Scene Of The Week - January 12, 2014 - POLL

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great scenes that we've seen recently.

AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN, "The Magical Delights of Stevie Nicks", January 8, 2014
The Scenes: Stevie Nicks sings and Fiona listens & Misty sees Stevie Nicks and passes out
Macie Potts:
The scene where Stevie Nicks sings "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You" and Fiona listens.
Klutzy Girl: Misty sees Stevie Nicks and passes out. I'm glad she got to meet someone she really loves!

BANSHEE, "Little Fish", January 10, 2014 Actors: Antony Starr and more, The Scene: The Armed Truck Robbery
Sandi Wich:
In an episode that had to deal with with some pretty static scenes due to the interviews/investigation from the end of last season's gunfight, this short collection of high speed stunts were a welcome distraction. After the tantalising glimpses of what they had planned for this robbery in previous episodes it was interesting to see how it all came together...and how it all unavoidably fell apart due to something the gang didn't see coming. Also picked by DarkUFO and Sharon Seymour

BONES, "The Ghost in the Killer", January 10, 2014, Actors: Emily Deschanel, Eugene Byrd
The Scene: Clark tells Bones about his break up
Shirleena Cunningham:
Clark says why he has more than enough time to work on the Ghost Killer case files. He explained that he broke up with his girlfriend, because they just couldn't make the next step together as a couple. This scene shows Clark and Brennan, two people who have such a hard time sharing their feelings with others. Yet being able to connect and talk on an equal level, unlike they haven't the past. Brennan even said Clark could call her Temperance, at least when they're alone...

CASTLE, "Under Fire", January 6, 2014, Actors: Seamus Dever, Juliana Dever and more, The Scenes: Ryan says goodbye to his wife & The ending scene
Justyna Kubica:
Ryan saying goodbye was probably the most heartbreaking scene I've seen on TV this week. Not because I expected it to be his last moments, but because the actors did a wonderful job, especially the star of the episode Seamus Dever, making it all feel real and very emotional. For a moment I actually put myself in the characters' position and it was such a powerful experience. And picking the name for the baby was a beautiful addition. Everyone standing in the background and listening to the conversation just made it all more painful, but also so memorable. I'm really glad we got a happy ending later, in a very lovely scene, because this phone call gave it all even bigger meaning. And something that was almost a heartbreaking tragedy ended up making the team's bond stronger than ever. Kudos to the cast & crew for their great work!
Klutzy girl: Ryan and Jenny say their goodbyes on the phone. It was a heartbreaking scene, especially when they were discussing baby names. Since the actors are married in real life, that had be a brutal scene.
Jamie Coudeville: Ryan says goodbye to Jenny - Omg, this scene broke my heart into a million pieces. For a minute there I thought the writers were actually going to kill one of them. I loved the focus on Ryan and Espo this week. Still recovering though. Also picked by Babar Suhail
Diana Mack: The team gathers around Jenny, who's just given birth to a beautiful child, Sarah Grace. Everyone is happy for the happy ending.

ELEMENTARY, "All in the Family", January 9, 2014, Actors: Jonny Lee Miller, Jon Michael Hill and more
The Scenes: Holmes and Bell argue in Sherlock's house & The opening scene
Virginia Fontana:
The scene at the brownstone when Holmes argues with Bell about the latter's insistence on no longer working as a homicide detective. I loved the intensity between these two and the way that this show, again, analyzed the bonds of friendship, as well as finding one's way back from an ordeal, in a profound way.
Robin Smyth: The opening scene with Joan and Sherlock in their formal wear. It was nice seeing them take other kinds of cases than we normally see.
A Dahne: Bell and Sherlock air their grievances in Sherlock's home - This is the second best speech of the week and it emphasized a key point of the show. Sherlock is a complete douche, but he is a douche with a point. When he made himself vulnerable to Bell by talking about his drug addiction, it humanized him once again - to Bell and the audience.

HAWAII FIVE 0, "O kela me keia Manama (Now and Then)", January 10, 2014, Actors: Grace Park and more
The Scene: Kono reunites with everyone
Klutzy Girl:
I missed her and am so glad she's back. It feels like everything will return to normal now. The reunion scene was sweet.

