  3. Can someone help me? All news outlets are saying Super Bowl is the most-watched U.S. telecast of all time at 111.5 million viewers. But what about MASH that scored 125 million viewers. I'm so confused.

  4. Mash was 105.9 million according to my records.

  5. I got my info from Wikipedia, so maybe that was households or a different type of rating demo? But that clears it up for me, so thank you so much for helping me out!

  6. Wow H50 is doing fantastic. That's pretty much what it was getting in the 18-49 on Mondays last season, only now it has 11 million viewers again. Season highs. Very nice to see. It was definitely a smart move by CBS to move it to Fridays.

  8. I'm confused again. Check Mash on Wikipedia and you'll see it says 125 million viewers there.

  9. I can only assume that 125 number is either wrong or also includes some other numbers.

  10. Do you think that maybe 125 was the preliminary before being adjusted down to 105 in the finals?

  11. I agree, I really like the show but I never expected it to do so well. To be fair, the quality of the season has also had a tremendous jump, the episodes this year have been awesome!

  12. I'm really not sure. Maybe they were counted differently in those days. For example I know that years ago to be counted as a viewer you only had to watch part of the show eg even if you watched the first couple of minutes and then turned over you still counted as a viewer. I think nowadays there is some minimum time a show must be watched before it counts. But I really don't know for sure as it was 30 years ago lol

  13. Hahaha, I understand that. Thank you very much for helping!

  14. This was the highest rated Superbowl of all time. They were only referring to other Superbowls not against dramas or comedies.

  15. Oh. But I did see some articles writing "Most-watched U.S. telecast of all time." as per my misunderstanding that maybe they counted everything. But if 105.9 million is the correct number for Mash, then they are right after all.

  16. Most Watched Superbowls.Where ever you read it they were wrong,or you misread. The second highest was 2 years ago when the Giants played, they had 111.3 million people watching. Here is but one article where i had read this today.

  17. I did some research, and found that Wiki, which says " "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen", becoming the most watched television episode in U.S. television history at the time, with a record-breaking 125 million viewers (60.2 Rating and 77 Share),[1] according to the New York Times.[2] links to an old article on NYTimes, that states: "the total audience for a show represents the total number of viewers who watched all or any part of it. Thus, the total audience tends to increase with the length of the show." So yeah, obviously they counted it VERY differently than we do today.
