Greta Gerwig has landed the leading role on the How I Met Your Mother spin-off How I Met Your Dad, TVGuide.com has learned.
From HIMYM creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, as well as Up All Night creator Emily Spivey, the comedy pilot tells a brand new story from the point of a view of a woman named Sally (Gerwig).
Gerwig, who will also write and produce HIMYD, was most recently received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy for her performance in Frances Ha.
How I Met Your Dad is slated to shoot its pilot in Los Angeles, but will move production to New York should the comedy be picked up to series.

Awesome news!
ReplyDeleteI like her, I think was a good choice.
ReplyDeleteOriginal Comment Removed By Me: I don't want to comment my negative comment on the lead role.
ReplyDeleteThen don't?
ReplyDeleteHope she does a good job! This show could be amazing if they pick the right actors.
ReplyDeleteNo idea who she is, but I am willing to give it a shot.
ReplyDeleteKnowing Hollywood she's someone's girlfriend/niece/mistress... Because you know, you just have to have her star AND write AND produce like poor little rich insider Lena Dunham or "so [un]funny we had to have her do two shows at once" Whitney Cummins...
ReplyDeleteThat will be another one for me to avoid like the plague.
If you like Hollywood insiders getting multiple plum jobs for no particular reason, then it's a great day!
ReplyDeleteAnother thin g this tells me is that the Creators have zero say as to the casting. I don't think any writer-producer would willingly take on a star/writer/producer as a partner (unless they were best buds and had worked together before). This one has the small of network execs pushing their buddy/girlfriend/niece onto a show that didn't sound all too exciting in the first place...
