So this is a totally just-for-fun list, originally featured on my blog, of my favorite tv romances (or could-be, would-be romances) from 2013. These are the relationships that were the most exciting, suspenseful, chemistry-fueled beautiful disasters to hit our small screens in the past year.
25. Daniel/Kate, Perception
I know the show threw a bit of a seeming wrench into this pairing with the introduction of Scott Wolf as Kate's charming ex-husband, wherein it's totally believable and even kind of nice to see Kate and Donnie reunite at the end of Season 2.
However, Daniel/Kate is not only endgame, clearly, but it's also the heart and soul of the show. We did get some very good angsty drama between these two when Daniel was prompted by some insane urge to ask Kate if she has feelings for him in the most awkward, insulting way possible. Urrghhh! The chemistry surged even as Kate's anger flared and Daniel's inability to acknowledge his own emotions grew. I can't wait to see what will happen between these two when Season 3 starts up.
24. Joan/Arthur, Covert Affairs
Arthur and Joan Campbell. What a magnificently classy pair they are. Season 4 put them through the ringer with a supposed cheating scandal, the reveal of Arthur's son Teo, Arthur being jailed, Joan's surprise pregnancy, and Arthur finding out that Joan made some hasty decisions about the CIA's treatment of poor Teo. The best part is that all of this madness just brought them closer together. I loved how hard they fought for their relationship, to exonerate Arthur, to protect Joan, and to be together with their baby.
23. Stefan/Katherine, The Vampire Diaries
Oh, this is everything. I love it. And it's not only because it finally lets me stop hating Stefan, that it delays any "Stelena" redux, or that it also delays/prevents "Steroline," but those factors certainly don't hurt, either!
The way that TVD has humanized and developed Katherine this season into a more complex, rich, and sympathetic character is wonderful. It's probably the biggest accomplishment the show can claim in an otherwise somewhat uneven fifth season. He may not fully realize the depth of their connection in this newest incarnation of it, but the truth is that the begrudging extent to which Katherine has allowed herself to soften has reopened his heart to her. The relationship between these two is far deeper and more interesting than anything "Stelena" or "Steroline" have to offer as far as I'm concerned.
22. Carter/Reese, Person of Interest
OH MY GOD WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO MY SHIP?! Okay, well, way to go out on a high, huh, Carter/Reese shippers? Before being forever separated by those H.R. bastards (like I didn't already hate Chuck Bass' dad enough?!), Reese and Carter shared quite a few emotional revelations, confidences, and one very excellent kiss.
21. "Zade"
Wade/Zoe, Hart of Dixie
Sure, Zoe's in a healthy and pleasant relationship with total sweetie Joel, and Wade's starting to have eyes for Zoe's cousin, but come on. It can't be much longer before Bluebell's former city slicker doc and hottie bartender reunite! And I love the fact that Wade won't let Zoe forget it, either.
20. Danny/Mindy, The Mindy Project
What Mindy Kaling has done in creating a rom-sitcom is brilliant. The slow-burning, bittersweet, comical shenanigans between Mindy and Danny form one of the more poignantly relatable would-be romances currently on tv. The subtlety and unspoken nature of their feelings are downright old-school and classy.
19. Mary/Bash, Reign
I know Francis is all noble and that he and Mary are in lurve, but...Bash...right? Also, are we calling this "Mash" yet?
18. Charlie/Quinn, Scandal
When people start buzzing online about Quinn/Huck, I be like, playa, please. I'm talking about Charlie, okay! Not only because it's nauseating to think of Quinn getting together with Huck after he tortured her so horribly, but also because they have no chemistry.
Charlie/Quinn, on the other hand, have chemistry to spare. Their twisted, absurd relationship rocks, and the dialogue it spawns ("are you gonna cry? Dammit!" "You are seriously the best girlfriend I've ever had") is strictly FTW. Charlie is the cutest amoral assassin ever, and Quinn is the most fabulous confused, frightened newbie assassin ever, so they make the perfect couple.
Honorable Mention: Abby and David. Their ongoing banter about what a "normal" couple would do is hilarious.
17. "VinCat"
Vincent and Catherine, Beauty and the Beast
This ratings-deprived show is one of my favorite comfort food CW new classics. And that's hugely driven by the impossibly complicated, yet irresistible love between Catherine and Vincent. So far in Season 2, Vincent lost his memory and went around killing fellow beasts, which was kind of a problem. His memory began to seep back bit by bit, but just as he and Cat seemed to be reconnected, he went and let that skanky Tori kiss him at Cat's evil bio-dad's Thanksgiving dinner (though really only because the trampy fellow beast has some kind of pheromone pull on him or whatever). Like that day seriously wasn't awkward enough for Cat!
Just like last season, when Vincent let himself be confused by his ex-girlfriend Alex, the Beast has effed up his romance with the world's most understanding and gorgeous cop. He may not really deserve Cat, but their love is so epic that we still want to see them work it out...even though I also can't help wondering how the now-reformed Gabe's feelings for Catherine may also cause issues.
Honorable mention...Tess and J.T....soooo cute!
16. Fitzsimmons, Agents of SHIELD
This show is just bursting with awesome pairings, and I also love Skye/Ward.
But for a favorite pick, I have to go with the sweet, long-simmering, repressed love between the nerdy science duo Fitz and Simmons. Their attempts to conceal their affections are not enough to cover for such goings-on as Fitz putting his life in danger to go in the lab with the infected-with-a-deadly-virus Simmons. And how about Simmons packing Fitz's favorite sandwich when he was going off on a dangerous mission? Completely charming.
15. Eleventh Doctor / Clara, Doctor Who
Doctor Who received a welcome breath of fresh air when Amy and Rory departed and Clara arrived. You know all of those Doctor Who fans who don't like it when the Doctor is in love with his companion? I'm the opposite of that. Doctor/Companion romances are my bread and butter. And with the Eleven/Clara relationship, an epic best-friendship with tinges of clear attraction, warmly and sweetly expressed, Steven Moffat has proved that after all the endless, tiresome Pond-centric episodes, he can indeed still write a really great Doctor/Companion relationship and make it matter to the mythology in compelling ways.
And hooray for that tiny little reference to Tenth Doctor/Rose in the 50th Anniversary Special (when Ten fleetingly felt that some version of Rose was present).
14. Juliet/Avery, Nashville
Sigh. Juliet finally had a self-awakening that made her understand her deep feelings for her guitarist Avery, and when she showed up at his door to bare her heart, a half-dressed Scarlett was there to ruin it. This might have been the year's most frustrating interruption of a shippy moment. Sadly, Scarlett's been too melancholy, vulnerable, and downright whiny for Avery to feel right breaking up with her, and little did he expect Juliet to finally come around at that time. Watching Juliet walk away with tears in her eyes was painful.
This whole scene brought to mind the one from Veronica Mars when Veronica came to reconcile with Logan, only to find him shacked up with Kendall because he had no reason to believe Veronica would take him back. Arrgghh!
Despite all of the problems inherent in this big scene, Juliet and Avery's love is bound to overcome them!
13. Miles/Rachel, Revolution
The captivating and tentative rekindling of the old flame between these soulmates has been wonderful, and I don't doubt that it will continue to be. High points included Rachel's goodbye when it seemed Miles was leaving the settlement they'd been staying in, the flashback to Rachel's pleading admission of love to Miles years in the past, and Rachel telling Miles she hates his macho nonsense when he attempted for the zillionth time to sacrifice himself for her safety.
Although the show has yet to explain what happened when Rachel was captured by the Monroe Militia back in the day, I highly doubt that Miles would have been able to really hurt her. This does still need to be resolved, and I look forward to seeing other developments in this complex relationship. And in the light of Season 2's newly popular ship, Charlroe (more on that to follow, natch), Miles/Rachel is downright appropriate!
12. "RumBelle"
Rumpelstiltskin and Belle, Once Upon a Time
While Belle still doesn't show up in enough episodes, whenever she does, the touching and beautiful redemptive love between Rumple and the fairy tale princess bookworm is undeniable. It's a foregone conclusion that Rumple isn't gone forever, and that he'll soon return to share in more unforgettable RumpBelle moments.
11. "Caskett"
Beckett and Castle, Castle
Unlike some of its genre predecessors, Castle has managed to stay as fresh and thrilling as ever since Beckett and Castle became an item. Whip-smart writing and exquisite chemistry continue to impress in Season 6, especially as Rick and Kate look to marriage and having children together.
Honorable mention: Esplanie!
10. Abbie/Ichabod, Sleepy Hollow
Although Crane has a wife trapped in supernatural purgatory (do you think she's seen Bonnie Bennett, btw?), he and Abbie quickly and inextricably bonded as their roles as saviors on a 7 year mission to prevent the apocalypse was revealed. The sizzling attraction between these two isn't going away anytime soon...or ever.
9. Elijah/Hayley, The Originals
The insatiable pull between Original vampire Elijah and werewolf mama-to-be Hayley has been one of the more fascinating aspects of the overall exemplary Vampire Diaries spin-off. I can't get over how the show has redefined Hayley and developed her into a strong, lovable character...so much so that we completely understand why Elijah feels such powerful, reciprocated longing for her, despite the impossibility of the circumstances (Hayley's less-than-understanding baby daddy, Elijah's brother Klaus, does not approve). Though Klaus may strive to put a wedge between these two, Elijah and Hayley's connection is undeniable.
8. Alex/Sam, Nikita
Ah, I've been shipping these two since way back when Sam was Owen and they barely even interacted. It was just so clear that they belonged together. I'm a diehard Mikita shipper, too, and love how things worked out for Michael and Nikita in the series finale. But I really have a special place in my heart for Alex/Sam, the little ship that could, and did, finally get some love in Season 4.
