Could they have said something about the wall in the pilot? It seems they should have hinted about or at least make a reference to it before now... Oops,no not necessarily, they were shown out of order..I keep forgetting!!!
They mentioned the Wall in Blood Brothers! (I kept thinking it might be "Berlin Wall" -esque) and now I'm def thinking so, except that whatever is on the other side must be a doozie!
It def has to be a doozie! Doesn't it remind you of Fringe and the Observers? Pop is def building more XRN's (Observers) to fight and wipe out all that 'ruined' him. I'm sure there is so much more to than that but i see parallels between the two shows...
Wall was mentioned in Blood Brothers and my thoughts are still "Berlin War" -esque (def a Fringe wink 'over there' - Fringe had a lot of Nazi German parallels/allusions and the nightclub of James Hart is reminiscent to "Letters of Transit")
Although I had thought John's father might be villain before knowing about Nigel, I still think we might apply Elton John references to him, such as 'rocket man'! -- interestingly EJ's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road's" album cover is a characiture of Elton Wall walking through a hole in a regular brick wall into "Oz"...
As there were GREAT Fringe parallels, it's definitely meant to be some kind of doozie...I think it's meant to be a great mystery...I just hope we get a better sense of what exactly in the finale...
No you can watch it without missing too much of anything. The only thing that's noticeable is the progression of DRN's and KNX's relationship. The Wall was briefly mentioned in another episode, but nothing that gives anything away, except that there is a wall and that there was "a wall ordeal".
Loved it. So glad that we finally got some substantial movement on what might be the overall mythology CBS didn't do us any favors by airing the eps out of order, but I'm guessing that they might've done this as the remaining eps might be more focused on the mythology and might feel more serialized.... in any event, liked John L as the rogue robotics expert who might be in league/debt to this Syndicate that they keep mentioning.... I do hope we get to find out what's on the other side of the wall (other than the fact it looks like a really run down section of the area/city).....
My guess is wanting to push back the main plot type episodes to more towards the end, but even then some of their choices for airing certain episodes at a certain time have been very questionable.
Yeah, the only thing I can come up with is a law less area, where crimes are high and it is too dangerous to even attempt to control it. Maybe something bad happened there like a bombing or something.
Awesome, I loved John Larroquette was amazing and all the contributions this episode made to the mythology was outstanding. The messed up schedule couldn't even mess up this episode.
Awesome. The fight scene between DRN & Danica was top notch. I liked the Nigel character & sorta cant wait to see where that leads. Really liked every episode they have had so far. Fingers crossed FOX gives it a chance to develop past this season.
I know the WHITE TULIPS gave me such a pang. When the guy was handing the tulip to the girl all you see is his arm reaching out to her.It felt (to me anyway) like it was Joel's arm handing us the tulip....It sorta felt like an outta body experience...
I think it's lawless too, especially because the XRN was remincent of Xena Warrior Princess :P (also because of Fringe 2036 opening sequence with "prison wall" -but I'm hoping for something else, something 'mutant')
What's in it for Nigel? - The same thing for Walternate, Nero, Windmark, William Bell, ect - Revenge and/or to create the world they want...
The white tulips brought a smile when I saw them. I'm glad I gave the show another chance. Last time when I saw how badly out of order the episode was I switched channels. I'll be watching next time and just I hope the proper episode follows. There's great potential if they can get things in order I just hope it's not too late.
Wish I'd read all the comments before I'd made my first comment. I'd really hoped the proper episode would follow last night's. Airing episode 4 next is a real screw up. This mix up is the only thing that's been putting me off.
Yeah,i don't understand why they felt it necessary to show them out of order, that has definitely been off putting to a lot of people.
I keep thinking of Joel's words 'Its a cop show,a buddy show' which makes me wonder if we are expecting too much out of this show. Are we projecting something that will not happen?....
There's just so many things that bring back memories of Fringe. Right from the type of flower on down. It seems too much to be coincidence. For a couple of minutes at first last night, the evil as it turned out robotics expert reminded me of Walter. That last part was probably just my imagination. But I think there has to be something to the similarities.
Yes,true the bots reminded me of the Observers for sure. The wall too reminded me of Fringe. Can't go beyond wall =altverse and so on.These are the things that keep me going, keeps me watching.I just hope we do get more!
Ah, that's nice to know. I watched the first five, and I realized plot-wise I didn't seem to be missing a whole lot, but the unevenness of their relationship and banter just seemed uneven so I still may wait and just watch in order. I'm hoping if this show gets renewed they start adding some story arcs so FOX has no choice but to air them in the correct order.
An episode with this much action should have been more hyped. I loved it because John and Dorian have come a long way. And it also explained more about the androids in general.
I thought this was their best episode yet. The Wall actually reminded me of Game of Thrones. So pissed with Fox and their stupid decisions. Does anyone know the real order of episodes?
The wall is intriguing. I love how the relationship between Dorian and Kennex keeps growing. I just wish FOX would have aired the episode in the right order.
Silly little facts, I smiled when I recognized the EU parliament building in Brussels.
When it comes to the order. The only one I say was the best idea was putting "Simon Says" before "Unbound". Having Kennex be uneasy with Dorian on low power after uplifting him with "you are you", speech would have been awkward. Unless the reshoots were really something.
It was mentioned in "You Are Here" briefly as well (just watched the episode again) during the scene after Dorian takes the bullet and he's getting scanned for evidence or whatever. The voice of the computer says a standard speech to him (meant for civilians), part of which the voice says "and stay on the east side of the Wall".
Even with arcs Fox could find a way to push episodes back or something. I can only hope they just leave it totally alone going into the second season. They should cause supposedly the manipulation of episodes was to get viewers. The show now has a steady audience, I think.
I think the first chapter were all from the same "big arc", that started with the invasion in the first one. Danica's head was what they were after all this time. I guess Fox didn't love the "everything's connected" and asked for a more "case of the week vibe" to the last ones. When everything was said and done, Fox realized they had two different series on hand, so they imagined they could alternate episodes with 'cases of the week" and "Cases of the big mistery" and that would make for a more interesting series.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Loved the white tulip!
ReplyDeleteI smiled so hard when I saw the white tulips! Brought back great memories. Ahhh, how I miss Fringe.
ReplyDeleteI still don't understand why FOX had to mess with the order of the episodes. It seriously pisses me off. Do you have any reasons?
ReplyDeleteI kept waiting for someone to explain what was over The Wall. I hope it will be explained soon.
ReplyDeleteI did the same! I miss Fringe too dammit! lol...
ReplyDeleteYes,that one scene also reminded me of Terminator, especially when Dorian went threw the pillar,ha,it was great!
ReplyDeleteYeah,i figured the beyond the wall must be a lawless land and i'm sure all these XRN's will be 'born' there under the guidance of Papa!
Could they have said something about the wall in the pilot? It seems they should have hinted about or at least make a reference to it before now... Oops,no not necessarily, they were shown out of order..I keep forgetting!!!
ReplyDeleteThey mentioned the Wall in Blood Brothers! (I kept thinking it might be "Berlin Wall" -esque) and now I'm def thinking so, except that whatever is on the other side must be a doozie!
ReplyDeleteSadly based on all these comments I won't be able to catch up with Almost Human until the finale, when I can watch it in production order. GRR.
ReplyDeleteIt def has to be a doozie! Doesn't it remind you of Fringe and the Observers? Pop is def building more XRN's (Observers) to fight and wipe out all that 'ruined' him. I'm sure there is so much more to than that but i see parallels between the two shows...
ReplyDeleteLOVED IT! Can't wait to write my review!

