  1. Wow, that was intense! Poor Skye. And I loved Coulson, Ward, and Jemma's reactions to what happened to her.

Great episode and I loved it. Hee at Coulson and Ward not being able to figure out the computer.

  2. It's like a month until the next episode I think...I hope you won't think less of me if I curse loudly and frequently about that.

  3. Awesome episode! This show just keeps on getting better and better.

Woah at Skye getting shot. I was not expecting that. And Coulson and Simmons breaking down broke my heart. I loved that Fitz comforted Simmons.

LOL at Ward and Coulson not knowing how to zoom in on the holotable. That was great.

And I'm glad that Mike is back. Looks like we are starting to see his transformation into Deathlok. Can't wait!

P.S. I am royally pissed that ABC is not airing the next episode until March 4th when we just got off of a 3 week hiatus. I hate you so much right now, ABC.

  6. Was Ward blaming May?

  7. Coulson is so protective of Skype. he treating her like his own daughter I think or father figure. We all know she won't die, and Coulson will do anything to save her

  8. It replaced FZZT as my favorite episode which I did NOT expect to happen so quickly.

Some great character building blended with plenty of action. If this is the show going forward we're in for one hell of a ride.

  9. Coulson. He(Ward) mentioned how driven Skye and Coulson have been since their talk in 'Seeds'.

My guess is he thinks if Coulson hadn't been so personally invested in catching Quinn they would have been more careful with their approach to this mission.

  10. Nice of them to acknowledge that the MCU hasn't forgotten the individual Hulk movies.

  11. Wow, this was such a great episode. I really leaked how found out one by one what happened with everybody at the train. I know Skye won't die but I really didn't expect her being shot. I loved Simmons in this episode and i teary eyes when she broke down in Fitz arms.

And a month till the next episode?

  12. I think this episode was the best so far. emotionally at least.
Poor Skye, her shooting scene was so heartbreaking, and i am upset that Quin is the one to do it.
I love father/daugther relationship going on between Coulson/Skye.
Am i the only one who thought Ward was jealous of Coulson helping May with her wound. And by the looks of it he has every right to be jealous. I want Coulson/May to happen.

  13. Well I loved this weeks episode, very intense and while some things became clear quickly, it was still very thrilling. My only complaint is the break for the Olympics.

But it all came together well. Fight scenes were good, loved May in the barn especially. The comic relief of seeing Ward and Coulson utterly fail with the holotable thing. Then Fitz and Skye being badass, first on the train and then at the manor. I really love watching them and Simmons get in on the action.

From this episode I can see a bit of a rift forming between Ward and Coulson. Ward's got jealousy over May, and he also doesn't like how Coulson is using Skye. He's smart enough to know better than to let his thing with May get in the way of his doing his job, but this episode hinted that he's actually going to struggle a lot to stay professional. Which is good because if he kept a handle on his emotions I'd have kept thinking of him as the team robot.
Interested in his dynamic with Skye and where that goes, Ward's got just as many emotions going there as Coulson does.

  14. Fantastic episode. It was electric, full of action, and the cast was so in perfect sync here. Very well done. And the end, omg...breathtaking!!

I watched a interview with Chloe Bennet and she mentions that Skye will have a big turn in the show, and now i really think she was talking about these events, and i think they will really change Skye somehow.

and omg, Simmons crying was so heartbreaking.

Is it my impression or Coulson and May really had a moment and Ward realized? hmm

Is really sad that we have another hiatus, and it is really painful after a great episode like this one..i think this is really my favorite episode so far, along with FZZT.

  16. The best episode so far, Quinn is a bastard, I hope Skye lives (I'm joke she will live). Deathlock entry was good, can't wait for more.

  17. Its funny how Olympics is the blame for this which i agree but the funnier part is Sochi isnt even freaking ready for the Olympics as i saw on the news today that they have encounter problems and complaints from Athletes.

  18. I apparently missed the reference, what was it?

  19. "Blonsky" was mentioned in the episode. Aka The Abomination from the Edward Norton 'Hulk' movie.

  20. I got the same feeling too. When this show started I did not expect any May/Coulson but now I think I like it. Plus, May actually smiled when she found a pulse in "frozen" Coulson, which makes me suspicious. Definitely better than May/Ward which I find completely uninteresting.

  21. I think May cares about ward and finds him attractive as a male but i don't see the deep emotional connection she has with Coulson. They seem more suitable personality wise.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I agree. Plus, I think Ward starts to care a bit more than May does. Romantically at least. It's funny because at first I was so sure the show was gonna go for the obvious Skye/Ward pairing, but apparently they have other ideas. I guess it's good to be surprised.

  23. Great, an emotionally powerful episode that had a super clever structure and introduced a character from the comics without it feeling obligatory

  24. Wow hasn't this shown found its sweet spot? This was a perfect episode, it literally had everything I like about the show. Action, great storyline, moved the overall plot along, comedy, advancements of personal story-lines and lots of character moments and interactions. I love the whole team now, I really adore every single one of those people, it's ridiculous how much it changed up for me after the complaint initially. Fantastic. Let haters hate!

  25. ABC scheduling of the show has been mind blowing, I can't get over how bad it's been.

  26. I didn't mean that I was pleased about Ward/May. I was pleased that they didn't go the predictable Skye/Ward way and surprised me. Not that I would mind something happening between them in the future. On the May/Ward front, when I saw Ward going to May's room my reaction was "Oh no". But honestly I don't see it as anything serious so even if I don't like it I don't hate it either and back then I hadn't even considered May/Coulson as anything more than a friendship. That last bit has changed now, I think. I hope they do something with these two but if I'm being honest, I don't expect much. In shows like this where the focus is the team the writers rarely give us much romance, or any (I'm looking at you NCIS).