I wish - along with all of the other Nikita fans out there - that the final season could at least have been 13 or even 22 episodes long, but the brilliant writers made the most of the six final hours. Everytime we saw Alex and Sam together, they sparkled with that love/hate attraction that makes them so special. Alex helps to make Sam a better man, and inspires him - as he told her in their first big love scene - to find his moral center. Sam supports and adores Alex the way she deserves. The subtle, yet clearly shipperific ending that these two got was simply superb.
Damon and Elena, The Vampire Diaries
I will roll with this couple till the wheels fall off because they are so swoon-provokingly epic. If I'm gonna start talking about some Season 5 gripes, right at the top of the list is the inane decision to have Damon "let Elena go." Give me a break! Couldn't these two at least get a full season together after the numerous seasons of full-on Stelena that opened the series?
However, the gorgeously portrayed pain felt by Damon as he pleaded for Elena to stop defending him will go down as one of the most poignant and intense Delena moments ever. And these two will inevitably reunite, though perhaps not soon enough for me (i.e. if it's not immediately/eternally).
6. "Captain Swan,"
Emma and Hook, Once Upon a Time
Ehmagawd, how hot are these two? Some classic love/hate tension played out to a tee in Season 3, which found the bond between the two growing even as Emma denied it continually. When he calls her "Swan"? When he calls her "love"?! Whoooaaa, I can't even process the shipper-tasticness.
Favorite moments have to include the kiss (!!), Hook's confession of love in the Neverland cave scene, and his farewell to Emma when she crossed over the town line back in Storybrooke. It was also amazing when he showed up out of the blue in Emma's new, fairy-tale free, memory-erased life, like a splash of cold water revealing the truth to Emma's destiny. While she seems not to have allowed her feelings for Hook to develop enough for True Love's Kiss to work, I bet if he tried it again in a few episodes, the results might be different!
5. "Klaroline"
Klaus and Caroline, The Vampire Diaries / The Originals
I know these two have yet to interact in person since Klaus headed to New Orleans for The Originals, but their time together in the second half of TVD's fourth season was marvelous. Klaus procured for Caroline a prom dress and a date with Tyler, and by the end of the year he even allowed Tyler's return to Mystic Falls. The Original vampire-werewolf hybrid was generous to the full extent that his wicked nature would allow, and only Caroline could have brought that out in Klaus.
Moreover, at their last parting, Klaus informed Caroline, "he [Tyler] was your first love. I intend to be your last." This was the best Klaus line and the most touching Klaroline scene to date!
And let's not forget, Klaus very much wants Caroline to see New Orleans. Surely it's only a matter of time until something brings Miss Forbes down Louisiana way...though she's sure to run smack into the conflict between Klaus and Marcel, as well as the complex relationship between Klaus and Cami. It will surely be exciting to see how matters develop from there! February sweeps, anyone? Just a suggestion.
*Added note: I just heard that Klaus is coming to Mystic Falls sometime soon!
4. "Olicity"
Oliver and Felicity, Arrow
Oh my goodness. Does anyone not love this pairing? That a romance conceived in the hearts of shippers the world over upon Felicity's first appearance could become canon is proof positive that the Arrow writers know what they're doing. The combination of Felicity, the socially awkward, geek-chic genius hacker, and the angst-ridden hero of Starling City, Oliver Queen, is one of the best ships to sail in years.
Season 2 has generously lavished us with Olicity magic. Felicity was jealous over Oliver's hook-up with Isabel, thoroughly betraying to us the depth of her emotions for her boss. Meanwhile, Ollie told her point blank that he couldn't be with someone he loved because he could never bear to endanger them. Then came the time that Oliver told Felicity he didn't even have to make a choice between saving her and killing again to do so (after solemnly vowing to take no more lives).
And Oliver was more than a little irritated by the presence of future Flash Barry Allen when the crime scene investigator began charming Felicity. However, when Felicity begged Oliver to come back safe right in front of Barry, her new potential beau was clearly cognizant of the bond between these two. And as Season 2 marches on into ever greater heights of awesomeness, the fan base has never been so sure that the Olicity ship is here to stay.
3. Jack/Emily, Revenge
I just absolutely die for these two. Theirs is a truly tragic soulmate-ship interrupted by the cruel twists that life throws their way. As noble as Jack is, we truly feel Emily's pain when she inevitably disappoints him with some new reveal of her ongoing treachery as she strives for revenge against the Graysons with plenty of collateral damage. No one else can evoke the expressions of true heartbreak and regret from Emily that Jack Porter can.
So far in Season 3, some of the couple's most powerful moments include the kiss in the bar (Jack said he felt nothing, but his face said quite the reverse), Emily's confession to Jack and Nolan of her master plan (the profound looks between Emily and Jack!), and the confrontation scene before Emily's wedding to Daniel. When Jack told Emily that she has taken everything from him, even the chance to part on positive terms, his eyes brimmed with the excruciating love and conflict that she brings out in him and yet forces him to stifle.
I cannot wait to see what 2014 will bring for this unique and extraordinary pairing.
2. "Jisbon"
Jane and Lisbon, The Mentalist
Over the years, I've both loved and hated how long the writers delayed allowing Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon to get together. The reasons why these two could not acknowledge their love were founded in the very darkest of angsts - Jane had to first hunt down and kill Red John, Jane was irreparably wounded by the loss of his wife and child, the two work together, and they have their insecurities, too. We all know that from the most painful of situations come the most rewarding ships.
But as the hunt for Red John raged on, we could see it slowly becoming more and more obvious that these two completely adore one another, and their hesitance became more of a protective instinct than anything else. Now that Jane has returned from Mexico and he and Lisbon are back solving cases together, their happiness at being reunited is nearly on a giddy level. The hug they shared at reuniting was amazing, and so was the beyond-adorable scene where Lisbon gifted Jane with a pair of socks to welcome him back to the US permanently. And can we just talk about the letters exchanged while Jane was away, and how Lisbon treasured them? Sigh!
Even the presence of that shameless hussey "Agent Fischer" only makes more clear that Jane's feelings for Lisbon are real, and any interest he seems to show in that ridiculous "Kim" person is merely superficial. Come on, we all know that show runners introduce romantic rivals to mix things up in a long-simmering ship like this because it brings up questions that need to be asked. Is Lisbon jealous? How will Jane handle the situation? How much longer can Jisbon remain unconsummated now that their feelings are so much more overt than ever before? We'll find out when Season 6 returns!
1. "Charlroe"
Charlie and Monroe, Revolution
When Charlie Matheson and Bass Monroe ran into each other at the beginning of Season 2, her first instinct was to immediately murder him. After all, his actions had led to the deaths of her father and brother, even if Monroe did not physically kill them himself.
But from the scene where the pair were held prisoner together in a waterless pool, an eerie awareness dawned on viewers that there was a bizarre chemistry between Charlie and Monroe. Hence, an epic new 'ship was born.
It's worth noting that when it comes to Monroe,
He is one seriously hot, tortured, smart, sarcastic former evil military dictator. My favorite character on the show from the jump.
And as for Charlie,
Needless to say, it's a combustable combination to pair Charlie and Monroe up on adventures.
Interestingly, Bass and Charlie had been on a similar trajectory after the explosive events of the Season 1 finale. Each of them ran away to reinvent themselves in wild new ways and reaffirmed their toughness and seeming imperviousness to vulnerabilities such as falling for the enemy.
Showrunner Rockne O'Bannon has noted, "I'd hate to say that it couldn't happen, but obviously there's a lot of things stacked against it. There's a creepiness factor to it that is on the one hand creepy, and on the other hand is maybe worth exploring. But the sparks between them, that low-level spark, is definitely something we're very cognizant of."
I'm not sure about all this "low-level" stuff, since the screen basically crackles and pops every time Charlie and Monroe look at each other, but otherwise that's a fantastic quote that shows we shippers aren't totally nuts (because let's face it, sometimes we kinda are). As for the creepiness factor, it's impossible not to root for Monroe's redemption because we know from flashbacks and other evidence that he is not simply evil through and through. He's deeply damaged and conflicted. Moreover, the creepiness frankly just makes the Charlie and Monroe scenes a little scary, a lot dangerous, and completely exhilarating.
Some of the Season 2 moments that furthered the growing closeness between Monroe and Charlie included his saving her from a gang of gruesome barflies, their misadventures together when they were captured, and of course, the instantly famous scene of Monroe returning for Charlie in the high school. When she looked at him and said "You came back," the shipperific tension was through-the-roof magical.
Although it would be unrealistic, and perhaps not even the best manner of development, for these two to hook up in earnest for quite some time, I look forward to hopefully seeing a continued slow burn of this so-wrong-it's-right relationship.
Here's a perfect example of Charlroe intensity from early in Revolution's stellar second season:
Whatttt. I can't even handle it. There is just no way to anticipate that level of chemistry between actors or characters, and the uncontrollable nature of that factor is a major part of what makes Charlroe so fascinating.
More Honorable Mentions:
- Pretty Little Liars' Ezria (Ezra cannot be evil!), Haleb, Spoby, and Emily/Paige
- Bones' Booth/Brennan and Hodgela
- Snow/Charming on Once Upon a Time,
- Freya/Dash and Freya/Killian on Witches of East End,
- RigsPelt on The Mentalist,
- Kennex/Stahl on Almost Human
- Holmes/Watson on the superb Elementary (it's okay to ship them while understanding that they probably can't get together until the end of the show).
What 'ships were your favorites from 2013? What do you want to see happen with your fave TV couples in 2014? Share your thoughts in the comments!
