Banshee - Episode 2.08 - Evil for Evil - Preview & Teasers
23 Feb 2014
Banshee Reviews SSRepercussions and consequences are the main theme that the show deals with this week, a few are welcome, one is risky and is only gonna piss off those who are supposed to be trusted partners, but mostly they are bad, and for one deputy in particular they are tragic. This episode feels very much like a continuation of Ways to Bury a Man as it elaborates further on many of elements that arose in it, and deals with their fallout.
One thing’s for certain, Proctor isn't finding Hood quite so easy to intimidate as he does everyone else in town, this faceoff isn't going to go the way the one with Alex did earlier in the season; a blood filled hot tub would only tip him over the edge rather than terrify him into submission for a start. Lucas, however, is still trying to evolve into the better version of himself Siobhan hinted at in episode 2.06 by using legal means to bring Kai down, but when securing a warrant lawfully proves impossible he ends up reverting back to what he knows best in order to get what he needs to bust him.
Another thing that is throwing the businessman a curve ball is that the people that should be scared of him, and have been safely on his side of the battlefield for years before the sheriff showed up in town, are now starting to show their allegiance for the other team. Only one is actually brave enough to stand up to him face to face so far, but another one stays silent when they should shout out, and yet another has valuable information for Hood. Will he ever find out who are the ones that are defying him behind his back, and what will happen to them if Burton ever get his hands on them?
Max's illness seems to have shocked Gordon into realising what a dick he’s been the last few weeks. His self-pitying spiral of destruction is hopefully a thing of the past as he and Carrie make further inroads in patching up their relationship after she turns up at the house with the cash for the treatment their son needs and ends up staying for dinner. How she got that money is a bit of a sore point, though strangely enough not with Gordon, the one person you’d think would have a problem with stolen money.
So we come to the biggest ramification of last week’s actions. The junkyard beat down the deputies gave Sharp and his cronies comes back to bite the least deserving member of the Sherriff's department in typical Banshee fucked up style. I'm not going to say too much about this as I think it really is best seen played out unspoiled on screen. It’s pretty brutal in places and extremely harrowing for the characters involved, we see a very different side to Emmett Yawners and Demetrius Grosse turns in an exceptional performance as a desperate man seeking the ultimate revenge.
Evil for Evil airs Friday February 28th at 10pm on Cinemax, below are some teasers to see you through until then. Don’t forget to come back and vote in our poll after the episode and let us know what you thought.
“I am curious as to why Proctor would have so much information on the Kinaho casino, I mean, that, is a lot of information to have about someone else’s business don’t ya think?”
“I know you’re mad, and I'm sorry I haven’t been around enough”
“If we know who he C.I is maybe we can discount the warrant”
“When Meg first told me she was pregnant, my first thought was how can we raise a kid here? I mean this town, everything that’s good just gets swallowed up out of it”
“It’s not enough for a warrant, and without a warrant you can’t go in there”
“When did you become a traitor to your race?”
“Ana, what the fuck?! Go, get out of here!”
“I spoke to the electric company, someone hacked their server and shut down that particular grid”
“Being your friend, it should come with hazard pay”
“I'm guessing this wasn't on the original floor plan, right?”

ReplyDeleteIt's really starting to ramp up to the finale now!
ReplyDeleteDammit!! Pretty sure they are going to kill off Emmett's pregnant wife or at the very least assault her leading to miscarriage. That is brutal, but for a show like Banshee, just another 10pm on a Friday. ;)
ReplyDeleteI am hoping someone betrays Proctor and he finds out who it is - if only to see Burton (glasses removed) go after them to deliver punishment.
i have a feeling that Proctor will be killed off. Or Rebecca might betray him because she still fancies Hood.
ReplyDeletecannot wait for this episode!
ReplyDeleteI wonder what kind of easter egg in this episode to foreshadow to future of Rebecca/Kai realtionship we will get.
