Under the Dome - Season 2 - Spoilers and Premiere Date + Extant Premiere Date *Updated*

Update: 16th Jan Thanks to Christian for the following.

Mackenzie Lintz' mom has confirmed that Mackenzie (Norrie on 'Under the Dome') has been made a series regular in S02, and is not a recurring guest character any more.

Here is some info on the trailer that was shown at the TCA Presentation. As soon as CBS release it we'll be sure to post.

"The second season is going to take us places the book never go to go, he's bringing his own twists and turns," says Vaughn. "Stephen King gave us ideas we've never imagined. What's outside [the dome] comes inside."

The second season is going to explore the major question that was introduced in the Season 1 finale: The dome is there to protect them, but protect them from what?

In doing so, the show will introduce a new character in the form of Junior's uncle, who has been hiding out for reasons that will be revealed eventually and who will "cause problems for Barbie." Isn't that the Rennie family motto?

Another new character will be a young schoolteacher who is "quite forceful" and who will cause some major heat for Big Jim Rennie (Dean Norris).

Speaking of heat for Big Jim, there was footage of him kissing Linda Esquivel (Natalie Martinez) in the teaser trailer, which ... ew. Maybe that's just a dream he's having? Please?

Here is the full press release.

CBS ANNOUNCES PREMIERE DATES FOR SUMMER SERIES "UNDER THE DOME" AND "EXTANT"
"Under the Dome" Returns Monday, June 30, 10:00 PM With the Premiere Episode Written by Stephen King

"Extant," Starring Academy Award Winner Halle Berry, Premieres Wednesday,

July 2, 9:00 PM

CBS today announced premiere dates for its two scripted summer event series—UNDER THE DOME and EXTANT, both produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television.

UNDER THE DOME returns for its sophomore season on Monday, June 30 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT). The premiere episode will be written by Stephen King, whose bestselling novel the series is based on. UNDER THE DOME was last summer's #1 program, averaging 15.06 million viewers and 3.9/11 in adults 18-49, ranking as the most-watched scripted summer series in 21 years.

UNDER THE DOME tells the story of a small town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome. The town's inhabitants must deal with surviving the post-apocalyptic conditions while searching for answers to what this barrier is, where it came from, and if and when it will go away.

EXTANT, starring Academy Award winner Halle Berry, premieres Wednesday, July 2 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT).

EXTANT is a mystery thriller about a female astronaut trying to reconnect with her family when she returns after a year in outer space. Her experiences lead to events that ultimately will change the course of human history.

UNDER THE DOME is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Amblin Television. Steven Spielberg, Stephen King, Neal Baer, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Stacey Snider, Jack Bender and Brian K. Vaughan are executive producers.

EXTANT is a co-production of CBS Television Studios and Amblin Television. Steven Spielberg, Greg Walker, Mickey Fisher, who wrote the script, Brooklyn Weaver, Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank will serve as executive producers. Halle Berry will serve as co-executive producer. The series will be distributed domestically by CBS Television Distribution and worldwide by CBS Studios International.

  2. sounds good already i wonder who them two charecters are going to be i think big jim is one but would they really get rid of dean norris?

  3. Yay super excited about Under the Dome! I am sure a lot of people will bash the show again and while not perfect, I find it very entertaining and original.

I will also give Extant a try. Major way for the increase of regular programming in the summer. I also like the 9pm scheduling, that's exactly where I would put it. The question now is where will they schedule Battle Creek and Reckless (and maybe Bad Teacher)

  4. I wonder if we will be able to see the trailer for UTD Season 2 they showed at TCA today anytime soon.

  5. There was a trailer? Oh my, what I wouldn't pay to see that...

  6. It worries me that I don't care too much about the two people who die.

  8. I will give Extant a shot, since I have nothing to watch in the summer (apart from watching all 9 seasons of HIMYM).

  9. Oh, I am so hoping we get a hold on that trailer..!

  10. I think Battle Creek is for fall. Still wondering about Reckless and Bad Teacher.

  11. I think it might only be a teaser trailer. Not sure if they already started shooting.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Oh, that's a good point. But my curiosity still wants a bite of that teaser :P

  13. Well,i hope one of them is Norrie, didn't like her character or her acting in it..

  14. Hey, found this: http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/01/under-the-dome-season-2-premiere-and-trailer-big-jim-kissing-linda-what.html

They say they will post the teaser trailer as soon as they get it, and they reveal at least one scene in it. Maybe they have started shooting? Don't know, but I do know I am waiting anxiously for that trailer :P

  15. Big Jim and ---? Ugh, wtf is going on?

    ReplyDelete
  16. I really liked her, I hope it's not her!

  17. Big Jim and Linda kissing? Wtf is going on?

  18. I think CBS should give Bad Teacher the post TBBT-R timeslot. Those repeats rate higher than most originals anyway and there is no competition at all in that slot for summer. CBS should promote it seriously and not as burnoff, they could get a great summer performer.

  19. This is what Tassler said about the scheduling for Reckless and Bad Teacher at TCA: "There are two CBS midseason shows that have yet to get premiere dates,
so they’re not here. Tassler says they’ll have 13 episodes in the can
before they need to schedule them.
    "

  20. I hope Linda dies in the premiere. No offense to the actress, but I don't like her character. Made way too many big mistakes that a policewoman shouldn't make, even if they're in a Dome.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hense why Big Jim appointed her as sheriff. He knew she was naive, and malleable. .