Awesome article Virginia. I love Charlie and Monroe, glad it made it to your no.1 spot!
ReplyDeleteI can dig Monroe and Charlie. I get the creepiness factor but thought it more creepy to ship Miles and Charlie which I actually do prefer over Rachel and Miles.
ReplyDeleteI literally just finished the Walking Dead - so I would add to this list Daryl and Carol. Good job on the list!
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading, @Freda , and for adding another couple to the list! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, @Sharon Seymour! Glad to hear there are more Charlroe shippers out there :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading, @Coastal5. I instantly leaped past the creepy factor on Charlroe 'cause I just love them so much :)
ReplyDeleteSo many awesome couples in 2013! 11/Clara, Jane/Lisbon, Damon/Elena... but I think my heart was won over (and most excited about) Arrow's Oliver and Felicity. Totally unexpected, delightfully fun, and just a case of "never was supposed to happen and yet..." there they are. Amazing. I can't wait to see what 2014 holds for them.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how much Olicity have grown on me this season. And I was dead against anything more than platonic for them last season. They can never be a central plot in Arrow but they're amazing to watch as a break from the otherwise intense show (though that is what I majorly love Arrow for!).
ReplyDeleteI have just started watching Revenge Season 3 and I always had a soft corner for Jack and Emily. I have this weakness for childhood love anyway and I love the angst I've seen so far between them. And though this season is not sitting as well with me as the first two, but these two are definitely keeping me on board :)
Nice article!
I love Emma/Hook mostly and rooting for them, and also Jack/Emily, Mindy/Danny! I rather get into shipping but when i do root for and ship something it has to mean something on-screen and narrative and these couples do esp Emma/Hook. I think all the main couples in OUAT with the well developed story/interactions Snowing and Rumbelle and Captain Swan added in it.
ReplyDeleteOlicity is basically Arrow's Sweethearts. Their relationship is everything I love in a pairing. TThey balance each other out so well.
ReplyDeleteI miss Tiva!
ReplyDeleteB&B then Caskett and Tiva for me. :)
ReplyDeleteThis year I've also enjoyed shipping Densi (Deeks/Kensi) from NCIS:LA; the development of their relationship has been really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDo you know something we don't? Because on the 10 episodes they've aired, Ichabod Crane has NOT gotten new clothes. So what are you talking about?
ReplyDelete-Okay, this one has only
ReplyDeletegotten more intense since Ichabod got new clothes (after staying in his
Revolutionary War era coat for much of the first batch of episodes) and
got even hotter.-
WHAT?! What are you talking about?
Klaroline mash Captain Swan fitxzsimmons olicity. ^_6
ReplyDeletelove them to death
Love all of them, except for the ones in the shows I don't watch. I'm so hooked with Olicity, Delena, Klaroline, Ichabbie, Elijah/Haley, Julliette/Avery, Carlie/Quinn, Mary/Bash, Fitzsimmons, Steferine, Freya/Kilian and Spoby but for some reason I still can't shake Spencer with Wren. Also I love Virgina and Dr. Masters from masters of Sex, Erik Sooki from True Blood, gabi and Matt from Chicago Fire, Abby/david and olitz from Scandal.
ReplyDeleteAlso when Jack told Emily he could never hate her I kinda died.
From Grimm: Nick and Juliette, Monroe and Rosalee.
ReplyDelete"Lost Girl" has 25 ships in each episode ;).
ReplyDeleteHey guys, my mistake, I believe I was observing that he didn't have his coat on recently, and wrongly assumed that he had new clothes. I'll fix it.
ReplyDeleteNo Booth/Brennan on the list but a HM? The big wedding in the season after a great relationship. _?Jajaja at the clearly not ships! Too many. Rigpelt are a actual couple Lisbon and Jane a no couple, the most chemistry-less.
ReplyDeleteOkay! Fixed. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't ship any of these. Number 5 is probably the worst thing ever invented by fans.
ReplyDeleteI never ever felt right shipping Rumbelle. The fact that Rumple, as much as I love watching him onscreen, murdered his wife with absolutely no repercussions really puts me off. Belle is a QUEEN who deserves so much better tbh.
ReplyDeletenumber 4 is my favorite, Olicity is perfection!!!
ReplyDeleteNumber 1 - Charlie and Monroe - has such potential, my favorite thing this season.
I also like numbers 6, 9, 12 and 23, nut I have to say, I would also go for Steroline easily.
We almost ship exactly the same things (at least for the shows we both watch ;) ) except for Emily/Jack and Captain Swan...
ReplyDeleteEmily/Jack was my OTP since the begining of Revenge and I was so excited for them after the S2 final but they were such a letdown this season! (And the Jack/Margaux thing... arrrg.) I don't know, I used to ship them so hard but now I'm kinda rooting for Emily/Aiden. I really hope E/J will be better written in the second part of the season....
For Captain Swan, I just find them too rushed and "cliché" and I think the writers are changing Hook way to fast. I used to LOVE him as his own character but now I have the feeling that his only purpose is to be Emma's love interest... Sure they're really hot and Colin and JMO have great chemistry but I just wanted something less forced for them. They should have taken more time for developping them... because in canon time, Hook moved on from Milah and fell in love with Emma in five days...
Of course I'm not entierly objective about this because I (really really :p) ship SwanQueen but even without that I still think it was too fast. Delena, Casket and plenty others took 3 seasons or more for their real first kiss (and I'm still waiting for Klaroline and Jisbon) and that's good because epic love stories take times ;)
As for Charlie and Monroe, I'm really intrigued by them! I stopped watching Revolution after the first part of season one but I might start watching again :) Is it worth it??
@supernana494, thanks for the great comment! I think Season 2 of Revolution has been excellent so far and I recommend it.
ReplyDeleteI´m not really into shipping, but like all others I do enjoy when the characters have good chemistry. I especially enjoy Boyd/Ava (Justified), Virginia/Bill (masters of Sex), Hood/Carrie (Banshee), Klaus/Caroline(TVD/TO) and Oliver/Felicity (Arrow).....Oh and Jaime/Brienne (GOT).
ReplyDeleteMe too, @Luana Arturi! Emily/Jack are so awesome. Thanks for reading. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat article! I'm so glad Captain Swan was included! They are amazing! As for the attempted true love kiss not working, it's been said (by the writers and the show itself) and shown on the show with the other true love couples Snowing and Rumbelle that TLK doesn't and never will work when one person has memory loss and can't remember the other person.
ReplyDeleteLike when Snow White took the potion to forget Charming and she knocked him out and tied him to a tree when he tried it and when Belle lost her memory after crossing the town line and Rumple tried to kiss her in the hospital and she screamed and pushed him away. I love that they are paralleling Captain Swan with both true love couples on the show. That speaks volumes to me along with all the buildup with their interactions and hints of their connection since Emma and Hook first met. It's all been planned from the start.
Also I love Olicity and Ichabbie so much too! I'm happy they were included as well!
we share a lot of the same complaints about CS!
ReplyDeleteYet, it's the biggest ship on two shows, so maybe all these fans know what they are talking about.
ReplyDeleteThere were times, when Hitler was loved by throngs. Does it make him good person?
ReplyDeleteAs too Hook changing too fast he was meant to be used more in season 2, but because Colin broke his leg in several places last year and had to recover for over 7 weeks they had to do major rewrites on the scripts and their plan. It may seem rushed to some, but the development was there from the moment Emma and Hook met and climbed the beanstalk. Also he may have started out a villainous character, but he was never meant to be a full out villain. Adam and Eddy have even said in interviews they'd wanted Captain Hook since season 1, but couldn't use him until the rights to use him (and Peter Pan/Neverland) were taken care of.
ReplyDeleteI just can't ship Bass and Charlie. I just can't. I can see why others would, don't get me wrong, and I'm a very open minded guy. But Charlie and Bass just have such a terrible history with each other. It's really confusing! I've seen people call the relationship between Jeff and Annie on Community creepy because of the age difference, then be completely fine with the age difference between Bass and Charlie.
ReplyDeleteShe is the niece (more than likely child) of his ex-best friend. I haven't watched the current season yet (I'll get around to it), but when the ship came up I checked out the Bass and Charlie scenes on youtube. I can see the chemistry there, but if the ship ever actually happens I'm never going to be able to get rid of how much the relationship weirds me out.
If you ship these two then that's fine, but I can't get over how wrong it feels to me.
I do not like Damon/Elena at all
ReplyDeleteTVD/TO: I agree with you on Stefan/Katherine (I always wanted them to be explored better/properly in Season 2 and that never happened so I'm glad it's come back up). I don't ship Elena with either Salvatore - I actually think they are both better off without her and I think they should chose each other and leave Elena behind. Elena seems to just suck the fun out of anyone she's with. I have serious issues with Elijah/Hayley. I don't see it at all and I honestly think that if Elijah had met Hayley before she slept with Klaus he would have had zero interest in her (I think the only reason he cares about her is because of the baby) and I think Hayley is only interested in Elijah because he seems to care about her. I also had previously thought that Elijah would be above going after a woman his brother had knocked up. I do enjoy the Klaus/Caroline dynamic. I don't think it'll happen anytime soon but they're one of my favorites to see interact and I like them together.
ReplyDeleteI never saw Fitz/Simmons in a romantic light at all and I don't think I ship anyone on that show. I also for some reason never ship the Doctor with anyone - I didn't ship him with Rose and I don't ship him with Clara. I also don't ship Abbie/Ichabod at all and I hope the show never goes there and they stay just friends (Booth & Brennan getting together ruined Bones for me and I don't want to see that happen with Sleepy Hollow). I don't think I ship anyone on Revolution - I liked Miles/Nora but I'm just not that into Miles/Rachel. I'm not all that invested in any of the OUAT ships either but I do kind of like Emma/Neal.
