Miles Teller, Kate Mara and Jamie Bell will join Michael B. Jordan in the latest installment in the comicbook franchise.
Mara recently closed a deal to play play Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman. While no offer is out yet, Bell is expected to be tapped to play Ben Grimm/The Thing. Teller has an offer to play Reid Richards/Mr. Fantastic, but deal points are a little further away from being completed.

Doesn't feel right.
ReplyDeletewell, that is sounds interesting. looking forward...
ReplyDeleteso are the storm siblings adopted or are they half siblings? Or are we gonna totally ignore the fact that the black guy is Johnny storm now? I dont get why are they changing race of classic comic character, there is quite a lot black superheroes, maybe they should make a movie about one of them instead.
ReplyDeleteNot even Kate Mara can make me see this reboot. The first two even not a blockbusters i liked them a lot. So to me this is not needed reboot.
ReplyDeletekate mara feels more right than michael...
ReplyDeleteThe rights have to come back to Marvel. Now.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy Michael B Jordan has been cast, great actor and really the race shouldn't matter at all. Johnny and Sue can be adopted or half siblings, comic book movies change things all the time why not race? Its like when everyone flipped out over Idris Elba being Heimdall or Samuel L Jackson being Fury in the end people get over it. Frankly I hope we see more outside of the box casting, whether it be gender, race or just actors you wouldn't expect.
ReplyDeletehonestly the old movies were not that great so at least they are doing something different and all the actors including Michael can act which is the most important thing at the end of the day . Miles is a wild card but maybe this will actually work besides l think Johnny will be adopted so it doesn't matter .Johnny and Sue have a great relationship, this is more 21st century and reflects families now compared to 30 , 40 years ago .
ReplyDeletel don't get the point of complaining until even reviews or the movie is actually released . Race shouldn't matter but this would be a different case if a caucasian actress was cast as Storm because she was one of the first black superheroes probably first female , Johnny race has never been that big of a deal in comparison.
That said l understand how you feel.
There is absolutely no excuse for changing the appearence of a known character that drastically. And it's ridiculous that saying anything against it is considered racism by some people - It's not. Johnny Storm is an established character - everyone knows him, everyone has the same idea of what he's supposed to look like thanks to the previous movies and cartoons, not just comic book readers (unlike Nick Fury for instance).
ReplyDeleteWhy not make johnny storm a 50yr old women...as a means of combatting sexism and ageism. This is annoying, as aren't characters from comic books suppose to resemble their character? Furthermore, I don't even think a reboot is needed.
ReplyDeleteFreaking love Kate Mara.
ReplyDeleteI liked the original cast , it just wont be the same.
ReplyDeleteThe only one in the original cast that I did not feel quite right about, was Jessica Alba. If they had kept her real appearance for the 2nd movie, it may have been better.
ReplyDeleteFor the reboot, they should've gone with a white actor to play Johnny Storm, or in the least, have the same ethnicity of both brother (Johnnny) and sister (Sue). The original Ben Grimm (Michael Chiklis) played the role perfectly, as did Chris Evans (Johnny). These days however, Evans is more familiar as Captain America, and likely not interested in reprising the role.
No Alba???im crying like a little baby right now..
ReplyDeleteI am not sure if I want to see this movie or not and it isn't because of the casting. It's because most of the Marvel movies suck in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteAs for the casting of Johnny Storm, I don't mind him being black but I am curious how they are going to explain having Sue being white if they are brother and sister. Is one or both adopted or are they not brother and sister?
I like this cast.
ReplyDeleteI might watch this.
ReplyDeleteI really have no opinion at all on the cast until I see any movie before making judgement.
ReplyDeleteI think that'd be the best explanation, him being adopted.
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued to say the least.
ReplyDeleteOr her being adopted :)
ReplyDeleteSame here.
ReplyDeleteOh yes! Did not even think of that.
ReplyDeleteNot thrilled,to be honest. My main problem is how young they all look.Despite their faults,I think the casting for the first movies was spot on,and to be honest,I really liked them.
ReplyDeleteI mean,Jamie Belle as The Thing?I don't know..And I'm actually a huge fan of him.
Me too.
ReplyDeleteNo. Ironman doesn't need more supporting characters.
