how much time passed since the events of the last episode? Because at 14minutes4seconds the dragon looks MUCH bigger than it was in the last scene of the last episode of season 3! Do the dragons in the books grow so fast?
Some things really stood out to me.. Jaime sparring with Bronn! - I think a few of us had speculated that Bronn may take the place of Ilyn Payne due to Wilko Johnson's cancer diagnosis and this was the first confirmation. I cannot wait to see the which man has the sharpest... snark! XD
Meereen looked AMAZING! - Cannot wait to see more of the City of the Harpy and I am betting that the VFX breakdowns will be mind-blowing!
Shhhh, be wery, wery qwuet! We're hunting wabbit! - It looks like we will get to see the Bastard of Bolton on his twisted hunt for female prisoners!
The Purple Wedding looks amazing! - it looks so huge and extravagant! Early in the series some of the events suffered by looking too small in scale. I think D&D have fixed that problem! XD
Who let the Thenns out? - It looks like Styr and Tormund are eading the Wilding army's attack, bt there was no sight of Mance!
Who guards the gate? - Without the introduction of Donal Noye I have been wondering who will take his part in one of the more memorable scenes from the Castle Black defense. Seeing Grenn at the gate makes me wonder like a few people had before if he will more or less play Noye's part....
I call it Oathkeeper! - Jaime giving Brienne the pimped suit of armor makes me wonder if they will ignore the Valryan stell sword plotline yet again. Ice was introduced in Season 1 and I think viewer's would recall, but I wonder if they replaced the sword Jaime gives Brienne with the armor in the preview....
Needle! - The little smile Arya give as she rides away with Needle tucked in her belt is priceless!
There is a shot of two swords being made, hot steel poured into something, one bigger one smaller. Also a shot of Joff admiring a sword in his hands. Also a still from some time ago with brienne and Jaime where she holds a sword.
As for Grenn, he may serve as the one to fight the giant but as an adviser Sam will surely fill Donal's part.
Oh yeah, Duh! Somehow I managed to not catch the swords being forged right at the start! Thanks!
I wonder if they will ever truly introduce the Valyrian steel swords into the series?
It is of course a much larger part of the books. I kind of assumed that Blackfyre and/ or Dark Sister showing up in the books is a possibility... and I know many people always assumed the great sword Dawn will play an important role in the endgame of the series. Although I guess Dawn is not a Valyrian steel sword at all now that I think of it...
The Castle Black defense part was really good in the book. I hope it turns out well in this, and that it's not just one battle...I liked from the books how it went on for days...everyone restless...resources exhausting...Jon Snow, fighting, sleeping, waking up, fighting, on an endless loop...unsure when it will end. If they do that, then what happens to end the battle will be better earned. It was a really great moment in the book.
I hope so too! I agree that the length of time and multiple attacks played a role in how the battle affected everyone. I would hate to lose that in 15 minutes of only one episode.
That said, I can understand why they would combine or edit as well. There is such a limited amount of time in the 10 episodes....
True. Even though we missed the Chain Boom, the Three Whores, the ships crashing into each other...we got a pretty awesome Battle at Blackwater Bay. It was handled really well. I hope we see the giants...and the Turtle siege engines.
Blackwater Bay felt large in scale but at times almost intimate and seen through the eyes of individuals to me. I really hope that we get the epic scale, the hugeness of the Wildlings attack on the Wall.
More giants on mammoths! I want to see more tribes.. Harna's raiders,... Tormund's spear men etc.. more , more ,more
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Brilliant :D
ReplyDeleteIncredible. Just incredible.

Holy Hell, did you see that dragon? That thing was f***king enormous!
ReplyDeleteAlso, Gwendoline Christie has most mental laugh I have ever heard.
Can't wait to see this wedding! Looks so rich and opulent!
ReplyDeleteAnd oh,let there be dragons! First time i've seen Dani unsure of herself since S1..

You refer to something like this? :D
ReplyDeleteNice, I also spotted Bronn as Jamie's trainer. Happy to see that Jerome Flynn will have enough to do in Season 4.
ReplyDeleteCan they even go more cruel with Ramsay Snow? :D
You are right, for example the Tourney in Season 1 really looked small-scale compared to what we are getting now.
Great preview overall, should have gotten people excited again, who might have forgotten this show. lol
I assume that Time for Dany on the other continent passes faster than in Westeros.
ReplyDeleteOh Yeah,lol....

I love the goat in that shot. I mean, I love that dragon a LOT more, but that goat...