He didn't change at all for the better in season 2 though. He was on a mission of revenge throughout the whole season, changing sides, pledging his loyalties only to those who would provide a means to his end goal of killing Rumpel. I don't see how he was changing for the better when he lock Emma and the others in the cell because Cora had upstaged them. I didn't see him change for the better when he tortured Archie, threatened and attacked Belle, tried to kill Rumpel and remained complicit in the torture of Regina. The only sign of a non-villainous streak was during the flashback with Baelfire, when he showed the intention of letting go of his hatred for the love of Bae as his family. And now in season 3, the writer's have changed his reason for going to Neverland from Bae (which was truly quite touching) to Emma, with no explanation. We see no conflict about working with his enemy, Rumpel, none of the internal drama of letting go of his revenge and hatred, and certainly none of the warm feelings Hook exhibited in Season 2 finale for Bae. All of Hook's unique qualities and complexities are washed away for a half-baked love triangle, so I certainly don't see how that's anything to root for or enjoy.
ReplyDeleteYeah I know about Colin's leg, maybe it would have change a few things who knows :) I know the development was there since the begining because they clearly introduce Hook as a love interest for Emma but I still think Hook change to fast (again vilain and not over Milah for 300 years to "heroish" and in love with Emma in a week) I ship a lot of ships which are really similar to CS in some ways (Delena, Spike/Buffy, ...) but they all took way more times to really develop :)
ReplyDeleteI don't care that Hook was a vilain. Hell, I ship Swan Queen so I can't be hypocrit by saying that Hook is wrong for Emma, that he abandoned her in Rumple's cell etc. But I don't know, something about CS is bothering me and I really think it's because it was rushed (and I have some issues about how SQ is treated compared to SF and CS but I wont go there because shipping wars are stupid ) but hey it's Once Upon A Time, a show where Ariel and Eric were true love after a five minutes conversation so who cares if Hook change totally in a week... :p
i think TBBT Penny and Leonard deserve to be here as well. And probably Sheldon and Aime too
ReplyDeleteLMAO! Did you just compare the act of shipping to supporting Hitler? roflmao! Oh.... people... really?
ReplyDelete…I can agree on most, except Emily and Jack and Mary and Bash. I feel Jack and Emily have moved on from their childhood crush. As for Bash and Mary, I will never ever be on board that ship. How can people ship someone who takes advantage of their brother's drunk fiancé? That whole situation (ship) irks me like no other. And yes, folks are calling them "Mash" and/or "Mabastian".
ReplyDeleteHayijah, Olicity, Klarone and Captian Swan, are my favourite ships from the list.
I agree I hate shipping wars too and I can understand how you feel. I'm hoping for and figure that when it comes back in March they will have more time to develop, even with the craziness of the Wicked Witch being thrown into the mix. lol Yeah Eric and Ariel were definitely the fastest meeting and falling for each other the show has had so far. XD Snow and Charming fell pretty fast and so did Cinderella and her prince too though, but nothing like Eric and Ariel.
ReplyDeleteshe wasn't his wife anymore she was hooks wh0re then. she was a bully and abusive to him and left her 3 year old to have
ReplyDeleteadventure with a pirate. and after that to live happily ever after with him with no repercussions? duh she deserve nothing good. but even then if that b didn't start wipe her feet on him her end would be different. stupid cruel b.
rumbelle is #1 for me and don't care
ReplyDeleteI don't really care for the sexist terms you've used in your comment, and I'd ask that you'd not use the terms "whore" or "b" (which I'm sure means what I think it means). I'm aware of Milah's abusive behaviour towards Rumpel, but that does not, at all, not in the slightest, validate violent retaliation. Instead of standing up to her, he chose to use his ill-gotten power to violently murder her.
ReplyDeletecs is so forced and ridiculous it's painful to watch. seriously even swan queen is better than this and I hate swan queen lol at least swen have chemistry
ReplyDeleteThank. You.
ReplyDeleteGotta love TVD's misogynistic audience and how their squeeing over mass murderous "bad boys" (because OMG HE'S SO HAWT!!!!!!!!!111) keeps that show going. If that's what teen/early 20's girls are into these days, what a sad world we live in.
I *will* say, though - in terms of the level of ridiculousness and contrivance, and only existing because fans screamed for it to happen, Alex/Sam from Nikita do give Klaus/Caroline a run for their money.
I don't share your opinion on Belle as an individual, but when it comes to being disgusted with the pairing... absolutely. I don't know how anyone could think that relationship isn't just the result of Stockholm Syndrome. He locked her in a dungeon, threatened her... and oh yeah, there's that great scene where Rumpel wants to murder Robin Hood (I think?), and drags Belle along with him, and when she begs him not to do it - he uses magic to trap her inside the ground and render her helpless. Charming. Then, when Rumpel commits the incredibly noble and impressive act of not murdering Robin Hood, Belle rewards him with a big hug. The epitome of romance, I tell ya.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that Rumbelle, Delena and Klaroline all appear here seem to suggest that the author is really into misogynistic ships.
I actually don't think I would mind the ship that much if the writing reflected how problematic the ship is, but I find that the show and the fandom really tend to gloss over how messed up the relationship is by grandstanding with proclamations of how their love is true and pure... yeah, that doesn't sit right with me. Rumpel's sacrifice by killing Pan earned him some points, but I wish this show would have the villains confront their past actions.
ReplyDelete"Then, when Rumpel commits the incredibly noble and impressive act of not murdering Robin Hood, Belle rewards him with a big hug. The epitome of romance, I tell ya." lmao yeah seriously. Where's Rumpel's gold star and cookie?!
HE LET HER GO. MANY TIMES. SHE CHOSE HIM. SHE WANTS TO BE WITH HIM.
ReplyDeleteand yes people can ship them. because some people KNOW what ss actually is.
repercussions? please. who has repercussions on our show? regina? hook? NOBODY.
ReplyDeleteOliver/Shado was my favourite couple until Shado passed so Oliver/Sara for me
ReplyDeleteYeah that's a HUGE gripe I have with the writer's on this show. You want me to root for the redemption of this character? SHOW ME their redemption, don't just have a character state "I'm getting better!". I'm still angry the writer's laughed off Regina's rape of Graham and completely ignored the Hook's past violent behavior. These characters need to face the consequences of their actions before they should be allowed a happy ending.
ReplyDeleteOUTLAW QUEEN [= Regina and Robin Hood in OUaT, since episode 3x12].
ReplyDeleteBelle had the option to either let her father's kingdom burn or become Rumpel's slave (I'm sorry, when you're kept in a dungeon and aren't free to leave - he initially had no intention of letting her go - you're a slave, not a "caretaker of the estate"). So yes, as far as I'm concerned she was essentially kidnapped, and fell for her kidnapper. Even when he did let her go, it was because he believed she'd been sent by Regina and was plotting against him, not because he gave a crap about her. And then there's that scene I referred to with Robin Hood - do you not find these kinds of things disturbing? I guess you'd be a-okay with a boyfriend who can abuse you via magic whenever he's annoyed by you.
ReplyDeleteYou know, for once, I'd like to see a relationship between an innocent and powerless male character and a powerful female character who is a monster and mass murderer, holds him prisoner, and/or doesn't hesitate to hurt him when she feels like it. I'm sure everyone would express disgust at this abusive, horrible relationship. Yet, these types of relationship happen all the time when the woman is the vulnerable one, and people see it as beautiful and romantic. Gag.
That's a cool one, @Michu1945! I'm interested to see what happens with Regina and Robin Hood. Thanks for reading :)
ReplyDeletewell I root for rumple. I don't think he was THAT bad. at least he didn't kill/rape/shoot anyone in storybrooke. and I don't see how he could have repercussions from murdering a woman who once was his wife. omg rumple you killed woman treated you like a dog for years before running away leaving her own child behind? 300 years ago!? idk
ReplyDeletebut yeah it bothers me that they even go that way spouse murders, parents murders, child murders. honestly? it can't be redeemed why they even go that way.
Yes, thank you, I'm focusing sick of characters doing horrible things and never having to atone for them in any form. It's one thing if a character is framed as a villain, it's quite another when we're supposed to be rooting for them to find love over the corpses of their past victims.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, regarding Regina and Graham, I guess at least we have an equal opportunity attitude about rape: when Damon raped Caroline (and Andie) on TVD, it was never acknowledged as such. And hordes of Damon fans still insist that it wasn't, because you know, you really have the option of saying no to a vampire you're terrified of when he mind-controls you into not being afraid of him. *eyeroll*
she CHOSE to go with him AND end her engagement with gaston NOT kidnapped no matter how you want her to be.
ReplyDeletehe let her go when he send her to fetch straw, let her go after tlk (without any harm to her kingdom AND he wanted her back so she could have a home). let her go admitting he is a monster back in storybrooke. let her go in te crocodile providing her with leaving space and a job. let her go when he went to neverland (he thought he left for good). not enough?
I do find 2x19 disturbing and I don't think it was or meant to be romantic at all. I think a&e don't watch they show and don't like rumbelle. skin deep was a masterpiece on it's own and judging by a&e newest additions to the story they didn't even watch it.
