Pretty Little Liars- 4.18 "Hot for Teacher"-Review

Last night's episode was the most interesting of the season so far, in my opinion. We got a glimpse of Alison on the run, in real time, our girls (minus Aria, of course) got some leads on the -A of it all, and Ezra out-creeped himself (I think I say this every week but it just KEEPS. HAPPENING.)

Shauna/Shana made her return to and exit from Rosewood in record time. We saw her chatting with Alison, who was on the run in a phone booth in need of money. Em figured out who it was, but Shauna/Shana wasn't letting any info slip...except that she knew about the Spencer fiasco.

Speaking of, Spence was on edge this week and rightfully so! Her best friend's boyfriend is trying to murder she and her other friends, and now she needed to find a new pill dealer as well. Andrew was "out" so she tried to Hastings-charm some out of a girl in her class. Unfortunately, said girl was already dealing said pills and saw right through said charm. What's more awkward then buying prescription pills in the middle of a school hallway? -A calling you over for a chat literally as soon as the transaction is completed, which led to the Spencer/Ezra faceoff that left me feeling super uneasy for my favorite liar. Spencer didn't win that one, yall.

After Ezra verbally bitch slapped Spence and stole her file from the school, he manipulated Aria into getting away with him at the cabin for a weekend. Once there, Aria genuinely surprised me by letting Ezra know she was leaving because she didn't feel right about sneaking around and lying to everyone about their relationship again...then she genuinely unsurprised me by letting him talk her into staying. I really don't know how he could have been more blatantly manipulative, but you know what they say....love is blind. We got confirmation that the basement of the cabin is the new -A lair and saw that Ezra have Rosewood WIRED, meaning dude has video cameras EVERYWHERE. Yikes...

Hanna is completely on top of things now that her heart's broken (SN: what's with the girls having to be dysfunctional in some way in order to get things done?) and noticed that Spencer's starting to resemble Jack Skellington, so she and Em followed her home and staked her out. She lied to them about being there, but the trip wasn't a complete waste...the two saw Shauna/Shana coming out of Mrs. DiLaurentis' house. Um, odd!

Even more odd? Shauna/Shana showing up at Em's house asking for her help. Emily figures out with her brain that this would be the perfect opportunity to get info out of Shauna/Shana. We learned that Wren hired Shauna/Shana to ship stuff for him and asked her to be discreet when he found out she went to Rosewood and that's totally not sketchy at all. She needed Em's help to get the French poster from Ali's room, which she couldn't get from the house when they saw her earlier. Em agreed and ended up finding an envelope with $5000 and a note. Guess we know what Ali did with all the money she blackmailed and extorted from her fellow Rosewooders. Shauna/Shana said she'd meet Emily at her job to pick the money up, but never showed because -A knocked her out and wrote her a threatening message, causing her to abandon her lifetime friend and flee Rosewood, never to return. Rosewood:3 Black Characters on Pretty Little Liars: . (SN: I'm mainly upset about the lamemess of Shauna/Shana's exit, which just seemed poorly written. If the liars had done that the first time they were threatened, a lot of people in Rosewood would still be alive and we wouldn't be pulling our hair out each week.)

Hanna decided to get to the bottom of Spencer's weirdness and detective-d her way into Spence's room. Within a few keystrokes on her laptop, Hanna caught on to Ezra as -A secret and tracked Spencer to Ezra's apartment. Before either entered, Spence spotted a camera in the vent and got them the hell outta there.

Now that Shauna/Shana is missing as far as the Liars know, Em spills the beans to Hanna and Spencer, who in turn spill their beans right back. Everyone (once again, minus Aria) is clued in on what's going on and I for one cannot wait to witness the awkwardness that is sure to ensue.

Odds and Ends:

- Who was photographing Shauna/Shana and Emily outside of Em's house?
- I yelled at the screen when Emily stashed Ali's money in the coffee bag. She's had this perfect combo of poor decision making and bad luck this season so I just KNEW that money would be gone. Glad it wasn't!
-How long before Aria finds out about Ezra now that she's the odd girl out?
-Now that Ali's out of money, where will she go?
- This week's -A scene featured -A watching an old black and white movie while packaging up WREN KINGSTON prescription pads!Thoughts on what this could mean? I have a bad feeling Spencer's about to be set up by Ezra now that he has her file and those prescription pads could be a key.

Let me know your thoughts and let's have a pretty little chat below!

  1. Totally agree about Emily putting money in the coffee bag... U thought it was hanna and the money in the lasagna all over again. Glad they didn't do that ...., tho I wonder why make a big deal of it, she could have just kept the envelope on her. Season 4B has been miles better then 4A with the Alison and Ezra reveal ... I am expecting some more twists tho and refuse to believe Alison is the 'innocent runaway' that she claims.

  2. * I thought was Hanna......

  3. I CERTAINLY don't believe Ali is on the run for simply "telling the truth to the wrong person at the wrong time." That girl is responsible for every single one of her problems. I absolutely love her as a character and how complex she is. Whenever I start to sympathize, I also end up with the feeling that Ali's playing me the same way she played everyone else around her.

Can't wait to find out why someone wants her dead!

  4. I am still on the thought that she will be behind the A stuff.... I doubt she wants the liars as friends. I think she been playing them and I am expecting huge twists by the end of this season. I like Hanna and the cop and can see that going somewhere. I like them playing on emily and alisons's feelings, however, i expected emily to be heart broken.

  5. Anybody knows which movie is that in the end?

  6. I think that Ezra is a P.I. hired by Peter Hastings. Peter explains in season 2 that he hired one to look into Alison's disappearance, and I think that Ezra went over the top because he was in love with her and found out that she was cheating on him with the "Beach Hottie" (Wren) and so they're teaming up to find her and kill her.
