Beauty and the Beast - Episode 2.12 - Recipe for Disaster - Review

5 Feb 2014

This was truly another spectacular episode of Beauty and the Beast with so many developments to discuss.  Some of the events in this episode made me happier than others, but all in all, I think the dominoes are positioned to yield even more greatness as this season continues.

I look forward to the episodes (which I think are coming soon) when I can choose a nice, upbeat love song as the thematic accompaniment to my review.  However, for "Recipe for Disaster," I'm going to have to go with "Sad Dream" by Sky Ferreira, which pinpoints the sense of bittersweet melancholy that ran through this episode in such a delicately unpredictable way.

"Poured myself a warm glass, and laid awake
I prayed the lord my soul to take
I thought about you all day, how we have the same face
I fell asleep so confused, parts of me remind me of you

How could I ever wish away?"*

We opened on a super-cute scene of Catherine and Tess at a cooking class hosted by the former.  The theme of aphrodisiac recipes left Cat feeling awkward and Tess getting antsy to hit it off with someone before she's single for too long.  I recommend J.T., Tess!  They would be so adorable as a for-real couple.  Anyway, Tess started harping on why Cat hasn't started dating Gabe yet.  I do think that Tess has a tendency to be too gung ho on this topic. Let's face it, few viewers are all that eager for Cat/Gabe to happen.  Even I'm not into it, and I enjoy Gabe as a character.   However, this is typical girlfriend advice and it played out humorously.  Plus, Tess rules, so I auto-forgive her whenever we disagree.

J.T., who was absent last week, made up for it by being a wonderful and frequent presence in this episode.  While the gang threw him a party for supposedly winning an academic grant, he made the rounds blushing and hugging everyone...even Tori, who felt hurt by the awkward way she didn't fit into the group of friends.  Even Gabe seemed less of a sore thumb in the crowd than Tori, which wasn't really fair.  I have to say that starting with this scene, I started to truly feel for Tori more than I ever had in the past and felt some of my dislike for her character ebbing away...I should have known that was foreshadowing some dark times for her.

Vincent and Catherine had some fairly deep conversations at the party that nicely bookended the equally important talk they had at the end of the episode. In reflecting on the current state of their relationship, they noted,

Vincent: "Is that what we are now?  Friends?"
Catherine: "It's better than enemies."

I loved the way Vincent started wearing his heart on his sleeve regarding Cat so much more openly in this episode than he has in a long time.  His regret that they are just friends now was painfully apparent, and branched into his explanation of his problems with Tori.  When Catherine admitted that she often felt, as Tori does, excluded from Vincent's life, he replied, "Sorry I was such a pain."  A beautiful piece of the too-seldom-heard BatB score came drifting through as Vincent and Cat exchanged a heartfelt look that was exquisitely intense.

Unfortunately for poor J.T., who's been holding out for that grant for eight years, it was all a hoax orchestrated by a creepy villain, Frank Darnell.  He and his cohorts used the idea of the grant to lure J.T. to their underground lab/dungeon and force him to recreate the Muirfield beast serum.

Fortunately for poor J.T., even though Cat and Gabe were spending their time discussing Gabe's impending departure from the department and how that may impact their would-be romance, Tess had her eye on the ball.  She burst in, interrupting their flirtations.  "Don't you ever knock?" Gabe asked.  "Not when I think J.T.'s just been kidnapped," Tess retorted fabulously.

While J.T. stalled Darnell as best he could, Vincent and the others tried to coordinate a rescue, leaving Tori out in the cold.  Determined to make up for her fumble in tying Agent Landon up earlier in the episode and desperate to prove herself to Vincent, Tori took it upon herself to track J.T., which she pulled off quickly.  Being the wildcard she is, Tori's arrival (wherein she was, of course, immediately busted by Darnell, since this was a trap) misled the villain into assuming she was J.T.'s only beast associate. Little did he suspect that Vincent was incoming, which at least provided a tactical advantage.  While Vincent and the rest of the gang showed up in time to save J.T. and his fellow prisoner, Darnell had already put the beast collar on Tori and done some kind of scary blood drain on her (and who knows what else), leaving her on death's door.

Again, by this point I had really started to turn around in my opinions about Tori.  I used to hate her and think she was obnoxious, I admit.  But Tori so fiercely wanted to make up for her mistake and show Vincent that she could be a trustworthy and faithful friend that she went rushing in to rescue J.T. with little regard for her own safety.  She was brave and doomed in equal measures.