So you think Rumpel was completely faultless in the failure of his marriage? I don't see it that way at all. I saw it that Milah, though viscous and cruel, told Rumpel she was willing to give their marriage another chance if he moved them away to a place people didn't know of his family's reputation. But Rumpel's cowardice and fear of the world caused him to reject the opportunity to mend things with his wife. Marriage is about give and take, and he wasn't willing to be brave enough to make a better life for his family. What Milah did in response was vile and proved that she was a bad mother, but as a wife? Both Milah and Rumpel were responsible for the failure of their marriage, though Milah showed more obvious signs of abusive behaviour. That being said, they were technically still married, and though what transpired between them was questionable, the fact of the matter was that he murdered his wife, without Belle or even his own son, addressing the issue onscreen. I have other opinions on Milah's erasure from the plot, but the fact that he murdered his wife in cold-blood without the acknowledgement of it is mind-boggling.
ReplyDeleteI love watching him, he's sneaky, conniving, vicious, but he also has a lot of love in his heart. I'm just not okay with people whitewashing Rumpel's bad actions or negative character traits to prop him or his relationship with Belle. But I feel that way across the board with the OUAT characters and relationships. It's why I don't ship anyone on the show. But I love Rumpel, warts and all, I only wish the writers would do him justice.
Klaroline all the way!!
ReplyDeleteKlaroline is Bad?! Really
ReplyDeleteYet, you are shipping two mercenaries together. Both unrighteous as the next.
And another thing... the fans don't ship Klaroline because klaus is "hot, and dreamy" and "bad boy". They ship him with Caroline for a number of valid and respectable reasons.
Don't label people like that when you don't even know the whole story.
Olicity, Klaroline and Captian Swan <3 <3 <3
ReplyDeletefor me the greatest couple on tv ever is The Doctor/River Song, i don't think that two characters can have more chemistry than that
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about Hayley and Elijah ship. I don't like them but I can't stand Hayley so maybe that the reason I can't ship her with Elijah but if that ship keeps the writers from trying to make Klaus and Hayley into a romance then I will tolerate it. I also hate that the writers are making Hayley into this "I'am the innocent pregnant victim" she betrayed Tyler and the pact and she had the nerve of calling Tyler in episode" bloodletting" a fillfy backstabbing halfbreed"
ReplyDeleteand it really surprised me, #shocked #literally
ReplyDeletebit.ly/1drqQIn
Agree with Mari....Right now Klaroline is the biggest Ship in both Show's....!
ReplyDeleteI don't see it that way. that conversation they had before she run away was purely to clear her conscience. I don't think it was first time they had such conversation and she knew the answer and already decided everything. being a ''coward'' doesn't mean being bad person and I don't believe it helped to mend things with bully of a wife. she wanted him dead ffs. she was ashamed of him and she despite him, she humiliated him for years and you think moving to another place would change things? no way. idk how these two ended up together their marriage was mistake and it's a tragedy for both of them. I don't think he musreded her in cold blood as you say. they had a history of abuse (she was abusive) and she started to abuse him again not to mention playing with him on the ship and the only way for him to find his son. was that really necessary? he wasn't defenseless cripple anymore and she continued to act like a bully. seriously how else it could end?
ReplyDeleteI think that if anyone it's who bae should address these things not belle. it was hundreds of years before her and she has no right to forgive or not forgive him for that. she still loves him and wants to be with him do you want another lecture about how she still sees good in him? lol and besides they had to give rumbelle screentime to do so and it's obvious they don't want to do that. but I don't think that belle have to have anything to do with it.
I'm not even sure Elijah has any idea about what happened in Mystic Falls and what Hayely's involvement with Professor Shane and the hybrid slaughter. He dumped Katherine after he found out she handed Jeremy over the Silas to be killed so I can't imagine he'd be cool with Hayley getting 12 hybrids & Carol Lockwood killed in exchange for a flash drive with info about where her bio-parents were buried.
ReplyDeleteI don't want Hayley with either one of them. She should have other priories right now like preparing to be a mother - I don't think she should have a love interest at all right now.
Hayley and Elijah? Yes, because having sex with the girl who's carrying your brother's child is not creepy at all.
ReplyDeleteCowardice doesn't make one a bad person, but it is a character fault that leads one into bad choices. You cna read into it as a a conscience clearing tactic, but reading from what happens onscreen, she wanted to hear what Rumpel had to say. It was very clearly a case of her giving him the option, but him not taking it. Anything read outside of it isn't considered canon, to be honest. It was cold-blooded because he lacked pity or remorse, and even if it wasn't "cold-blooded", there's really no way you can spin murder into a positive thing. And I'm not saying that she wasn't a bully, because she was, and she was vile, as was Hook. It could have ended with Rumpel letting go of his anger, which he couldn't, which led to him becoming violent.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying she doesn't have the right to forgive him, but I'm saying that because of lack of exploration of Rumpel's sins and Belle's lack of acknowledgement of them onscreen, the relationship doesn't sit right with me. But I know if I were in a relationship, I would sure as hell want to talk about the fact that he murdered his wife, regardless of whether or not it happened 300 years ago. There's a plethora of issues needing to be dealt with there.
I just don't get it either. I'm baffled by how many people seem to ship them and I wish I could understand why. Can someone who ships them tell me why?
ReplyDeleteok so if your abusive spouse tells you to move on with him to another country or he leaves you will be a coward to not comply?
ReplyDeleteI'm not trying to spin milah's death into positive thing. but I think he killed her in anger bc she acted wrong not in cold blood that all. he didn't plan to kill her really. he was said when hook told him she died. he wanted revenge on him not her and she acted as any sane person would when talking with the dark one not like she used to with defenseless husband I believe the end would be different.
I agree that the writing is uneven and they leave many things behind for the sake of the plot but I believe that rumple is the most well written of them all regardless. probably bc robert acting and bc rumple was written by jane espenson from the start and I wish she continued to write him when a&e moved her to regina and on wonderland the writing quality for his character and the show decreased 10 times. I don't think shed miss pink elephant in the room as other writers do.
Do they really have a big fan base? I wish the writers would of brought out everything that she did in Mystic Falls. They don't mind telling about all the wrong doings Klaus has done and how he maybe a bad father but I don't think Hayley would be a good mother. Hayley went from being a backstabbing friend who helped mastermind a massacre for information on already dead parents to the girl who is carrying a miracle baby that comes from a royal werewolf pack who already has the moral Elijah in the hook. I don't like how the writers had Klaus give Hayley a free pass on the whole helping unsire the hybrids and helping Shane with the 2 massacre and then telling Katherine of cure but Tyler got his mother and pack killed and then he was ran out of town but Hayley got his protection, then had a one night stand that got her pregnant and now she is the most important person in the Mikaelson family according to Elijah. I'am sorry but that does not make sense to me.
ReplyDeleteReally Bazooka, with the Hitler reference! (Eye roll). I don't know why people watch a show about vampires, which are all basically killers and get wigged out when they don't have Hallmark channel type of romances.
ReplyDeleteNo, but she probably is into the Beauty and the Beast type of relationships in which the power of love can help to redeem even the most broken of people. Would we ship these couple in real life? Of course not, but this is fantasy and I respect people enough to believe that they know the difference between the two.
ReplyDeleteIn this case, yes, actually. He sought her out to bring her home, he wanted her to be a good mother, and he acknowledges in the scene after the bar that they used to be happy and asks what it would take to make them happy again. He made the offer, and when she set her condition, he brushed it off. He wanted to mend their relationship but wasn't willing to actually DO anything about it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not debating the fact that Milah was awful; i'm saying Rumpel played a part in the demise of his marriage. And I would have supported his position if he hadn't let his anger and his own pain over losing Bae cause him to lose control and murder Milah.
Thank you for giving Jane and Lisbon the no. 2 spot, I love them and love the The Mentalist.
ReplyDeletehe never said that. when she started that it wasn't life for her she wanted to see the world he said they talked abt that. and he asked her to try for bae to be happy HERE. and she said OK. and run away next day.
ReplyDeleteshe wasn't a good mother because she wasn't a good mother not because rumple didn't move with her. and I already said that I don't beleive for a bit that after everything she's done they could be toghether and love each other again. theres no way they could be back together again. you don't do such things with ppl you love you don't humiliate them, you don't wish them dead, you don't leave them and you don't lie that you got kidnapped and raped repeatedly by the crew to make your husband suffer for years to come. she was petty cruel woman.
of course they both played the part in their marriage demise but frankly I don't see him not moving with her as argument in milah defense esp after 3x08 I get why he didn't try to change things, to get ''fresh start'' and was happy with ''small'' things like being alive and have a family (whatever it was) he never had. they were too different the only thing she could do is leave properly like a decent woman. leaving as she did I have no respect for her and I feel little sorrow about her end.
JISBON!!!
ReplyDeleteThe fact that Hook';s character is motivated by love is what gives him hope, he has that with Emm
ReplyDeleteKlaroline all the way!!
ReplyDeleteHe acknowledges that they talked about making a change, she says that they can start over and be happy somewhere else, and still he writes her off.
ReplyDeleteAnd I literally don't know what else to say to you about this. I acknowledged that she was an awful woman, but I still think that he was 100% wrong for murdering her. Violence against women, any violence against anyone isn't cool with me, which makes me uncomfortable shipping Rumbelle as "True Love" before confronting the issues that arise from his past actions, whether he was justified or not. Ship what you like and by all means, consider Rumpel absolved of his sins, but I don't and likely won't ever feel comfortable shipping Rumbelle.
I think we kinda guess how this is gonna go esp when they meet... they meet and have a banter, and instantly bond over something - isnt that what Snowing, Rumbelle and Captain Swan met and did, and Robin and Regina have to meet in the Enchanted Forest, its where most of the true couples meet
ReplyDeleteAwesome, that Im not the lone Oliver/Sara shipper, the two got so much chemistry its ridiculous. I think they became my OTP, hopefully they get the the recognition they deserve one day.