HELIX, "Pilot", January 10, 2014, Actors: Neil Napier, Kyra Zagorsky
The Scene: Peter confronts Julia in the shower and proceeds to kill her (picked by Darth Locke)

HOSTAGES, "Endgame", January 6, 2014, Actors: Dylan McDermott and more
The Scene: Duncan turns himself in (picked by Bradley Adams and Sharon Seymour)

INTELLIGENCE, "Pilot", January 7, 2014, Actors: Josh Holloway and more
The Scene: The end scene (picked by Bradley Adams)

JUSTIFIED, "A Murder of Crowes", January 7, 2014, Actors: Walton Goggins, Sam Anderson
The Scene: Boyd's attack on Paxton
Robin Smyth:
Boyd's attack on Paxton after Paxton insinuated he did not love Ava. It was perfectly acted, but I don't think it will end up being a good thing for Boyd to have done in the long hall.

PARKS AND RECREATION, "Second Chunce", January 9, 2014, Actors: Amy Poehler, Adam Scott and more
The Scene: Leslie makes her decision not to run again (picked by Macie Potts)

PERSON OF INTEREST, "Aletheia", January 7, 2014, Actors: Amy Acker, Camryn Manheim and more
The Scenes: Greer gets Samaritan & Root turns the tables on Control
Bradley Adams:
Greer gets Samaritan.
DarkUFO: Root turns the tables on Control in the Interrogation Cage.
Also picked by Virginia Fontana and Darth Locke

REVENGE, "Homecoming", January 5, 2014, Actors: Emily VanCamp, Christa B. Allen and more
The Scenes: Emily tells Charlotte her father is David Clarke & Jack visits Emily in the hospital
Pablozky21:
The return of Revenge came filled with energy and excitment; with Emily's memories temporarily lost there were a lot of crazy situations that I just loved. It's hard to pick just one, but if I had to, it would be the moment Emily tells Charlotte that she is David Clarke's daughther, which was a complete shocker, and even though Charlotte was assured by Jack that it was a merely mix up, it can come back to bite her in the future. Revenge used the amnesia plot great; things are getting intense and interesting! Also picked by Sharon Seymour
Jamie Coudeville: Emily tells Charlotte that her father is David Clarke - I almost fell off my chair in this scene. I was sure someone was going to interrupt them before she actually said it. This is soo going to come back to haunt her. I know the promo made it seem like Victoria will find out her secret next but I think it will be Charlotte.
Virginia Fontana: Jack visits Emily in the hospital. This scene showed the complicated emotions between the two as Jack tried to explain their relationship and remind Emily who she is (while protecting her false identity at the same time). The combination of Jack needing to help keep her safe within the Grayson-fortified hospital, his trying to break through her amnesia, and the feelings of love and regret he expressed made for a powerful, moving, fascinating scene.

REVOLUTION, "The Three Amigos", January 8, 2014, Actors: Zak Orth, Giancarlo Esposito and more
The Scene: Tom tells Julia not to forget who she's talking to & Aaron finds Grace in Springfield
Pablozky21
: Revolution is another show that came back and followed up its streak of good episodes; there were many scenes I liked, but my favorite was when Tom grabbed Julia coldly and told her that he would give her everything she wanted, but that she had to back off. It's really interesting to see their dynamic, it's obvious that Julia somewhat loves the fear of being grabbed like that as when Tom leaves her eyes are all like "oh, my". The acting from both Giancarlo Esposito and Kim Raver is just spot on, and makes for a very enjoyable scene and not just this one, but many other along the episode.
Darth Locke: Aaron ventures to a desolate Springfield, Oklahoma only to find an equally puzzled Grace.

