Don't forget that Laurel also had a part in it. After all, she made sure that Sara wouldn't start dating Oliver. Then, when Sara got grounded, Laurel actually dated Oliver and they got a relationship.
They definitely threw that line in given the negative reaction to Laurel, why not make her even more unlikable? At this point, I don't think she will ever be black canary which is a shame since she kicked butt in one of the early season 1 episodes.
I really don't understand why they would reveal that Sara had a crush on Ollie first and Laurel went after him out of spite. They didn't need to redeem Sara for the cheating, what she's been through would've been enough punishment for much worse things, and nobody gives a crap anyway. So really, they just made Laurel look worse when a huge chunk of the audience detests her already. It seems like a befuddling move, unless they're planning to write her off so they actually want to feed the hate, which is kind of douchey. And I say that as someone who himself deeply dislikes the character.
We can't know until we see the episode, but I get the feeling that this flashback is actually from right before Oliver and Sara went on the Gabmit and that's what they were texting about. The calm before the storm, if you will.
You know everyone keeps saying that. But idt that's what it was at all. Idt they were trying to redeem Sara or throw more negative at Laurel, I simply think they just did that to give us a taste of how the sisters relationship really is. That it's not all hearts and rainbows, and Laurel too can be sneaky,

coming this fall to theCW, 'The Lances'
ReplyDeleteThat was a cute flashback but the flip side is that it really emphasizes how broken and miserable they all are now.

ReplyDeleteThank god, because Katie Cassidy sucks as an actor.
ReplyDeleteThe character needs to be killed off.