  27. What upset me the most is that i really dislike shows where everyone hooks up with everyone. And since i think Ward/Skye is inevitable and judging by the looks Coulson/May exchange they are also going to happen, and Fitz is giving puppy eyes to Skye, soon Skye/Ward will hook up, then MAy/Coulson then it's going to be weird because MAy/Ward already had sex. And before we know it Simmons/Fitz or Fitz/Skye will happen. It's just going to be messy. MAy/Ward had such great dynamic and they were the last people i'd expect to sleep together and now it's ruined. AoS is becoming a show with a lot of couples, and it's only a matter of time before fans divide and start figting over different couples. It's going to get messy.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I don't think it's the kind of show where everyone hooks up with everyone. I think that in most cases tension is all we're gonna get. I hope I'm wrong, actually, because I'm so sick of showrunners giving us hope about pairings and never putting them together.

  29. Entertaining episode! There was so much I liked about this episode. It had great pacing, kickass fight scenes, character moments, emotional impact, relationship moments between different team members, the direction, etc. The way they told the story, showing different parts of the train sequence from each team member's point of view, was a welcome change of pace, and kept the narrative interesting. The overall story, as a whole, for the episode, and its continuation of the Centipede/Clairvoyant/Quinn arc, was also well-written. This episode was also well-balanced in its storytelling for each team member, with every character given time to shine during their segment.

These characters have started to feel quite established, with quirks all their own. I like how Coulson seems to love Skye, and treat her like a daughter. Coulson and May's friendship and general closeness is great (is the show going to explore their chemistry?). I enjoyed Skye and Fitz' pretend dating, and general "buddy" vibe. It was also interesting to see Ward's developing feelings for May, with the concern for her, then jealousy, and confiding in her near the end of the episode. May's overall kickass-ness is always great to see (that barn scene was awesome). I'm really excited to see the continuation of this story.

  30. This is one of those shows where I'm SO relieved I stuck around past the initial so-and-so episodes, because it just keeps getting better and better. This was one of the best episodes yet.

The thing I'm really enjoying about AoS is the characters. The plot is serviceable, the action and effects are great and the witty dialogue is fun, but the show's core cast in particular has really won me over. We keep getting to know these characters better and they all prove to be so likable and engaging. The team dynamic also became so enjoyable so quickly. These people have only been working together for a fairly short time, but they already feel like a family and it's totally believable that they put their lives on the line for each other all the time.

This episode in particular did a few nifty things. First, the Rashomone-style storytelling where we get a different character's PoV every time. It was fun to try to guess what happened to everyone on the train and get a piece of the story every time, especially since the story was cleverly constructed (for example: it's only when we see May's side of the story that we realize that the grenade immobilized Ward and Coulson, rather than make the train vanish as it seemed from their PoV, who hotwired the vehicle they found off the road, why May killed that Italian dude when he showed up at the plane, etc.).

Another cool element was putting everyone in situations where they were out of their depth. Coulson and Ward trying to activate the hologram-table FitzSimmons always use was hilarious (as usual, cool special effects there). So was Simmons with her unnecessarily elaborate and dramatic cover story - it bordered on being annoying and over-the-top, but somehow I've grown to like her enough that I enjoyed it. Also, Fitz and Skye fighting in the train car and then infiltrating Quinn's mansion - poor Fitz for getting his ass kicked, but hey, he tried. I'm sure he'll get better with practice.

The action was solid, if not as good as in some past episodes. Ward's train car fight was a little messily edited, as was May's escape - although it was supremely cool (using the knife someone just stuck in you to cut free of your bonds? Hard. Freaking. Core.) May looked SO awesome and secret-agent-like when she sported those black gadget-glasses. I also liked that moment where a supremely pissed Ward burst into the mansion and took down everyone with pistols in both hands, and Coulson punching Quinn.

Finally, the team freaking out and almost despairing over Skye being shot was really touching - see what I said above about how they're like a family. It's the heart of this show that makes it work. Simmons got two great moments here: when she takes charge and orders the others to put Skye into the cryogenic machine to save her, and when she breaks down in Fitz's arms. Also, Coulson and Skye have such an effective father-daughter bond. His concern for her really comes through - he clearly feels responsible for putting her in harm's way to begin with. On that note, I'm starting to get curious if Ward/May will turn from FWB into an actual thing? Coulson's little jibe about how it obviously means more to Ward than he realizes if he can't even use the word "sex", and that scene between them near the end where May takes Ward's hand, seem to imply that.

Finally, I'm both horrified and intrigued by Mike's fate. (The "horrified" part also being visceral, because the actor is too hot to have his character disfigured like that. Sigh.) I wonder how much control he's got over his actions - he can do things of his own free will, hence writing that note asking to see his son, but I'm assuming that's only when they don't clash with his orders. The robo-leg they gave him is one wickedly cool special effect, I have to say.

Soooo... can't wait til this show gets back from hiatus! I'm glad the ratings are stable, if unspectacular, thus guaranteeing a second season.

  31. Yeah. Of course, putting Skye in harm's way isn't exactly anything new - she, Simmons and Fitz have all been in the line of fire despite their lack of field training - but this is the first time she's gotten seriously hurt. So it's no wonder Ward is looking to blame someone as an outlet for his frustration and anxiety.