ReplyDeleteshe was aweful
ReplyDeletethe cast is suckish but maybe they'll prove me wrong and make it work i just think it's unlikely
ReplyDeleteKate Mara!
ReplyDeleteCool! I wasn't the biggest fan of the past movies but I thought they were alright I guess. I don't know the comics that well so that probably worked in my favor with those.
ReplyDeleteAnd I have no problem with casting black actors for characters who have usually been white. Honestly, I don't care. But I'm just curious how they're going to pull off him and Sue being siblings. I mean, if she was also black then no problem! But with one black and one white...I'm interested in how they'll explain it. I've seen ideas that they're half-siblings or maybe even adopted.
Either way, I'm looking forward to the movie! Hope it does great!
So Sue Storm or Johnny Storm is adopted? WTF?? If one is black then the other has to be black too
ReplyDeleteWhat about a asian redhair Daenerys? I mean, we can get over it.
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting cast, I'm definitely in. Michael B. Jordan is going to nail it.
ReplyDeleteI agree! It would be like making The Thing green or purple. I want continuity.
ReplyDeleteI agree! You don't make The Thing green or purple for example.
ReplyDeleteOr they don't have the same father or mother.
ReplyDeleteI love Jamie Bell, but I just can't see him as Ben Grimm/The Thing. It just... it doesn't compute. He doesn't have the build or the look for the character. I think Michael Chiklis did an awesome job playing The Thing in the original, he just fit the part perfectly in every way. Even if they want to go with all new actors, they should still go with someone similar. As soon as I saw that Jamie Bell would be playing in it, I assumed that he would be playing Johnny Storm. I think he would fit that part perfectly.
ReplyDeleteIt feels like this reboot is purely being made to try to appeal to younger people in hopes that it'll be a blockbuster this time around. How many times has this been tried and failed? Taking it younger doesn't make it any better. It kinda makes me want to roll my eyes and not take it seriously unless it's a prequel (which this really doesn't seem like). I was in the minority that liked the first movie, so taking it younger definitely won't make it more appealing to me.
As for the Storm siblings... I honestly don't care if you change their race, but it does bother me if you don't keep them the same race. They're either going to be half-brother/half-sister, step siblings, adopted, or, if you really wanna take it out there and make it kinda cheesy, some sort of lab experiment thing. Simple cannon changes are fine, but don't go messing with siblings like that. There's just no good reason for it.
not too sure about this casting :\
ReplyDeleteI would love that! Seriously.
ReplyDeleteI wish they just recast johnny's role since like you said the actor is now playing captain america but to recast all four is just irritating as the actors who played them were great and that's probably why i enjoyed them so much.
ReplyDeleteI agree, but Alba is Alba,so no matter how awful was,she remains Alba...
ReplyDeleteIts rare but I remember seeing an article where twin girls were born to a couple, one was white and the other black. Those were twins but I'm sure it can happen to siblings born years apart. I'm not someone who knows genes and DNA, but it wouldn't be impossible if they were going to go down that route with them being biological siblings.
ReplyDeleteI've seen many article's where black parents find themselves with blonde haired blue eyed babies even lol. That would be a shock!
ReplyDeleteYa, that could happen. My middle school social studies teacher was pasty white, like his dad, and his two brothers had really dark skin like their dark-skinned, Native American brothers. So ya, I could totally see them using that as an explanation. Gotta love DNA!!
ReplyDeleteMy god. I hope this isn't the final decision. Not liking this cast at all. I have nothing against the actors/actresses. But i don't see ANY of them playing these characters. And it makes no sense that MBJ will be playing Johnny, and Mara play Sue. Helloooo they're siblings. And they're white! That will ruin the entire Marvel Universe, regarding the F.F. That's like saying "Oh let's make a DC movie, and we'll put Zan and Jayna in it, only Jayna will be black." (The Wonder Twins). Ummm, no. Doesn't work. (And this is coming from a black female).
ReplyDeleteWow... these guys are REALLY young. Isn't peaking my interest at all.
ReplyDeleteI don't get all the fuzz either. It's a reboot, things are supposed to be different.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of anything comic related, so maybe I'm on the outside and just don't get why y'all want this movie to stick to the original material but doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of a reboot?
ReplyDeleteIsn't a reboot supposed to recreate the characters in a different way, regardless of what has been done in previous adaptations?