ReplyDeleteSorry about Shado, I really thought she was awesome and her & Ollie had good chemistry.
he didn't AGREE with her in the first place to brush her off as you said. she did. she agree with him and leave.
ReplyDeleteviolence against ANYONE that is. milah was abusive woman and I bet if she was a man abusing defenseless spouse there were far less complains about killing her.
belle has nothing to do with milah p.o.s. and I don't want another 2+2=4 kind of lecture for him. he knows what he done wrong and he doesn't think himself worthy of love as he is, that he is a monster, that he is not enough (thanks to milah for that too btw) and she loves him STILL. she believes in him and that makes him believe in himself and that makes him better. if that is not true love I don't know what is.
Love that list! u read my mind in some of those!
ReplyDeleteThis was great!! I swooned and squeed with my favorites, and cringed at the ones i didn't agree with. Hahaha, Overall this was amazing, and it made me even more excited for the shows to return!!! I am dying here!! (To name a few). Delena,Olicity, Haylijah, Ichabbie!! Sigh, be still my heart!! = ) (but i have more).
ReplyDeleteI can't really change your mind, and you can't change mine, because personally Rumpel "wins" as the most abusive spouse, considering how he, you know, murdered her and everything. And Belle IS (or was, considering Rumpel appeared dead in the last episode) in a relationship with him, his issues are her issues as well. I just think Belle deserves better and think that's a really fucked up rendition of true love, especially because people are so keen on ignoring Rumpel's character faults.
ReplyDeleteActually we had that on Once with Regina and Graham. She made him her prisoner when she ripped his heart out. And in Storybrooke chose to kill him because he decided he didn't want any more of the "relationship" she forced on him with the curse.
ReplyDeleteSomeone has probably already commented on this, but Hook's attempt to use "True love's kiss" didn't work on Emma because her memory was altered. This doesn't confirm either way that Captain Swan is True Love or not. Just that it doesn't matter regardless because Emma has no memory of any relationship, platonic or romantic. This happened with Snowing too (and explained by one of the writers on twitter! :))
ReplyDeletewe have regina. oh wait. she was a woman so her killing her husband
ReplyDeletewasn't a big deal right? give her a baby she will neame him after her father she murdered.
I'm not ignoring his flaws I know about them.
lets discuss them to no end now. just admit that in your eyes he'll
never be worthy of love bc 300 years ago he killed his abusive cheating
former wife while she was abusing him and robbing him of chance to find
his son.
belle deserves who she wants to be with and that is rumple.
when you love someone and want to be with him you don't hold his past
actions against him. ok he killed his wife now what? nothing will change
that. now what? she supports him and helps him get better. they care
for each other and make each other better and that is love.
.... who said I was willing to dismiss Regina of her crimes? I mentioned above in a comment you responded to that I really dislike the way the writers dismiss the villains of their consequences. I think they need to confront Regina's crimes, and it's why I don't feel comfortable shipping Swan Queen.
ReplyDeleteIf Rumpel comes back from the dead, and there is an open conversation about Milah, his reaction and his violence towards her, it will show real development and ownership of his wrongdoings. I would LOVE that, and then I might ship it. But until the writers and fans stop glossing over these issues, I'll continue to not ship.
I'm really starting to get concerned with the HATRED you seen to have for Milah. Like, yeah, she's a bad person, but you seem keen on making it seem like she DESERVED to die. She was cruel in her treatment of Rumpel, but it wasn't like she was Cora levels of bad.
yes and then they all cry and hug hahaha there will be no conversation about milah. bc she is nobody and no one cares but you not even her son or her lover. and it's plot holes not character flaws. and you dismissing the ship bc of it and talking about it to no end lol they give rumbelle literally 2 min in half of season and you want it to be spend on convo about milah? on another lecture? f no. she KNOWS about it. and wants to be with him regardless. nuff said.
ReplyDeletemy hatred towards milah? lol of course why would I hate her she was such a nice woman. saying that milah was abusive is ''hatred'' saying that rumple don't deserve love and second chance is ''acknowledgement'' of his flaws. mhm I'm not saying she deserved to die but she didn't deserve happy ending with her new c-chaser either.
Well now you just seem defensive and angry. I want Milah to not be ignored because I want CLOSURE and development but if those things get in the way of your shipping, proceed to ignore the reality of the poor writing on this show, and I shall continue to hope that this show will receive a long overdue improvement of quality.
ReplyDeleteand how dismissing character and bashing the ship helps improve the writhing tell me?
ReplyDeletethese things don not get in the way of MY shipping. it's YOUR problem. I already said that it's enough for me that she knows about it and she accepts something she can't change and move on. theres nothing more to say about it.
So having an opinion is considered "hate" now? In no way, shape of form have I "bashed" the ship. I merely expressed, right from the beginning, that I never felt comfortable with the ship because of the circumstances. This is EXACTLY what I hate about shippers; any dissenting opinion is considered bashing or "hate". I was expressing an opinion, and you had the option of downvoting and moving on, but you chose to respond, sometimes quite forcefully, and now I'm the one who's the bad guy because I dare offer my critique of the show and the characters? It really does seem to be YOUR problem if you can't laugh off my opinion and move on. Clearly you feel like you need to prove something, so by all means, go ahead and rant, if it makes you feel better about your ship. People like you ruin this fandom because you simply can't comprehend that someone might have a different opinion. It's simply ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteidk you tell me. why my opinion of milah is hate and yours aren't? biased much?
ReplyDeleteyou are the one who rants here not me. and I actually find your ''oh but they should spend those 2 minutes of screentime they get once in a half of season discussing milah death that happened zillion years before they even met tho no one cares not even her son or former lover'' rant quite ridiculous. and I do laugh. why you allowed to state your ''criticism'' and I'm not? biased much? stop telling me I ignore things or can't comprehend something I said numerous times that I know about them, accept them and move on. and only wish you could do the same. and if you can't move on without personal insults the discussion is over.
When you start one of your comments calling my comment "bashing", that makes me begin to question whether we're having a valid conversation. You've used every negative descriptive term to describe Milah, but when I get to talking about Rumpel's character behaviour, you circle back and call her things like POS, and reiterate that she cheated, was abusive, etc. something that we've already established and doesn't need to be extrapolated on further. So yeah, that's what I would consider unnecessary hate. And considering the amount of vile, sexist slurs being thrown around with the character's name, I tend to pick up on Milah hate quite easily.
ReplyDeleteI said that facing the issues of past actions are important for Rumpel's character, because 2 seconds of dialogue is still 2 seconds of development that isn't assumed to have happened offscreen, but something tangible, acknowledged and canon. How is it ridiculous to ask the writers to show us the story? It means more Belle, more Rumpel, and more about how they deal with THEIR relationship, in a realistic, belieable way that I could get behind.
Just because I don't lay down and accept something doesn't mean I'm being hateful, it means I want MORE from the ship, from the writers and I'm going to comment about it. I find that if I point out that certain main characters are not 100% blameless, people get mad and defensive, which is what I'm sensing based on the fact that you've boiled down my analysis of Rumpel to "dismissing character and constantly bashing the ship".
But yes, ending it here seems like a good idea. There seems to be nothing left to be said.
are you serious? how many time you mentioned MY problems, MY ignoring something, ME not comprehending something just bc I didn't agree with you?
ReplyDeletesexist slurs? lol ok if playing sexist card is your only way out. I do know too what rumple has done should I consider you bring it up again and again hate? yes milah was abusive and she cheated on rumple why I can't say that?
you ask the writers here? HERE? seriously? you can talk to them on twitter directly and they say that everything is not as you think and saw with your own eyes and that they are excited for more things to come. do you really think the writers hear you HERE? lol they even cut a scene right before belle gets shot. in the car. maybe they did have this conversation and they cut it off. as almost everything with rumbelle. they cut it off. I want more to rumbelle story too but from what they show us and that
limited time these 2 get together to accept and move on was the best
solution. it doesn't get in the way with me at all. neal/rumple however.. they build a conflict they can't resolve. the whole 'reunion' didn't work for me and I wanted to be more than ''oh you had a shitty father then it's okay you let go of my hand'' that was ridiculous and there the discussion of milah's death was really necessary.
The Charlie and Monroe relationship would be just gross. He can't be redeemed or saved by Charlie; he has murdered children, tried to develop chemical weapons and nearly set off a nuclear bomb that would have killed tens of thousands of people. Just because he has had a hard life does not make his actions any less like those of a psychotic, megalomaniac hell-bent on world domination. And for Charlie to do a complete 180 and have a relationship with him would be ludicrous and vaguely nauseating. I don't care what sparks there might be between them, if it happened I would set my television on fire.
ReplyDeleteEZRIA!!!
ReplyDeleteSince no one else has bothered to do so yet, I'm going to disagree with you. I've stated why a million times already so I won't do it again, but if anyone wants to upvote someone who is a Captain Swan shipper now you can.
ReplyDeleteI don't compare Hitler to this ... I'm talking about fact that if something is popular then people take for granted that it's something worth being popular. Shipping pair in which someone tried to kill his 'full of light love' three times is just example of that.
ReplyDeleteWhat 2 mercenaries would those be, exactly? If you're talking about Nikita and Alex, A, I don't ship them, B, defining them as mercenaries shows that you know nothing about Nikita, and C, Nikita actually took responsibility for her sins and tried to make amends, whereas Klaus' reign of terror ended... when, exactly? No longer watch TVD but I know his biting Caroline was halfway through S4. As was Carol's murder. Very redemptive.
ReplyDeleteYes, and if the writers chose to make that Regina's "redemptive love story", fans would go ballistic. When the man is the abusive one, however, the reaction is "OMG so romantic!".