I can appreciate that being a beast has isolated her and left her with only Vincent to cling to, though I also agree with him that this very factor is the root of all of their problems together.  The show hasn't made it all that clear how close Vincent and Tori actually became in their quasi-relationship (even Tori wasn't sure how to term it, though she and Vincent were clearly co-habitating in their cute little bathrobes earlier in the hour).  But it seems they have been bonding because of two main aspects: 1) their chemical, beastly attraction to one another, and 2) the fact that they are both living on the fringes of society, struggling to deal with the various problems foisted upon them by their mutual beast-hood.

All in all, rather than whining and acting aggressively needy and manipulative as Tori has in a few past episodes, she finally opened up and honestly confessed her fears to Vincent, which all hinged on losing him.  Clearly, this terror is the one that has been behind all of her shenanigans this season (agent/manager Tori!  Tori bragging to Cat about dating Vincent!  Tori constantly hounding Vincent to let go of Cat!).  However, it's this same emotion that led her to an act of heroism that put her on the brink of death.  So she came a really long way in "Recipe for Disaster," which was one quality that made this episode so strong.

Her words to Vincent, "I should've known, you belong with Catherine," were actually kind of heartbreaking, as was Vincent's regret of treating Tori so dismissively.  While Tori's death is presumed by the end of the episode, I'm not really buying it for a few reasons.  We don't actually see her die.  Since we don't know what Darnell did to her, something he tinkered with might have given her the ability to survive.  The ambulance driving off seems more indicative of life than death.  The only reason I have to think she could be permanently killed off is that BatB doesn't exactly flinch at killing off or kicking off series regulars - just ask Evan and Joe.

I actually hope Tori is still alive, because this episode effectively cultivated her into a character I can root for.

"I live by my own laws,
I stick to my guns and hold my head up to midnight sun
I hope the guilt will dim and fade,

The fire baptism engulfed in my shame"*

Yet another stunning moment occurred when Cat shot Darnell right as Vincent was beasting out to go after him.  The way the beasty yellow flash in Vincent's eyes vanished the moment Catherine shot the bullet was a fantastic nod to the way she saves him from himself whenever she can.  Again, Catherine soothed the beast in Vincent when he needed it most and restored his humanity.

While VinCat reflected on all of the insane events that had just happened, Catherine noted that she's becoming more and more drawn into the world of beasts due to her familial connections.  As they considered the beast who may have originally been held in the dungeon, Cat pondered, "How do we know Rebecca didn't save him?"  "How do we know she didn't die trying?" Vincent questioned, again emphasizing something he'd made touchingly clear a few moments before: he keeps his loved ones at arm's length because he's afraid they'll be hurt by his enemies.  It's a very Dean Winchester or Superman line of reasoning we've heard from lots of other heroes, but one we can hardly blame Vincent for sticking to, especially considering Tori's seeming-fate.

With his awesomely hot appearance (that popped collar was excellent) and poignant emotional revelations this week, Vincent really hit his full stride as a character after being a little lost previously this season.  While it's understandable that he did become so out of sync after everything he went through between being kidnapped /mind-wiped by Muirfield and jerked around by Agent Reynolds, and all of the new craziness with beast mythology and those trying to use it for evil means, I'm really happy to have Vincent back to feeling like himself again.

"Only ever in dreams I wrap my arms around you.
And standing in the water with me,
I can tell you what I wanna tell you.
And I hope it's not just a bad dream,

Hope it's not just a sad dream"*

As obvious as the love between Cat and Vincent is at this point, I was a little surprised that she decided, at the end of the episode, to move forward with Gabe.  Does she simply assume that she and Vincent can never be together because their problems were too immense?  I suppose that this idea, combined with wanting to give Gabe a chance and see where it may lead, are behind this development.  I have to say though, from the preview for next week, it looks as if Gabe and Catherine being together is only going to bring out a jealous Vincent and probably will just hype up the VinCat intensity more than ever.  2x13, "Till Death," looks crazy and hilarious.  And we also have to remember that once Cat tries dating Gabe, at least she won't be able to say she never gave him a shot, and when it inevitably doesn't work out, she'll have closure there.

