January 29, 2014 (Burbank, CA) – Last night's Supernatural was the series' most watched episode (2.76 million) in three and a half years, since 10/15/2010, according to national Live plus Same Day Nielsen ratings for Tuesday, January 28, 2014.

With Supernatural as counterprogramming to coverage of the State of the Union address elsewhere (9-10 p.m. ET), it matched its season highs in adults 18-34 (1.1/3), and adults 18-49 (1.2/3), and had its best rating among teens 12-17 since 2/5/09, and matched its third-highest rating ever on The CW among female teens (2.0/6).

Week to week, Supernatural rose 22% in adults 18-34, 18% in women 18-34 (1.3/4), and 9% in adults 18-49.

THE ORIGINALS was up 16% week to week in women 18-34 (1.4/4) and was steady week to week in adults 18-34 (0.9/3).

For the night, The CW was up 11% week to week in adults 18-34 (1.0/3), up 27% in women 18-34 (1.4/4), and steady in adults 18-49 (1.1/3).

  1. This is amazing! I'm so happy for the show. And I'm hoping this means that Originals and SPN will stay in the same timeslot next season since it's working so well.

  3. All i can say is that supernatural is one hell of a lucky CW show, because to be honest, this episode was not even that great compared to say, last week's. But since it is my number 2 favorite cw show, second only to Reign, I am proud of it :).

  4. The fandom should be proud!

  5. People who normally DVR it watched it live since there was little to no competition?

  9. It would be cool if Supernatural was moved up to 8pm to be a lead-in to a new show next season, but I don't think it'll happen because it might be too dark for 8pm.

  10. I was gonna say ... I thought that was on last night. I pay no attention to Obama. Or Bush. Or any of them.

  11. why would they waste two of their best ratings performing shows by pairing them together, surely splitting them up to help two nights instead is the smart thing to do. One of them is going to Monday.

  12. True, but I think they'll pair Supernatural with its spin-off, Supernatural:Tribes

  13. Ha, people kept watching thinking it HAD to get better. I will watch SPN no matter when it is on, the boys are part of my family. ;)

  14. Actually Originals ratings are slipping.

  15. I can only speak for me, but I tuned in because they finally got my attention back with last weeks ep "First Born" and I was hoping that quality would continue. Silly me. Plus, there was nothing else on, so it got it's good rating by default.

  16. My thoughts exactly

  17. Maybe, but was the same thing many folks thought automatically about The Originals. I think a possible scenario with be SPN moves to Monday (sighs - it was doing so well with Arrow and now TO) and paired with a new should be 'self starter' like The Flash.

  18. Well I'm a Democrat (Progressive), but I didn't watch the SOTU address. I never watch those addresses.