ReplyDeleteIt's one thing for someone to have committed sins they need to atone for, it's another to ask me to root for a relationship that was abusive at least in the past.
ReplyDeleteThis comment is forced, i dont get it if you dont ship it why comment on anything, geez! common sense!!! and thats goes for anyone really. If u dont see a couple u ship no point commenting isnt it!
ReplyDeleteWell dont enjoy it or like it but stop bashing constantly over it!!!
ReplyDeleteThat was the whole point of revenge lol, he was ont he bloody mission so obviously he was going to try and get it, in anyway he could. Hook realised this when he failed to kill Rumpel when he saw Rumpel alive, he realised he didnt feel happy or satisfied just empty even when he trhought he had killed Rumpel. hence the speech to Regina that revenge is an end not a beginning, thats when he started have a realistion and then in the finale he chose to fianlly come back and be part of something and he chose that over revenge and finally letting that go. Jeez if yiur not going to see character development so dont go on about ti constantly. Or even why u watching this show as it about character development.
I am not a hardcore shipper usually (there are exceptions). Most of the times I have preferences when there are triangles and there are some relationships that I really enjoy but usually not break it or break it. Some of my absolute favorites from 2013 would be Harvey and Donna (Suits), Fitz and Olivia (Scandal), Will and Alitia (The Good Wife), George and Dallas (Suburgatory), Philip and Elizabeth (The Americans), Carrie and Brody (Homeland) and Don and Sloan (The Newsroom). There are others which I really like such as the more established ones (ex. Phil and Claire from Modern Family), but I think these were the main ones.
ReplyDeleteEverything is Klaroline and nothing hurts :))
ReplyDeleteHi @Mari, well said. That's exactly how I feel. Thanks for reading :)
ReplyDeleteHi @Alex Forrest, thanks for reading and sharing your opinions in the comments. Of course, as I mentioned in the opening lines of my article, this list is just a fun compilation of my personal favorite relationships. Anyone is more than welcome to disagree with me, and I completely understand that. We are all entitled to our own perspectives and ideas about these pairings. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading and commenting, @Samantha Petrelli! Sounds like we have some cool ships in common :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting discussion about Hook and the way romances are set up on Once Upon a Time! I agree that the Eric/Ariel meet-cute was mega-rushed, even for a show that usually tends to make the love happen very quickly.
ReplyDeleteI agree completely, @L3nn13. Well said indeed. Thanks for reading :)
ReplyDeleteCool, @thedane5 - thanks for adding some other pairings to the list!
ReplyDeleteThank you, @Heather! You are right about True Love's Kiss - that makes total sense. :) Captain Swan rules.
ReplyDeleteHi @Bellerina, thanks for sharing your ideas in the comments. I'm still learning the ship names for some of these newer pairings; "Hayijah" is awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, @rec, I do am a diehard Rumbelle shipper! Thanks for reading :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, @Juliet. I'm happy to agree to disagree, while agreeing on how much fun Reign is to watch. Thanks for reading and commenting :)
ReplyDelete@winafred burkle, awesome name! I really liked Shado and was sad to see her go. I shipped Shado/Slade, and looking at it from either emotional perspective, her death scene was utterly heart-breaking.
ReplyDelete@Geneva, Oliver/Sara is interesting for sure. Theirs is a fascinating relationship whether or not one ships it. Cool comment; thanks for reading!
ReplyDeleteWord, @AMGR84! Thanks for reading. :)
ReplyDeleteWe are in agreement, @broski. Thanks for commenting!
ReplyDeleteI did think Charlie/Monroe in episode 2 this season, but it seems very far-fetched.
ReplyDeleteHey guys, I totally get why Hayley is a controversial character and hence the Hayley/Elijah ship is too. While she did some terrible things on TVD, and I'm not excusing that at all, she was very misguided and Shane manipulated her. I always remember that she had no real parental guidance and was a lost soul. Part of the main idea behind The Originals is whether one can be redeemed through the bonds of family. As messed up as this family is, and as strange as it is that Hayley and Elijah are in this situation, all of which is part and parcel of the kinds of connections we find between characters in a show that often focuses on somewhat twisted scenarios, having this child and loving / being loved by someone as good as Elijah (I know that Elijah's inherent goodness may also be debated) is part of what may guide Hayley to personal redemption. I also think she wasn't a particularly nuanced or highly developed character on TVD (she was basically a plot device), and she's much more complex on TO. However, I can agree with those who have said her past misdeeds cannot simply be ignored. It's definitely crazy and complicated! Thank you for reading the article and commenting. :)
ReplyDeleteHey, @Babs and @AndreaLuna27, Jisbon FTW! Thanks for reading. :)
ReplyDeleteNice, @maria zhekova! Thanks for reading and commenting :)
ReplyDeleteCharlie and Bass (Revolution) I totally love them!
ReplyDeleteOh look someone else who thinks they know what Stockholm Syndrome is. You do realize it's not a legit psychological condition right? It's not even in the DSM-IV. Also, with Stockholm Syndrome the victim begins to act like their captors, which Belle does NOT do. She stands her ground and even argues with him, in which he backs down. Do some research instead of spouting off BS that you know nothing about. BatB and SS have been refuted before. BatB is a very feminist story, if you actually bothered to research outside of Wikipedia, you would know that.
ReplyDeleteI do like this list, but no queer ships? Makes me a bit sad honestly :|
ReplyDeleteI never really felt that Shane manipulated Hayley in the same way he did Bonnie (who didn't understand what expression was and couldn't see that Shane was using her). Hayley knew the deal - he wanted her to hand over 12 unsired hybrids so Klaus could kill them (pretty straightforward). I don't really have a problem with the fact that she had them killed (Damon killed 12 random people in 1942 so a witch could use expression) - everyone on this show is a murderer. What I have a problem with is the way Elijah acts like Hayley is just some innocent victim who can do no wrong. If the writing addressed that her character was selfish and manipulative (the way it was done with Katherine) it could be fine. So it's not so much Hayley's character I have a problem with - it's that I just can't figure out why Elijah is so into her out of nowhere (they're practically strangers) and the fact that she's pregnant by Klaus. Elijah & Klaus should have made some sort of pact not to share women centuries ago - and I feel like Julie is trying to recreate TVD and have a girl come between two brothers instead of doing what would be more organic for their characters.
ReplyDeleteInteresting points, @Sara ! I do see the attraction between Hayley and Elijah and don't necessarily think there's any real chance for romance between Hayley and Klaus (or ever was), so I'm not sure about a love triangle. However, I agree; I hope they don't go there.
ReplyDeleteHi @Walker, that's just happenstance as I picked the first 25 ships that caught my fancy this year. I did, however, include Emily/Paige in the honorable mentions, and I would have included Patrick/Nolan from Revenge except that I don't trust Patrick and I'm worried Nolan's going to get hurt by him. Also, I'm catching up on Teen Wolf, and literally last night I started to get the whole Derek/Stiles thing. Pretty cool. Which were your favorite pairings from 2013? Thanks for reading the article. :)
ReplyDeleteYes!!! Bash and Mary all the way! <3
ReplyDeleteExcept for the part where I'm talking about OUaT, not the classic BatB story. On OUaT, I saw Belle falling for someone who initially kept her in a dungeon and who would abusively use magic against her as in the Robin Hood story. But no, there's nothing disturbing or unhealthy about that. Nope.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, I missed the memo that qualified you to judge other people's understanding of Stockholm Syndrome. Silly me. I'm sure one-track-mind shippers who bend over backwards to defend their ships are top experts in that area.
I ship neither, but I have to say Captain Swan's chemistry is as strong as Swan Queen's, in my opinion. JM and CD set the screen on fire with that first kiss.
ReplyDeleteNow, Swan Thief is just dull and lacks any kind of spark.
Even though she wasn't really developed, I thought Shado had the best *romantic* chemistry with Oliver. Sad that she's gone. Oliver and Sara are great together and every scene between them has been beautiful, but I don't feel it in the romantic sense. Maybe there's just too much emotional baggage for him to get with either of the Lance sisters (although god knows Sara would be better than the alternative...).
ReplyDeletePersonally my favourite's this year have been:
ReplyDeleteMaggie/Glenn (The Walking Dead)
River/Doctor (Doctor Who)
Emma/Regina (Once Upon A Time)
Castle/Beckett (Castle)
Dean/Castiel (Supernatural)
Oliver/Felicity (Arrow)
Ichabod/Abbie (Sleepy Hollow)
Graham/Alana (Hannibal)
I do like to see how other people look towards other ships and see their point of view on them. But ship wars are kinda pathetic. But I don't mind your list :) You have a very good taste in shows imo
I don't think it matters that Klaus isn't that into her. He already slept with her and she's pregnant by him. Klaus is pretty possessive and territorial and I can't imagine that he'd be cool with his brother hooking up with the mother of his child. He's already paranoid that Hayley is planning on raising the baby with Elijah (and not him) as it is. The bottom line is she is coming between Klaus & Elijah because they were working together until Hayley told Elijah that Klaus was plotting to use the baby to make more hybrids (which wasn't even true).
ReplyDeleteThanks for adding your fave ships, @Dannii. I completely agree with you: I love talking about shipping and hearing what couples other people ship, and ship wars are no fun. I can respect pretty much any ship that makes fans happy. :)
ReplyDeleteToo bad if you actually payed attention she didn't fall in love with him from the beginning. After he spared Robin Hood and gave her the library(which actually has a bed in it) he started doing things like giving her the rose and even letting her go. Yes he did bad things at first, but people change, and before then she didn't put up with those things.