One of the themes of this episode was definitely honesty.  We saw Vincent and Tori opening up in various ways earlier, and after the latter's death (?), J.T. felt moved enough by Vincent's pain and remorse to make a confession of his own.  The entire bromantic scene of J.T. urging Vincent to drink with him as they discussed their troubles was adorable and heartwarming, and reaffirmed how terrific this friendship is.  When J.T. revealed that it was he who signed Vincent up for the Muirfield experiments, I was pleasantly surprised to see how Vincent took it admirably in stride.  He acknowledged the enormity of what J.T. had done, but didn't turn on his friend after learning this.

It was wonderful that Tom Everett Scott's mysterious prisoner character was Agent Landon's lost husband, and their reunion was moving and sweet.  I wonder to what extent they will be involved in future episodes, as they are likable characters who make good allies.

What did you think of this week's episode?  Do you think that Tori is really dead?  How long do you think Catherine will seriously date Gabe?  Share your ideas in the comments!

  2. Man, you are nice. This episode was awful. I am a "Beastie" and am sick of the crap the writers are giving us. They have managed to ruin a classic love story. Some things can't be undone, the Tori arc went way too far, and if she is still alive I might just do something drastic:) If this is our last season, heaven forbid, they have ruined it with Vincent and Catherine not being together. The acting was terrible, the story disjointed, it was a train wreck. I hope they can pull themselves out of this. I love this show passionately and would like to see its potential come out. Which is not happening right now.

  3. I don't think she was nice, I think she genuinely liked the episode as did others.

Great review, I applaud you for seeing the deeper meaning in this story and not just concentrating on who is have sex with who. There is so much more to the love story at play here and I really look forward to the rest of the season and watching it play out. Just a note I really hope we hear whether Rebecca saved her Beast! Thanks again

  8. As an international beastie, I can see finally where the writers are going, it has taken me a long time but I trusted the writers and i am starting to see how they are getting to where they want us to go. Which is Vincat and the epic love they share. You have a right to your opinion and that is fine but the negative comment are not helping get a third season. We need to support the writers and directors all the way to the end.

  9. Thank you for this review. I really enjoyed this episode. Do you think Gabe is the leader behind this story and the only way he knows how to get to Vincent in through Catherine. I think Catherine is his only hold over Vincent.

  11. of course it is, i think this was a pivotal episode, at least for Vincent. I did not think it was perfect and it is not my favourite episode (though I loved the JT-Vincent scene) but I enjoyed it

  12. Thanks, Virginia another lovely review you wrote, I'm so happy you're a fan, there were a lot of hit and missies on this one, I found myself actually feeling sorry for Tori in the end, now that's not saying I'm not happy she's gone, now if they could do that with Gabe's character I'd be a happy beAstie, I love this show I just hope it can get back on track before , the writers keep running it off the track, Thanks again for your very kind words for our show!!!

Thanks! The only thing that I felt was really off with this episode was Cat deciding to be with Gabe. I think that was rushed and uncharacteristic. I'm very interested to see what happens with Tori being permanently dead or not. :)

Very interesting theory! I don't know, after last week I thought they were hinting at Gabe being a bad guy again, but this week he didn't do anything too suspicious. We'll soon see, I hope.

Yes, I think that if VinCat learned that Rebecca saved her beast, that would mean a lot to them in terms of how they see their love. And I would looove some flashbacks to Rebecca's adventures too. Thanks for reading and commenting :)

  18. Great review. When J.T. confessed, I was afraid Vincent might "beast out" and was glad that he was willing to accept J.T.'s admission. I'm not real sure what might happen with Landon & her husband. Was he just kept prisoner or was there more that might have happened? Next week's episode does look very interesting and we get to see the Vincent from season 1 who shows his protectiveness of Kat. Sure hope the CW gives this series another season.

  19. Thank you Virginia for a constructive review. 'Its definitely a breath of fresh air'!!!.

Personally I love the direction of S2 and every episode has been a roller coaster ride.
Seeing Vincent in this episode was heartbreaking & heartwarming at the same time. Simply breath taking.
Shame about Tori's death, they really could have done better with her character.
JT & Vincent moment was great as always. We really need more screen time with these two.
With few episodes left before the March hiatus, I really hope all us fans will continue to support the show #BATB.
Ultimately, our main goal is to do all we can to get S3.

  20. Great review, I really enjoyed the episode, the only thing that struck me was Cat decision but I'm excited to see what next.
I also think that Gabe can be bad after all. If you look at the extended promo, you'll see that when he was kissing Cat and Vincent separates them, not out of jealousy (perhaps too) but Vincent has in his hand the serum (empty) that JT made in the dungeon, so maybe Gabe hid and used ?!?!

