The studio behind the Hunger Games franchise which introduced the late Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee in last year’s Catching Fire has released a statement on the actor’s passing: “Philip Seymour Hoffman was a singular talent and one of the most gifted actors of our generation. We’re very fortunate that he graced our Hunger Games family. Losing him in his prime is a tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Philip’s family.”

We’re hearing Hoffman had completed the majority of his work on Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2 prior to his sudden death Sunday morning. He had seven days of filming to go before wrapping Mockingjay Part 2.

  3. He was an amazing and outstanding actor. This isn't just a huge loss for the film industry but also crushing for the many young actors that looked up to him.

Sadly, drugs seem to have again taken another great actor away.

I'm absolutely shocked. he was incredible in Catching Fire, I don't want another actor to tarnish the beauitful work he put into Heavensbee. Thoughts are with his family & friends.. life really is short.

  7. Damn those drugs. He had three kids and a wife and I wish he thought more about them and used their support to fight his addiction. He was a great actor and he will be missed. I'm sorry for his family.
