Slade and Oliver sharing a dramatic scene, now...everything that gives one of this shows best actors meaty material is good but this was great. Manu Bennet totally delivered
Biggest shock was Oliver revealing his identity to Roy for me, but the earthquake device prototype was silly. Therefore I am going with the scene with the best potential - Sara comes back.
Definitely Oliver revealing himself to Roy, as he later said to Diggle and Felicity, the Arrow couldn't get through to Roy, but Oliver could. Perfect.
I also loved when Thea called Oliver asking if he was near Verdant and he just leant back in the chair. Gold! Stephen mentioned on twitter that that was his improv and it was perfect for the situation.
I liked the reveal. But was still underwhelmed by Haynes's performance. For me he is too good at acting an ass hole but less in vulnerability department. I am not sold on Roy's pain. Hope to change the opinion coming weeks.
Acting wise Oliver and Slade scene at the island was far far above every other scene but nothing much happened to forward the story.
So I voted for Sara coming back. This will at least push forward Laurel's addiction story line. Because I still can't stand Laurel on my screen. Sara will make it easier.
Hell yeah i voted Ollie reveals himself!!! That was sooo unexpected!! I liked when Roy goes "you're...." And Oliver says, "Yeahh, yeah." LOL That was awesome, he's all yup it's me. Then when he showed Roy "Team Arrow" that was even more epic!! Sara coming back would've been my second choice.
I can't believe this BS about Moira running for mayor... the woman was part of a plan that killed hundreds of people, she's not innocent AT ALL, she was released of jail when she should have stayed locked up and just went back to her life of luxury and people on the city were making riots against her and her family. If she gets elected everyone living on this city will need to be locked because it's proof they have gone crazy. Sorry about the rant, but this really pissed me off...
I agree 100%. I'm not sure there has been a more ludicrous subplot in any show I have ever watched. It didn't make sense that no one tried to kill her while she left the trial or that Blood would be okay having her at his campaign fundraiser. It really didn't make sense when she was walking around the Glades in the mad bomber episode, and no one even looked at her cross-eyed. She should be fleeing Starling City for her life but now she's running for Mayor? Are you kidding me?
As long as Sara coming back doesn't turn into a soap oper between the sisters, I think it will be a great thing. Present day Sara is turning into my favorite character.
I agree Moira has every right to run for Mayor but she won't win neither will blood it will be some unknown third party .....I think the writers was inspired by a real life event that happen in 2013 NYC mayor election if you know what I mean......
What makes this even worse is that Moira is a filthy rich 1%'er, and the Undertaking targeted the Glades - the poor part of town. Lower-to-middle class people resent rich people who live in extreme luxury as it is; now they find out Moira was complicit in a plot to slaughter ALL the underprivileged of Starling, and hundreds did in fact die. If she's not the most hated woman in the city right now, I'm Oprah. Heck, the deal Donner offered her (life in prison) was probably for the best - no one would be able to kill her in prison.
I wonder if we'll next have Osama Bin Laden resurrected via the Lazarus Pit and then running for U.S. Presidency?
The reveal, not even from a plot standpoint but because it was a lovely emotional moment. The way Roy was able to calm down in an instant once it was Oliver reaching out to him, not Arrow, and then Roy's admission of how Oliver inspired him were just heartwarming. I look forward to seeing the bond between them develop.
Ollie inducting Roy into the team was nice as well, too bad it's not on the poll.
I'm beyond excited about Sara returning, but c'mon, that end scene was just a frustrating tease.
She's not going to win, and she's guilty but not as guilty as you make her. She didn't want to participate in the Undertaking but she was forced to. She lost her husband when she encouraged him to travel to China to try to stop Malcolm's plan and when Malcolm sabotaged their yacht. Moira carries some of the guilt but she was still too a victim.
You're right, but we're discussing this in the context of how the public views Moira's actions. From where they're standing, this woman is a billionaire living in extreme luxury who kept silent about a plot to commit mass murder for years. Yes, she and her family were threatened, but people aren't going to be forgiving about the fact that she nearly allowed thousands of deaths to occur just to save herself and her loved ones. Hundreds of deaths did in fact occur because she only came clean at the last minute. And on top of that, the people who were killed (and everyone else who could've been) were from the poor, underprivileged part of the town. As I noted in another comment, poor people resent the rich who reside in lavish mansions and have pretty much everything money can buy as is. Now you have such a rich person complicit in a plot to MURDER them all? And she gets off the hook in court and goes back to living it up? Like Dahne mentioned, it's a wonder she can leave the house, let alone go the the Glades like she did in 2x10, without people trying to harm her. The idea that they would vote for her as Mayor is absolutely insane - as far as they're concerned, she sold all of them out for her own family.
We also have to remember that the trial was very recent, so it's not like we can use the "public has a short memory" excuse. And this would be a different matter if Malcolm had been brought to justice, too, because then the person who planned the Undertaking could be punished for it. Moira wouldn't look so horrible by comparison. But with Malcolm supposedly dead, she became the scapegoat for all the blame; there's a reason Donner was able to seek the death penalty.
I understand why Moira acted the way she did, we all do, but the idea that the people of Starling City are willing to forgive her is really far-fetched. And the idea that they vote for her as their Mayor is to leave the territory of far-fetchedness and go deep into utter ridiculousness. They could've made it a little less grating in a few ways: having Walter be the one to run for Mayor as a front for Moira, delaying this storyline until next season, or having Malcolm be caught so he'll take most of the heat and the public hate of Moira will diminish. This way it's just... no words.
Possibly..but what it does for the story moving forward is what i like the most, Blood vs Queen imagine how that will affect Oliver and Thea imparticular it could be some juicy stuff
I won't be surprised if there will be some shots fired when she announces she is running for mayor, and I don't see this storyline continuing for much longer. Personally, I won't be shocked to find Walter's friend being one of Slade's pawns.
The only reason this story is happening is to create that dilemma of Oliver choosing to support either Blood or his mother. I too, even before State v Queen, wondered what kind of life she'd have on the outside if she was acquited. When you consider the mob that Oliver met outside Glades Memorial back in 'Identity', how Moira hasn't recieved bombs through her letterbox or something is way beyond me.
Yeah I noticed the cursing it was a lot actually and I don't like it but he was funny. It was the first time I watched one of his videos I will check his YouTube channel later. He said he's going to do a video with Robbie soon, this should be fun ;)
I've seen it pointed out somewhere that the real problem is just Arrow not being honest about what it is. Before the show premiered, the producers gave 100000000 different interviews about how the show is "dark, gritty and realistic", takes place in the real world with no superpowers or fantasy, yadda yadda. And then they turn around and write a show where NO ONE recognizes Arrow as Oliver when he's standing right next to (or in front of) them, and Moira can run for Mayor when a couple of months ago she was facing the death penalty for being complicit in hundreds of deaths. They need to make up their mind: either seriously tighten the plot and make it halfway realistic, or own up to the fact that it's a comic book show and embrace the ridiculousness. You can't have it both ways.
Another good point. In the first season it felt like they had a grasp on what the story and characters were by the midseason, even if the storytelling was sometimes all over the place. This season it feels like they have taken fan input and are no longer as clear on Arrow's identity as a show. Perhaps it is just growing pains, but it would be nice if they woudl choose an identity and go with it. Every show needs absolute rock hard canon on which to make the foundation. I'm not sure Arrow has chosen its foundation yet.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Oliver introducing Roy to Diggle and Felicity was pretty great also!