  21. Good review.I loved this episode too.
We can't expect Vincent and Catherine to get together immediately after Tori's death.( Yes I believe she is dead)
That would be wrong ,So much has happened over the past few episodes
. Vincent for his part, never told Catherine he loved her and wanted to be with her. They are partners in solving the mystery involving her ancestor & the beast leash.and are "friends"
Gabe has been there for Catherine from the first ep of season 2 and offered to wait all the while supporting Catherine and not pushing her to be with him.
Gabe told Catherine that Vincent still had feelings for her and was unresolved.knowing this could lessen his chances.
I hope he doesn't have ulterior motives but that is what makes this series so exciting and addictive..You never know what is going to happen.
I am not a fan of the Gabe /Catherine romance either but am hopeful that this romance will last for a short time .
I am waiting for the return of genuine love between Vincent and Catherine
I trust the writers to tell the story and I will watch every episode of #BATB all the while enjoying the journey.

  22. Thanks for the review!!! I love BATB, and I think this ep was good, but even though I'm not a Tori fan, I really felt bad for her. I'm team V but the way he treated and used her..... In S1 with Alex, he was willing to give up Cat because "he always does the right thing" and now with Tori..... Loved the performances, V and JT just great! The emotions they reflected...WOW. On the other hand, I think Cat seems sooooo needy, she's not herself, at all. Or may be she has amnesia too and doesn't remember everything Gabe did!! Or Stockholm Syndrome?? Hahaha

Thank you for a great review! I think Vincent is going to protect Cat, and found something on Gabe that made him beast out (jealousy too of course) Really loved this episode. :)

  24. Hey Virginia, I too loved this episode. I just love JR and KK and I will always feel their love:-) Amazing chemistry at the party where both had a sweet and lovely connection with Cat giving some love advice and Vincent looking at her her with those beautiful loving eyes. That man is so divine. He reminds me of those Irish rough and sexy guys with the dark hair, maybe a little Colin Farrell. I honestly feel sad though because I do think our show will get cancelled, though I did see that it had the highest ratings for season two with this episode. So maybe I should hold out hope but I also find it sad that those who say they love the show give it such a bad review sometimes before the episode airs and after the episode airs. I believe BATB is getting a lot of hate on the twitter account, though I do not have one, or a Facebook account but i wonder what these people are thinking. I believe there is nothing wrong with criticism or venting after a show but some of the feedback may not always be constructive criticism. I have loved each and every episode and enjoy it so much and love all the actors on board. I like what Brad Kerns did with his version of the story and I admire him for trying to vamp it up. I am sorry that he is getting so much hate and I am annoyed that he is getting blamed for the demise of the show. If people would get out of this epic, classic love crap and open up to a bigger picture maybe they would finally get what he is doing.
All I would say to the man is " your damned if you do and your damned if you dont" I feel all the negative, hate that people have vamped up on social media had done the show a terrible wrong.

  25. Fantastic review of this episode. It was wonderful to see the Vincent we love emerge even more after "Held Hostage last week.Jay Ryan has been 101% formidable as his role as Vincent even in the couple of weaker episodes he has proved what a massive talent he is.Every scene was a joy to watch but will some give Cat's head a wobble,I cannot believe she is still gonna try a relationship with the man who kidnapped her and wanted to kill Vincent and his actions ended up causing Vincent to be kidnapped and the rest is what we are seeing now,Do think the actions of V this upcoming episode id more than him being jealous, carefully look at Vincents other hand when he has G pinned up is that an empty vial in the evidence bag he is holding,.,,something to ponder about,11/10 best scenes this week Vincent admitting the mistake he made in choosing the beast path over humanity and Catherine,Tori's death was so sad I really didnt mind her until last week,I aint bothered that she seemed to be sleeping with V,we all know V didnt love her.Catherine and Vincent are no longer a couple so he did not choose her its just one of those things call it rebound even Tori knew who Vincent should be with in the end such a sad end to a good character,Of course the last scene with JT/V on the houseboat JT's admisson and V taking it like a true man with tears in his eyes he forgave his every loyal and trustworthy friend well done on a beautiful scene Jay and Austin.,Bring on episode 13 and hopefully a step closer to the reunion of our beloved Vincat #BatB

