I never even HEARD of this show until the *day it premiered*, considering there's about four to five (six if you count Ellen) shows on ABC that I DVR and I watch 95% of the commercials due to being lazy or forgetting to fast forward through the breaks, and didn't see a single ad for it. So, big surprise that it totally bombed.
But wasn't this billed as a miniseries? Is it really *that* unprofitable for them to at least air it a couple more weeks? Hm. Glad I didn't watch it or care.
The showss official page on ABC's website says it's an eight-part miniseries: http://www.abcmedianet.com/web/showpage/showpage.aspx?program_id=003764&type=lead
After Googling some more, it appears people are calling it both. But, just to let you know, one of the websites I found had copied that same press release that is on the ABC website, but in that earlier press release, it said "limited-series". They must've changed it to miniseries at some point.
You are earlier even the one we posted earlier from the ABC site lists it as "limited series": http://www.spoilertv.com/2013/11/the-assets-abc-official-press-release.html
I think miniseries exist mostly on Discovery Channel, for stories they want to cover that they have to split parts. Maybe also National Geographic Channel.
In the case of Under the Dome, I think they describe that more as an "event" series (yay, more confusion!), because it acts like a regular season, but airs in a limited time schedule. It fulfills its schedule just like a regular broadcast season would, so I don't think CBS likes calling that a limited series either because that would imply it's even shorter than summer shows. Oh, the confusion...
I am surprised they actually did this considering they only had to endure it for 6 more weeks but I guess the bad publicity of those numbers was just too much. This is probably one of the very few times in which I feel badish for Paul Lee because I think the idea of bridging the serialized shows with reality and low priority stuff is a good one.
I'm not surprised, but really disappointed. I didn't realize it had started, so I watched it for the first time last week. I loved it! Wish I could see the rest of it. Guess there wasn't enough action for most people. They really should've advertised it better.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

Didn't the show had only 2 episodes aired?! wow
ReplyDeletePractically no one was watching it, and the promo they released for it actually convinced me to ignore it entirely.
ReplyDeleteDisappointed because my sister (a history major) and I actually found it pretty interesting. And we just got to see Mickey this week!
ReplyDeleteWell no need to watch this one.
ReplyDeleteGoes to DVR list to delete...
This is the third show third show this season to be cancelled after two episodes, Lucky 7 and We Arre Men being the other two.
ReplyDeletelearn ur lession, stop the stupid 8 part series, if we wanted that we will go watch them UK shows that are only 6-8 episode long a season.
ReplyDeleteand stop with recent history stuff, If I can remember what life was kinda like during that period I don't want to know more about it.
And expect Killer Women to be the fourth.
ReplyDeleteBilled as limited series, not mini-series, I'm afraid. 8 episodes were produced for this season, I believe.
ReplyDeleteLimited series*, but yes, I agree with you!
ReplyDeleteNo, it's a miniseries.

ReplyDeleteHahaha yeah! I knew I had gotten "limited series" from somewhere :P
ReplyDeleteSo we can assume there are no minisseries on the american television.
ReplyDeleteUnder the Dome case and this one, despite their opposite fastes, have proved that.
this has to be a record lol

And ABC's bad season is getting worse.
ReplyDeleteABC could spare time when they just burn the money or throw it out of window.

ReplyDeleteThey have too, I think it's getting out of control how bad it is going for them.
ReplyDeletethe funny part is he is casted in two episodes and the show was cancelled after two episodes lol
ReplyDeletefunny thing is they made a an ass out of them by cancelling a show that only had 8 episodes and they the ones who ordered it lol