ReplyDeleteAlso, sorry the person before hand was telling you actually useful information, unless you'd rather be ignorant on the condition. Rumbelle and BatB aren't SS.
Hum, I'm such a weirdo when it comes to ships. I ship Olicity harder than I did Chuck/Blair and those were my beautiful babies.
ReplyDeleteOlicity=Obsessed!
Wade/Zoe=Love
Danny/Mindy=Love
Delena=Love (I Adore Damon, Elena I have my moments with)
Jack/Emily(on the fence at the moment) - Still pissed at Jack over Faux Amanda
Emma/Neal/Hook - I go back and forth -Hook is winning at the moment.
Abbie/Ichabod=I like them
Skye/Ward=I want them
Regina/Robin Hood=I want them
And I like Joan/Arthur.
i was totally against jack/emily from beginning but i want them to happen now that circumstances have changed! im more hayley/klaus due to chemistry & parallels between them both = perfect and swanqueen + skyeward but i love zade, mabastian, charloe, delena, olicity, olex, steferine, vincat and fitzsimmons!
ReplyDeleteWe're going to have to agree to disagree about the kidnapping. I know Rumpel didn't put a gun to her head, but in my opinion, she didn't have a choice in the true sense when the alternative was to let the ogres destroy her father's kingdom - she and her family were in danger. She had to go with Rumpel so he'd protect everyone.
ReplyDeleteI should also clarify something, I'm not claiming that Rumpel was abusive or controlling after he and Belle reunited in Storybrooke. From that point on, he mostly treated Belle with respect. What I feel completely sours this storyline and relationship is how she was treated by him back in the Enchanted Forest. The fact that she used to come back to him is no more a "choice" to me than a woman choosing prostitution as a lifestyle. She's trapped in a vicious circle and it seems to her like the right to do. That she experiences it as romantic feelings for him doesn't change that, in my opinion (again, I'm talking about the EF, not Storybrooke in Season 2 - at which point she had friends, was part of a community and truly had the option to walk away).
I'm going to make one last point and leave it at that. People claim this is a redemptive love story. But while falling in love may be the catalyst for one changing their ways, it is worthless if they ultimately only change to be who their partner wants them to be. It proves that they're still the same person and the "change" is an act. In "Lacey", once Rumpel believes that hearing about his habit of violence and threats has pushed Belle away from him, he goes back to doing exactly that. And when Belle sees him beating that man in the alley and rejoices in it, instead of being repulsed, Rumpel happily continues. So this whole "redemptive love" is BS from where I'm standing. It only counts for something if Rumpel remains a better man even in the event of losing Belle for good. Now, his sacrificing himself to rid the world of Pan is a big step in the right direction, obviously, but there was a lot to make me doubt the truthfulness of his supposed redemption before that.
You're welcome, and I'd like to say I'm sorry if my words were harsh. I tend to get passionate about this specific topic - relationships on TV being written in a way that denigrates women, in my opinion - because I find it disturbing, but I don't have anything against viewers that perceive it differently, and should have clarified this wasn't personal in any way.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate that, @Alex Forrest :)
ReplyDeleteShe clearly fell in love with him as early as "Skin Deep", despite the things he did to her. And FYI, most of the characteristics of SS, such as an extreme power imbalance in the relationship and the survival/well being of the prisoner being entirely in the hands of their captor, can certainly be considered to have occurred in the early stages of Rumbelle. I'm sorry, but when someone shoves you into your "room", says he calls it that because it sounds nicer than "dungeon", and then locks you in, you're a prisoner. There isn't really any way around that. Just because someone dislikes your ship, doesn't mean they're ignorant of what SS is or "spouting BS" as the previous commentator claimed.
ReplyDeleteBelle was a prisoner who fell for the person imprisoning her, and given his magical powers, was entirely powerless and dependent on him in that stage of the relationship (I'm not talking about Storybrooke). These are facts, not something that can be debated. Now, you find that excusable because of future developments in the dynamic of Rumpel's character, I don't. That's fine, but don't accuse people of ignorance because they dare criticize your favorite relationship.
Why is Tiva not on the list?! They have a chemistry more solid than the oldest show ship you can find. If you could just go and look up some of that season 9/10 or 8 or 7 or 6 Tiva stuff you'd understand what I mean. To be realistic seeing as Cote de Pablo's left Tony and Ziva probably never will get together ever again, but they definitely deserved to be on the list. D:
ReplyDeleteYey for Jisbon on 2. I cant wait to see how this will develop this year - hopefully the writers also think that it's time to get those two together, we've waited sooo long! They are by far my fav. ship.
ReplyDeleteAlso like Miles/Rachel a lot and I am looking foward to seeing how Miles' love declaration in the last epi effects their relationship...
Thanks for the list. Your no 1 made me watch revoltuion. Although I watched S1 in fast forward I really enjoy S2. Hope to see more Charlie though, I've had the expression everybody is gaining depth except her. Hope this will change in the next episodes.
ReplyDeleteI am such a Charloe shipper. Absolutely LOVE this couple, and I was so excited to read that episode 13 will feature Bass, Connor and Charlie going on a dangerous mission together. I just hope they don't try and pair Charlie and Connor. That might pretty much kill any Charloe hopes. Weird how the age thing (though I think it's ridiculous...the fuss being made over a 20-something falling for a guy in his early 40's...especially in light of all the fawning over a hundred-year-old vampire marrying a high school girl) and the sociopath thing wouldn't deter fans, but having Charlie hop from son to dad might be the kiss of death for this ship. I know I'd be totally creeped out by it.
ReplyDeleteOh, I LOVE shipper lists! Thanks!! :) I agree with quite a few on your list...tho my order would be different.
ReplyDeletePlease, please let Zade happen soon!! I need to see that fabulous chemistry on my screen again! :) And how did I miss a kiss between Emily and Jack?!?! Oh NO! I must have missed an ep! Gotta go back to the beginning of the season now and rewatch!! :)
I’m loving Stefan and Katherine together and am still rooting for Klaus and Caroline, tho my fav on the show is Delena. They are amazing together!! On the Originals front, I’m with you on Elijah and Haley, may the ship leave the port.... ;)
Booth and Brennen would have made it on my list, glad they were on your honourable mentions. :) Booth stole my heart the first 6 seasons with his love eyes and I never fully got it back. lol Even tho we don’t see those looks anymore (much) together they melt my heart!! :)
I also would have included Casey and Dawson “Dawsey” from Chicago Fire and one of my all time favourites “McSwarek” from Rookie Blue. Sam and Andy have a rare magical on screen chemistry comparable to VinCat and Delena IMO. Sam Swarek...*swoon*
I’m SO glad your a VinCat fan!! :) I love seeing them on your list!! They are my absolute, without a doubt FAVOURITE!! Their chemistry on screen is amazing! I’m so hooked on this show and them!! I hope, hope ratings go up so their story can continue!!
My only disagreement would be Oliver and Felicity. I love them both and I love the show but I don’t care for her being a love interest for him. I was super excited when they brought her in as a series regular but was disappointed when she became a love interest for him. As murky as the waters look I’m still on the Oliver and Laurel ship.
The rest I don’t watch but have caught my interest. Maybe I’ll check them out. THANKS!! :)
DANNY AND LACEY -FROM ABC FAMILY'S TWISTED ARE INCREDIBLE!!!^.^ SOOO BEAUTIFUL<3<3<3
ReplyDeleteMy favourites are Delena, Klaroline, Haylijah, Icabbie, Olicity, Captain Swan and Fitzsimmons :D
ReplyDeleteI also like Holmes and Watson in Elementary
I am 100% a fan of the Doctor being in love with his companion. My favourite was Ten and Rose <3 The reference, however brief, in the 50th was fab!
In terms of ships not included on this list, I LOVE Allisaac (Allison and Isaac) in Teen Wolf
I have a sneaking suspicion that I've forgotten to mention some of my ships - there's too many to remember!!
I loved Spencer and Wren too. I even shipped Hanna and Wren….I think I just ship Wren in general!
ReplyDeleteLol loved this article too! Omg you are so right ... We are crazy (look at me googling #charloe at this hour) but sure enough this is what fuels the fire for all of us who are loyal to our shows.
ReplyDeleteLast hard ship I was on was for Lee and Kara in the 2000s revamped Battlestar Galactica. I know it is silly to overlook the age difference but really come on... Charlie is now 22 years old... How many 40 year old men do you know that'd turn down a girl of that age if she happened to be interested? Then I can vouch from experience and information of how many women in their 20s that I know who would never disqualify an eligible and handsome 40 year old (David Lyons is only 37/38 IRL). Especially if you're n Charlie's situation - sticking with the best sword wielding professional bad boys is always a smart move so... Thank you for this.
Well said, I feel exactly the same way about it!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's Rumbelle, not Rumpbelle...
ReplyDeleteI'd have to strongly disagree about Mary/Bash. That pairing had no build up and no dialogue except for like maybe 3 decent conversations. Plus, I just don't see any chemistry with them. Torrance is a lot older than Ade. So to me, he seems more like an older brother in their scenes. In contrast, Francis/Mary have had amazing build up since the pilot episode. Not to mention that they were friends since childhood. In my opinion, the chemistry between Francis and Mary is simply on fire. And historically, Francis and Mary were truly in love. It would be nice if the show continued to honor their legacy. So we'll agree to disagree, I guess!!!
ReplyDeleteWow...never found another being on the good ol' Internet who's Ships match up 100% with mine (for the shows that we have in common that is!)
ReplyDeleteMy favourites, in no particular order:
Delena (Damon/Elena) - The Vampire Diaries
