Scene Of The Week - January 19, 2014 - POLL

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great scenes that we've seen recently.

ALMOST HUMAN, "You Are Here", January 13, 2014, Actors: Karl Urban, Minka Kelly
The Scene: Kennex and Stahl talk at the end
Jimmy Ryan:
This show grows on me every week. My favorite scene was right at the end of this week's episode, when Detective Kennex used a pen to write what was presumably his number on a piece of paper, then handing it to Detective Stahl. I thought it was a wonderfully written and romantic scene that provides a fascinating insight into how the things we take for granted now, could change in the future.
Also picked by Virginia Fontana

AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN, "Protect the Coven", January 15, 2014, Actors: Danny Huston and more, The Scene: The Axeman kills the witches
DarkUFO:
The meeting between the witches and the witches destroyers and the Axeman killing them all with his ... Axe. Very brutal scene. Also picked by Sharon Seymour

ARROW, "Blast Radius", January 15, 2014, Actors: Stephen Amell, Emily Bett Rickards
The Scenes: Felicity and Oliver argue & Oliver apologizes to Felicity
Virginia Fontana:
Felicity and Oliver's argument, especially when he told her to get her mind out of Central City. Ouch! His conflicted anger, jealousy, repressed feelings for Felicity, and lashing out were palpably painful for both of them. A beautifully acted scene that further showed why their relationship is one of the show's most compelling aspects.
Jamie Coudeville: Oliver's apology to Felicity - His entire speech was great. I loved this scene, from him calling her his partner to him being able to calm her down by placing his hand on her shoulder.

BANSHEE, "The Thunder Man", January 17, 2014, Actors: Ulrich Thomsen, Lili Simmons and more, The Scene: Kai delivers a bloodbath of animal parts into Alex's pool & Nora rescues and kidnaps Rebecca
Sharon Seymour:
Nola rescues Rebecca from being attacked but then kidnaps her!
DarkUFO: Kai Proctor delivers a blood bath of animal parts into Alex Longshadow's outdoor pool whilst he is in it with his wife.

BONES, "Big in the Philippines", January 17, 2014, Actors: Michael Grant Terry and more
The Scene: Wendell stops by Booth and Brennan's house

Klutzy Girl: Wendell stops by Booth and Brennan's house to tell them that he's not going down without a fight. I'm so happy he didn't just give up. And I love that Brennan hugged him before he left. It's nice that she's so worried about him.

CRIMINAL MINDS, "The Black Queen", January 15, 2014, Actors: Kirsten Vangsness and more
The Scene: Garcia meets Hotchner and Morgan for the first time
Romain Ossust:
Garcia's first meeting with Hotchner and Morgan. She was so different back then, they mentioned she was a hacker before but they never showed it. I'm glad they did this week.

GIRLS, "Truth or Dare", January 12, 2014, Actors: Lena Dunham and more
The Scene: Hannah meets up with Adam's ex girlfriend (picked by Romain Ossust)

HART OF DIXIE, "Something to Talk About", January 13, 2014, Actors: Rachel Bilson, Wilson Bethel
The Scene: Wade asks Zoe how long she's going to punish him
Tracie Pontolillo:
Wade asks Zoe how long she is going to punish him for having hurt her. This was the first truly emotional scene between them in the season. It is hands down the best scene of this season. Wade and Zoe have so much hurt between them on both sides, and they only scratched the surface. This was a step in the right direction toward healing for both.

JUSTIFIED, "The Kids Aren't All Right", January 14, 2014, Actors: Timothy Olyphant, Mickey Jones
The Scene: Raylan meets up with "Hot Rod" Dunham
Geo N:
When Raylan meets up with "Hot Rod" Dunham after handcuffing Dunham's two drug enforcers, Jay and Roscoe. Dunham says to Raylan "don't think I won't kill you just because I knew your daddy" to which Raylan says something along the lines of "I graduated CleanCo(?) from the FBI and learned to be a dead-shot, I can take out 4 of your guys before you draw your weapons and I'll take my chances with those two". The whole scene was awesome and a perfect example of why Raylan is one of the best characters on TV right now.

MARVEL'S AGENTS OF SHIELD, "Seeds", January 14, 2014, Actors: Clark Gregg, Chloe Bennet and more
The Scene: Coulson and May talk about Skye at the end
Justyna Kubica:
I have to admit I wasn't quite sure how I feel about Skye's character at the beginning, but in the last few episodes she started winning me over and it looks like it worked. Skye's attempts to find out the truth about her origins made her discover something truly heartbreaking this week. Coulson shared with her the story about the entire SHIELD team protecting her as a baby and dying to save her life. The news like that can shatter a person, but it didn't break Skye. Instead, like Coulson tells May in the scene at the end of the episode, it made her realize that she wasn't unwanted like she always suspected, from the beginning, SHIELD was her family, a place where she really belonged. For the first time in her life, Skye finds her home and visits The Wall of Valor to honor those who died in her name. And thanks to her reaction a piece of Coulson's faith in humanity is repaired. "The world is full of evil and lies and pain and death, and you can't hide from it... you can only face it. The question is, when you do, how do you respond? Who do you become?" I absolutely loved the meaning of the scene, the actors' performances, characters' development and dialogue here. I have to say, I really enjoy the show and it feels like it gets even better each week. Kudos! And I absolutely can't wait for next episode.

