Revenge - 3.11 - Homecoming - Review

Episode 3.11 was the anticipated aftermath from the shooting of Emily Thorne, aired in the episode just before the holiday hiatus. I ultimately enjoyed this episode quite a bit, so much was uncovered during this episode. Upon seeing the promo for “Homecoming” mid-December, one thought had come to my mind: “Please let her be faking the amnesia, how soapier can we get?” Then, as the day approached, my feelings seemed to shift. I thought: “I’d actually enjoy the amnesia storyline, as long as they don’t stretch it out too long.” (My guess was they’d stretch it until the mid-season final) I actually would like to see Emily/Amanda stripped from her past, stripped from the vengeance that consumes her. What would she really be like if she’d had the childhood most of us had? It’s important, for me, so I can keep rooting for her despite the fact she’s done some horrible things. I need to know she isn’t a terrible person just for the sake of being a terrible person. That once, if, she has revenge on the Graysons, she can be a decent human being.

We haven’t yet witnessed the Amanda Clarke who hasn’t been wronged, who’s a normal woman. A woman with dreams and aspirations other than to take down her wealthy neighbors. But, I don’t think they’re going that way. Though, in this episode, we got to enjoy a much more vulnerable and emotional Emily. Even before the memory loss, her priorities seemed to have shift. I really enjoyed the boat scene; she was so helpless, so honest.
Is it just me or is the first that came to mind when I saw her lying there was for the fisherman: Yay you caught a mermaid!

I was happy they explained how someone who was shot in the stomach could get amnesia, a bleed in the brain, due to the impact of the water. It's far fetched, but its something I can accept. I also appreciated that Nolan and Aiden, just like us, first jumped to the conclusion that she was faking her memory loss. It also kind of dulled down anyone who might be speculating over the faking or not. The thing now is, she’s only recovered parts of her memory, right? She still doesn’t really know who she is, or does she?

Lydia has had the best one-liners in the last couple of episodes. She’s a bitch but Victoria kind of deserves it. “I never knew how uncomfortable that chair was.” Good to know! She’s the comedic relief Nolan used to be, just not as funny. It’s been a while since Nolan’s humoristic, sarcastic one-liners, I miss those. Is it just me or did their little cat fight make me laugh a little.

Daniel has shifted to the dark side, but not completely, and I find it kind of hard to follow, to position myself. I just don’t enjoy the back and forth, and his feelings he claims to have for Sarah aren’t helping. It’s a character development that cannot be redeemed. He’s bad, and he better stay bad because nothing will be able to justify another change in his personality. He may want to do the right thing by going to the cops and telling what really happened that night, but he won’t, even without papa Grayson’s intervention he wouldn’t have. He’s a Grayson and they just aren’t manufactured that way. I’m guessing though, once Amanda’s back to being Emily, her best plan for revenge would be to let the Grayson clan implode. It’s bound to happen soon enough and Daniel will be the catalyst.

"My father’s name is David Clark." It makes sense her father is one of the few things she remembers, it has consumed her life for so long. Everything she’s been doing for the last few years were directly or indirectly linked to Davis Clark. This means, if Charlotte pursues this revelation,(Good thing she blabbed to Charlotte, because she isn't the sharpest crayon in the box.) she will, soon enough be in the Amanda inner circle. Seriously Jack, way to keep your cool when Charlotte announced what Emily had told her. Like that wasn’t a dead give-away that he knew something more. If Charlotte doesn’t pursue the David Clark revelation, she really is hopeless. Jack is slowly coming back in my good graces, but he still managed to piss me off a little, but just a little because you knew he’d eventually do the right thing. Let’s recap, he is ultimately the one responsible for Emily’s stupid arse plan. Instead of helping her remember, he’s like: No, this is all my fault. Boohoo hoo. Once he understood the implication of Emily remembering on her own, his mind changed. Jack is the only person to have Emily/Amanda to smile. It makes sense as she seems to be going back to the person she was before her dad was imprisoned, to the little girl on the beach who laughed and had a crush on Jack Porter.

Victoria: “I am not the shooter, let’s leave it at that and move on.” Haha, Queen V, is that really the best you can do? Like saying that doesn’t make you look even more guilty than you already do.

“Trust me.”
“This is what you said to David Clark.”

Nolan and Patrick seem to be over. That didn’t last long! What Nolan wouldn’t do for her BFF. Patrick and Nolan ganging up against our merry band of revengers is bad news, especially when their mastermind doesn’t even remember she has something to hide.


Who’s aiden’s lady doctor friend? And what did she try and give Emily?

Does Emily have her memory back? Or does she still only know she’s Amanda.