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yeah, if anyone has to die, it better be her. I can't decide on which other character I want dead.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It's seems strange because Bad Teacher was ordered so late after pilot season and all that you would think they had actual plans for it, not just a random pickup. By the way, how do you watch the TCAs?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I don't watch it. I visits blogs/site that post live updates from TCA.

    ReplyDelete
  25. They also say that another new character is a school teacher who causes problems for Big Jim....so thinking he must not die.

    ReplyDelete
  26. As soon as CBS release it to us we'll be sure to post.

    ReplyDelete
  27. So that explains Linda's stupid actions. She's a bit in love with Big Jim Hitl..I mean Rennie.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Do you think we'll ever see the trailer? I mean, this is taking an extraordinarily long time for them to release, if it's going to be released... right? Or am I just being impatient (and that's a fully viable answer :P)?

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm really excited for both shows!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Good!!, let's just hope, they repair all of the mistakes they made in the 2 last episodes of Under The Dome.

    ReplyDelete
  31. OMG!! It's so much more time

    ReplyDelete
  32. I still don;t understand why Mackenzie Lintz was recurring in Season 1 when she was in every episode (I think). But glad that she has been made regular, maybe this means that she won't die in the premiere.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I have also been really curious about that, but my guess is they planned on killing her character off in season 1, but saw the popularity for her character spike and realized they may need her. But that's just speculation. Either way, I doubt they would up her to series regular just to kill her off in the season premiere, so yay! :P

    ReplyDelete
  34. Finally! I suspected she would be, but it's great to finally know for sure. After all, she was in all 13 episodes of season 1, as opposed to her mother Carolyn (the living one), Phil and Dodee. I guess this also means she won't be one of the two deaths in the premiere as it would be redundant to make her a regular if she is going to die. Hopeful that Big Jim and Linda are the ones dying.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Because Big Jim is supposed to be facing "heat" from a young school-teacher, I highly doubt he will be killed off. Besides, the Dean Norris name is great publicity. I can imagine Linda and maybe DJ Phil, both of whom have wrongly trusted Big Jim. Maybe they find out the truth through the bright light we saw in the season finale, and he has to kill them off because they will tell the town? Uuuuuh, I love speculating!

    ReplyDelete
  36. It's normally just to do with actors contracts and wages. A Series Regular will be paid more.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I don't like her acting either but unfortunately I think her character is too much important for the story.

    ReplyDelete
  38. LOL! That's a good answer! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Really? Have you try Graceland? It was my favorite TV show last summer.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm excited by both shows! Just hope that sheriff Linda has learn something since last year and that she is now less naive and malleable... well a girl can dream. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  41. I had forgotten she was one of the chosen..

    ReplyDelete
  42. You're right, I re watched the last 3 episodes, and it was unbelievable!!, especially the last when Barbie escapes and Junior informs her that Julia Helped him to do it, and nevertheless Linda keeps thinking that it was him who shot her!!, THAT WAS SO STUPID!!, terrible writing!!.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I disagree. The writing was OK, but the use of her character was wrong. Obviously we have learned that when put in a sudden unpredictable event, Linda is as stupid as a cop can get, but I think that's the intended purpose for her character. We are supposed to hate her and Big Jim. They are like a team. I would disagree with the writers on it, as I don't think they made the right decision with Linda by doing that, but I think it was all according to plan. We'll find that out in S2, I suppose.

    ReplyDelete
  44. so basically you're saying that Linda acted like any other person would act, because she was overwhelmed and she couldn't use the logic??, hmmm perhaps, but I still think that the writers lost the lead with her character somehow, I mean, yes, the story makes sense, no matter how helpful he was, Barbie was the stranger there and if the leader of the town is making such a brainwash to the people, it's easy to blame him for everything, and I accept that he was arrested, but not that Linda had agreed to hang him without even prove he was actually guilty, that's what I felt out of place, but well, I'm making a big deal out of this, you're right, we'll see how they solve it all in season 2. :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm saying everyone under the Dome reacts in a different way. She was an officer who got promoted way too quickly. She's not experienced or skilled enough, and I think it's become so overwhelming with all of the deaths and the Dome and all the tasks her job requires her to do. Then there's the fucking bomb on the town (come on seriously, I bet everyone here at SpoilerTV would be a little psyched out when there's a bomb going to fuck us all to hell :P), and she needs some sense of comfort, which lies with Big Jim. Barbie is the stranger, he's had fights with Junior, he killed Julia's husband and is now in a relationship with her, and Big Jim is still standing as the good-guy "Man of the Town". Granted, everyone in that town should start drawing some of the clues together to figure it out, but I guess that is exactly what we are going to see happen in S2. I don't blame Linda for her mistakes as much as other people do, because it's incredibly easy to feel alone and wanting comfort from Big Jim when she has nothing else to go on, but when she heard that Big Jim was involved in the drug business she should've started wondering. She should have asked why the kids were locked. IN FACT, that entire scene was the most ridiculous to me. WHY DIDN'T JOE AND NORRIE TELL HER? WHY DIDN'T SHE ASK THEM? WHY DIDN'T BARBIE IMMEDIATELY SAY EVERYTHING? The total silence was bullshit. THAT was terrible writing, hahaha.

But oops, I got off-topic. Yes, she was overwhelmed, can't think clearly, but some of the mistakes (like in the scene where Big Jim shoots Maxine and Barbie is framed), there she could have just checked the guns. The guns would prove everything in that scene.
