Jane The Virgin - Gina Rodriguez gets Lead Role

Filly Brown star Gina Rodriguez is set to topline the CW‘s drama pilot Jane The Virgin, in keeping with the project’s Latin roots. Based on the successful Venezuelan telenovela Juana la Virgen, Jane The Virgin, from CBS Studios, centers on Jane (Rodriguez), a hardworking religious girl who, due to a series of outragesilberlingous events, is accidentally artificially inseminated. Jennie Snyder Urman wrote the adaptation and is executive producing with Electus’ Ben Silverman as well as Gary Pearl and Jorge Granier. Brad Silberling, who directed the pilot for CW/CBS Studios drama Reign last season, has been tapped to direct.

Secrets and Lies - Indian Evans added as Regular, Charles Dutton, Steven Brand and Kate Ashfield get Recurring Roles

Australian actress Indiana Evans, who toplined Lifetime’s Blue Lagoon reboot, rounds out the regular cast of ABC’s drama pilot Secrets & Lies, which has a series penalty. It centers on Ben (Phillippe), a family man who becomes the prime suspect in the murder of a young boy when he finds the body. Evans will play Natalie, Ben and Christy’s (KaDee Strickland) teenage daughter. Set as recurring in the project are Charles Dutton as Kevin Williams, one of the neighbors; and Steven Brand (Magic City) and Kate Ashfield (Shaun Of The Dead) as fellow neighbors, married couple Joseph and Vanessa Turner.

How To Get Away With Murder - Liza Weil joins cast

Shonda Rhimes has drafted Liza Weil, who recurred on her hot ABC drama Scandal, for the ABC drama pilot How To Get Away With Murder starring Viola Davis, which Rhimes exec produces. The sexy, suspense-driven legal thriller centers on ambitious law students and their brilliant and mysterious criminal defense professor (Davis) who become entangled in a murder plot that could rock their entire university and change the course of their lives.Weil will play one of the professor’s two associates.

Identity - Stephen Haga joins cast
Irish actor Stephen Hagan has been cast in CW pilot Identity, exec produced by Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci. It centers on Mia (Ahna O’Reilly), a young New Yorker who learns she needs an organ transplant to survive and her only living relative is a newfound half-brother, Davis (Matt Barr), the charming, privileged only son of a wealthy and powerful Charleston family. She connects with them only to find they’re the target of a CIA investigation for involvement in domestic terrorism, and the agency wants her as their newest informant. Hagan will play Jasper, Davis’ handsome, mysterious, and magnetic best friend who has chemistry with Mia from the moment the meet.

Old Soul - Ellen Burstyn to Co-Star

Amy Poehler’s NBC comedy pilot Old Soul already boasts two Oscar winners, and casting is barely half-way done. Ellen Burstyn is set for a plum lead role opposite Natasha Lyonne in the single-camera pilot written/exec produced by Poehler, Josh Bycel and Jonathan Fener and directed by David Wain. Old Soul centers on a reformed wild child Nadia (Lyonne) who has a business caring for the elderly and feels she has more in common with her colorful old clients than she does with people her age. Burstyn will play aunt Nadia’s aunt Eileen, an earthy lesbian with a New Age bent who has recently survived cancer. Nadia may take care of her elderly clients, which are Eileen’s friends, but Eileen takes care of Nadia

Mission Control - Tommy Dewey to Co-Star
The Mindy Project alum Tommy Dewey will star opposite Krysten Ritter in NBC’s pilot Mission Control, a Universal TV-produced comedy from executive producers Adam McKay and Will Ferrell. A workplace ensemble set in 1962, Mission Control examines what happens when a strong woman (Ritter) butts heads with a macho astronaut (Dewey) in the race to land on the moon. Dewey’s Tom is the newest member of Mission Control, a former test pilot who quickly bonds with the gagarinmale crew and immediately bumps heads with Mary (Ritter).

Supernatural: Tribes - Danielle Savre and Stephen Martines to Co-Star

Danielle Savre (Heroes) is set as one of the female leads in Supernatural: Tribes, the CW’s planted Supernatural spinoff, which will air as an episode of the veteran sci-fi series on April 29. Also set for a lead role in the project is former Vampire Diaries recurring player Stephen Martines, who will be joining fellow TVD alums Nathaniel Buzolic and Sean Faris as well as Lucien Laviscount. Written by Andrew Dabb and directed by Robert Singer, the sweeping drama revolves around the various mafia-esque monster families that unknowingly to humans “run” the underbelly of Chicago and are being tracked by a newly minted Hunter who’s trying to stop them and rid Chicago of anything or anyone supernatural. Savre plays Margo, the acting head of the leading shapeshifter family, an ex-punk rocker-turned-corporate professional who feels threatened only by the return of her prodigal brother David (Buzolic) into the family. Martines plays Detective Freddie Costa, a world-weary Chicago cop who serves as a mentor to Ennis (Laviscount) but also is secretly on the payroll of one of the powerful monster families.

More Time With Family - Joe Pantoliano to Co-Star

CBS‘ comedy pilot More Time With Family continues to add boldface names. Emmy-winning Sopranos alum Joe Pantoliano has joined the multi-camera project, toplined by Tom Papa and Alyson Hannigan, executive produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, written/exec produced by Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith and directed by James Burrows. Based on the stand-up of Papa and the experiences of Damon, the 20th TV-produced project centers on Tom (Papa), a husband and father making a career change to spend more time with his family. Pantoliano plays Stan Rizzo, Tom’s brash, opinionated, old-school father.

Babylon Fields - Kyle Schmid cast as Male Lead

Kyle Schmid (Copper) is set for a lead role opposite Meagan Good in NBC drama pilot Babylon Fields, from Michael Cuesta, Gerald Cuesta and Michael Atkinson. The 20th TV-produced project, originally developed and piloted at CBS seven years ago, is about a town’s residents coming back from the dead. Schmid will play Thomas Wunch who works for the CDC as a scientist and is Janine’s (Good) first love.

Julie Meyer (How I Met Your Mother, The New Normal) has booked a series regular role in NBC’s pilot Mission Control, a Universal TV-produced comedy from executive producers Adam McKay and Will Ferrell. A workplace ensemble set in 1962, Mission Control examines what happens when a strong woman (Krysten Ritter) butts heads with a macho astronaut (Tommy Dewey) in the race to land on the moon. Meyer will play Carol Ann, the earnest, upbeat secretary working for on-site administrator Bob Korman.
