From this list on of the Jessica's would be a good casting choice. But you are bit out of date, Iris dad was cast and he is a a-a actor can't recall his name right now. I mean you announced it aswell, andyou announced that the casting came down to 2 afro american actress(spoilers according)
Casting calls aren't common knowledge to most people, so it's possible that she just didn't know. However, If she actually knew about the casting call but still chose not to include any women of color in the polls, then I'd agree with your your post 100%
Is the character black in the comics? If so, I agree it's only to be expected that the "pool" of casting choices would at least mostly include black actresses.
IDK, I can't imagine being interested in the Flash show and not knowing about this. When I'm interested in a show or a pilot, I check everything I can find about it, and the news were even posted here at Jan 5.
Anyways, my personal two favorite candidates for this role are Jessica Parker Kennedy (loved her on TSC and yeah, I know she's in Black Sails now but I assume Starz will order a short S2 for that show) or Madeleine Mantock, assuming TTP doesn't make it to S2. Berlanti should be familiar with her work already ;)
Madeline Mantock would be terrific. They don't use her half as much as they should in The Tomorrow People. My other choice would be Kylie Bunbury. She's currently in Twisted, but it's hard to predict how long that show will last.
I see. Well, while I don't have a problem with shows straying from the source material in terms of characters' physical appearance, I also think that if she's not black in the comics it makes sense not to have black actresses on the poll. Even if it was submitted after the casting call came out, this is just a theoretical poll about fans' opinions, after all - it doesn't have to follow what the show is actually doing. For example, even after the character is cast, someone can submit a "Who do you think should have been cast as Iris West?" poll.
That is all good if we can have multiple polls about the casting for this charatcer, but if we can only have one poll on this casting, why waste it on an imaginary scenario instead of a more possible one?
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Isnt Anna Kendick a big movie star? why would she want to star in a CW show?
ReplyDeleteThe choices are awful...

ReplyDeleteOf course she is, no one is saying that she would ever take the part of the role.
ReplyDeleteThis is meant to be fun speculation.
Why do you always take things so seriously? Jeez
And...?

ReplyDeleteJessica Stroup and Jessy Schram, and Anna Kendrick as a close third
ReplyDeleteKylie Bunbury
ReplyDeleteThey released a casting call for a black actress for the role of Iris West and none of the actresses I know from this list are black.
