaking at a 14.6/21 in the 10 p.m. half-hour). But two-hours of “American Idol” on Fox was still on the map with a 7.3/11 from 8-10 p.m. Comparably, that was 18 percent below the 8.9/13 one week earlier.
Distant third-place CBS, which decided to encore the Beatles special from Sunday evening, opened with a repeat of “Mike & Molly” at a 3.2/ 5 at 8 p.m. (#3, tied with a repeat of “The Middle” on ABC). And that led into the “The Beatles: The Night That Changed America – A Grammy Salute” second-run at a 3.3/ 5 from 8:30-11 p.m.
Elsewhere, only failing freshman sitcom “Super Fun Night” was original on ABC, and it was lost opposite The Winter Olympics at a series-low 2.5/ 4 (#4) at 9:30 p.m. Comparably, that was 29 percent below the repeat of “Modern Family” (#3: 3.5/ 5) at 9 p.m. Needless to say, “Super Fun Night” is just waiting for the axe to swing. Next on ABC was a repeat of sophomore drama “Nashville” at a third-place 1.7/ 3 at 10 p.m. Out of aforementioned “The Middle” was a repeat of “Suburgatory” at a fourth-place 2.6/ 4 at 8:30 p.m.
The CW populated the evening with 2000 “Best in Show” at a 0.7/ 1 in the overnights from 8-10 p.m.

Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).
Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.
Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.
If you’re interested in Ratings/Renewals/Cancellations then we have a number of resources here at SpoilerTV that we recommend you check out.
If those metered market ratings hold, SFN could not even beat a repeat of Suburgatory! If Mixology flops, Suburgatory will definitely come back. That show is really fun.
ReplyDeleteAiring SFN in a night full of repeats is a sure sign that the show has no future.
ReplyDeleteABC will probably renew Suburgatory and The Goldbergs, in your opinion, will Suburgatory stay at wed 8:30 PM, be moved to fridays, be a midseason replacement or be on another ABC comedy block (tuesdays?)?
ReplyDeleteI'm asking because ABC will choice between them to place at wed 8:30 PM next season.
SFN has no future ever since December when ABC decided to just give it a small bridge to suffer the Olympics bus while they wait to premiere Mixology. It's not the fact that it aired amidst repeats that shows that. In fact, both The Neighbors and Suburgatory had in nights with repeats only last year and both were renewed. Happy Endings also aired in nights only with repeats in Season 2 and got renewed. It's a stupid stupid strategy, yes, but it doesn't mean the shows are cancelled.
ReplyDeleteI think that Suburgatory could possibly move to Fridays to make room for The Goldbergs. Suburgatory after Modern Family did not work in Season 2, so the chances of that happening are sadly slim.
ReplyDeleteI agree.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the Olympics?