ReplyDeletehe had to reveal who he is to Roy or Roy won't control his anger
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of the reveal. I hope he is forced to reveal his identity to Thea next.
ReplyDeleteThe reveal!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Oliver revealing himself to Roy, as he later said to Diggle and Felicity, the Arrow couldn't get through to Roy, but Oliver could. Perfect.

ReplyDeleteThe reveal. It was predictable even from the moment the press release came out, but it was fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThe reveal...what else. I love how they handled that.

ReplyDeleteOliver introducing Roy to Diggle and Felicity
ReplyDeleteAs did Steve Amell in that scene
ReplyDeleteYou want to see a more ludicrous plot watch Supernatural
ReplyDeleteI can, Moira didn't kill anybody never intended to tried to warn people and the only reason people died is because Malcolm accelerated his plan.
ReplyDeleteI have. I watched 8 years of Supernatural and while it is ludicrous too at times, Moira running for Mayor is the top of the list.
ReplyDeletehe really stepped up his game this episode. True

ReplyDeleteThe way Oliver said "Yeah" was soooo cute.
ReplyDeleteHaha it was hilarious, He was all yeah it's me, i'm the one. So free about it. LOL I loved that.
ReplyDeleteDid you see the Q&A videos he posted on his facebook page?

ReplyDeleteNo i didn't.
ReplyDeleteYou should, he is very cute and down to earth and loves his family and really really enjoys his work.
ReplyDeleteI usually look at his Q&A's on his Youtube channel. He's adorable. = ) And he even curses, i love it. lol

ReplyDeleteI'm back!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back =)
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you. Check out the Producer's Preview for Arrow!!!
ReplyDeleteOk wait.
ReplyDeleteKudos. This is exactly the problem. Thanks for articulating it so well.
ReplyDeleteI like how Roy punches a hole in the container so they can destroy the device
ReplyDeleteThank you for the compliment :)