MELISSA AND JOEY, "A Decent Proposal", January 15, 2014, Actors: Melissa Joan Hart, Joey Lawrence
The Scene: Mel tells Joe she loves him
Klutzy Girl:
Mel finally stops living in denial and fear, and tells Joe she loves him. It was a sweet scene that made me squeal, and something that's been a long time coming. Can't wait to see what's next!

NCIS, "Double Back", January 14, 2014, Actors: Mark Harmon, Sean Murray
The Scene: Gibbs sits with McGee
Daniel van der Veer:
Throughout the entire episode, McGee was unwilling to tell his team members the truth about Delilah being paralyzed. When Gibbs learns the truth from Cranston, McGee still insists he has to do this on his own. But then at the very end, he admits that he can't do it alone. Although the words "You are not alone" were never spoken, Gibbs being there for Tim means exactly that.
Kind of reminded me of last year's episode.

PERSON OF INTEREST, "4C", January 14, 2014, Actors: Jim Caviezel, Boris McGiver and more, The Scenes: Reese and Finch talk at the end & Shaw and Hersh talk at the coffee shop & Reese asks for a drink
Jimmy Ryan:
So many classic POI scenes in this week's episode. I loved the scene between Shaw and Hersh at the coffee shop. I think this scene features Boris McGiver's best piece of acting in the series to date. He did an excellent job portraying someone slowly being overcome by drugs, as his speech became more slurred and his posture changed. The dialog between Shaw and Hersh was also fascinating, with Hersh asking about his former student's wellbeing with a genuine heart, but Shaw was having none of it. He knows he trained her well, but he has finally realized that she is better than him. It was a great moment between two arch-rivals.
DarkUFO: Reese and Finch chatting about him getting a new suit and walking off together.
Sharon Seymour: When Reese initially turns down a complimentary drink in First Class but then asks for one after seeing annoying child and annoying business man on the same flight with him.

SHERLOCK, "His Last Vow", January 12, 2014, Actors: Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and more
The Scene: "Did you miss me?" montage
Justyna Kubica:
What a brilliant way to end such a great season! Unlike the first two, quite lovely and optimistic episodes, I expected this one to be heartbreaking and powerful. I'm really glad this time the story didn't end with a tragedy, although I can't call Sherlock and Watson saying goodbye a nice and cheerful ending. I truly enjoyed seeing characters' development this season, especially Holmes' which I didn't see coming, at least not in this way. His actions pretty much confirmed that to save his best friend, to keep a promise he made to protect him and his family, he's willing to do absolutely anything. But there are always consequences to our actions and Sherlock wasn't getting away with his choices. Except... something suddenly happened that changed everything. I have no idea whether Moriarty's return is just a trick (to keep Sherlock in the country maybe?) or a real thing, but I was so happy when he showed up on the screen. I really did miss him, more than I expected, especially after spending an episode with Charles Augustus Magnussen who I couldn't stand (that's how brilliant the actor's performance was!). I loved everyone's reaction to the news and the fact that it meant Sherlock could come back. "There's an East Wind coming." Also, bonus points for one of my favorite exchanges on the show: "Hello, little brother. How's the exile going? I've only been gone four minutes. Well, I certainly hope you've learnt your lesson." Hopefully this time the break won't be so long, because I'm very excited to see what's gonna happen next.

SLEEPY HOLLOW, "The Vessel", January 13, 2014, Actors: Tom Mison, Nicole Beharie
The Scene: Ichabod wears modern clothes
Romain Ossust:
That was fun!

SUPERNATURAL, "Road Trip", January 14, 2014, Actors: Jared Padalecki, Mark Sheppard
The Scene: Crowley assures Sam that he didn't kill Kevin
Klutzy Girl:
Crowley assures Sam that he didn't kill Kevin - Gadreel did. The fact that it came from Crowley of all people probably goes a long way towards easing Sam's guilt over what happened, and I love that.

TEEN WOLF, "More Bad Than Good", January 13, 2014
The Scene: A mystery person unleashes something from the Nemeton
Jamie Coudeville:
It's probably not gonna be who I want it to be (Jennifer), but still that scene was so cool. I have a few theories as to what those shapes could be, can't wait to find out.

THE BLACKLIST, "The Good Samaritan (No. 106)", January 13, 2014, Actors: James Spader, Amir Arison
The Scene: Red tries to determine if Aram is the mole or not, Geo N:
The scene where Red tries to determine if Aram is the mole or not by having him transfer money from one account to another and make it untraceable. I love this scene because it shows both characters at what they are best at. Red is perfect at being ruthless and to the point and Aram is hilarious even when his life is in peril. Great Scene.

THE MENTALIST, "The Golden Hammer", January 12, 2014, Actors: Simon Baker, Robin Tunney
The Scene: Jane keeps asking Lisbon about her date
Virginia Fontana:
The scene when Jane kept asking Lisbon about her planned dinner date. It was awesome to finally see hints of jealousy from Jane, since usually it's the other way around. This was really cute and funny. Jisbon is so adorably smile-inducing this season.

THE ORIGINALS, "The Casket Girls", January 14, 2014, Actors: Danielle Campbell and more
The Scene: Tim dies
Jamie Coudeville:
Poor Timmy. Davina's cries broke my heart. Damn you, Klaus.