  27. I liked your review and the song you chose is a nice fit. :) Sadly a 'few' are not able to see the big picture that is happening here and unless I am mistaken you appear to get it. :D Can I rant here a tad? ;) My thought is, you can't determine the picture of a puzzle if you only have one piece nor can you determine the picture just because one piece resembles another from a totally different puzzle (comparing S1 with S2). As pieces start falling into place the picture is starting to take form and that is what I am seeing here with season 2 and loving every minute of it. I am constantly being floored by the various discoveries that I and a few others are finding - more so in the last couple episodes - so much so that I am finding myself wanting to re-watch all the previous episodes because I know I had to have missed a lot of things along the way due to my misunderstanding of how the show is going all because I was being ruled by my feelings rather than by the facts as they were being presented. Such is the conundrum that is #BATB. This show makes us feel so much that some are having a hard time understanding the direction the show is going and the sheer genius that Brad Kern and the writers are giving the storyline to date. It's too bad because if the show is approached as a mystery to solve, rather than a love being "destroyed" (or so it's believed) you might just be surprised at what you find lurking in the dark corners. If you're looking for a sweet fairytale this show isn't it - there's a cartoon for that. I for one, love the darker, edgier, more grown up version that says life isn't all sunshine and roses that sometimes the road to True Love is not always smooth and flat but broken with many pitfalls and off roads that may appear to be the right way to take only to discover you took a wrong turn. Just as Vincent discovered that Tori was the wrong road, so Catherine will also discover that Gabe is the wrong road and I think (as do quite a few others) that when that discovery is made we will see a side of Gabe many of us believe has always been there and it is not the 'goody-two shoes" we are seeing now. Next week, I think we are going to start seeing those glimpses of the real Gabe. ;) Ok rant over :D

  28. I agree totally.

  29. I agree with you that the Tori arc went too far (thankfully they deleted certain scenes that were going to uproar the hate of some beasties) thank God is done but as you say some things cant be undone. I do believe that being a Beastie, doesnt mean agreeing with everything the writers are throwing at us but being passionate about BATB. We have the right to speak up too, everything else Im ok with, Im enjoying the episodes 9-12 much ,pre than 1-8. And for the first time in this season Im really looking forward for next week's episode.

  30. Love, love your post and so eloquently put:-) Yes agree that True Love is not always smooth, flat or smooth and has many pit falls. I firmly believe that you have to work at true love to have true love in your life. I like how you say about the show not the sweet fairytale version. This is where I believe many of the fans are failing to connect with the story because they want to have that love story on every episode. I do think this version of Beauty and the Beast would have done better on another cable channel with a more mature audience. To be fair to CW they have given the show a great run and have stood behind it for as long as they can but I am worried about its future as it doesn't look good.

  31. Thanks for another positive review Virginia ~ it was a pivotal episode for Vincent and on that front I really enjoyed it. I used to hate Torible too but understand the reason for her neediness much better this ep. RIP Tori. I hope we get a good explanation on how Cat was all I need me time last week to suddenly wanting to play grabby grabby with Gabe ugh. This episode makes me even more excited for what's to come especially since its probably headed towards a VinCat reconciliation and the fall of Gabe! :o)

  37. Thanks for the review. I don't get some peoples frustration with the non-VinCat arcs. We saw last season that once they're together there's not much else to do. I've seen all the episodes and want to see more, I'm enjoying the roller coaster knowing the train will return to the station safely. Just like Lois and Clark, it will be Vincent and Catherine eventually (As long as there's no fake pregnancy bologna). So what's suppose to happen after VinCat are together, dosen't the story end?

  38. Good to see many people are enjoying the season. Different point of view or maybe different expectations. What really appealed to me , as a woman, was that Catherine (as much as Tess ) was a believable smart Beauty who made strong choices, and kind of rebelled against conventional human relationship stereotypes .She was pro-active. She knew who she wanted and how to get it. Embracing and accepting Vincent "diversity" was her biggest strength and the peculiarity of her character . This season she's has been slowly downgraded to an almost ordinary woman with low personal dignity or self-respect. Being able to kick some butts doesn't imply she's strong. She seems unable to stand up for herself and is passively complacent to what other’s say and want . We don't know what SHE really want .Very little was said about her feelings. I'm sorry but right now BATB women (Cat - Tess - Tori ) are cheap icons of the typical anti-feminist stereotypes who measure their worth only if they have a man in their life . As individuals they are unexplored. I know we live in a sexist society and there are tons of stupid messages everywhere but sometimes we should highlight them instead of accepting them as "entertaining". And as far as I can see this season is full of sexism and even more disturbing messages : the repeated disparaging harmful use of the word Beast by any human , including Catherine , is cringeworthy and pretty racist because implies a very BAD message : Humans felt superior to Beasts . Humans consider their life more valuable than Beasts life , therefore Beasts deserve to die . That's what I have learned so far this season . That's why I don't like the journey. In all this crap there is still one really good thing to appreciate about BATB: Jay Ryan dimples.

