NOTE: Be advised that English is not my first language.
"What's Jane's type?" this looks like the question in everyone's mind during the episode. I admit "White Lines" was not as good as the previous ones, but it still was enjoyable. The Mentalist 2.0 started in a good way. Here's some things to say:
Jane's date. Most of us all know Jane had a plan from the beginning when he met Krystal. No doubt she's a beautiful woman and Jane has good tastes, but maybe I found it was too easy to ask her out on a date, unless he was up to something. Still I think Krystal absolutely isn't Jane's type, but I do think he's in a way too attracted to criminals - just think about Erica Flynn and Lorelei Martins. Fisher was smart to understand Krystal was not the kind of woman Jane would have dated. Even though he seemed so interested in her. At some point, I really doubted Jane had completely lost his mind with her, and I was wondering if Lisbon would have find out who she really was first. That would have been amazing! I liked the part of the date in which Jane says to Krystal that everyone at some point should move on with his\her own life. In my opinion, the moment when Jane killed Red John, he felt ready to move on and change his life. He's ready, but he's just too blind to realize that.
Lisbon and Fisher. Do you think it's a little bit rash to say I like their interaction? Lisbon seems to share more empathy with Fisher than with Van Pelt. Maybe because they're almost peers? Anyway, if those two keep having this kind of professional relationship, I think they will also find time to have some girl-talk. The bar scene was absolutely funny. When Lisbon came, she was surprised to see Fisher too, so they share the same table till two guys offered them some drinks - but they stepped back when the girls said they are cops! Then, Fisher hands her the badge. Yes, Lisbon is officially a FBI agent. Yes, finally Lisbon is doing something for herself without depending on Jane. Another interesting interation was when Jane interrupts their investigation and asks for 'clothes' advices for his first date. Lisbon chooses one shirt, Fisher the other one. Inevitably, Jane picks Lisbon's choice. Fisher still can't believe Jane's going to a date with Krystal, then asks Lisbon what's his type. Lisbon replies she doesn't know, but just the second after, she turns her head... maybe she's avoiding her? Fisher looks suspicious, as if she's already known everthing. That makes perfect sense, since in the previous episode she asked Lisbon if she and Jane have ever been involved.
Jane and Lisbon. Not much interaction between those two, but however, there's something to say. I haven't noticed Lisbon's jealousy when Jane asks advices for his date. Lisbon knows Jane is playing because he always does that. She's always his number one partner, the only one he chooses to trust when he's in danger on Krystal's boat. A little note: Jane's wearing the socks Lisbon's given to him.
Jane and Fisher. I have to say: Jane knows how to control people and his superiors. We noticed that with Abbott and we're noticing this with Fisher. He asked her a couch, "Something I can snuggle in". Fisher wanted to stay strict and play the bad guy, but she eventually agreed to give him what he wanted.
Honorable mention: Cho and Wiley. How much I love this blonde nerdy guy? It seems like he took (I know, it sounds awful and sad to say) perfectly Van Pelt and Rigsby's place. He's the pairing for Cho and it's even good at computers. What else? Hoping for more space.
In conclusion, it was a good episode that showed some new bonds, friendship and changes for some characters. Probably what people didn't like was the lack of Jane and Lisbon's scenes together. Let me say one last thing: it's not the end of the world. Don't forget next episode we'll find a new side of J\L's relationship, and then it's just a growing path for their future.

Its hard to say who is really Jane's type but I think that Lisbon hopes ... judging from her facial expression.
ReplyDeleteFisher is okay but kind of boring, so I think that they will not really bond. But the question is if Lisbon is looking for a female friend because Jane decides to go on dates in the near future more often?
Oh ... I enjoy Mentalist 2.0 but Janes new shirts are just disgusting ;)
At the beginning I thought Fisher was annoying but just because I didn't know much about her. Now I can start write down a profile and I really like her :) I think Lisbon is just trying to enjoy her life again after the CBI, that means going out, stay with girls, and try to figure it out what it means to be without Jane.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting :)
I don't think Crystal was Jane's type. He knew she was involved in the crime and was playing her. I'm glad he got his couch. Kim and Lisbon seem to be almost bonding. I'm enjoying The Mentalist 2.0 and I'm excited to see more episodes.
ReplyDeletepredictible and boring episode... dont like Kim being a main character. Miss PJ tricks, minds games, and still missing cho and the rest of the cast camaraderie and comic relief