SHERLOCK, "The Sign of Three", January 5, 2014, Actors: Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and more, The Scenes: Sherlock's speech about John & The ending scene
Justyna Kubica:
Sherlock's best man speech at the wedding was a very long one, but my favorite moment is when he finally gets to his point and describes himself as the most unpleasant, rude and ignorant person that anyone could possibly have the misfortune to meet but also admits how he never expected to be anyone's best man and, most importantly, best friend, especially to the bravest, kindest and wisest human being he's ever known, John Watson. And that's just a small part of what he says in front of all the guests. He congratulates the happy couple, makes everyone get quite emotional and even gets a hug from Watson. It was such a beautiful speech, one of my all-time favorites, I think. The fact that this is how Sherlock really feels makes me realize just how far he has come since the moment he's met John. Sure, he can still be that rude and insensitive person he described, he doesn't recognize the magnitude of his words, he's quite confused about everyone's reaction. But now, he has more of these powerful moments that humanize him, make us see how much his friends mean to him. And I'm really enjoying his character development this season. Unfortunately, all the lovely moments and changes feel like the calm before the storm. Hopefully the growing bond between Sherlock and his friends is what's gonna help them survive it.
Diana Mack: Sherlock finds himself alone at the wedding, and just puts his coat on and leaves the wedding, while Molly watches him leaving.

TEEN WOLF, "Anchors", January 6, 2014, Actors: Dylan O'Brien, Tyler Posey, Melissa Ponzio and more
The Scenes: Stiles' nightmare & Mama McCall tells Scott to be his own anchor
A Dahne:
Mama McCall tells Scott to be his own anchor, that loves will come and go, but he needs to find his strength in himself. It was a realistic portrayal of love in a show that tends to rise above the cliches of other romance nonsense. Kudos to Melissa Ponzio for giving the best speech of the week.
Justyna Kubica: Not knowing whether you're awake or asleep is truly one of the scariest things I can imagine. And to see poor Stiles being trapped in this in-between state was just painful. I could have picked a different scene from the episode, they were other great ones (like "Be your own anchor" speech which is just one of the smartest ones I've heard and something I was hoping for since season one) but in the end, Dylan O'Brien's performance in the opening montage is what really stayed with me after the episode more than anything else. Not to mention a very brief, but still so important moment between father and son when the latter finally wakes up, screaming. This opening scene has to be one of the most powerful ones to start a season (or like in this case, mid-season) that I've seen and makes for a great set-up for the rest of the episodes. Such a complex, fascinating and terrifying idea, kudos to Teen Wolf team for their work!
Jamie Coudeville: Stiles' very complex dream - The perfect scene to start off season 3b. They fooled me each time. It perfectly set the tone for what this season will be like and I can't wait.

THE BIG BANG THEORY, "The Occupation Recalibration", January 9, 2014, Actors: Jim Parsons and more
The Scene: Sheldon says "Penny" when Leonard knocks on Penny's door (picked by Babar Suhail)

THE MENTALIST, "White Lines", January 5, 2014, Actors: Simon Baker, Tim Kang and more
The Scene: The ending scene
Diana Mack:
Lisbon, Fisher and Cho go to make sure Jane is ok (after Krystal's been arrested). The two women say he should have told them his plan, and when Jane looks for Cho to be on his side, he simply replies he's with them because "You're a terrible comunicator."

THE MIDDLE, "Sleepless in Orson", January 8, 2014, Actors: Eden Sher and more
The Scene: Darrin sees Derrik and Sue's kiss
Pablozky21:
The Middle is incredibly underrated and unappreciated, it's a show that can deliver many great moments, in this episode? Darrin spotting Sue and Derrik kissing; it's heartbreaking because the guy has finally realized that he has been bossed around pretty much his whole life and Sue was the sole person who didn't do that, and as he goes to win her back he realizes she is starting to move on. It's a sad, faint moment that gives The Middle its always reliable emotional beats, which are always spot on. This is a series in which I have both laughed and cried at times, I'm not saying that this is a scene to cry (it's not), just that The Middle can pull it. This scene in particular is greatly executed and it's one of the reasons I love this show.

WHITE COLLAR, "Live Feed", January 9, 2014, Actors: Matt Bomer, Tim DeKay
The Scene: Peter and Neal find Rebecca's files
A Dahne:
Rebecca playing Neal was a given from the beginning but I doubt anyone suspected how involved the con ended up being. To have professional level surveillance on Neal, Peter, Seigel, and everyone in white collar hints at a much bigger game. Now the question becomes is Rebecca the evil mastermind or is she yet another pawn in a veryhigh stakes game.