LOL,Doppelganger! ;)
ReplyDeleteYa!! they referred to the 'other side' as "over there" and I think there is a sense of Walternate/William Bell and "Nazi Germany" war-like atmosphere!
ReplyDeleteI know, seriously we are so much alike! :D
ReplyDeleteAs there were GREAT Fringe parallels, it's definitely meant to be some kind of doozie...I think it's meant to be a great mystery...I just hope we get a better sense of what exactly in the finale...
ReplyDeleteIt is mentioned in Blood Brothers, it is what Ethan Avery had taunted Maldonado about...

ReplyDeleteI thought the Terminator too! :D
ReplyDeleteDefinitely was thinking of Terminator 3.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm anxious to see more of your thoughts on the episode.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure too that it's supposed to be a mystery, but it's bugging me.
ReplyDelete*In whiny, pouty voice* I want to know!
My guess is wanting to push back the main plot type episodes to more towards the end, but even then some of their choices for airing certain episodes at a certain time have been very questionable.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the only thing I can come up with is a law less area, where crimes are high and it is too dangerous to even attempt to control it. Maybe something bad happened there like a bombing or something.
ReplyDeleteFor me the only thing lacking is continuity because of the lack of order of episodes. That and maybe a little more out of work scenes.
ReplyDeleteAwesome, I loved John Larroquette was amazing and all the contributions this episode made to the mythology was outstanding. The messed up schedule couldn't even mess up this episode.
ReplyDeleteAwesome.

I think you mean FOX, not a CBS show.
ReplyDeleteyep, that's what I meant. thanks for the catch.. :)

All Fox's fault. I am so annoyed with the network's treatment of this show.

ReplyDeleteAs it turns out it was mentioned in Arrhythmia and the Pilot too!(I missed most of the earlier ones) There is finally an Almost Human wiki!
ReplyDeletehttp://almost-human.wikia.com/wiki/The_Wall
Shows how observant I am - though it is usually only seen with a glimpse and passingly mentioned.
ReplyDelete"Thank you for your cooperation, and remember: Hugs, not drugs. Stay on this side of the Wall and respect authority." - CSI scanner
I didn't hear all of the quote. Hugs not drugs. XD lol
now it's getting interesting :D
