Eleanor needs her father’s help to secure the weapons needed for the raid, so going against Miranda’s wishes he is brought out of hiding and back to town in order to meet up with someone who will be able to supply them with what is required. It's a huge gamble of course, much could go wrong in the trust they are putting in each other, but it give us some valuable insights into the lives of the three main characters involved, Eleanor, Richard and Mr Scott, along the way. They have had a long history together over the years and are able to subtlety exert pressure on each other in ways only a family unit can.
With Gates promoted to Captain there’s a new quartermaster on the Walrus but not everybody on board respects this new command. Even though they happily voted him in some feel they know more than he does, which leads to a few small changes to his orders behind his back over the course of the episode. Nothing too big, but these tiny deviations during this dangerous hull cleaning exercise add up, and when you factor in the men off sick due to Silver’s disastrous cooking skills, it isn't too long before the whole plan to set sail for the Urca de Lima could be over for one crew member this week!