  44. Great review. For me, the highlight of this episode was Vincent, his love for Cat so intensely visible - it was lovely. But I can not understand Cat, a woman who always seemed so sensible to insist on a relationship with Gabe, after what he did to her and Vincent in the past. Sometimes I think that her love by Vincent just definitely lose.
I think the characters Tess and JT deserved to be further explored. Are focusing a lot on Gabe and forgetting the other.
Interesting your theory find that Tori may be alive!
Comments part: Jay Ryan is an amazing actor. I hope he has many more chances to show their work.

  45. Thank you :D I'm not sure how it does on Showcase, being Canadian I have little impact on USRatings although II've seen close ups of that baggie and it looks like an empty vial - much like the one that had the serum that JT made - funny how no one asked what happened to that stuff at the end of Recipe for Disaster. In one of the shots on the promo it looks like Vincent breaks into Gabe's apartment via the balcony, that must be when he finds the empty vial. I can only theorize what lead Vincent to break into Gabe's apartment in the first place but the result seems to be Vincent throwing Gabe up against the wall with his hand around his throat. Til Death should prove to be an interesting episode.

  48. I don't think the scene where Vincent interrupts a passionate moment between Cat & Gabe is a set up by VinCat - Gabe has completely convinced Cat that he's "born again" so she won't be easily convinced that he's "BIG BAD". Definitely don't see Gabe vanquished by the end of ep 13; however I think there's a mutual recognition (at least to themselves) that Vincent & Cat still have feelings for the other which makes Vincent jealous and Cat question her relationship with Gabe. For VinCat shippers don't get too excited that they are just going to fall into each other's arms in ep 14, even the spoiler for that ep says that VinCat work together to find friends of Gabe so he's still going to be panting after Cat for some time to come; he's been obsessed with her for the entire season, so he won't simply throw in the towel now that they're sleeping together. Gabe will be very determined to keep Cat now that she's in his bed - he's waited too long for her to just walk away without a fight as demonstrated that he already wanted to take her away to Mexico for Valentine's day. So I think this is just the beginning of Vincent fighting to win Cat back - you know he can pull out all the stops (flash mob last Valentines - sigh) which we know will mean more than some trip to a resort. Gabe will try to romance her with spending lots of money but we know that's not what Cat values - the sweet romantic gestures matter to her. Vincent definitely has to demonstrated that he's choosing Man vs Beast so I think if he somehow is able to return to being a doctor, this will be a good thing. I also hope that they bring in his family as they've not been mentioned and now he's publically "alive" this has been a gap in his story - his nephew, and his parents - they've not really said if they're alive and how better for Vincent to reconnect with his human side than to be reunited with his family. In the extra previews, there's a number of suck face moments between Gabe & Cat so I do have my air sickness bag ready, but in the end I believe that pull between VinCat will start to be felt. She's rushed into this relationship with Gabe, she never gave herself time to get past/deal with her unresolved feelings for Vincent so her fling with Gabe is not going to last but it won't be over in an episode IMO - besides the Producers clearly like the character of Gabe - he has dominated the show this season - it feels like there's more scenes with him than the marquee characters and he has definitely taken away key screen time from JT & Tess. He has had many of the final moments of the show with Cat - when last year it was usually with Vincent. Speaking of Tess - who is she this season? Writers please bring back the snarky, sarcastic Tess who wouldn't be egging Cat to hop into the sack with Gabe so quickly after Cat's break up with Vincent. So here's hoping that Vincent starts to fight for Cat, that she doesn't just fall back into his arms - but starts to see she's not over him and begins to draw back from Gabe, that Vincent moves back in with JT, we see less of Gabe and more JT & Tess (old Tess).

  49. Yes, totally agree. I do think something will happen between VinCat on 14 but as you said not falling back into his arms but they will have a mutual feeling of their love connection. Tess is too long without a guy so I am sure she is thinking Cat also need a new some loving. If you remember she was the first to realize that Gabe was into Cat and Tess has come to trust and know Gabe and happy for him to be with her BFF. Looks like Tess and JT may be an item:-)
